I really wanted to give this place a good review. Manish provided incredible service. We'd barely made it to the table before he arrived with menus. The cocktails he made us were amazing. He made multiple trips to the kitchen to check on whether any of the dishes we wanted were gluten free. The kitchen assured him they were. The kitchen lied. The corn dip ISN'T GF. I was sick for two days...the first two days of Comic Con. I couldn't leave the house because I was so sick. We'll never set foot in here again. And we'll tell everyone else to stay. We came in ( 2 couples ) for a bite so bartender told us where to sit and to get up and order from bar. ok np. The menu was large with pictures so we decided to order tacos which were expensive $22 for 3 small tacos. We were getting a vibe that the servers were not in a good mood but anyway the plates came and there were only 2 tacos on ea plate. We called over the server, showed him the menu and he said he would be right back. Too bad, so sad, they said its 2 tacos only. They were snotty, they ripped us off and it felt awful but we stayed !were completely unhappy the whole time. The menu had 3 ! also super expensive but hey. Then they gave us 2 and said too bad. "New Furniture Makes It More Comfortable " We went back to the Latitude Lounge in the Marriott Hotel and had another nice experience. They have put in all new Bar and Table chairs which were very comfortable and looked nice. We met Matthew who had only been working at the Bar for 3 days. Matthew was was nice and was hustling around learning and helping everyone. We had the Happy Hour special Double Patty Cheeseburger with fries. We also enjoyed some $6.00 Well drinks which were also good. We met and talked with the Restaurant Supervisor Michael Rotunno. Michael is very nice to talk with and is always hustling around the entire restaurant and bar area making sure everything is OK with all of the customers. read more

Came into the latitude lounge about 30 minutes before the Super Bowl started and had no trouble bellying up to the bar right in front of a giant flatscreen. Although my friends decided to drink their lunch, I opted for the New York blackened steak salad. The salad was amazing. It came with avocado sun-dried tomatoes and baby greens coated with a light and flavorful dressing. There was a generous portion of steak which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. They have a separate dessert menu with lots of delectable treats. I ordered the baby chocolate cake. The bartender did give me a strange look when I asked her if there were real bits of baby in it lol. It was a molten chocolate cake with a condensed cream sauce along with fresh berries and vanilla bean ice cream. They also offer after dinner drinks like super aged port wines. I knocked off one star for the smoke that was billowing in from the lung cancer candidates out on the patio. It started bothering us after a while especially having to smell it while we are eating. The service here was amazing. Our bartenders name was Tiffany and she was going non-stop with a smile on her face the entire time and a great attitude. If you decide to drive and park in downtown, I say you park at the Marriott valet. It's FREE if you spend $25 at Latitude. Uh, a steal! Because you would pay $10-$15 for parking anyway and get nothing out of it. We came for the baseball game and it was happy hour at Latitude. $5 for wells, $5 for domestic drafts, and $5 shots! Totally worth it. 5 people, 5 drinks =$25 well spent! Covered for parking, and went to a good cause that we would have spent $0 on one beer at Petco park! Saved us a bunch pre-drinking here. We also got to go up to their "sister" bar, Altitude. There weren't any food happy hour deals, which I was bummed after a hard day of work and no food--straight to alcohol it is. And their wells isn't like the cheap ass alcohol. Vodka well was like Skyy, and not like Pavlov or something nasty. The place wasn't busy. Next time you're going to park for a ball game and want to predrink, take it to the Marriott valet and spend $25 here (easily, that's 5 drinks!) read more

Really overpriced and the food was 'average' at best. We've eaten at Soleil K before so we figured we'd try Latitude's food (I had called awhile back and bartender said that if you order entree and app you can get your parking validated). My cousin and I ordered: 1. Cream of Lobster Soup (I think this was from Soleil K menu): $12. Too expensive for what was served. Soup was a bit salty. 2. Baby Spoon leaf Spinach Salad (I think also from Soleil K menu): $10. Very very average salad. 3. Rock Shrimp and Avocado Flatbread : $16. Are you kidding me? $16?? It was a long wide cracker w/ shrimp and avo. Not a lot of flavor or taste. Drinks: 1. Champagne Raspberry Mojito: $11. My cousin said drink was extremely sweet and there wasn't all that much champagne in there. 2. Mojito (regular) : $10?. It was ok, not the strongest pour. We went on a Thurs night. The bar was empty. There was maybe a group of 4 having appetizers. The actual bar area is comfortable thou. Nice big flat screen tvs. Bartender was nice. When we paid, she said that Latitude doesn't validate parking anymore but she would validate this time for us. She said that only if you eat at Soleil K and order food will they validate. I told her that I had called maybe a wk ago and someone said that Latitude does validate as long as you order certain amount. She shook her head and said 'well ppl keep giving different responses'. She said minimum order at Soleil K to validated is 1 entree per person. It's odd b/c we ordered items off both Soleil and Latitude's menu and definitely spent enough money. I think as long as you spend a certain minimum in either restaurants, you should get your parking validated. Anyhow, I would probably not come back for their food. I did hear that their happy hour prices are great (maybe 1/2 off certain items?). This place is worth a try to get a drink before heading upstairs to Altitude or to another gaslamp location. read more

I have stayed at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp on many, many occasions while visiting home in San Diego, however, it was not until I wasn't a guest at this hotel that I finally came to Latitude Lounge. While attending Comic Con, I was looking for a place to cool down, have a drink and people watch in shifts with my hubby while we were waiting in line to get into the Game of Thrones experience. Yes, I'm nerdy and I like it. ;) Latitude Lounge was directly across the street and looked inviting. There is a large lanai out front with a variety of tables and chairs. The bar itself is an open concept with more tables and chairs, and lounge furniture to choose from. The bar seats are high top with a back rest for comfort. (I can't stand barstools. I will sit at a bar much longer if the stools have a back rest providing some support - kudos Marriott/Latitude for having functional design sense.) There are also a couple of cozy chairs next to a power outlet to charge up if need be! Latitude Lounge as a full bar and a specialty cocktail menu. Though there were a lot of great options, I new exactly what I wanted on this hot day so I described it to the bartender and she politely whipped it up - Vodka (Kettle or Titos) with muddled mint and raspberries, tiny bit of simple syrup or agave, topped with lemonade, shake and pour. It was perfect! And so refreshing! Came back the next day and it was even busier. They only staffed one bartender on that day but he handled that bar like a boss and appeared so calm and pleasant while doing it; although I'm sure it was incredibly stressful to be understaffed like that. Guests were patient and still received their drinks in reasonable time. The bartender's name was Angel, and now that I think of it, it's a very suiting name for the grace and ease which he provided excellent customer service in what could have been a havoc reeking situation. I'll definitely return to Latitude Lounge. It's the perfect place to cool down on a hot day, watch the bustling streets of Downtown San Diego and it's conveniently located around the corner from Petco Park. They also serve food which consisted burgers, sandwiches, wraps and a salad. I'd love to see more finger food on the menu for folks who want nibbles opposed to meals. (Perhaps it was a limited menu due to Comic Con.) Don't be like I was originally and write off this bar because it's located inside a hotel. It has all the character, charm, and convenience of a neighborhood bar and is a great watering hole for locals and tourists alike in the Gaslamp area. read more

We were watching a Padres and Angels game upstairs that was headed to extra innings so we came here. We sat down and watched a few more innings without ordering anymore drinks and surprisingly, no one bothered us. They offer a valet special (free if you spend $25), but we actually found free parking a few blocks away on a Sunday! read more

I came here with some friends after a game at Petco because it was in close vicinity of the park and wasn't SUPER busy. It looked pretty pricey but we decided to just go with it and just get a few drinks. Here's are my observations: 1. Service was good, but a little slow. Our bartender was SUPER nice and made really good drinks, but she was the only bartender for most of the night and it got PRETTY busy, so we had to wait a little longer than usual. 2. Atmosphere is pretty nice. They have stools at the bar, but also lounge tables and chairs and an outdoor patio. It's also decorated very nicely. 3. Crowd: kinda older, probably hotel guests? 4. Drinks prices: KIND of dumb. We paid what I would expect for downtown for cocktails ($7 for a goose martini, $7 for a jameson&ginger), but the beer was ridiculous!! $7 for yellowtail and $8 for stella? WHAT?! 5. Bathrooms: You have to walk into the hotel to get to the bathrooms, but mannnn, they are bougey!!! Their disposable hand towels are so soft and awesome :) I enjoyed my time at Latitude, but it was kind of pricey and service was a little slow. There, now that I've dummed it down, I'll say that the service and atmosphere at Latitude does not reach the high levels (get it?? lol) of Altitude, but nonetheless, it's still a nice little spot to stop in and have a drink. Pros: Outside and open area bar. Fantastic for San Diego weather GREAT service. Our bar hostess was very attentive and personable! Cons: Menu was less than exciting. We got half-price on flat-breads during happy hour which was light and tasty. However, I would feel terribly ripped off if I paid $16-$18 for a fancy piece of bread with some cheese. Summary: Go for happy hour. Then when altitude opens, head to the rooftop bar and enjoy the view. read more

If Altitude is the older more sophisticated brother then Latitude is the younger slutty sister who only dates dumb jocks. I can't even consider this place a gastropub because the food is not good. The quality is ok, but the selection, ingenuity, creativity, just bad. You're not drawing anyone I with your food Latitude. Great location with enough bar and enough pub atmosphere for me. Strong drinks and a healthy selection of cocktails, you might want to head here to get your buzz on get dressed to go out, stop back here before you go upstairs to Altitude. read more

I've eaten dozens of meals here the past couple years. Marriott has a Brew Package which includes free valet parking, 2 free beers and $20 food voucher for each night of stay. I love the ceasar salad here. That's my go-to "healthy" dinner. The seared tuna salad is also great. Other dishes I've tried: -- Calamari was good. Love the warm marinara sauce. -- Chips and salsa is an awesome starter. They keep the chips warm and the salsa is home-made with some kick! -- Jidori chicken was good but not great. -- Salmon was excellent. -- Cobb salad was good but I prefer crispy lettuce so I would opt for ceasar. -- Steamed clams were good. Love the broth! -- Reuben is huge! Good for sharing. Plenty for two. -- Flatbread pizzas are great! Nice crispy crust with fresh toppings. -- Fish tacos are cooked perfect. They are wrapped in double tortilla so I unwrap one of them. I tried few other dishes as well. Just about everything here tastes good. Sit at the bar if you want prompt service. There is usually only one bartender so if you sit at a table, you may not get served. read more

Not a lot of of bars/lounges exist in DT that offer the convenience this place does. Located in the midst of the many nice hotels on 6th Ave, this is a great walk-in joint to catch a glimpse of the game while grabbing a quick bite to eat or while having a drink. Pretty solid happy hour menu. I only ever order the Kobe Beef sliders and would recommend anyone else do the same. 'Best sliders in San Diego' is an understatement. Order it with a side of the sweet potato fries and enjoy their amazing dipping sauce (still cant put a finger on what exactly it was comprised of). They also offer an outdoor patio area with heat lamps. Great place to people watch while you eat. Overall, great food, no wait, and very convenient. read more

Just visited this place the other day around noon and I was not impressed at all. The place is small and cramped. The waiter was good and attentive to our needs. I ordered the fish tacos which were probably the worst fish tacos I have ever had. Skimped on the fish big time and white sauce had zero flavor. Wife ordered a pizza which she said was good. I juut can't get over how bad the tacos were to give them more than a 2 star rating. This is an easy dish to get right but I probably will not be back to try it anytime soon. read more

Have visited here a number of times and Latitude never fails to satisfy. First, I will say its a bar in a hotel so it is priced accordingly, but keeping that in mind its still pretty good! Had the pretzel bites and the buffalo wings, along with an Old Fashioned. Pretezel bites are amaze-balls!! I mean seriously--tiny soft pretzels drenched in butter and garlic???!!! All thats missing is bacon. Wings were good, too. Bar staff is friendly and attentive. Tiffany makes great drinks that go perfectly with her great smile. Chris is the consummate professional, also. Whether you're watching a game or pre-gaming for Altitude, this bar is worth a visit. My only major complaint is the bar stools. Please-- get something with padding!!!! read more

I ordered a top shelf margarita on the rocks in the biggest glass they had as I was taking it to my room. Broke all records for amount paid for a margarita, $18. But oh was it the best. Next day after staying there at the hotel, Jay my bartender was back to make up for it by again making me a great margarita, only this time giving me the happy hour price plus 2 bucks for the grand marnier, it was yummy and took the disappointment off my Cowboys losing to San Diego's Chargers. Jay was friendly and not conceited as some of the staff from the hotel. We sat inside then moved outside to smoke still able to see the game, and I had one of those, oh life is good moments sitting there hangin out with my best friend and husband. read more
