Laurel Hardware is always a good idea! This has been one of my go to spots for years, and I honestly don't know why I've never written a review. Service can definitely be hit or miss. I usually prefer sitting at the bar because the service tends to be better, but this time I came with a few friends so we grabbed a table. Our first interaction was a little off putting. As soon as we arrived, the host made it a point to tell us there was a strict 1.5 hour limit on the table, and the delivery was pretty stern. I completely understand restaurants having time limits, especially when they're busy, but the energy felt a little unwelcoming right from the start. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but it definitely wasn't the warmest welcome. That aside, I love the ambiance here, especially the outdoor area. The food is consistently solid. I absolutely love the shrimp scampi pasta, hamachi, and truffle fries, seriously some of the best truffle fries around. We tried the new pesto pizza this time and it was delicious! The short rib pasta was also a hit with lots of flavor. I enjoy pretty much all of their salads too and usually add chicken or shrimp. Unfortunately, the branzino was a miss. It was overcooked and had almost zero flavor, so we ended up sending it back. Our server was good overall, but service here typically moves pretty slowly and they sometimes seem understaffed. Water refills can take forever, and somehow the sparkling water bottles are always warm lol. It's also a little ironic being reminded so sternly about a 1.5 hour table limit when the service itself tends to move at a slower pace. Other than those little things, Laurel Hardware is still such a great spot. Good food, great outdoor ambiance, and an easy choice when you want dinner somewhere with a fun LA vibe. I'll definitely keep coming back.
I've only ever been here in my early 20s for drinks and I have to say the food was phenomenal! Of course the perfect ambience, sexy and romantic outside, while sleek and industrial inside. Service was great. Plenty of street and lot parking, which was new to me! I'll be back for more soon.
such a beautiful dining area outside which creates a perfect atmosphere for a cute romantic dinner. reservations are exactly on the dot (they didn't take us when we arrived 5 minutes early, which is understandable). the food was a bit pricey but nonetheless it was still tasty. i wish i remembered the name of our waitress, she was incredibly nice and awesome.
Really good food, portion sizes are a little small but the prices were actually more affordable than I was expecting. The service and atmosphere was top notch, especially if you request to be seated outside.
Laurel Hardware is not only a cool concept, but also had great vibes. Service was fast and friendly. The bolognese was extremely tasty and didn't feel heavy on the stomach. The atmosphere was lively and decorated beautifully. I would definitely go back. We got right in on a weekend night.
CAME FOR DESSERT ONLY!! I looooooved the dessert menu! We literally had to order 3 of the pizookies because it's THAT yummy. The sticky date pudding wasn't my favorite because it's not too sweet but a lot of other people in my party loved it. The crem brûlée was soooooooo good!!!! The hard caramel shell tasted perfectly sweet & the custard below it was phenomenal! It comes topped with fresh fruit that were ripe and ready for your taste buds YUM. The ambiance in the outdoor patio literally MADE the night. It's so romantic with all the lit up trees. Definitely a spot for the younger crowd & couples. Our waiter was so attentive & fun! He made jokes with us & was pleasant overall.
First time at Laurel hardware, and we had a mixed response. The decor is appropriately industrial, but with kicked-up touches that make it feel more upscale, more comfortable. The deep woods and dark metal furnishings inside contrast nicely with the ceiling-high windows leading to the outdoor patio. It's a welcoming space, and the staff was equally charming, friendly and focused on making sure we had what we needed. Our server, Allison, offered personal suggestions re the menu, and explained anything that was unclear. Drinks were promptly brought by the bartender, who also made sure we were satisfied before leaving us to our cocktails. My wife's drink, The Gangster, was a sweet and tart blend of cucumber vodka, watermelon juice and lime: refreshing and light, without too much of an alcohol kick. I opted for an Asahi beer, offered on tap and served in a frosty cold glass. It was also refreshing, and paired well with a dram of Toki whiskey. Food was where things stalled for my wife, who ordered the Crispy Rice Salad. Unlike a true salad of crispy rice that you'd get at a Thai restaurant, where crispy rice is the main ingredient, this was really an Asian chicken salad with crispy rice used as a garnish instead of the usual wonton noodles. The ample portion of shaved veggies and pulled chicken (fresh and good quality) was appreciated, but the dressing was far too mild, even when bolstered by an order of extra dressing; the large serving of salad wound up lacking pizzazz and being a disappointment. On the other hand, I really enjoyed my order of Duck Fried Rice, which was packed with flavor and a good degree of spice. The duck itself was tender and tasty, the rice a nice blend of soft and crispy, the included veggies retained crunch through the cooking, and the fried egg on top added just the right extra pop of flavor and creaminess. It was the far better dish, and I would happily order it again. So, it wasn't a perfect meal, but there were definitely some successes, and as I said, the staff couldn't have been nicer. I would go back and try other options, and would even try the salad again if they promise to tweak the dressing.
This place is gorgeous! The restaurant has a beautiful design both indoor and outdoor. So much seating and a great happy hour selection. Favorite thing we ordered were the Lollipop sprouts. Never underestimate vegetables to be the yummiest part of the meal :) Frozen lavender cocktail was refreshing, pizza was perfect, ribs were melt-in-your-mouth, and shrimp tacos made a great appetizer. Service was attentive and so friendly!
The cocktails at Laurel Hardware deserve their own review! Beautifully made, refreshing, and actually tasted as good as they looked. Great balance of flavors without being overly sweet, and the presentation was on point. Pair that with the atmosphere and vibe at Laurel Hardware and it's the perfect place to grab a drink, especially if you're looking for somewhere that feels a little elevated but still fun.
Right when you walk in it's a very moody spot. There's a bar right there if you're waiting for your party to arrive - because they won't seat you until everyone is there. I got to eat outside and it was so beautiful! We were right under a gorgeous lit tree. I ordered a mocktail that I think had gang in the name? It was so tasty! Highly recommend. Then my friend and I split the short rib pappardelle and the crispy rice salad. The salad was so fresh and had amazing crunch. The pasta...omg. It was delicious, and I could have eaten another bowl. For dessert we got the bread pudding, and I'm not usually a bread pudding fan because of the texture, however this one was perfect! Crisp on the outside and warm and soft inside. The only thing I wish were different is that it's so loud outside. We were a party of 5 and I felt like I was screaming across the table to talk. Probably better if you have a smaller party though! Overall, I'm excited to return and try a cocktail!
I recently saw one of my old social media posts and photos pop up as a "memory from today." It was from when I went to Laurel Hardware on Saturday evening, March 23rd, 2019. It's been quite a long time, but I still remember the place having a great atmosphere, delicious food, and very friendly service. I usually don't drink alcohol, but I also remember posting the caption, "Tonight's forecast: 99% chance of wine & cocktail," on my social media at the time. I remember all the food was really good, but especially the Truffle Fries -- they were absolutely delicious.
This place is really cute! The ambiance is very picture worthy no matter if you're sitting inside or outside. We had a big group reservation and the staff were super friendly, took great care of us. It was our friends birthday and they even refrigerated the cake and made the whole thing special! Staff was very attentive so i loved that. I got the 6oz steak and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Also definitely recommended the hamachi crudo, perfectly spicy and flavored. For drinks, I got the gangster, so refreshing if you're looking for something simple. The only issue I had was with the bathrooms, there were only 3 single stalls for both genders so there was always a line and it overflowed into the seating guest area. Awkward placement for it too. Come here if you're looking for cute pics and good food!
Came a weekday night. Place was busy, but not full. It was hard to get a seat at the bar area. We had to flag the bartender down. The patio area was really nice with the lighted trees. Was told the food was pricy but good. Would return just to sit at the patio area. Really nice decor.
This is my second time here, and I have to say I do like it a lot! First, it's definitely more on the pricer side so be prepared to spend a bit of money. Second, the parking situation isn't great, but each time I've gone I've been lucky and gotten a spot on a side street close by. For 3 the bill was over $200 with drinks and desserts. Went on a Sunday night and had a reservation, we got seated immediately. The inside of the restaurant is trendy LA, I don't love how short the seats/tables are though, it can feel kind of crammed. There are tables that are obviously higher than others, you can get seated at more of a picnic bench or a "garden table" and those aren't as nice as a regular table, so I'd be aware of that when you're getting seated! We asked if we could change tables and they did re-seat us no problem, but i guess it would depend on how busy they are... We ordered: Crispy Shrimp, Ricotta Tortellini, Short-Rib Pappardelle, Duck Fried Rice, Croissant Bread Pudding, and Berry Almond Crumble. For drinks we got, Gangster, The Garden G&T, and the Cabanas Colada. Everything was delicious! I would say my favorites of the night were the Cabana Colada, Croissant Bread Pudding, Short-Rib Pappardelle and the Crispy Shrimp. the tortellini came out a little cold, otherwise I think that might have been my top choice. My friend worried the shrimp would be too spicy, but they weren't at all, super crispy and hot! The Short-Rib Pappardelle tasted like handmade noodles and the short rib was very tender. Fried rice was a tad on the dry side but not so much that it was inedible. The Berry Crumble was very tart so I think I preferred the sweeter bread pudding but I wish both came with more ice cream for sure. I'd definitely come back here but for me it's an occasion/date night kind of place for sure. read more
A LITTLE shocked that Laurel doesn't have better reviews because I had the best experience. I made a reservation for the Sunday after Thanksgiving - we were seated immediately and surprisingly, it wasn't very busy. There were plenty of seats and no line (I hear this is a rare occurrence but I'm sure everyone was in deep post-Turkey Day food coma). The cocktails were alright - mine actually tasted a little watered down so I followed it up with a wine, which always hits the spot. The FOOD: - Truffle Fries: Delicious! Solid app. - Heirloom Tomato & Burrata: Refreshing/a good size - Grilled Broccolini: lemony goodness - Short Rib Pasta: comes in a very large portion that is great for sharing - very good - Branzino: THE BELLE OF THE BALL - this was honestly the absolute best fish I've ever had at a restaurant The ambiance was a dream - a great spot for a date night. I definitely recommend the outdoor patio because we love a twinkle light situation. Lastly, our waitress was absolutely amazing - so kind and so helpful, providing amazing recommendations. read more

Myself and a group of girls were in LA for a birthday - visiting from Vancouver, Canada. We heard about Laurel Hardware from a friends recommendation and we are so so glad we went!! First of all, what a beautiful place to eat at night, the twinkle lights and the trees set such a beautiful ambiance. The food was delicious and came out so fast we weren't quite sure what to do with ourselves. It was appreciated as we were starving. The cocktails were 10/10 but the only thing better than everything I've touched on already was our server Nadia. She was so fun and fit right in with our table. She was able to answer all of our questions, provided helpful suggestions and even helped us round out the itinerary for the rest of our evening. It was one of those, "did we just become best friends" moments. I wish we had our own Laurel Hardware in Vancouver, but only if it comes with Nadia. Looking forward to going back!! read more

I had Laurel Hardware on my list for a while, and it DID NOT disappoint! We went during a less busier period, around 4:45 (this was in September, I believe they had recently started opened for lunch again?), so they were serving the happy hour menu. We got the crispy rice and shrimp taco's. I had heard a lot about the crispy rice (aka the salmon tartare). And I see why: perfectly crisped rice, creamy tartare with a little spice from the Serrano. Shrimp taco's had a great tangy aioli. I would love to come back for the dinner menu and try the seared branzino! ALSO: The. Best. Spicy Marg I have ever had (and I spent a lot of time in Mexico this year). I asked for it extra spicy, and they did it better than anyone else! I still think about it. We sat on the patio, Decor and ambiance makes it feel like you're at a friends place for a chic dinner party. read more

The restaurant itself is cute, a little loud. I thought it would have a more hidden gem/ speakeasy vibe but not really. The food has Asian fusion vibes but taste pretty good( a little salty). The toffee pudding looks ugly but taste good. read more

I had wanted to try Laurel for a while now & it did not disappoint! Easy street parking in the area. Make a reservation! Food (8/10): the sausage pizza ($18) was incredible! the creamy cheese on top was perfect to balance the saltiness! the rigatoni bolognese ($25) with veal was yummy & perfectly al dente but I wasn't a fab of the red wine flavor. Ambience (10/10): trendy la spot with a beautiful outdoor seating area & dim lit indoor seating area. Service (8/10): our server gave great recommendations! Overall, I am definitely coming back & would totally recommend to others! read more

So my bestie took my out to Laurel Hardware and OMG!!!! It reminded me of the restaurant Ysabel. I walked in and the gentleman asked to see my Covid vaccination card lol very interesting but good. I'm not complaining . I was expecting can I see your ID instead. We walked in and infront of me was this beautiful lit bar. Walking through the bar, the hostess took us outside to seat. So imagine lanterns, with rope lights and good ass music . Yessss . Just nice and chill. Then the menu came. Don't worry I have pictures for days!!! We ordered appetizers and it was Shrimp. Fried Shrimp from heaven. OmG it was so delicious! Then we ordered Truffle fries. These fries were different. It tastes so clean and delicious. What I mean is that there are some fries that taste like oil. This didn't. Anyway, then we ordered drinks. My friend got something that had Casa amigos in it (don't ask me) I opted for a mock tail with watermelon and oh no I didn't like it. So I'll be honest I only ordered the mock tail because I was trying to be cute and fit in because my friend ordered a nice drink. After I tried it I told the waiter I didn't like it and I said please get me a Shirley Temple and let's call it a day! Moral of my story is it's ok to be yourself and do what you know. Don't try to fit in lol. The main course came and I ordered Rock Fish with capers and cauliflower puree- please repeat after me Yummyyyyy lolll. Then my friend ordered the Duck fried-rice and OMG it was so good. Then for desert we had a warm Tofee Cake that melts in your mouth. I was taken here for my bday. Short and simple. This place has a nice cute ambiance to socialize in. The food was nothing memorable. The waitress definitely did not come around much which sucked when your thirsty. The drinks are expensive and not much alcohol in them. Seems they are more concerned with turning the table over then catering to the customer experience. Food: The food was brought out at different times so first they brought the side of broccolini with no main dish to eat with and to top it off it was cold. The sausage pizza had 6 pieces of small sausage and was a little burnt. The chicken I ordered I can say didn't have too much of taste for the price of it. Seating: I was seated in a small two person table which can't even hold the plates and cups so everything was super crowded on the table. I definitely won't be back but I think this restaurant is more of good place to go for a first time meet date or to hang out with friends. This was my first time here after having it recommended by my friend and I was in for a treat. Although my party sat outside, both the indoor and outdoor dining areas were phenomenal. The ambiance was literally perfection and it just felt so intimate and cozy, great for a date for sure. To start off, the chicken cutlet was a bit dry, a LITTLE tough, somehow still juicy, and very crispy/crunchy. The greens on the top were dressed with *I think* a lemon vinaigrette. The gooseberry aioli that it was paired with mirrored a light lemon aioli. Note from while I was in the middle of eating it: "Chewing on it right now and my mouth is kind of getting dry? Flavor is good though!" The short-rib pappardelle was very good! It tasted kind of like beef stroganoff. The beef is braised to literal perfection, the texture was spot on!!! I heard someone say that if they were on death row this would be their last meal. I really enjoyed it and def recommend trying it if you're hesitant on ordering. The rigatoni bolognese was nothing special really, and I honestly don't remember much other than it tasted meh. But I didn't have more than one bite so that maybe I should've had more? The prosciutto pizza was nice and thin. The prosciutto isnt too salty and the arugula added a nice nutty punch to the bite. If you're looking for a pizza with a crispy bottom like me, this isn't for you, but I honestly didn't mind because I enjoyed the texture(which wasn't crispy but wasn't completely soft either). A horrendous experience though was purchasing a bottle of san Pellegrino for $8... That's kind of over priced considering I get it for $2 from trader joes. It left me in tears... I was speechless. But then again, what can you expect when going to a restaurant with $30 pasta? Overall, our experience was amazing and all the workers were so kind. If you're thinking about dining here, I would say to give it a try! The food was okay but the beautifulll ambiance made up for it. Went in for happy hour and glad I did. Great bar scene with an experienced staff that mix so well. A Michter's Rye Manhattan on the happy hour menu was awesome. The bar nibbles are also amazing. This place is worth the stop. Next time we'll stay for dinner but was only in town for a night .... Many places to visit. read more

Good happy hour until 7 pm. Very good friendly service from our server and the staff overall. However, knowing we were celebrating two people's birthdays, it was odd that they didn't send out a birthday celebratory treat. Also, we weren't asked if we wanted a final order before Happy Hour ended. However, we got a free Guinness when they thought our table had ordered an extra one. Making an online reservation for 6 for an early Friday evening wasn't difficult, though prime seating is in the beautiful, relaxed, spacious courtyard. The area next to glass wall adjacent to courtyard is cool, too. The inside and bar area is hip but dark. Laurel Hardware is not a speakeasy but the former hardware storefront remains. Right as you enter, curtained off to the right is a small cocktail room that I only noticed when leaving. The open kitchen you pass right after is in a curious spot. The bathrooms are behind unmarked dark doors in an open area. They look like closet doors but are near one continuous sink with different faucets in the hall. The soap scent is too strong. Regular drinks are pricey. Not sure if I would come here for a meal (the order of shrimp was about 8 pieces for $21) but it's a good for Happy Hour and the ambience. My friend loved the Gangster drink (refreshing cucumber taste). Drink names were cool, like the Gran Torino. Love the movie. Happy Hour food choices are limited but the shrimp tacos were the hands down stars. Deep fried battered shrimp with Pico de Gallo and lettuce. They are small but filling. All 3 of us loved them. We agreed the Margherita pizza, though big, was ok. Some slices were salty or lacked flavor but this Jersey girl liked the chewy crust. The fries were not salty and stayed warm. Kale salad with shaved Parmesan - good for 2 to share. Still I think we would would come back, hoping for a courtyard table, getting happy. read more

Food is really good but the service is inconsistent. I got the burger and it was well executed. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I initially felt like the red headed step child until I noticed just about errbody there was getting lackadaisical service. Been there twice before. If I am in the area I may stop by again or maybe I'll just grab a burger at Irv's, 2 doors down. read more

It's right down the street from me but I've never been... It's not well reviewed and honestly, the food is not very good. If you're interested in the scene - well that might be worth it. But coming here for dinner would be a misstep. We made a reservation and were seated on the patio. That is the ONLY way a meal here would be acceptable. Inside is just insanely noisy. There is no possible way to have a conversation - and we were there at 6 pm on a weekday. Outside patio is lovely but I was attacked by mosquitoes and that's never happened on any other patio in WeHo... they need to do some spraying or candles or something. We did some small plates and weren't inspired by them to order any of the larger menu items. We had the Jerk Shrimp, which was basically deep-fried very very mildly spiced shrimp (could have come from Trader Joe's freezer honestly), the Burrata (not bad but I mean, it's cheese) and the much-lauded Lollipop Sprouts (again, not awful but basically a salad of Brussel sprouts). The cocktails were very good. I had the Gangster after a recommendation from a favorite Yelper (Lyla from Hawaii!) and it was definitely a good drink. My date had one I can't recall - but also very pretty and tasty. In fact, she had a couple. Cocktails are the winner here. Service was friendly. The food is just not delicious. It's not worth the noise and the parking hassle (there is normally over-priced WeHo valet). There are many other patios in the area with great drinks and good food. This one you could skip. read more

I hate that it took me so long to check out Laurel Hardware. I've been in Los Angeles for over 4 years and have been eating my way around town, but held back on giving Laurel Hardware a shot. I guess the front exterior has always kept me uninterested. My colleagues and I had happy hour here during the week. We arrived early enough where we got a very nice table out in the back patio. We all started with Margaritas and then ordered several appetizers to share. We had the Arugula, Shrimp Tacos, Fries, Ribs, and Corn. These were all off the Happy Hour menu. Everything we had was delicious. Our server was very friendly and talkative, so we had a good time chatting with him. The outdoor patio is beautiful. It's a perfect space for all occasions. With this option, I don't know if I'd ever be okay with being seated inside at Laurel. I'm totally looking forward to bringing out of town visitors here. read more
This place is so great and classy and for a crowd of all kinds. There is inside seating, but I love the outdoor patio area. It is quiet and the lights giving off a relaxing and calming atmosphere. The bad part about the patio area is that they close at midnight because their neighbors are apartments. After midnight you have to go inside. If you're lucky the night you go, you may find a place to sit. The menu changes frequently so your favorite drink may not be there during your next visit. read more

Looks may be deceiving. From the outside, this place looks like a real hardware store. But walk inside and you'll find a trendy and hip LA restaurant. We chose to come to Laurel Hardware because they take large group reservations. I was able to book a table for a party of ten on a Saturday night. We enjoyed a nice seat on the outdoor patio area in the back. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but I preferred the outdoor space. The menu is definitely a little pricey and portions aren't huge, but the food is tasty and delicious. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese and I loved it. The sauce was hearty and the noodles were cooked perfectly. We also ordered a serving of truffle fries to enjoy! Gotta love truffle fries. The drink prices were pretty steep so we didn't get any, but they had a bunch of unique cocktails. I enjoyed eating here. While it was pricey, it's also LA, so no surprise. The ambiance was nice and the food was good. read more
I am genuinely confused at a lot of the hate that Laurel Hardware gets. Sure - it's a scene, a trendy one, and as a result you've got a layer of pretentiousness that sort of sits atop the place from the front door check in process to the bar and outdoor seating. That shouldn't be surprising in West Hollywood, and if you can get past it what you've got here is really solid food in a great setting. Star 1: How was the Service and Atmosphere? As I mentioned, Laurel Hardware can be trendy to a fault, but it's such a beautiful space that if you can leave all that at the door you'll be fine. Our service was prompt and attentive, and upon realizing that we weren't there to be seen or impress one another the staff were personable and chill. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Prices are reasonable at Laurel Hardware for the most part. Sharable entrees hover around $30.00, and single service entrees hover around $20.00. Drinks are expensive, so avoid that if you're trying to spare your wallet. Star. Stars 3 & 4: How was the food? Some really, really good dishes here at Laurel Hardware, and a diverse menu that's sure to please anyone. The crispy rice? Out of this world. The Duck Fried Rice? Excellent. Great short rib mushroom pasta, and great glazed short ribs. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I genuinely didn't think I'd be giving five stars to Laurel Hardware, but I can't find a single thing that fell short during my visit. Walk-ins will be tough as it's a popular venue. I'd recommend checking OpenTable and grabbing a time slot... otherwise if you're lucky it'll be bar seating, if unlucky you'll be turned away.
