We are on a road trip and my husband wanted to try this place. I was suspect at first after reading yelp reviews. Once my daughter said, I want the diner, I have never eaten at a diner I knew I had no say in the matter. This place was way better than yelp reviews. We ordered the Monte Cristo, pot pie, prime rib sandwich, and Gyro. Everything was good. The Monte Cristo and the pot pie were fabulous. Only thing I would change is serve Raspberry sauce instead of maple syrup with it. Not a problem the amazing waitress quickly brought me a cup of raspberry sauce. French fries and onion rings were also great. We did not try the 7 layer chocolate cake but it looked amazing. Also they served a very nice salad. Our waitress was very friendly and really funny. Food was good, I had Spanish Omelet with toast and home fries, and you can substitute something else for home fries too, my friend got cottage cheese. Coffee was strong, so I had it with a lot of cream. The only thing bothered me was that they put butter on my toast, and I don't like butter. Diner test: Open 24/7: yes! But not a full menu around the clock, so you are warned. Hiya Hon service: decent, attentive, but not exactly bright-eyed. Meh. Coffee refills offered: one. The coffee was very bad thin Columbian and a bit burnt. Breakfast all day: yes! Ambiance: not the classic diner layout but close enough. Marred considerably by having many TVs, all of them with audio on, and on different channels, which makes it hard to either have a conversation or even watch the TV. When I go to a diner I want the gentle background noises of clattering dishes and pleasant lowkey conversation, not talking heads. Food: meh. Patty melt test was sufficiently meltish, the omelettes were a little tasteless -- I blame the eggs, as ever, although the spinach omelette did have plenty of spinach in it. The sausage fat links were undercooked and inedible in the middle. Toast came out overbuttered, soggy, and actually crumpled -- showing signs of having been massacred while being prepared with somebody's heavy thumb. Came out promptly but wasn't entirely hot, which always makes me wonder. It barely suffices in the three-star category, weakly so, but adequate won't win me repeat business. Nearby, the Circle's a bit better, although not by any orders of magnitude; both establishments present challenges getting on and off 9, to be sure, so my recommendation is to go to whichever one is more convenient for you if you're hankering for diner food and don't want to drive in to better-appointed areas of town. read more

This time honored diner that is open year-round 24 seven days a week. Although I have not been to this diner in a number of years,during the Covid crisis they are wearing gloves and masks and we felt extremely safe. The menu is full they're using paper menus and individual those salt and pepper packets. The customer service was exceptional and personable. We had a large party two tables of 10 people with a dedicated waitress for each and asked if it was OK to bring out food at different times while I was hot. I would recommend their signature tater tot appetizer and the artichoke spinach dip served in the bread bowl and multicolored chips. The pastrami Reuben was very lean and serve with the thousand Island on the side. The steak fries are a must. Well others in my party meat was overdone it did not deter from the experience. All desserts are housemaid with the exception of the Keylime pie. There was a nice balance between Greek dishes and other americana offerings. read more

So disappointed.. love a good diner so thought we would try this one. Ordered side salad, cup of soup, side of broccoli, and side of mashed potatoes. Salad was a very small amount of iceberg, a couple pieces of pepper, and two squishy tomatoes. It also included a small black bug.. no big deal it's lettuce.. it happens. I didn't say anything and moved on. Soup was chicken with rice and very good. Broccoli and potatoes came out and the broccoli was way under cooked. Like hard.. difficult to cut at all. It also included some little wormy looking bugs. Again.. I know it happens but now it's just annoying and gross at this point, and I sent it back (obviously). Potatoes were just ok.. mashed but skins on and lumpy. Gravy again.. just ok. My son had pancakes which were good, and we shared a dessert which was ok. Two seltzers and a coffee. All in all this came to about $50 I thought that was a bit high since I ordered a few of the smallest sides and no full meal. The food was average or below and unfortunately we won't go back. The only real draw is the atmosphere, inside and out. They play decent music, but the food, lets just say, if you want a decent breakfast go somewhere else. Sausage is tasteless, eggs are under cooked and when we asked why we got both shredded and chunks of potatoes mixed together, the waitress said she ha no idea why they were making them like that. We came here around 7:30pm on a Friday night and were seated right away. When I went to order an egg cream, I was told that they do not have them - I have never known a diner that does not serve egg creams so that was a big disappointment. We all ordered different dishes- French onion soup, omelet, chicken pot pie, roma wrap, turkey club and grilled chicken sandwich and all of them were excellent with generous portions. The French onion was one of the better soups I've had. The chicken pot pie was also very filling. To me the only downside was that my mother asked for extra mayo for the turkey club and she was only given a small plastic cup with maybe a tablespoon or so of extra mayo. I think they could have been more generous with that. The waitress was attentive; however, when asked for more water, she only brought one glass for one person. Overall, nice diner. read more

Talk about dirty. When we first walked into the diner to our booth, it was dirty af, so we went to another booth. Found another booth, great, looked at our utensils, it was nasty. They had egg yolk stuck to them, how pleasant. Now on to our waitress, initial impression was that shes super hyped but I liked her however when she came back to take our order she seemed way too in a hurry, it was clear how stressed she was, but i would've appreciated it if it wasn't so apparent. Anywho moving on, i ordered waffles it was pretty decent. As far as my friends, his pancakes were too sweet and not as fluffy as we hoped it to be. Hubs and I had some car trouble unfortunately and got stuck in the area. We were SUPER lucky to get to a repair shop 1/2 a block away from this diner. The food was pretty decent and the servers and other people who worked there were all very pleasant and sweet and very prompt. It was really a lifesaver! We ate here three times during our adventure and we weren't disappointed. I enjoyed the greek fries a lot, but didn't really taste the garlic, the coleslaw was really tasty and I liked the broccoli omelette. I was happy to get prompt coffee refills! Drove by this diner several times after moving to the area and finally tried it on a Sunday morning. For a party of three we got seated right away. The waitress was personable, kind, and quick to help and the food was even better. The portion sizes were fair and pancakes were delicious. Only downside was that the home fries could have been cooked a bit longer and seasoned more. It's been awhile since I've stopped into the 76 but I have to say the breakfast was horrible this morning. I ordered two eggs over easy with the home fries and toast. The eggs and toast were fine but the home fries, which I believe are the single most important item a breakfast should be judged on, were disgusting. The potatoes tasted as if they were about 3 days old sitting in the refrigerator and then heated up for 5 minutes after having been previously cooked before. As a result they were starchy and mushy with a stale aftertaste. 76, don't recycle old home fries and then try to serve them to the customer. Either make them fresh everyday or only use cooked potatoes that haven't been on the grill yet! Breakfast 101 here folks. When I was seated and asked for sweet tea, the waitress bring me raspberry tea...I ordered the gyro platter and when it got to my table...I should've just left. The fries looked and tasted old, the gyro meat (all 3 pieces) looked as if they pulled it out the freezer, threw in the microwave, and placed it on the pita bread. The best diner in Albany, PERIOD. Been going here since I was a kid, after high school football games and still stop in every time I come home to visit! Highly recommend mozzarella sticks and fried mac and cheese bites. The wraps are all great and breakfast is AMAZING. Not impressed. This is my third time trying this place. First time was ok.. second time we were seated for 35 min before someone took our order. The time I tried delivery of their 3 mini hot dogs and a slice of cherry pie. The hot dogs didn't come with the pickles and relish as advertised (came bare with packets of ketchup) and the pie tasted undercooked and was really cold. Nothing about it was enjoyable. I give this Diner 5 Stars - It is truly a great diner. I have been eating at this establishment for the better part of 10 years. Everything is fantastic from Breakfast, lunch to dinner or to just a cup and coffee with a slice of their many pies or cakes, everything is great! When you think "diner" three things come to mind, American staples, quality/clean, and affordable, this hits on all three. Add that you also get some amazing greek food on the menu and you got yourself an amazing selection food. This review will stick to the breakfast and lunch - Breakfast is just amazing - if you want a huge stuffed omlet or "thick Challah bread" french toast or plate sized pancakes you cant go wrong. Everything is done well, served hot and cheap. Lunch is even better, I usually get the Chicken gyro salad or burger. The Tzatziki sauce is one of the best in the region - Chicken is plump and juicy with ample amounts of feta served over a fresh salad complimented generously with calamatta olives and cucumbers. Burgers are bigger than a 1/4 pound and there are so many options all served with amazing beer battered onion rings and fries.
