The crab cakes were packed with flavor and had the perfect crust. The mini pot pies were hands down one of the best appetizers we've had in a long time. My husband didn't say more than five words after his short ribs showed up because he was too busy cleaning his plate. And don't even think about skipping dessert. We were already completely stuffed and still managed to finish every bite. Zero regrets. Finding a restaurant that's consistently good is hard. Finding one where the food, service, and overall experience all hit the mark is even harder. This one absolutely delivered. Stopped in for lunch. Beautiful restaurant. Linen tablecloths. A previous review said it was super small. No....no it wasn't. Even with high ceiling the room felt cozy....intimate. The menu was fairly priced and interesting choices. We enjoyed the tempura cauliflower as an appetizer and the smash burger was really great. My beet arugula salad was very good but the grilled chicken...just ok. The bar was pricey. We will definitely come back to the Luna Bar Bistro. read more

Celebrating my son's birthday. What a find! The best full-rounded meal that I have had in a very long time. A very welcoming, clean restaurant with excellent service, great food, and great menu selection. A well thought-out layout and menu. The lobster bisque, lump crab cakes, and truffle fries were excellent! As was the brussel sprouts and grilled chicken sandwich. They also gave my son a complimentary dessert for his birthday. He chose the lemon, blueberry mascarpone cake with vanilla ice cream which was phenomenal! We will return. A truly memorable lunch. read more

This was our experience for our 16th wedding anniversary. Absolutely will never go back. I'm giving more than one star because our server was very nice and the live music was great. Just so you're prepared, this place is tiny inside. I've seen bigger barber shops or nail salons. It does help that someone did a good job decorating to give some ambiance. Don't expect the Seabass presented the way you see in the picture with the red sauce. They've changed it. It now sits on carrots and mashed potatoes which would have been fine if it tasted any good. I've never tasted Seabass that is so fishy tasting and total sloppy mush in your mouth. That may sound ridiculous to some of you but some fish tastes fish forward and some does not. My wife ordered the Seabass (which was an incredibly small piece looking nothing like the picture) and doesn't like a fish forward taste which is why Chillean Seabass is a good choice for her. I don't mind fish forward seafood. I took a bite of it and it turned my stomach. I had the lamb chops with root vegetables and swapped out the risotto for garlic mash. I had to keep salting and trying the lamb chops, the root vegetables and the extremely greasy mashed potatoes over and over again to try and get some flavor. Amazing experience at Luna!! Saw an advertisement for it on social media and made the drive out-- so worth it and so glad we did! We came with a group of people so we ordered a bunch of things to share and try. Despite this, our food was paced out well by our server and the portions were sized perfect. Wyandotte is known for having the best "Downriver" restaurants, but Luna Bar Bistro is easily one of the best in the entire State of Michigan. If you've eaten at The Vault or Iron Gate, and haven't been to Luna Bar, you are missing out on the crown jewel of the Dotte. My wife and I made reservations for 7pm on Tuesday for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted and seated immediately by Brittany, who was also our server. Brittany made us feel welcome from the minute she gave us her big smile, and we were seated in the beautiful dining room at a two-top with a great lamp for reading the menu. We ordered the house cab, which was perfect and reasonable at $32. We aren't wine snobs, and just enjoy having a relaxing bottle together with no interruptions from the kids. My wife chose the 8oz filet, medium rare, and I chose the Chilean Sea Bass. The fish was cooked so perfectly it's almost indescribable. A semi-encircling crust that encapsulated the flaky, moist whitefish was perfect. The mashed and haricot vert were equally well presented and delicious. The filet : cooked perfectly with a rub that crusted around the most tender medium rare cut of beef, with a peppercorn zip sauce that was creamy with enough bite to make your mouth water. The square, shaved potatoes had Parmesan between the layers and were cooked and then fried to perfection, as well. The dessert. Holy shit. What a perfect ending. Limoncello cheesecake with pistachio crust and ice cream?! Yes please. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet chef Steve and he even sent us home with some rub so I could attempt to duplicate his steak. (Not happening but I'll try) There were two other couples in the restaurant with us, so it was a light service. We all interacted as one couple was celebrating their two year anniversary, and the other couple directly next to us had been married for six years. After asking our advice on making it 12 years, and sharing stories and laughs about raising kids, unbeknownst to us they PAID FOR OUR MEAL before leaving. That has never happened to me before in my life, and actually brought my wife to tears. To say this was an unforgettable anniversary dinner would be a massive understatement. We will be lifelong patrons of Luna and look forward to live music on Friday and Saturday nights!!!! (And next time we are BOTH getting the filet) read more

First off, it's no "bistro". Bistros, by definition, are basically in-formal than upscale establishments (which this place appears to try and pass itself off as) and are meant to be simple, welcoming, and easy-going. The food was ok, but not for the prices they charge. Don't bother ordering the truffle fries for the extra six bucks; they are not worth it. At the end, we ordered the chocolate cake dessert to-go; the serving very small for the amount they charge. Again, not worth it. Their website states "Downriver Dining Redefined". It's just another over-priced place to eat. You are largely paying for the "faux" upscale atmosphere. The owners seem to forget the fact that this is a Wyandotte community, not Grosse Pointe. Other people seem to like it, per the other Yelp posts, but we will never go back. I recommend going to the newer Latitudes restaurant down the street (formally Portifino's). Nice atmosphere, better food value, and great view of the river. read more

Well,, we finally found our FAVORITE quiet place for lunch or dinner. My friends and I wanted to try Luna and truthfully, it didn't disappoint us. The ambiance was perfect for us. We could hear each other's voices without screaming or talking loud. Our server, Aurora was wonderful. she didn't bother us constantly but was there when we needed her. The food was wonderful. I had the Gnocchi in Brown Butter Sauce, (I'll be back for that! )the chicken piccata looked wonderful. The birthday dessert was normal size , NOT just a sample of a piece of cheesecake like other new restaurants in the area. We appreciated that the owner stopped by our table as well. Really great experience, food was tremendous! Service was great and we really needed it that day. Ambiance was nice too, it was empty when we got there at about 5p on a Saturday, but it's a small place - it started filling up later into the meal but for a while we had the place to ourselves! We visited on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. I had been wanting to try for some time now and for my birthday, my choice. Ambiance was beautiful - white table clothes, nice place settings/glass, etc. Cocktails were tasty and presented well. The food - was average/fair. Seemed a few of the dishes were not fresh (one thought last nights leftover warmed up). It could have been the short staffing we heard mentioned at another table and food was waiting. Unsure. What an absolute Jem, off the beaten path has a water view. Perfect little patio just a simple and elegant place to dine. Wednesday's half of great bottles of wines, seal of a deal. We did not eat dinner but we made reservations to sit at the bar, we did 4 appetizers instead. OMG everything single thing from the lobster bisque to the homemade CRAB CAKES get the cakes was absolutely delicious above an beyond. I love the fact Friday and Saturday night live music to add just more class. Luna didn't disappoint! We took our family to Luna Bistro for dinner and we left extremely satisfied. The ambiance was stunning and the service was efficient. We started with the delicious calamari and crispy Brussel sprouts. My daughter ordered and loved the Luna Wedge salad. For dinner, I ordered the Luna Chicken and was impressed by how tasty it was. My family all went with either the juicy ribeye or 8oz filet which was incredibly tender. They were cooked to perfection! And the icing on the cake were their desserts! We went with the fried Oreos (OMG) and the blueberry mascarpone cake. They were both delicious to say the least! I think you can rest assured my family will be regulars at Luna Bistro! read more

My husband and I went last night and we both agreed that this was the best meal we've had in any restaurant in I don't know how long. I had the salmon and my husband had the short rib and both were to die for. Whomever the chef is knows his craft. Food cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, and tastes beyond anything I've had in a long time, flavors wise it was just delicious. The service was excellent, more importantly, the OWNER filled water glasses, checked on each table, asked how our food was and this impressed us. The entertainment, a gentlemen on the piano and the gentlemen singing had a voice you just don't hear anymore. Soft jazz and music that is perfect for dining.
