I really like the product here. I've probably been here at least 30 times. They make all our birthday cakes. I love all their goodies, from the coffees to the cookies. The staff is great, always friendly. My only complaint and it's kind of a big complaint is that they never clean their tables. Like I said I've been here dozens of times and have never seen anyone ever cleaning the tables. Very often, including today, I have to sit the cleanest dirty table. I'm so happy Latham bakery is in garland! It's a must stop whenever we're in canton. This place has some of the best pastries I've ever had and is quite the cute space. We came in after a day on the square and luckily they still had quite a few pastries left even though it was later, the service is prompt and you order at the counter. We got the pecan sticky bun and the strawberry cheese danish. Both were excellent as expected and even tasted better the next day. I wrote a review earlier but it didn't post. If you get their croissant sandwich you'll find it is a Walmart croissant (fake) with processed meat, Walmart cheese and way overpriced. We spent 18. for two of those and drinks and were very disappointed. We did not smell anything being baked fresh and doubt they do. Instead of calling it a bakery they should call it a Fakery. To preface, I'm from the Richardson Plano area where we're spoiled with French Vietnamese bakeries, so part of this review is my bias. I'm disappointed in the quality of baked goods I received, none of them tasted like they were baked same day. My banana nut bread was dry, the spinach feta pastry looked exactly like the ones you could order at a donut shop, the brownie was okay, but the cheese danish was made with an unsweetened yeast dough, and wasn't great because of that. We ordered an iced matcha latte and a London Fog; the iced matcha was overly sweet, and the London Fog was really just an earl gray with milk, no added sugar, and certainly not the signature Lavender that defines the drink. Overall this bakery was mediocre for the price point of $27 for 4 pastries and 2 drinks. read more

If the employees were trained on what is in the pastry case it would be incredibly helpful. When I asked what fruit was in a pastry, the response was, "if it is red, we were told it is cherry". Seriously??? They also were not very interested in moving away from the counter by the cash register. My mom and I were looking at everything as we had never been there before. We were trying to figure out what everything was and all she would say is, "when you are ready, I can ring you up". Customer service is nonexistent and knowledge is compromised tremendously. Needless to say, I see no reason to return. The strawberry cake tasted like it came from a box, I.e. Duncan Hines or something inferior to that. We come here all the time for their danish, muffins, cakes and treats. Cheesecake is fantastic and coffee/latte is amazing. Breakfast croissant is good for price. Yogurt bowl is good. Everything is good. Service can be a little slow but they are a small place and really nice and I've never had a bad experience. Apparently it isn't a great place to set up your laptop but hey, that's not what I come here for and they probably don't want to pay for everyone hooking up to their electricity. This place just lost my business. On my first visit, I ordered the Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese, but on panini bread, at the suggestion of the lady behind the counter. I loved it, and have been ordering it that way ever since. Today, it came out on white bread, so my husband took it back to the counter and explained that I ordered it on panini bread. He was told they could not make it on panini bread...Even though they have panini bread (his sandwich was on panini bread), I get it that way all the time, and I first ordered it that way at the suggestion of THEIR employee...I won't be back. i came here tonight because they were having a fundraiser for our school. it was supposed to last until 7:00. i stood in line for over 30 minutes only to be told that the grill was closed so no sandwiches. that was the biggest waste of my time. and what a terrible way to run a fundraiser for a school to close the grill 40 minutes before closing time. i've looked all over their website and menu and no where does it say they serve certain items certain times. if you're going to stop serving grilled sandwiches before your closing time that needs to be stated somewhere. also did not state it on the menu in store either. read more

So, I had been on TikTok and saw a cakecuterie board for girls night and I didn't feel like baking a bunch of cakes/ going to a wedding cake store, so I google cake by the slice and this came up. The reviews varied and I was wondering how it could be so hit or miss. The atmosphere is so cute in downtown Garland. And I ordered a California club on a croissant as well as a cup of soup to go. It was good and hit the spot. It was also huge and I was able to split with my husband. Back to the cake situation. The display case looks amazing and is a feast for the eyes. But I think the reason for the varied reviews is not inconsistency, but rather expectation. We sampled the strawberry swirl, lemon, chocolate, red velvet, Italian cream, strawberry cheesecake, and turtle cheesecake. If you bake and are not accustomed to grocery store cake, you will not be impressed. All the icing had a waxy taste and is made with Crisco/ lard- rather than butter. I get that being in TX butter makes it hard to transport bc your icing will melt. But also the "whipped cream" that decorates things is not made from just heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla. It is waxy as well. The red velvet and chocolate are missing the deep dark cacao powder, so have a faint taste. Lemon didn't have crisco in icing- so that was a plus. If you are the type of person that a grocery store cake is acceptable, this is a slight upgrade and doesn't taste like cardboard like a Kroger/ target cake. The flavors are light and not rich. And the icing is the typical grocery store style. My husband enjoyed the cheesecakes the most. One friend preferred the strawberry swirl. I liked the Italian cream the best. It wasn't as moist as the others but seemed better quality. I will def return for a lunch with sandwich and soups- I will not be indulging in cake. Will try out the danishes or something else and see if they measure up. Oh- service was very nice as well- everyone very polite. read more

The lady at the counter was so sweet! We had just walked around the square and she could visibly see we were hot and offered us water. We ordered three desserts which was overkill but it all looked so good we couldn't pick. We got a strawberry shortcake which was the best I've had. The brownie was fudgy and not overly sweet. We also got banana bread which was not my favorite but my boyfriend enjoyed it. The inside was cute and clean.
