Initially had some issues with seating where they seated us (party of 4) at a table that was only suited for a party of 3. One of the main hostesses was able to quickly fix the issue by moving us to a larger, comfortable booth (thank you for that!) The dishes we ordered to share: - Truffle Fries: Super crispy. Well seasoned with truffle and Parmesan. 5/5 - Spicy Salmon Tartare: A bit fishy in my opinion. The dressing was decent. I think it would be better with a citrus dressing. 3/5 - Chicken Wings: Standard, although the wings were a bit dry. Parmesan garlic paired well. 3.5/5 - Short-Rib Pappardelle: the winner of the night! You can tell the pasta was made fresh in house. The pasta itself was so thin that it really soaked in the flavor. The short rib was really tender and well seasoned. 5/5 - Margherita Pizza: oven-fired pizza. Can't go wrong with Margherita! The ratio of sauce and cheese were great. 5/5 - Duck Fried Rice: a little heavy on the seasoning/salt but still a great rice dish. I would say it's more like kimchi fried rice with some pieces of duck. 4/5 - Cocktails: great drinks! Definitely very strong but well curated. Overall, I love it here and will continue to come back. Things to expect when visiting Laurel Hardware: great vibes, great food, great service. Every experience of mine has been excellent. From the outside, looks like nothing more than a closed hardware shop, but the inside is beautiful. They have a large covered and uncovered patio in the back. I'd definitely recommend making reservations, but plenty of bar seating for small parties. Their menu rotates a little throughout the year, but everything is tasty. Small & large plates, pastas, pizzas and salads. I enjoy doing tapas style and sharing everything. This week we ordered meatballs, duck fried rice, and margarita pizza. Give Laurel Hardware a try! Laurel is one of my favorite LA spots. The ambience is outstanding and the wait staff are attentive and friendly. Among my favorite small dishes are the arugula salad, pepperoni pizza, duck fried rice and chicken wings. However, I'm noticing that over the years, the amount of chicken wings is smaller while the price has increased. And while I prefer small sized wings, the ones I had recently were down right tiny and bony. read more

Hadn't been to Laurel for quite a few years but always used to enjoy it and am definitely glad I revisited. Food was great and actually generous portioned which surprised me. I got the browned butter squash pasta which was fantastic flavor. Everybody loved their order and we split a creme brûlée desert which did not disappoint. The back patio with the lit trees is such a beautiful atmosphere so I'd love to come back to be seated outside for that feature sometime. We made a reservation after what was a disastrous dinner experience (or lack there of) at Casa Madera. We came in, sat at the bar and shared some laughs with PJ the amazing bartender!! While it was a special evening to celebrate my birthday and things didn't go as planned, he certainly did his part to make the most of it and end on a high note. It was so gorgeous out on the patio (which gets covered when it's raining fyi) so you can still have outdoor seating if desired. The service was great! Trendy spot you can come casually or you can come more dressed up just depends on the entire group you're with. Reservations are needed if you get there early enough for happy hour however if you're going to come with a big group or at a very popular time pass to make reservation. They have happy hour from 5 to 7. Always very reliable the food is good the drinks are good. The gangster is my favorite on the happy hour menu. I did take ones far away because it always gets very crowded inside and uncomfortable walking to the bathroom with so many people standing there. All other table around us were being served, and we were walked past by staff constantly. Our water glasses were literally upside down for 30 minutes. When we finally had someone come by, they apologized for the wait, which was fair. We had a server come by about 5 minutes later, we ordered a taste of wine as we were planning on a bottle, and then a few minutes late we ordered our full order. We tried the wine and ordered the bottle, our side dishes for our main arrived before we received our bottle. Shrimp was honestly giving coctco, the ribeye was good, broccolini was pretty good, service honestly pretty bad. We were celebrating as well, really just pretty disappointing. At least the steak and wine were good! I really am not the type of person to leave a bad review, but I'm sad to bring my mom here for a nice night and this was her experience. Such a cute place and a great vibe! We had a reservation so we didn't have to wait. They have inside and outside seating. The outside seating was nice with lighting throughout the trees. We sat inside: music, a bar and overall great atmosphere. I ordered the arugula salad, wings and crispy shrimp. The salad and crispy shrimp were so good! I wouldn't get the wings again, I didn't like how they were seasoned. We tried 3 different desserts: They were all topped with ice cream! Love it. We had a reservation at 8:15 and arrived 5 minutes early. They said the outdoor table was ready, but indoor seating would take another 20 minutes. I recently had surgery and can't walk much, but I was excited to go out for dinner. The outdoor table was in a terrible spot near a door with strong wind, so we couldn't sit there. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked for our table inside, but it still wasn't ready. They told us to wait at the bar, which was full, and I couldn't stand due to my surgery. The food wasn't good either, and the whole experience was disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place, and the reservation wasn't worth it. read more

Okay so Laurel Hardware is an interesting one for me. There's a lot I like about the restaurant. It's very pretty. I can definitely tell they spent a lot of time and energy on the design and I appreciate that. I think the vibe of the restaurant is quite soft and light while offering a level of sophistication that makes you forget that their outdoor seating is really a transformed parking lot. The wait staff is also very nice, but both times I've been it's felt like I had to wait a long time for service. The first time, the waiter wasn't even aware my partner and I were there and we had to ask to be served. They were very apologetic about this and super sweet so not a huge deal but the second time I went, it also took a long time to get service. I think it's partially because the restaurant is actually fairly big and most times I've been it's also packed so it's possible there's just a bit too many people per night than they're actually equipped to handle efficiently. The food is pretty decent. I typically go for their chicken shawarma or the margarita pizza. I would say both those dishes are good but not great. I've definitely had better elsewhere. The drinks at this restaurant are good but they don't stand out to me as much as drinks at other restaurants. I think they could be a bit more unique personally. So all in all I would say the food is good but not remarkable. The true reason I can't rate this restaurant higher is because the last time I was there and sitting on the patio a mouse ran across the ground and it just really freaked me out. The restaurant is very clean and I don't think this is a systemic issue but I the outdoor space is a transformed parking lot kind of area so I think it's maybe a little easier for a stray critter to wander in and unfortunately it happened when I was there. read more

First time at Laurel Hardware for dinner last night. The place is nice. Food was really good. But I will say the star of the night was our waiter Hunter. Oooh boy lemme tell you, he is a rock star. Super helpful, friendly and spot on with recommendations on the menu. Listen I had already looked up the menu and knew what I was gonna order, so when he recommended what I was already gonna order I knew Hunter knew his Sh*t. I was throwing back those mocktails and he just kept the food coming. Good lord it was amazing. Do yourself a favor, make a reservation and ask to get seated in Hunter's section. Just went for the first time. AMAZING!!! Read some of the negative reviews so I was on the lookout. Could not have been any better. Patio was perfect place to be able to converse. Front desk could not have been any more helpful. John (the manager I think)was on top of everything to make our experience great. Hunter, our waiter could not have been any better. And the food was sensational. We had pizza, wings to start, salmon,schwarmma, and burgers. ALL WERE VERY TASTEFUL. For dessert, the berry crumble was the best.
