LK left the Throggs Neck area a few years ago and within that interim a few failed businesses took their place. But LK has rightfully returned, slightly reinvented. The staff seems much more attentive and friendly. The music is still on point. I walked in on a Friday evening just to take a peek and ended up staying and dancing for two hours, so that worked. As for the food, I have no idea as this was supposed to be take a looksee and leave. Maybe I'll try something off their menu next time, we shall see. As for now, late night dancing here will be my first choice. read more

So far, in all my times going out in the BX, this is by far one of the best places I have been to with the FULL package!!! DJ, Drinks, Food, Staff, ambiance, everything from beginning to end is amazing. I came here for a birthday party on a Friday night and had a blast with appetizers drinks and music choice! I am now here for Sunday brunch (which they have in two hour time slots) and it is the same feel and experience. If you want to have a great time, eat great food, and like to drink, this is the place to come to. The wait staff is very attentive, and the food is so good. My friend and I came here and thank God I had a groupon because I would've hated to pay full price for mediocre food. The decor of this spot is cool and sexy with all the white. When we got there it wasnt crowded but it damn sure should've been because thats how long it took for us to get our appetizers. Customers who arrived after us received their appetizers before we did and we eventually recieved our appetizer and entrees at the same time. I was pissed and hungry but those pieces of delicous bread temporarily made up for it while we waited. I ordered chicken and my friend ordered pernil and both our meals were just okay. Get ready for this... I Came in on Wednesday June 6, to celebrate my actual born day with a party of 8 people. My sister and her female friend arrived first and were informed that the happy hour was only until 8 pm.... I arrived around 7 pm and showed the bartender the flyer stating that Wednesday was "ladies night" posted on the same day on their Instragram account. The bartender had the nerves to tell me that the flyer was "old" and that the happy hour was only until 8 pm. I requested to speak to a manager however according to her, she was the one in charged. After speaking with the promoter, she agreed to honored the happy hour until 12 am, although the flyer states "happy hour all day and night". I agreed to stay there only because I was expecting more people to show up at a later time. I swear that otherwise, I would of left and spent my money at Inwood Bar & Grill. . The waiter wasn't honoring my party the $5 appetizers as mentioned on the flyer and said that the menu was "old" and that the appetizers started at $7. I one again requested to speak to the promoter. After speaking to the promoter the bartender said that only the $6 appetizer were being sold for $5, which is not stated on the flyer which is BS. Next, the waiter told me that the margaritas and sangrias were NOT part of the happy hour. Of course I had to once again request to speak to the promoter because this was clearly stated on the flyer. Please be aware that only the first hookah is free and refills are $15, according to the person "in charge" aka the tall bartender. Our appetizer WERE NOT honored for $5 as stated on the flyer. Even when we decided to settle for the normal price, the pastelitos were on the menu for $7 for 3 pastelitos. The waiter brought out two orders with 3 pastelitos and two orders with 2 pastelitos according to him because some only come with 2, but the many states that it brings three. Scammers! The flyer also stated that female groups of 5 or more will receive a free bottle, which I absolutely asked for. I sent messages on Instagram to account and didn't receive and answer and decided to bash their page with their fake promotions. I later received a message stating that the promoter is a PR lady with kids who almost lost her job due to the comments.. how Ummmm I at fault because you lied about your business? Would never ever ever ever come back here. Take my suggestion and take your money to inwood bar & Grill where drinks and appetizers are $5 all night. Or go to Bronx Mamajuanaa on Thursday for free hookah all night. I also want to mention that my good friend came to this place for 5 de Mayo and was also not honored what was stated on the flyer. I came in on the down hours and I have to say, a bit quiet but that's actually what I wanted. I ordered the Jibarito - El Pollo. It was DELICIOUS! I still have the garlic mayo taste in my mouth as I type this. Needless to say, food was amazing. My waitress, Amanda, was a true peach. She was really pleasant and attentive. I really don't like writing bad reviews, and if you can tell by my other reviews, I'm usually a happy reviewer, so where do I start? We purchased a groupon deal, for 6 people, for 6 sangrias, 3 appetizers, and 6 entree's. It was a really good price, and I had been to Latin Kitchen previously, before they remodeled it, so we bought it. I called and made reservations and let them know it was a groupon deal. I wanted reservations for 8:30, but there was nothing available so the guy told me 8:45, and that we're late than more than 15 mins, they would give up our table. At 8:50 I'm parking across the street from the restaurant & I receive a call from the restaurant, & I tell her we're parking & that nwe'll be right in, she proceeds to tell me, "okay yea, because if you're not inside in the next 5 mins we have to give up your table because we're really packed". (Hmm kind of rude, but I let it go). We rushed inside, to find the restaurant EMPTY & not packed at all like the caller said. The hostess tells me to give her 5 mins, we wait 5 mins by the bar, she comes back & says give me another 10 mins, & we wait, & then at least another 10 mins. We sit down & show the waitress our groupon deal, & she tells us groupon deals aren't allowed after 9 & I tell her we made reservations before 9, & the that the person I made reservations w/ didn't mention that. She goes & talks to someone & says okay. okay get ready, from here it gets worse. Our groupon deal only said we couldn't order 3 things from the menu, which was fine. we begin to order & she tells us they don't have, the pasteles, or the empanadas with shrimp. Whatever, we get our appetizers & then order dinner. They didn't have any type of churassco or steak, she said they 'didn't have steak'. They didn't have 'The Navidad' which is their pork w/ a pastel, potato salad, Moro de guandules, and pernil. She told me they had the pernil & the rice but no potato salad or pastel. Someone else tried to order the chicharones de pollo sin hueso, & they didn't have that, they only had it with the bone. Oh, and also they didn't have any dish with shrimp, because there was "no shrimp"? I was tempted to tell the manager if he needed me to go to BJ's or Costco w/ them to stock up. Lets review this again, no shrimp, no steak, no pasteles, no potato salad, & no chicharones. So after we made our decisions based on the few items they did have, we waited & waited & waited & waited. Maybe an hour or so. Then the food arrived, & WOW! (That's not a good wow). I think their portions were meant for a 5 year old. I understand of some restaurants serving little meat, but if you're going to do that, at least distract it w/ serving more than 2 spoons of rice. The food was mediocre, I've had way better & I know I will never crave their food. A few little things to add, they didn't bring us water until AFTER we finished our food. Our waitress only came to our table to take our order & bring it. Not once did they come by to ask if we needed anything, or to ask how every thing was. Also, there was no toilet paper. These are little things that shouldn't happen on a Friday night, when its supposed to be most busy, which it wasn't. Finally, we finished our food, we just wanted to leave & we ask for our bill, and even that took long. I was really disappointed & had higher expectations based on the other reviewers. I guess it was because we had a groupon deal? which is sad because now we'll never go back & I'll be sure to let everyone know of our horrible experience. We wanted to stay local so my sister mentioned the Throggs Neck " Bridges", Went in and there were only much older people and empty. As soon as my girls met me there we decided to check out LATIN KITCHEN. Waitress was very nice. Decor was warm and elegant. They checked ID at the door, no cover charge. Its a restaurant and turns into a dance floor around midnight. Before then theres a DJ playing club music. I couldn't eat in peace because I just wanted to sing and boogie..lol The food was amazing and the music was amazing, best music?DJ that Ive heard in years....sigh..what a relief..... We had a 99th birthday celebration for my lady's grandmoms and considering there were about 13 of us, the service was as attentive as though there were just 2 of us. This place easily looks like it can be in Manhattan (and the prices definitely say this much) and I'm always wondering how they can justify this discrepancy with inexpensive cuisine like Puerto Rican, Dominican and/or Cuban. That said, ordering the "gran churrasco" steak was the most misleading description I ever got suckered by. I'm guessing the owners must think people in the Bronx don't know about churrasco steaks as few places serve it in the borough. The only thing "gran" about the churrasco was the $24 spent on a steak that was the size of a belt. Churrascos are supposed to overflow out of the skillet or plate. This didn't happen. So you're wondering why I still gave this place 4 stars? Here's why: The service was excellent, almost like we were the owner's family members..the rice and black beans were like nothing I've tasted in the Bronx....the complimentary garlic bread was smashed thin and dangerously tasty...the sangria had everybody in my family thinking they oughta go into rehab...they made abuela cry in glee upon the jibaro-style cumpleanos feliz performance, complete with guiros and all....and the owner thanked us like as though because of our patronage, he'll be able to stay in business....even though the place was packed to the gills by the time we left. Sometimes it is often best to listen to our intuition ("our inner "sixth sense") when navigating the road to culinary establishments. At times, there are things like "caloric value" that we may over look because we are on a "special night" out or perhaps offer other satiating excuses to overcome and relax our doubting inner voice. However, when we actually use our sense of vision and watch a program on the Food Network named Restaurant Stakeout detailing varied negative issues with a restaurant and still decide to patronize them, then we are either "Curious George" or that annoying guy (gal) that slows down to witness every crash on the road. On Friday, July 26, 2013, after attending a concert, my family and I decided to get some eats at this infamous restaurant. The restaurant is wedged between two other businesses but caught our attention by the flickering light emanating from within. Interestingly, there was an available parking space directly in front of the place. Once inside, we were greeted by our server and seated immediately. There was just one other party seated during our stay. The server took our drink order and returned shortly thereafter with our drinks. I had the Guava Mojito and my wife had the Pina Colada. The drinks were deliciously satisfying for both of us. We decided on the "Gran Churrasco" as our main course which is accompanied by white rice and black beans. Unfortunately, this is where the good turns to bad for us. The steaks arrived over cooked, dry, and chewy. The rice was served clumpy and sticky with the beans too watery. The service, however, was the stand out of the evening. They were very accommodating, polite, and quite timely. At this juncture, after enduring a jaw muscle work out with my steak, I have come to the realization that yes, I am sometimes curious and yes during my teen years, I have at times slowed down to witness some fender bender on the road. I had a groupon for this place for the longest which I was trying to use it before it expired. For the last three weeks before it expired, I called and tried making a reservation. Every time I called, they gave me the run around about why I couldn't come in. After 3 whole weeks, they finally gave me a reservation which was 4 days after the expiration date! They didn't honor the deal that I bought, instead they applied the value I paid for the groupon towards my bill (to me this is very bad business practice). I could understand if I waited until the very end to try and use it, but I was trying for 3 weeks. We ordered 2 sangrias which were pretty decent but the glasses were very tiny, I couldn't believe they actually charge $8 for such a small drink. The entree portions are also very small. The food was not great, but it wasn't bad either. My girlfriend enjoyed her shrimp dinner. For the prices they charge, I expect to get more food. The dining room is nicely lit and seems renovated, but was also small and cramped. Seems like their overall theme there is "small". All in all, I don't think I will be going back (with or without a groupon). read more

Let me first address the ambiance of this place; its wonderful. The music is great and the staff sang me happy birthday which was also really nice. However the food is extremely horrible, it taste like it's been in the freezer for years! I ordered a churrasco(steak) it was very small and also kind of cold. I like this place a lot. The food is flavorful, the maduroes are especially sweet which I like. You'll be greeted with a warm smile and cleavage. Just make sure you call beforehand, the place isn't always open. The food does take a bit to cook, but not too bad. read more

Drinks: Overpriced! Yes.. I must make an amendment to my nice review of a few eeeks back. The price for Wine is too high. Same for any other drink, and the glasses they serve you really make you feel as if you're being taken for a sucker. A $7.00 glass of wine is served in a glass that fits 4 ounces, with a long stem, and a small "bucket" for the drink.. At $7.00 dollars per glass of wine, you can get a bigger glass (8 oz.)and a better price at the Tremont Diner!! Having a few drinks at this place will take you into the POOR HOUSE! Latin Kitchen scores high marks for its food, decor, and ambiance. Love the plantains! Only eat them when I come here, so its always a treat. Their meat dishes have a tendency to be on the greasy side, but they are always flavorful with just the right amount of spices. As someone said earlier, the music can be too loud at times, and the service has ranged from so-so to good, if not exceptional. A wonderfull little local spot for the Bronxites in the ThroggsNeck area. Very nicely decorated inside. The food is traditional Puerto Rican/ Latin American fare. I disagree with the previous post with regards to price, overpriced compared to what White Castle. The food is good to very good depending on what you order. My only complaint was the house dressing for the salad with garlic and oil and wasn't tasty at all. I ordered an empanda of beef to start and the steak with rice and beans and they were pretty good. Aside from a nice Miami-ish deco there has not been any substantial improvement to the locale, but rather quite the few short comings. I first visited Latin Kitchen three years ago for a friend's surprise Bday party. All 12 girls were very satisfied overall with the place. The previous décor was elegant enough. Food was as delish and as Puerto Rican as they come, and the music was amazing. There was a DJ as well as a live band. If you're familiar with other restaurants that specialize in Puerto Rican cuisine, we called it the Bronx mini Sofrito. I recently visited to celebrate my daughter's 21st Bday. I thought it was the appropriate place to celebrate with a nice family dinner, as well as the perfect ambiance for my daughter and her friends to celebrate with music and drinks. Close to home and convenient to all. For starters, they place was empty on a Friday at 8pm. At least 3 items on the menu were not available to be ordered. The quality and presentation of the food was horrible and left nothing to be desired. I stopped by the bar/lounge a handful of times prior to the current remodeling but this was the first time dining in three years, and what a disappointment it was. At the end of the night there was an altercation involving the co-owner/manager, which obviously made everyone in my party feel very unsafe. From what I have heard through the grapevine, the co-owner/manager (heavy-set male) involved in the dispute that night, tends to bully patrons along with his thug friends. If you're looking for a nice place to dine and dance after in the Bronx....try Havanas, La Cocina Boricua, or Isla Verde you will not regret it. read more

I've been here twice. Once for a 10 year anniversary dinner/party and once for a buddy's bachelor party. Both times my groups were met with excellent service from the staff and an attentive owner that made sure everything was running smoothly. The bar in the front is a great place to have delicious food, grab a drink, and even watch a game. The back of the restaurant is the dining area that turns into the dance floor after dinner. All of the dishes my group ordered were spot on. Pernil, skirt steak, chicken stew, and talapia. Drinks were also delicious. I tasted someone else's Wet Willy and it was great. I went for lunch on a Sunday, when I walked in the place looked like it was in the middle of renovations, I almost walked out because it appeared closed and no one greeted us. I noticed the bar and shelves appear to be made of bare and painted plywood, which gives it the "in-progress"appearance. The place was empty except for people in the back, and some children who were either staff or family or both. The food took 40 minutes to come out...did I mention we were the only customers? The kitchen really needs to be expedited and streamlined-this just shouts unprofessional operation. The food was fine, the mofongo should have been crispier. The staff was very accommodating and both the bartender and the waiter were very-very concerned with our wait...staff ++++, appearance -1. The drinks were so bad, the sangria was super sweet then I ordered a mojito and it was the worse ever, my friend who is a bartender and is German blows them away with his mojitos. Then we waited 40 mins to get the food, the appetizers came together with the main course and the mofongo was nothing close to what we (latin american people) make, the steak was so bad, they put sort of a sweet sauce over it and it was overpriced. Thur nights are the hip night to hang out here. problem is the bar area makes for very little room to navigate to the back room as it gets packed very quickly. The good: I chose this place for a nice night out in the Bronx and did not regret it. It's a nice place in a nice neighborhood. I had no trouble finding parking and the staff is warm. I felt the food was decent and the prices were reasonable. The Bad: Some things are a bit overpriced but all in all not too bad. The waiter had to be called over by the hostess but ended up being a good guy. I started with an alcapurria which was decent and also had the papa rellena which I wouldn't recommend. The two entrees were 'pollo guisado' (good) and 'carne guisada' (a little dry). The sides were good but the yellow rice was a little lacking. The Kitchen's timing was a little off (I got some apps with the entrees) but I know that happens when a place is busy. Another slight problem is that the ambiance is affected a bit by the music being too loud. My beautiful date was a foot in front of me and it was a little hard to hear her. Me and my wife had a last minute Valentine's Day date and were wanted to take advantage of their special offer which was a shared appetizer, two Sangrias, and an entree for each for $60. We were very pleased with the service from the staff who made us feel comfortable. The Drinks hit the spot and so did the food. We also loved the mixture of music from Latin to classic R&B.
