I was finally able to check this place out on their advertised $5 Martini Mondays and left feeling so disappointed. The only saving grace is that their fries were garlicky and delicious and the drinks were tasty. The service was absolutely trash and I actually wrote "Do Better" on my ticket instead of my usual "Thank You". Both bartenders were dismissive, short and rude. With one of them saying, "I've got cleaning to do so..." after asking us if we'd decided on a second round yet. Context: my best friend is allergic to vodka and asked if she could switch the vodka out for whiskey, to which he said no (fair enough, it's a fixed menu of $10 martinis instead of $5 btw). And then proceeded to tell us he had better things to do than to assist with a drink selection. The next bartender stopped by the party next to us who were rolling the dice to get a free Girl Dinner (if you get doubles and have already ordered the girl dinner, you get it for free) this was not advertised and when I rolled doubles she told me I didn't qualify for the free meal because I hadn't ordered it before rolling the doubles. When I told her I was confused by this and there was nothing stating that I had to order the girl dinner before rolling doubles to which she replied that she felt this policy was "self-explanatory". How rude. The space is very cozy and dark. Could be a cute date night but I recommend doing a reservation. It also seemed like there was a back patio or courtyard. I may return but will do so with a reservation so that way I can hopefully give them another chance without having to directly interact with the bartending staff. I have never been so disrespected in an establishment in my life. We came very early for our table and everyone was very kind and welcoming except for the "manager" Rory. We waited at the bar while we waited for our table and i asked him if we were able to close our tab and he just stared at me until someone else approached me. After that we all needed to use the restroom so we joined the line. A woman cut in front of us and we politely told her that there was a long line ahead of her. She was upset that we addressed her as "ma'am" and walked away. She then brought the "manager" (Rory) which was seemingly her friend and said that it was okay that she cut the line. We went in anyways because we had been waiting for several minutes before she showed up and the manager proceeded to raise his voice and get in our faces and said that he could do what he wanted. He then called security on us and kicked us out. The doorman and hostesses tried to diffuse the situation but we felt very unwelcome and didn't want to stay in an establishment we weren't wanted. After that he proceeded to follow us to the bar we left to after and harassed us further. It felt very classist and racist considering the fact that the woman was caucasian and had a "Chanel" bag with her and the rest of us were women of color. I was there with a group of my friends, and we were simply waiting in line to use the bathroom. Another woman tried to cut in front of us, and when one of my friends said "ma'am" to get her attention because she wasn't responding, the situation escalated. Rory then threatened to involve security against ME AND MY FRIENDS, even though we were the ones already waiting in line. Based on how he treated us compared to the other woman, his behavior felt RACIST, BIASED, AND DISCRIMINATORY. I honestly left the situation feeling angry and disrespected. What a moody vibe this restaurant gives off when you walk in. Give your eyes a moment to settle cause it is very dark in here, so much so our waitress placed a little reading light on our table. The decor of this place lends itself to classic Hollywood era booths and tables, and gold accents, really stylish for a date night or a night out. The food itself, we found to be very acceptable... we enjoyed everything. From the Calamari, to Rigatoni Bolognese pasta, to the Chicken Palliard, everything was solid. Sad! nowhere does it say on their website that there's a dress code. I had reservations with 3 friends , one in from New York City to finally spend some time together and enjoy a nice dinner. I was so looking forward to experiencing this place. I had no idea that, although I was wearing a collared shirt, jacket and new Ralph Lauren shoes, I would be turned away for wearing nice shorts.. We made a 6:30 PM reservation right when they opened at 6, and although it started off pretty empty, it filled up fast. Our waiter, Luther, was great attentive, quick to fix things, and super on top of service the entire time. For drinks, she ordered the lychee martini and I got the espresso martini. The lychee tasted almost like lemonade (so smooth it made me question if there was alcohol ), but the espresso martini? 10/10, absolutely recommend. Food-wise, it was a mix of hits and misses. The Nice Guy burger was definitely the star of the show so good. There was a small mix-up with my fries (I upgraded to truffle fries but initially got regular), but once I mentioned it, Luther fixed it right away, no issues there. The one dish I wouldn't order again is the rigatoni vodka. It came out pretty undercooked (a bit too al dente), so we sent it back, but even after that it was still on the harder side. The sauce itself had good flavor, but the shrimp were really small, and overall it just didn't hit for me. That said, the overall experience was still really solid. The ambiance is super aesthetic, cozy, and perfect for a cute night out. It does get pretty loud once it fills up, but it's manageable. Service-wise, there's a lot of teamwork runners, refills, everything moving quickly..which I appreciated. Parking is mostly street parking,sometimes you'll find a spot, but be prepared to pay just in case. I also rolled the dice on doubles and ended up getting a free martini meal, which made the whole experience even better. Also forgot to mention there is live entertainment which was a $4 fee. While at the bar, my partner asked the bartender to choose any drink from the menu for him, he then proceeded to make him the same drink I ordered. It seemed a bit lazy. We obviously wanted to try different things and he chose to take the easier route which was very off putting. We were sat 45 mins after our reservation time directly behind the host stand at a table that was obviously the worst in the house. We wouldn't complain however we were celebrating an anniversary and are Chase Reserve Members so I just expected a normal table for the occasion. I am shocked they were getting so many bad reviews. I had nothing but a good experience with them. We went on Mother's day dinner and i pushed out the reservation twice through Open Table. When we arrived they took us to the patio seat which we picked and didnt realize its a small tiny space with only two tables in a narrow hallway. It wasnt the type of patio experience i was expecting and so we asked if we can switch to something inside. They helped us secured a good seat even though it looked almost full. Thanks to the servers. We were starving by then and over ordered for the two of us. Burrata and prosuitto wnd caesar salad - they were ok. Portions on the smaller end, but then our main course came and three out of three were all good. Fusili pasta, mushroom pizza and a chicken parm. Pasta was cooked just right and hot, pizza was full of flavor and crust was perfect, chicken parm was moist and a good crunch, just a bit too much marinara for me. My mom was so happy with her food she wanted to go back. The place is cool and casual without being too casual. A bit dark but i guess its more vibing this way. Ambiance is dark and packed with people waiting at the bar and you'll likely be waiting outside or next to a table with people waiting. You musttt make a reservation for a time during the martini Monday. It's packed and loud with live music and overlapping chatter. If you want more of a chill jazz bar vibe, this is not the time to go. The fries and Cesar salad isn't mind blowing but it's a solid set and decent enough size. It's a great place to catch up with 1 or 2 friends . Martinis are strong and made well. Especially for 10$ in this economy. Parking is a bit of a hassle or you can pay the valet. I wouldn't mind making this a regular place every month or so. Def a place to go at least once if this is the atmosphere you like. You come here for the ambiance, not for the food. 8pm reservations for a birthday. $500 for a table of 4 people, no alcohol. Mediocrity was the goal of the service staff. The dudes in vests and bow ties were on it. But our waiter missed the mark multiple times. Steaks were not cooked to correct requested temps. Table was beyond too dark, asked for a second candle and just before we were done eating we were brought an amber colored light so we could see. Kinda funny. Biggest issue was just how salty our meal was. The eggplant parm had so much salt i could not eat it. Almost burned and was bitter. The same issue with the burger just too salty. Yukon potatoes, no flavor. Kale salad, too tough. Brussels sprouts, nothing special But, Fried mozzarella was very good. Truffle fries, good. Pistachio panacotta and the bread pudding, so great! This is a top place for a girls' night / girl dinner lol, or in my case my man actually brought me here and it felt like such an intimate and romantic date night. They have a special menu on Mondays featuring their famous martinis, and they had 5 to choose from. I ordered the lychee martini with my meal and decided to order an espresso martini with tequila as my dessert lol. Their menu for dinner is literally perfection; it comes with an entrée, appetizer, and martini for $30! Which is insane because living in LA you realize that drinks often go up to pretty much that price - for just the cocktail. There are three different options you can pick from, and I picked the one that includes a Caesar salad (so flavorful but not heavy - honestly I loved it), a caviar bump, and a side of garlic fries. It was called "girl dinner" and was literally that--everything I could ever crave for dinner. My boyfriend got the entrée that came with a delicious savory burger and fries like mine, and also paired it with a lychee martini. We were so content with the food, and to top it off the ambiance gave Frank Sinatra fall vibes. There was a live performer that played jazz and classic music, the lighting is moody and the seating is very comfortable. I'm 100% coming back very soon! I don't recommend this place for big groups--it's kinda small in there. Food: for drinks, we got the el chapo (alch), know a guy (alch), and sinfolio (zero proof) --all solid drinks. For starters, we ordered the fried mozz, shrimp scampi--both good. If you're torn and don't have a shellfish allergy, get the shrimp scampi. Sides-- truffle fries, standard good. Mains--we ordered chicken picatta (per George's recommendation) and bolognese. I'm not a huge fan of capers, but the chicken picatta was surprisingly good. Definitely a pleasant surprise. For the bolognese, we had to send it back to the kitchen. We might have a different understanding of al dente, but the bolognese felt undercooked to me and my husband. We had it boxed to go when it came back out so I'm not sure if the cook of the pasta was different the second time around. Service: we had George as our waiter. He was really attentive to us and fun to talk with. He checked on us often and made sure we were having a good time. CSR success! Kid friendly. All about the ambiance. Came here for a 6:30 open table reservation. Parking was cheap, easy, and super close on the street. We were seated early in a nice cozy corner with candles and enough space. Food was great. The hamburger, steak and pasta were awesome. Plate sizes are smaller than most places, so I advise 3 things for 2 people. Pizza was good but not as unique as the other dishes (would still get as the extra dish though). I highly suspect a lot of people like me came because of the Chase card. This place was surprisingly kid friendly. I saw a good number of kids. It was actually funny to me because everyone is trying to keep the vibe and you wouldn't even notice at first but then you see a few groups with a kid. So we came with 3 young kids. We did dress up. The kids had a grand time. The burger, pasta and pizza were meant for adults but actually perfect for kids. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. I could see that they keep the pace going with your meal service ... with the small restaurant size doesn't seem like the type of place that wants you to be lounging for 2+ hours. Bathrooms are small. There is only 1 bathroom that can fit anyone needing space or to assist a kid. They have 1 other tiny stall I barely fit in and one men's urinal. We didn't have any issue with long line or wait but just notable. Yes we did get the $7 entertainment fee without any live music just to note. We were treated very well! I had read some odd google reviews and was super worried about driving all the way to this restaurant with 3 kids and having an issue..... but the staff was genuinely kind and we had a great night. I was really excited to try this restaurant and had a confirmed 8:30 PM reservation. I was running slightly late and tried calling ahead, but no one answered. The grace period is 15 minutes. I arrived at 8:45 PM and was speaking with the hostess at 8:46 PM when she told me my reservation had been canceled for being over the grace period. The extra minute passed while I was actively talking to her. When I explained that I had tried calling, the hostess--who was not friendly or accommodating--insisted that I hadn't. I showed her my outgoing call log and asked her to confirm it was the restaurant's number, which she did--then said, "Well, that still doesn't matter." She immediately said there was nothing she could do and asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. The manager didn't greet me and waited for me to start speaking. I explained the situation to him as well and he had no solutions at all either. He also said that I should've received a text and email about my reservation being cancelled, neither of which I received and showed him to prove it. I understand policies, but the lack of courtesy and flexibility over such a minimal delay was disappointing and completely overshadowed what I hoped would be a great visit back. My friends and I were quite excited to try the Martini Monday experience, and we were sorely disappointed. Not only was the service horrible, they do not allow for modifications of any of the items on the Martini Monday menu. My whole group is either vegetarian or gluten-free, so before arriving we had looked at the regular menu and they allowed for substitutions of all of the regular menu items (which are also on the MM menu). We were told that we could make no modifications to the Martini Monday menu (even though they allow for it on their regular menu and we offered to pay any type of difference), resulting in most of us not being able to eat or enjoy our meals. What can I say! The service was fantastic. Alicia was on point! The decor and the ambience is amazing. This place has been here for 11 years. I am a local around the corner from this place and it's my first time and now would be my go to place once a week with friends and family! This place is called "the nice guy" but all the guys working here have an attitude but it's LA so no surprise there. If you can look past that and make sure to always have a reservation vs trying to do a walk-in, you'll actually have an amazing time. The ambiance is very moody and sexy. The restaurant brims with exclusivity. No pictures allowed but there is a Photo Booth that is especially fun after some delicious drinks. Bar is very lively, with drinks flowing you are bound to dance and vibe to the live music/DJ. Yes it is expensive but you pay for the experience. The food and drinks do not fall behind on this rating. As a whole I confidently rate it 5 stars. And I will go back each time I'm in the city, it's that memorable. As for what I ordered: - The JOJO 10/10 I had 4 of these that's how good they are. If you like lemon drops you will like these even more. - chicken strips 7/10 nothing crazy but decent portion and fair enough price - garlic cheese bread 8/10 fan favorite - Brussel sprouts with caesar dressing 9/10 amazing, first time ever having Brussel sprouts served that way.
