I have taken all of my animals there since their birth. They are professional, knowledgeable and courteous. In fact we needed to collect a urine sample, so one of the staff walked with us in the field until we were successful. Now, having said that, there have been a few snags along the way, but you have to be patient, kind, and understanding after all we are all human. Zero stars again. Ive transferred my dog records to another vet. The vet/octor to tell me they googled how to proceed with treatment is just ridiculous, scary and concerning. I tried to pick up the medication we had discussed. When I went to pick up the prescription they had all previous treatments ready ( which didn't work) not what we discussed as treatment moving forward. I left upset because I was trying to look past their previous errors with prescriptions but NO!!! This is how they conduct their practice. If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered. If you value your pet, avoid visiting on a Monday; the float doctor seemed incredibly inexperienced and was impatient with my dog, who is naturally scared around new people. Even after I explained that my dog isn't aggressive, just fearful of not visiting the vet in a while, the doctor--who had claimed to be "very experienced" despite me never asking--still couldn't manage to examine my dog, she did not try to attempt different ways to help my dog, she simply gave up. My dog is still in pain, and now I have to find a new facility that actually knows how to handle dogs of all temperaments, whether they are fearful or not. read more

She is kind and patient, takes time to listen and answer any questions we have, and she's down to earth. But after my second call for some questions turned out to be rude. I brought my fur baby & she was expecting when I rescued her. And I can't believe what the nurse asked me "would you like to abort the puppies?!?" The nurse took my fur baby in & within 5 min. she brought her back. ANOTHER red flag for any business offering expensive medical care for any creature. My interaction was a single minute long and this review is the result. Could have gone way differently if this secretary had any patience or any REAL customer service skills. When a customer calls, that is ur one chance to create a 5-minute personal relationship with someone to get as much money out of them as possible. It's not even that I feel personally disrespected as a former client, I can no longer trust that they will provide the care I'm willing to pay for. This person didn't even give me the time of day to try and help me outside of one question and didn't even have the courtesy to let me finish my sentence. Who's to say they are going to take the time to check on ur pet staying overnight in a strange place, feeling a strange way? Who's to say they are doing everything in their power to prevent something from going wrong while ur bst friend is in their care? Who is to say they don't treat our pets like they treat a dope head in an ER? bing given less than the bare minimum and put back out just bc u don't have the THRICE the INFLATED PRICE of the treatment? I called to ask a few questions about their services and payment options and I got hung up on mid-sentence. One star bc I HAVE TO POST, but I don't think it is very good business to b hanging up on customers. Still had almost a full hour bfore they closed when I called, and I only had a few questions about payment and potential treatment options for a small dog, even bad news outside of their lack of payment plans would have ben btter than the service I received from this person. If this is how they answer questions now, I don't even want to know what kind of half-bakeded medical treatment they could potentially b giving our animals. During this whole COVID-19 Pandemic, I was fearful that my cat wouldn't get the help he needed when he hadn't urinated in a little over 24 hours. When I called and was told it was an emergency, I was told I could take him in even though it was 3am. Thank god they are still in operation during these times. I am so grateful to have a place like this in town that is open 24 hours! Our cat Midnight means so much to us. Turns out he had a blockage, which unfortunately he has had 4 times now. This time however was different. The blockage was bad enough that he wasn't able to even let a little bit of urine out, and I've never seen him in such a bad state before. With blockages, every minute counts! When I brought him in, all of the employees took it serious and checked his vitals right away. He needed some anesthesia and a catheter put in place in order to flush out the blockage. I just brought him home and he seems so happy to be home and full of life so far. Thank goodness for Dr. Whitehead and all of her staff! I also appreciate the fact that they take the current virus situation seriously. Only one person was allowed inside to bring in the pet, and after that most of our conversations happened outside over 6 feet apart with masks, even though it was raining. This is a sign to me that the doctor and staff take health and medicine seriously, which some might be annoyed by, but for me it was comforting and showed me that he was in great care. Going to follow up on Tuesday, and I'm glad that although we've already paid a lot, the follow-up is not going to break the bank. This review is longer than I had planned, but I just want to say, Thanks again so much for all that you all do,(even during these times) If your Pets need care during this time don't hesitate to take them here. My 9 year old pit mix has been having ear drainage that has not resolved with home treatment. I took her in to Paws and Claws today and she was seen by Dr J. Barkhu. The vet was so gentil and calming with her! Like most dogs, mine does not like vet visits, but the staff was great with her, especially Dr. Barkhu. We were offered different treatment plans that were affordable and the office visit itself was reasonable. She took the time to explain what was happening with my dogs ears and what to expect at home. Very good communication as well as being loving to my pet. The check in process went smoothly for us, we waited in a shady spot in the parking lot for maybe 10 minutes to get registered and then the tech came out to get us. The entire visit was fast and smooth. Overall I am happy with this vet and would take my dogs back if needed. read more

I came here a few times and they have both been bad experiences, but the last time I went showed me how heartless people can be. I called in ahead of time crying my eyes out because my elderly dog had passed away in my arms. I couldn't bury her, so I decided to call and ask Paws and Claws if they could have her cremated. The lady on the phone seemed nice, she told us the price and I headed over with my family. We parked outside and I called them again since we couldn't just enter. They told me they would come out to my car to take my dog and give me the paperwork. So there my family was, waiting in the car with our deceased dog, as the huge lady working up front catered to another car next to us. I waited patiently, and then I see her going out to another car afterwards. Already upset, I go up to her while she ushered in another customer's dogs. I asked if she could come to the car to take my dog already, and she said she had to take care of the customers that were before me. My family was BAWLING. And the longer we held our passed dog, the more upset we became. The last straw happened when a huge jeep came around the corner and she immediately rushed out to take THEIR dogs. We left. We dead-eyed that massive woman as we drove away, and she looked back. And as we drove away, we got a call from her, saying sorry for the wait, saying she could take our dog. No. Absolutely not. The disrespect we felt was immense. I did not trust her with my deceased family. We let her know how we felt and hung up on her. We waited 15-20 minutes with our dead dog in the car for NOTHING. We took our passed dog to Jules Veterinary down the street. Two amazing nurses came out the second we pulled up, took our dog with care, and gave us heartfelt condolences. Our (and our cat's) favorite vet so far! Vet techs and veterinarian(s) that cared for our pet were all respectful, kind, and understating to both our cat and us. They answered all our questions, discussed our bill with each and every procedure & medication that was expected to be done/used (and was removed if it wasn't done.) they also have payment installment options for you to choose from that made the whole experience stress free. Our cat normally HATES the vet, but he seemed to be at ease in the examination room. What i liked about the staff was that when our cat started to become a bit agitated and in distress, they didn't force the themselves or our cat to get initial vital signs and let him relax before continuing. Their HONESTY is what I value most from this clinic. We thought our cat had an ear abscess and was expecting a large bill. But come to find they did not need to drain the infection and was able to clean the infected area, examine the wound thoroughly, and administer antibiotics and implant a microchip for our fur baby - therefore our bill was much lower than our initial quoted bill. Picked our cat up around 2am (even though they offered to house him till the morning for free) and it was evident that our cat was very well taken care! Facility is new. Clean. Well my cat had a bladder infection and my normal vet was booked so I had to find another vet which isn't easy for me, I have trust issues. I reached out to paws and claws and they were able to get me in the same day. They were very nice & were very patient with me as I was worried about my girl. Dr. Stevens was great! He talked to me multiple times, and seemed available whenever needed which I really liked! In my past experience with other vets, I see the vet during apt and if I had questions after it takes a call back hours later from the dr which is fine but it was nice and I appreciated him being available to explain things to me as I called. read more

They dropped my kitten as she was dying. Long story short. I brought my kitten here for an emergency injury that was caused by another vet. She ended up passing away. They called me when she was coding and told me they needed to give her something to pass. And I agreed. When I got the notes back they took my cat out to check her temperature and when they took her out she fell and she coded. When I questioned this later they said no she was coding and then we dropped her. So either way they dropped a sick cat or they dropped a dying cat. The chances of my cat surviving from her injury from the first vet was slim and I understand that. But the fact that they dropped my cat in any situation was pure negligence. I wasn't going to complain or anything because I know that the first vet was mostly to blame. it took me a while to pick up her ashes because I was traumatized. When I went to pick up her ashes I was met with a rude employee who I think her name is Danielle I'm not sure. Sorry if that's the wrong name. But basically she had me waiting out there for 40 minutes when she gave me my kitten's ashes she kind of shoved them in my hand. And she couldn't find my kennel and when I called frustrated after 40 minutes of waiting for the kennel she just yelled at me on the phone. That she couldn't find my kennel and I said so you guys gave it away then and she said no we just can't find it and I already told you this. So I'm hurt because I'm here picking up my dead kitten's ashes . I guess they had a few emergencies going on. And they could have told me that and I would have 100% understood. But instead they had me waiting for 40 minutes. all they had to do was tell me that they were having some emergencies and I would have accepted that and went home and waited for a phone call. And I start to say look you're being very rude I'm here to pick up my kitten's ashes and the second she heard me say rude she hung the phone up on me. So I went home. Come to find out they donated my kennel because I guess I took too long to pick it up. But the manager was also rude to me claiming that I was very rude to her employees. I'm a manager too and I would never tell a customer that they were being rude to my employees I would get the customer side of the story and the employee side of the story and decide which one I wanted to believe. Not only that but she was so rude to me when I told her she didn't have the right to donate my kennel. She snapped at me saying well how long would you have waited? Would you waited a year and she just kept going on and on. When I told her I was going to complain to the better business bureau her attitude changed and she wanted to quote hug me over the phone. But it was too late the damage is done. I was never rude to her employees. And I'll admit I was yelling when I talked to the manager. But that was after she yelled at me first. And at that point I snapped. I couldn't believe that she too was being rude to me when I was just trying to find my dead kitten stuff. They dropped my dying kitten and when I picked up her ashes I was met with a disgusting amount of hostility. And when I tried to call to complain the manager was rude straight off the bat. Until I threatened to complain. And the funny thing is is I wasn't going to even say anything I was going to let it go that they dropped my cat. But I'm done. From the moment I picked my cat up from the first vet that injured her to when I picked up her ashes. I was met with nothing but rudeness and I'm tired of it. I'm the one that lost a cat. Do not come here. The people who work here have NO empathy for what your going through with your sick pet. Except for the receptionist. She was very sweet. The "manager" was even rude to the receptionist when the manager had to refund my $30 deposit. Basically I had my wife call yesterday about euthanasia and cremation. She had spoke with three different people. All of those people had mentioned the same amount for what we were requesting. When we get to the appointment we are charged over $100 of a difference than what we were quoted on the phone. So it seems that there's a disconnection between what's being told over the phone and when you get there. Not only that about the money, but the service that I got when I got there was horrible. Right when the assistant came into the room, she asked me why I am euthanizing my dog and she can clearly see that my dog is old she has gray hair she's not eating anymore. She's just old you know, she accused me of wanting to euthanize my dog just because I wanted to euthanize my dog. She started asking me if she was spayed or neutered and at that point I was very frustrated because she was insinuating that I wasn't taking care of my dog and that's why I wanted to euthanize her when I actually told her I don't appreciate her asking me these questions. She got rude and very passive with me. Then she proceeded to tell me about the payment and I called my wife right away and my wife spoke to her and then she told my wife I don't know why you're demanding things of us when we haven't even seen your dog before. Basically, my wife was asking if they can waive the examination fee because that was never quoted over the phone so we weren't expecting to pay for that. Regardless of the fact that the information was wrong given over the phone, something should've been done to compensate our troubles and nothing was done. They were like so dismissive. They did not want to help us at all and I feel like it's also because we are lesbian couple, so I wouldn't come here if I were you because they're rude as fuck. I left so upset. I also found a different veterinary place who will do it for half the price so get your shit right paws and whatever the fuck your name is. read more

I just wanted to update my rating. I have since been back multiple times trying to figure out my dogs allergy and skin issues (thank God for pet insurance). I really love that Paws and Claws always get me in quickly compared to other vets I've tried in the area. The vets also explained to me each treatment course and why we were trying it. They have also recommended me a dermatologist for my dog who was excellent. I can confidently say I trust the vets here and although they tried multiple things to help my dog also referred me to a specialist when he needed it and wasn't responding to normal treatment. read more

I work from home 60+ hours a week and jumped up once I saw my puppy wasn't feeling well!!!! So no I don't have time for you and your judgmental and hostile attitude either! I've never had a doctor ever talk to me with such a condescending tone where I didn't even want to get my dog treated at the clinic but I already paid the non refundable intake fee and I will always put my dogs health before my self.. so I must wait 4 hours to pick up my babygirl. If it's an emergency and you have NO CHOICE but to go to this clinic then ask for Jeane as a vet tech, it's the only reason why I'm giving this place even one star. I would give 0 star if that was a choice! Very disappointed. Took my dog in to get a second opinion on the bump on his head. The staff was ok, but Dr.Miller was one of the worst vets we have seen so far. She didn't even touch my dog, let alone examine him!! She just sat on the chair with a piece of paper and a pen pretending to write something and kept asking me questions. She wanted me to show her the bump by holding the dog, but wouldn't even come close to look at it. She asked me to touch and check if it was hard or soft etc... all this while she was on the chair holding her pen. She was only interested in giving me an estimate for the removal. When I directly asked her if you she is even going to examine him up close... She said she will first give me an estimate end come back to examine... Then sent her staff to come get my dog to bring him in so that they can "examine" him. Which was just a showoff for me as I saw Dr. Miller out in the front talking to a person while my dog was inside. They had not done anything for him inside. Why pretend.. if they were going to check him, why couldn't they do it on the examination table in the room??? They just took him in and kept him there for 5 mins and brought him out. I know this for a fact because I know my dog and how restless and agitated he would get had he been really "examined" inside. In fact the assistant came out to tell me that he is doing absolute fine and eating the treats they gave him and is happy!!!. That is impossible!! He NEVER EVER takes treats at vets office even if it is his favorite kind. They charged for the visit in advance while I made the appointment itself and I had to worst experience ever. Worst Vet, Dr.Miller who acts like she is allergic to dogs while "trying" to evaluate without even touching the dog!! I should have checked the reviews here which was my mistake. :-( read more

My Baby boy passed away on a Sunday. I looked up "emergency vet" and Paws and Claws was the first choice. We drove our doggie to the hospital and because of Covid we were asked to "call when we were parked out front" A staff member came out right away, i was so upset a d still in shock so I don't remember much of what she was saying, but j remember the sincerity a d softness of her voice. After filling out an info for,m, she brought out a sample of things we could do for my dog. We made a choice and she came back to get my doggie. She brought a soft blanket and took him from me like she was handling a newborn baby. When it was time to pay (I didn't look at the prices of things when I made choices) I was so surprised on how reasonable (I dont want to use the word "cheap") the price was. A few days before he was ready to come home, I got a sympathy card in the mail. The staff signed it and they put his little paw prints on it. That was so unexpected and thoughtful. Of course it made me cry. The staff there are so caring, they treated us like they knew us, i felt like they loved my little baby too. Paws and Claws not only saved my dogs leg from being amputated but saved me a lot of medical bills . I don't trust any other place. Unfortunately, my 8year old Maltese was attacked by the neighbor's pitbull, In the chaos I took my doctor to a different Vetnarian that was close to me. They sticheD ROCKY'S leg up but told me that he completely dislocated his elbow, and needs to be put on a cast for a few weeks. I took him for a follow up after. Few weeks and said "his shoulder"(when it was his elbow) hasn't healed yet. And may need surgery, but for now, we will change his cast and see if it heals. And also gave me a talk to prepare for surgery, or he will not be able to use his legs again. After bills of re cast fee a few xrays, and worst of all rocky was still not getting better. I took him back to paws and Claws. They told me the cast was so tight that rocky was losing circulation to his paws. They removed the cast and told me that Rocky does not need surgery and that he was perfectly fine. They were very perfoessiol, Dr. Singh took the time to explain what was going on, treatment plan, and showed me exercises to strengthen his shoulder. Well I have only had one encounter with this clinic and it has convinced me that they are NOT the place to take your pet to living or dead. Our regular vet is in the Tri-Valley...why so far away you may ask, that is because our vet use to work in Tracy and her husband in Lathrop and now they own their own clinic in the Tri-Valley but they were closed Sunday evening when my daughter's cat of 10+ years passed away. She had been ill and we had been working with our vet. Unfortunately, she passed in the evening. Trying to take care of the situation I called Paws and Claws and the gentleman was very understanding so we went in. We arrived at the clinic with my daughter and wife, and the woman at reception was non-plus about us being there. She wanted us to fill out the normal forms and put in a room. I stepped out to find out the cost for a group cremation and a ceramic paw print. Since the cat had already passed peacefully, there was no examination needed or anything along that line. Well they wanted to charge my daughter just under $100 ($98.xx) and then $104+ for a paw print of her cat's paw. So in total almost $200. Sorry that is ridiculous and price gouging. I told them to stick it and we left. We went to our normal vet and the fees were considerably different. The group cremation was $25 (yes you read that right) because there was no exam needed or medications required. Plus the ceramic paw print is FREE!!!! Not to mention the true compassion of our regular vet. This is their normal process for my vet. So will continue to use my preferred vet and will let everyone who asks me about Paws and Claws my opinion. Well I am writing it here. I will never ever recommend this facility. read more

Worse place ever My 13 year old Weiner dog Woody was brought in for a abscess tooth , they refunded us the money for the surgery that is not the point my dog was brought home NOT ABLE TO WALK limping on his back feet he is a heavy boy so we have a feeling that the staff man handled him the way he is acting. He came home scared not wanting to eat his food, won't get out of bed. TELL ME HOW DOES MY DOG COME BACK HOME IN WORSE CONDITION THAT WE BROUGHT HIM IN i can promise you we will find out whatever these young and Dumb vet techs. DONT WORK WITH ANIMALS if you are going to treat them bad when no one is around. read more

It's interesting there are so many negative reviews... I called several vets before taking first my kitten, then my puppy in. On the first call, whoever answered the phone was super nice and informative, she told me a bunch of things about the way kittens are adopted out these days and suggested several things to help keep him safe and healthy, before even coming in! Then I took my puppy, I found the puppy package to be super reasonable for the first round of shots and maintenance. Just recently I thought my puppy had swallowed an ear pod and called for some advice. The gal who answered the phone was super friendly and promptly went to speak to the vet. Turned out he had not actually swallowed the EarPods, but had he, I found the recommendations pretty sounds... Anyhow, I feel pretty confident, even with these crappy ratings that this is a great vet. I hope they continue to prove me right. :) read more

Brought in 3 of my cats in and have gotten sound and careful advice. Dr Miller was always there to talk to in every visit. The team were always mindful of the cost of the visit and consult with a sound advice on how to best treat the patient. Although I prefer the holistic form of care, I feel pretty comfortable so far with this clinics' care. read more

Don't even bother with this place. They used to be 24 hours and now you have to wait in the parking lot while your pet is suffering. These women move at snails pace. They close really early and are not open on weekends. Take your pet to Pleasanton instead. This place used to be convenient but not anymore due to new ownership. You'd be better off going to Pleasanton in an emergency. This place sucks and the vets here are terribly slow. All they do is joke around and laugh while you're waiting. They don't care about you or your pet. Not worth waiting for and the new vetenarian is horrible with animals. Trust me These women don't care about animals OR YOU. read more

A couple of weeks ago we had to say goodbye to my sweet doggy Cookie. Today we received an unexpected condolence card containing her paw prints, messages from the staff and flowers. I am forever grateful for the care and love she received in her last days. Dr. Sharma is an exceptional veterinarian and the staff are wonderful. Earlier this week my dog had broken through a plastic toy ball chewing up half of it then swallowing the pieces. I monitored him and a few hours later he began hacking so I was frantically trying to find a 24 hour ER vet and came across Paws & Claws in Tracy. Although I don't remember all of their names, EVERYONE on staff that night were so patient with me and calmed my nerves. They took such good care of Theo and made me feel at ease. The following day Theo (my son) vomited all of the plastic and almost a week later he's back to his normal self! Again, thank you to all of the staff at Paws & Claws for being so great! I rarely ever leave reviews but I'll never forget them for their great work and hospitality! I recommend them 10000%!! read more
