I have put off in writing this review hoping that this place would have gotten their s@&t together and unfortunately it has not happened. There was a time when this place was an up and coming restaurant, a time when the food was incredibly well prepared, your orders were accompanied by a sense of pride and a side of salad however those days are gone. Ever since they shut down and reopened months later they have lost that special touch which at one point made this small gem of a place to visit. The food now has no flavor, simple things like bread and a salad no longer come with your meal. I just ordered a Chicharon de Pollo which was overlooked borderline burnt while my wife Shrimp Mofongo contained a total of 2 small shrimps and had a fowl odor. This is now the third time that I have ordered since they reopened and each time it's gotten worse, it is no surprise that on any given night this place is EMPTY when once upon a time there was standing room only. Those were the days. So long Latin Kitchen I am officially leaving you. read more

Latin Kitchen has a huge sign outside of the establishment that reads, "Happy Hour - 6 - 8 pm" My boyfriend and I decided to visit for happy hour with another couple on a Friday night after a long work week in order to unwind with food and happy hour drinks. We were there from approximately 6:30 to about 9 pm. During the happy hours we were ordering drinks knowing that it was during the happy hour window time. We all ordered appetizers and an entrée each. The whole time ordering mojitos during the happy hour. At the end of the night (around 9 pm) we asked for the check and received a bill for $254.00 for four people. We were charged $9.00 per drink (small mojitos and $6.00 each for 7 coronas) Mind you, we had ordered our last drink right before 8 p.m. when happy hour ended. We called the waiter over and asked him if there was a mistake, he then proceeds to inform us that happy hour was only for drinks at the bar, not at the tables. No where in the restaurant was anything visible stating such a thing. We asked to see the manager and he tells us that the ONLY thing he can do is offer us each one drink on the house. We informed him that the reason we came in was because of the huge sign outside of the restaurant claiming Happy Hour 6-8. He told us that the flyers said the it was only at the bar. We did not see the flyer anywhere. He then left us to go find a flyer, came back a couple of minutes later and showed us a flyer that was no where visible in the restaurant which showed that it was only at the bar. We informed him that we didn't come in with a flyer, but that we were lured inside by the great big sign outside of the restaurant and the waiter never mentioned to us that happy hour was ONLY at the bar. He could have mentioned it when he realized that were ordering drinks left and right, but he chose not too. The check also included at 18% gratuity of approx. $40, which was incorrect since gratuity can be added on to a bill if there are 6 or more at a table, there were only 4. We also asked to speak to a manager who NEVER came to the table. Again we were offered a free round of drinks. We argued the imposing of 18% gratuity and the waiter who couldn't do anything for us removed it. This restaurant is poorly run. The food was mediocre. We ordered breaded steak which was mostly bread. The steak was so thin that any thinner I would have had to be careful about getting a paper cut on my tongue. We will never again visit this establishment. We found them to be sneaky and unprofessional of a business establishment. A bill of $254.00 for four people is ridiculous. They choose to charge $9.00 for approx. 4 oz mojitos and $12.00 for breaded steak.....or should we say bread and a cold cut slice of steak. Don't bother going to this place, not worth it. read more

Latin Kitchen is GREAT! The food is phenomenal, flavorful and moderately priced. I have taken many of my out of town friends who enjoy the Latino flavor, the ambiance and the staff who are always very pleasant. It is a great place to meet some of the best looking Latino's from the Boogie Down Bronx. The only thing missing is adding surrullitos on the menu as a side dish or appetizer. read more

-Signed my bill at $125.11 and my credit card was charged $140. 36 called was told to go in --go in speak to manager who was not there on the phone --she said she will be in--in 1 hour and will call me back --never called me back -- bill had 15% tips already added-then they added another $15,15 gratuity after I signed the bill--I called today they told me to come in on Tuesday so they can refund me the money because they had to wait for their waitress to pay back the extra money she was given---WHAT --SERIOUSLY WHO DOES THAT--FALSELY CHARGING CUSTOMERS AND THEN MAKING THEM WAIT FOR THEIR MONEY BACK--OH AND NO ONE HAS APOLOGIZED YET---PLEASE RECONSIDER GOING THERE! read more

the food in L.K. is very good, wait time is is a bit long but the service is good,and the live band keep you from thinking how long you have been waiting, drink are well prepare. and even those they have a so space, when the music start play you feel like dancing. read more

Ok, so I used to live in Country Club and this is the only Puerto Rican Restaurant near by. The waiters are nice. The place is nice except for the fact that it's so dark! There are no windows which I HATE! I love a place where there is ventilation. The only ventilation is the front door. The food is good. The Flan is AWESOME! When I do go there I usually go during the day so that I can sit in the front (for air). I've been there once at around 7pm and they sat us in the back. It was a few of us and we were all having a conversation when BOOM they BLASTED THE MUSIC. I couldn't hear a thing after that. The music was good but, I hate having to scream to try to have a conversation with someone right next to me. It's a restaurant and the music really shouldn't be that loud. Maybe after 11pm but, not at 7pm. It really bothered me. There was a point when even the waitress seemed annoyed at the fact that she couldn't take orders because no one could hear anything. This place is under new management and is now called The Burger Bar. The food is disgusting! We ordered so much that I can definitively say that, the beef patties are most certainly store bought frozen patties, the bbq wings are just fried wings doused in cheap BBQ sauce, the homemade mac and cheese is just terrible, the cheese has the funniest taste perhaps it is, "ez cheese" as the man who reviewed below has noted. My husband, who is a burger aficionado, found his burger inedible due to whatever seasoning they use. He was horrified. I ordered chicken and waffles, the waffle tasted RANCID, i dont know how to explain it but the waffle was gross, it had this horrid taste as if the batter had somehow gone bad, I have never tasted anything like it. Needless to say, while the manager tried to smooth things over by sending another waffle over and I greatly appreciated that gesture, i will never order from there again. We didnt even allow him to send over another waffle because it would have been a waste of his time and resources, we didn't like anything. The food from top to bottom was just bad, we ended up throwing everything away, a waste of our hard earned money indeed! Completely, totally, undeniably, absolutely inedible. Most of their food left a very funny/strange aftertaste in our mouths. Their food may suit some people but for us, i can use no words other than disgusting and inedible. I want to start off by saying we loved our waitress Maria & she only went by what she was told to do. With that being said, I am so disappointed. I purchased a Groupon for this place & took a friend there for dinner. It states one appitizer up to $12 so we ordered the beef ptties 3for $7. We only received 2 & we were told because we are only 2 ppl that's what we get with the coupon but that's not the case. It's up to $12!! Then we ordered our food & I ordered the 2 pork chops but only received one & I was told it was because I had a Groupon but once again that's NOT the case because each entree was up $25 & 2 pork chops were only $15. I made them bring me the other one but by that time I was so aggravated I didn't eat it. If you are going to invite customers by advertising on these sites then at least be fair & don't take advantage of the people. I think of all the customers who are unaware that this is being done to them. I will add that I do not hold Groupon responible for the Latin Kitchens poor actions. I use Groupon very often & find them to have great customer service. read more

I was a bit skeptical as I had heard that Latin Kitchen's food was less than stellar. But they had a new location so I stopped in last Sunday and ordered takeout. They were out of Ropa Vieja so I ordered Pernil with yellow rice and habichuelas and an avocado salad instead. After a long wait for food (about a half hour), I got my bag and took it home. The pernil was excellent. In fact, it was one of the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot. The rice and beans were very flavorful! Let me add a note that they had a private party going on there that took up the whole restaurant save 3 tables, who were finishing up. So it may be that they were able to really devote attention to my food rather than slinging it out like they do on a usual night. Or maybe with the new location they got a new chef. Who knows? But my experience was surprisingly excellent. read more

I am writing this review based on only the lounge. I came here to celebrate my hubby's 27th birthday on saturday with close family and friends. We came around midnight and the place was pretty empty but by like 2 am it was already packed. I liked how there is no cover and the bottles are only $100 before midnight which is very rare to find at that price. They also have hookah as well. The place isn't that big but its descent enough where I had enough room to dance. On that particular night they had half naked girl dancers dancing on the bar. All the single guys were drooling over them lol. The music is mostly spanish but they throw in some hip hop and top 40 to make it somewhat versatile. The decor of the place is okay. Its basically all white sofas and tables. I enjoyed myself here. Overall if you want to dance the night away and enjoy an older, mature crowd this is definitely the place to be. read more

Latin Kitchen was recommended to me by a friend and I celebrated my 10 yr. anniversary with my lovely wife. We rented out the dinning area in the back which comfortably catered to 40 of our guest. The ambiance has the Miami feel to it. The staff provided excellent service to our guests and the music was amazing. We tip our hats to the wonderful chef whom delighted us with amazing dishes. Nothing but amazing compliments from our family and friends. We will definitely patronize this restaurant and recommend it to all friends. read more

I came to this establisment on June 7 with my friends. I was told it was a great place and that the owner was Puerto Rican & that she was the one who cooked all these delicious authentic P.R. food. I would like to say that some people don't know what real Puerto Rican food is suppose to taste like and how it's suppose to look like when it's cooked. I grew up in a very Puerto Rican home watching my mother who was from the 1900's, cook & prepare all these authentic P.R. dishes that she grew up cooking as well as teaching me. The smell in the home was so scrumptious that you would smell it from outside the hallway in which you knew it was coming from her house. Her alcapurrias & bacalaitos weren't drenched in oil like the ones I tasted here, the beans had no flavor or a taste of cilantro. My friend ordered a mofongo with pernil, which wasn't an authentic dish. It was simply monfongo with pernil on the side. We also ordered a flan which was nasty. It tasted like it had a touch of cinnamon, & it was thick & it was like a beige color, the caramel was watery. Nothing like my moms, which was a smooth creamy & caramelized & with a creme color. Therefore, from my own personal experience I cannot rate this place more than two stars. It's obvious that the person who does the cooking at Latin Kitchen is not Puerto Rican. read more

I went to this restaurant with my husband and another couple this past Friday thinking that we would be there for Happy Hour. They have a huge sign on the outside of the restaurant where it states that Happy Hour runs from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.So of course, under the impression that we were ordering 2 for 1 drinks we ordereded and we were floored when we got the bill. The bill came out to almost $250 for mediocre food and very small mojitos. My friend and her boyfriend ordered breaded steak that was thin and dry and their chicharron de pollo was dry as well. The waiter that served us completely failed to inform us that because we were sitting at the table we would not be getting Happy Hour prices. When we did question the amount he sent some other inept worker that tried to buy us off with a free round. On a good day--that might have worked but seriously why try to buy us off when it would have been easier to admit that you are falsely advertising your services to customers. The flyer that this so called waiter showed us clearly indicates that Happy Hour is from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. so now who is right? The best part is that they attempted to tack on 18% gratuity on the bill which would have been fine if there were six or more people sitting at the table--we were a table of four. He finally (reluctantly) removed the almost $40 in gratuity off of our bill. I regret that I told my friend about this place and feel badly that they lost out on so much money. Next time we'll go to Tosca's. Their food is better and so are their drinks. read more

Me and co workers planed a day to hang out together in the local area of our job,we were hoping to get a place that had food drinks ,music,and dancing,we where told to check Latin kitchen ,let me tell you the drinks where great,the food was good,and the music was pumping,had a blast,waitress nice and easy on the eyes ,after a certain time people got to dancing,I did not rate it higher because the place is small,and the food was just good,not great,but we still had a lot of fun,don't have no other place to go check it out you may like it more p.s. a lot of tech no music and latin music quite loud. read more

let me just say that I went here for my friends birthday and had a terrible experience, first off the food took about 45 mins to an hour to come out, so if youre hungry be prepared to wait forever, and it wasn't even like this was my first time here i been here one other time before and waited pretty long for my food so i guess this is just normal at Latin kitchen..the food was nothing to rave about it was ok i definitely have had better Spanish food at a cheaper price..what really got me mad is that i ordered a shot of Hennessy and it tasted nothing like Hennessy, i enjoy Hennessy on the regular so i know what it tastes like and that for sure was not Hennessy maybe a cheaper cognac.. and the people at the table next to us said that their Jack Daniels didn't taste like Jack Daniels either and that they heard that cheap liquor is substituted for top shelf liquor- save your money and stay far away from here! read more

I have passed by this restaurant many times and it looks very inviting from the outside, very neat with the Latin music playing from the inside. Today, Mothers Day, after having made reservations, I decided to take my mom there. We entered the location and there was no host/ hostess to greet us, or anyone for that matter, at a supposedly upscale restaurant. So I walked past the bar WITHOUT a bartender to the rear of the restaurant and approached a pretty Latin female to tell her I was there with a reservation. She quickly told me it would be about a twenty minute wait. So we decided to wait at the bar but we couldn't order anything because they had no one working the bar !! So twenty minutes past and then the woman came past us at the bar to get another group of people who were angrily waiting too long to be seated as well. I waited another ten minutes or so before I approached the woman again and she said that we couldn't be seated yet because she was waiting for a family seated in the front of the restaurant to finish so that we may be able to be seated. She even said they were taking TOO long and that she was going to ask them to leave ! Finally after all the wait she then decided to ask us if we wanted some sangria ! This was after about 35-40 minutes that we were there. I graciously refused and stated that we just wanted to be seated so that we can celebrate Mothers Day with my mom. After the family that she wanted to toss out had another bottle of sangria bought to their table I approached the female and asked to speak to the manager because I had had enough and wasn't going to wait any longer but wanted to complain about the horrendous service. This woman had then told me that she was in fact the manager !! I then told her why we were leaving and that we might have stayed if we could have had some drinks while we waited but there was no bartender. She then said that the bartender did not show up and that it wasn't her fault that there was no bartender ! I was stunned that that was her answer to me ! I then reminded her that she had just told me that she said that she was the manager and then I reminded her that it was her responsibility to make sure she had someone to man the bar in case of such a situation if she wanted to run a successful establishment. She then stated that she had been managing for two years and that she's never had a problem. I was surprised by that being that there were only four employees including her working the whole restaurant. She then just walked away. I also recently read that this place was featured on Restaurant Stakeout from the Food Channel because of how badly this place was being run. And interestingly enough they had this being broadcast on one of their tv's by the bar. So, in closing this place has HORRENDOUS service and I IMPLORE anyone who values their time not to waste their time coming to this horrible restaurant. Was at this neighborhood restaurant last night with my son who was visiting from Washington DC. Clean, Decorated in white, carpet on steps did not match the new decor and need's to be replaced. Service was adequate; although for a restaurant that is trying to provide an ambiance of excellence in latin cuisine the table settings leave much to be desired. Plates are basic white corning ware and move around on the table when you are trying to cut the food. The food was nothing like the reviews I read before deciding to try this delicious food. We were served salad drenched in salad dressing. My son had grill shrimp and I had the Yankee. The best part of this meal was the yuca fries my son had on his plate. The seafood promise on the yankee looked like a pile of overcook vegetables although when you chewed on them it was like chewing gum. The churrasco steak part of the $30 dollar featured The Yankee was a very good cut of meat poorly prepared and drenched in very oily sauce. The result I was in the bathroom all night with vomiting an diarreah. Would not recommend the food even to my worst enemy. This restaurant should be promoted as a club with good drinks($10), great music/sound system and good munch on food for drinks( Yuka fries). read more

Overall I would give it 3.5 stars. Here are the reasons: Food 4 stars, atmosphere 3 stars, prices 3 stars, service 2 stars. The food was very good and I don't usually give places 4 stars for food quality. The only con was that portions were a little small. The atmosphere was like a disco. It felt like we were in a night club room with dinner tablets at the center of the floor. The prices were reasonable, but I thought the deserts were overpriced. And they did not taste anything close to what was expected based upon the price. The service was very very slow, so be prepared to wait. It took twice as long to order the food than the food to arrive. And the problem can easily be fixed. All they need to do is add other waitress. So overall I suggest you try the place. You will not be disappointed with the taste and quality of the food. However, be prepared to wait longer than normal to place your food order. However, the salsa music in the background should take your mind of the time. read more
