    Calamari
    Casey R.

We opted to try something new for a date night unfortunately I was disappointed. The 2 star rating is valid. The calamari we had was too salty. The restroom was very off putting. Security was cool and the waitress was cool but the negatives had us cut our dinner date night short.

I normally don't leave reviews, but after the experience my family and I had on Mother's Day, everyone needs to hear about this lol. We arrived for our 2:30 reservation and let the hostess know we were there. Instead of being seated, we were awkwardly directed to the bar while there were multiple empty tables available. By almost 3:00, we were still wondering why we hadn't been seated while other groups who came in after us were getting tables first. The bartender was actually the one who noticed we had been ignored and asked if anyone had taken our order yet. We told her we hadn't even been seated. Thankfully, she stepped in and helped. Once we finally got to our table, it took another 20-25 minutes before our waitress came over. I understand she appeared to be the only server working, so I don't blame her personally, but the restaurant seriously needs to make sure they're properly staffed, especially on a busy holiday like Mother's Day. The drinks and food took forever to come out. If you're offering unlimited brunch drinks, customers should actually be able to get refills in a reasonable amount of time. There was honestly no point in paying for bottomless drinks when we barely saw refills. At that point, just leave a pitcher at the table. The food portions were also disappointing. The appetizers barely had any food on the plates, and the Rasta pasta came with maybe two tiny pieces of chicken thrown on top. I've had Rasta pasta many times before, and this definitely was not it. What really made the experience worse was the customer service from another staff member , the woman with the very obvious botched BBL. She came over asking if she could clear things from the table and whether we needed anything. I politely asked for another mimosa refill for my mom because she had literally been sipping the same drink since we arrived around 3 ish it was 5:30 when we were asked this. She then came back asking if we wanted the bill. I reminded her that I had just asked for a refill, and her response was, "I can't do that, we have to take this somewhere else. I have to seat other people and your time is up" Excuse me? Then our actual waitress came over and clarified that our time wasn't even up yet and that we still had 25 minutes left. Clearly nobody there was communicating with each other because moments later the same woman came back AGAIN telling us we needed to get up because she had to seat other people. The way she spoke to us was incredibly rude and unprofessional. No customer should be approached like that, especially after already waiting forever for service the entire visit. Overall, horrible organization, poor communication, slow service, disappointing food portions, and disrespectful customer service. Definitely not the Mother's Day experience we expected

I especially enjoyed the surprise tartar sauce on the burger. I'm usually a sauce on the side kinda girl, and never have had tartar sauce on a beef burger. 10/10 recommend. However, I do also suggest noting the sauce on the menu so that there are no surprises for picky customers. Truffle fries were cooked to perfection. My table also ordered a lobster roll and wings. Every dish that was an astonishing presentation. The shrimp arrived glistening, its sweetness lifted by a tangy white sauce that demanded dipping and spreading. The lobster roll was a masterclass....chilled, yes, but each bite was full of juicy, sweet lobster meat, the mayo proportion on it was my fav on that dish. But the best part of house was the steak dish, truly breathtaking with the sauce. Didn't really try the mussel pasta or the fruit salad due to allergies, but others at the table who had it really enjoyed it. Proportions were great. The ambiance is a cute restaurant near/on the pier. Truly appreciative that it is an accessible restaurant with wheelchair ramps. The joy of lingering over good food with good and some familiar yelp folks was just the highlight of it all.

Our drinks arrived promptly, I will say there was some inconsistency in how our drinks were mixed since one of the vanilla drinks was sweeter than the other but other than that all drinks were delicious. The chef comes from the world of high-end NYC dining, and you can feel that experience in every detail of the food. There's a level of creativity, precision, and thoughtfulness here that honestly feels Michelin-worthy. This makes sense, because the restaurant has earned that recognition. Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. It feels curated by people who genuinely care about food and drink, not just running another restaurant. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of detail most restaurants would never even think about. Archie's is a true hidden gem and proof that truly exceptional food can exist in places you wouldn't expect.

Whether one's in the mood for a cozy family dinner or a casual get-together with friends. Sitting on the banks of the Hudson River in Edgewater, my partner, our friends, and I decided on a celebratory dinner at the Haven Waterfront Restaurant & Bar. A reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon arrival as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table immediately by the window inside their floor-to-ceiling dining room, evoking a relaxed yet upscale vibe. Their menu specializes in American/Mediterranean cuisine influenced by seafood, steakhouse, and pasta. For appetizers, we decided on Short Rib Crostini, Kumamoto Oysters, and Yellowin Ahi Tuna Tacos. Our main consisted of Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass, 7 oz Prime Cut Filet Mignon, Bangkok Roasted Duck Breast, Lenny's Lobster Pasta, Crispy Lyonnaise Potatoes, and French Butter Asparagus. We even saved room for dessert and got the Bailey's Crème Brûlée and Assorted Dessert Tasting for two. We washed them down with I Dream of Lychees Martini, Berry White Spritz, and Haven Espresso. Complimentary bread with softened butter started our meal. The food is presented like art, and the portions varied depending on what one ordered. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it and fair considering the quality. Our server, Juan, was friendly, accommodating, and took the time to answer all of our questions, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Since gratuity is automatically included for larger parties, it made the experience even more disappointing. As for the food, several dishes lacked seasoning, including the lobster mac & cheese, salmon, braised short rib, short rib ragu, and lobster croquettes. Our group spent almost $1,400, so unfortunately, we expected more from both the food and service. The views and ambiance are lovely, but based on our experience, I wouldn't return.

The food was done within 15-20 minutes and we loved everything we ordered. Everything tasted authentically Cantonese, not spiced or super flavorful. Just your basic, comfort food. Exactly what we needed on our drive home. This place is located in an okay neighborhood area, but we didn't have time to sit down and eat. There's limited seating. We saw a lot of people waiting for takeout. The food was so hot and tasty when we picked it up. We got: BEEF TERIYAKI STICKS So tasty, cooked well with a slight char to it and seasoned enough to give it flavor, but nothing overwhelming. CRAB RANGOON These were so crispy and creamy, so freaking good with lots of crab and cream cheese with every bite. FRIED CHICKEN WINGS These chicken wings were GOOOOD! Perfectly fried crispy outside and juicy chicken inside. The flavoring of the outside was very flavorful and made every bite so satisfying. Wish we got an additional order! SAUTÉED STRING BEANS This is a comfort food for me, just your basic green beans sautéed in super light soy sauce and garlic. YUMMMM! BEEF CHOW FUN Another comfort food of stir fried beef and bean sprouts. So tasty and the rice noodles were perfectly fried and chewy. PORK FRIED RICE This pork fried rice was super tasty, but different. The rice was more pilaf which I absolutely loved and there was so much barbecued pork in it. Wasn't saturated in soy sauce which is how it normally comes, a really light and tasty fried rice. HOT & SOUR SOUP I love hot and sour soup and this was sooo good. It wasn't too sour, flavored and spiced just enough to check all the boxes and left me wanting another bowl full! Spent over $50 and got a free 2-Liter soda too! From picking the perfect farm to order the duck from in PA, to purchasing the machinery for churning out the sauce from the bones and internals of the duck, to incorporating different aspects of duck preparations from different cultures (French Normandy, Chinese roast duck) and teaching to Daniel in the city for some tips. You know Yvan has put his heart and soul into this one dish. I love how this dish is prepared table side by the chef himself with so many different stories and presentations.
