I'd been to a restaurant that previously occupied this space, De Noche, and came here to see what took over, and it turns out to be a similar restaurant! Good food here. Some really unique flavor combinations. I I really do wish the menu was larger, by a lot. 6 things isn't much. I get the idea I think....they wanna do a few things really well, and a small menu forces people to try things they may not otherwise. That's cool. But I think that's just something that isn't for me. Small inside - pretty tight. But they make it work. Servers are very good at navigating it and they're great at their jobs.

Had such an amazing dinner (tasting menu)!! It was just the right amount of food for my husband and I (we usually end up taking a to-go box or stuffed at most restaurants). I really appreciated that there were two desserts on the tasting menu, too! Our server told us that the menu changes weekly based on what's currently available at the farmer's market and this ended up feeling and tasting totally true as we worked our way through the menu. Every dish tasted so fresh and celebrated the seasonings, vegetables, fruits, or proteins in it. There was definitely some spice and nods to Mexican food which was delicious as well. I would definitely recommend for a treat-yo-self type of dinner!!

I had heard so many great things about Lilia Comedor at their previous location, so I was excited (and a bit sad) when they moved into the former De Noche spot, one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. The food at Lilia Comedor was flavorful, visually so pretty, and overall really tasty. Some dishes were a bit spicy for me, but I loved the creativity and presentation of every plate. The meal finished with amazing desserts that perfectly soothed my palate. However, the service was quite unusual and uncomfortable. I may have visited on an off day, but here's how it went: I arrived at 7:50pm for an 8:00pm reservation and was told to wait by the door. At 8:06pm, a new staff member asked if I had been helped, then nonchalantly told me to wait at the bar next door, without any explanation for the 16 minutes I had been standing there. (The tequila bar next door is really nice and cool though) I was finally seated at 8:24pm. By 8:40pm, no one had taken our drink order, so we had to flag down a server. The server mentioned that there were no designated server for tables in the restaurant, which did not give any explanation, apology, or acknowledgement for the delay. My timeline is pretty accurate because I take a lot of pictures when I go out. After that, the food service was just really slow. When we received our check, two drinks were missing while two were still included. The server responded kindly, saying "it's on me," which was sweet, but I wasn't sure if it was a genuine acknowledgment of the service issues or just a friendly gesture. All that said, I really enjoyed every dish, the food is excellent, but the service needs improvement for me to feel comfortable and satisfying spending $185 for two plus drinks.

It really was a great experience! Was able to make a reservation for a Friday night with no problem, although the place was pretty much fully occupied the entire time we were there so I would think it's better to make a reservation than just walking in. The space is cozy and the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. We did the tasting menu with one wine pairing and ordered some cocktails and a horchata too. The wines were all uniquely delicious and paired well with the dishes. The portions were sizable and you get two desserts too. Everything tasted fresh with high quality ingredients.

Lilia Comedor is the favorite restaurant of our relatives in Portland and they insisted we need to try it. They had made a Chef's counter reservation for us. The service was incredible, Our server explained the options to us, we chose to go with the Chefs Dinner. They agreed to replace the Yellowtail with the Pork collar. We started with our drinks, I got the Abuelita, my husband got the Manzanilla. We both loved our drinks. The first dish was Honeyboat Squash Fritters, it blew our mind. I am not a big fan of squash, but loved the Honeyboat Squash Fritters. The squash was fried perfectly, topped with salsa verde, that was amazing and parmigiano reggiano. We next had Huitlacoche Enfrijolada, with house-made tortilla, bean adobo, crema, and cured yolk. This was amazing, we loved all the layers. We then had Seared Diver Scallop. They told us before we were served the scallops that they ran out of the greens it was served with and were replacing it. We were served a complimentary drink that paired well with the scallops while we waited for it. We loved the scallops and the green they came with, especially loved the harissa sauce that was on top. We then had the Pork Collar Carnitas, our last plate of savory food before moving on to desserts. The Pork collar was amazing, just fell apart with the fork. We also loved 2 different preparations of carrots that came with it. Our first dessert was a popcorn set custard, with caramel popcorn, chocolate pearls. We loved the entire dessert, the caramel popcorn added a fun element. Our second dessert was a native american frybread inspired flatbread topped with huckleberry jam, pecans, and served with buttermilk ice cream. We loved the ice cream, we finished it immediately. The flatbread was great, loved the huckleberry jam. Sitting at the Chef's counter was an amazing experience, we got to watch all the dishes being prepared. The chef served us all the dishes himself and explained all the dishes to us. One of our best meals and overall experience.

Came for a late Valentine's Day dinner. Mostly street parking with the parking lot mostly 30 min only. The restaurant is small and quaint and bussin. We had the chef's dinner which was a 6 course meal. We also got the pork confit. Overall very pleased with the meal in flavor profile, as well as quantity. We probably didn't need the pork confit as we were pretty full. There is also a 21% service fee automatically included which supports the workers pay. Absolutely worth it as the service was amazing and each meal was brought out and described to us. So many highlights but the 4 must mentions were the starter which was a small tostada with avocado, scallops, and chili oil salsa thing. Amazing appetizer. The tetela with morel, quesilla, and peas were amazing. The peas were in an almost demiglaze type sauce that popped with flavor with each bite of the tetela. The yogurt dessert was so creamy and tasted like a cheesecake. The chocolate branches was so cool too with the berry sauce. The Dubai pistachio chocolate was also absolutely delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the endive but that's just me personally. Overall though, amazing experience and highly recommend for a special occasion.

Special and unique dining experience at Lilia. My brother had been wanting to take me here and we had a great time. Excellent cocktails and small, but stellar menu with unique flavors and textures. Service was attentive and engaging and we appreciated the recommendations by our waitress. The quesadilla and oysters were amazing!

Portland's food scene never disappoints and this spot didn't either. First off, the service is incredible. The kindest, most informative, and attentive staff! You can tell they really love the dishes with their pointed perspectives and enriching storyline of ingredients infused in the dishes for the day! Now onto the food - delicious!! For a party of 2, it was recommended to order one dish from each section and share - great idea. - Camote Tatemado 5 stars and our favorite dish of the evening. Spicy and creamy sweet potato that was perfectly charred. - Honeyboat Squash Tlayuda 5 stars and such a fun and creative dish. Very filling too! - Pork Collar Carnitas 4.5 stars where the pork literally melts in your mouth. It parted and shredded perfectly with so much juice and flavor. Loved the pickled veggies on top! Overall, great and intimate space for a date night or small group out with friends. Definitely get a rezzy and enjoy!!

4.5 stars I have not been to Republica, but I expected this restaurant to be a bit more dressed down and casual (it may be in comparison), but this meal was extremely refined and Michelin Star-ish. The service, drinks, food and atmosphere were all top notch. We decided to get the tasting menu for two (I though it was kind of odd that they only had it for two and not for the table....that was a bit confusing because there were three of us) plus we added a dish and we split it between all three of us. All of the courses served were outstanding. The only one that left me a little underwhelmed was fava bean tatemato which was texturally a bit one note. This was memorial day weekend and apparently this was the only time of year where they could serve favas without shelling them or something? I appreciated the ephemeral aspect of it, but just wish there was a bit more to it. Our favorite dish was definitely the pork collar confit which was their take on carnitas served on top of mole blanco. Other standouts were the alaskan halibut on top of black bean jus and served with squash blossom mole. The porcini tlayuda was also quite special. The thing that stood out to me most was how fresh and seasonal all of the veggies, fruit and produce were and how they allowed them to shine in every dish. The desserts were also amazing. The peanut butter mousse with huckleberries (first ones of the season apparently) and the strawberry fry bread with chamomile ice cream were the perfect way to end the meal. For the life of me, I cannot remember what cocktails we ordered but they were both superb, so make sure you don't sleep on those either if you like to imbibe. Come here on date night or for a special occasion, I don't think you will regret it.

This was an amazing way to start off our trip to Portland. If given the opportunity, snag a res and enjoy whatever menu the chef and co creates for the week! We opted to sit at the chef counter, which was a great way to see the dishes finished and chat with the chef. Every dish we feasted on was artfully prepared and exquisite in taste. Though the standouts were the huitlacoche/brussels/black garlic dish, pork collar/cabbage/hominy, and the chilaquiles. The huitlacoche provided a Ratatouille moment where I was reminded of my childhood. The flavors and textures were intricate, but the bean mousse was phenomenal. It packed so much flavor, despite how airy it was. I also never realized that charred Brussels sprouts could pair so well with a Mexican inspired dish. The pork collar/cabbage dish was almost a deconstructed pozole. The amount of texture the dish lacked was insane and despite its heat, I couldn't stop eating the sauce! The housemade chips were the perfect vessel for that dish. I don't usually enjoy chilaquiles, but this dish blew that previous notion up. The flavors, the spice, and how well they paired together is something I'll never forget. The desserts were both perfect, with the fromage blanc being extremely light and airy. Everything from the wait staff to the kitchen/chef made this experience one for the books and I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to try this place. Love that they work with local sources for ingredients. Like I said, if you love food and experiences, this place is a must try!

Loved everything about it! Easy to get a table, easy to shift it around. Ok to come slightly late, they are a non fuss kind of crowd. We did the tasting menu, $100pp about. It was amazing. Everything that came out was so delightful to the palette and a good serving size too. I'd recommend trying their wines from Mexico - I've never seen Mexican wine before.

    First dish bluefin tuna
    Gabe L.

Lilia's Chef's Dinner is one of those rare dining experiences where every course surprises you in the best way. The menu is tight and focused: Bluefin Tuna, Yukon Potato, Lobster Mushroom, Alaskan Halibut, Sweet Corn, Skeena Cherry -- but don't let the simplicity fool you. Every dish comes out like it's got something to prove. The bluefin tuna was delicate and clean, with a crisp white wine that elevated the whole bite. The potato dish followed and brought a wave of nostalgia. Think BBQ season memories, but elevated. The toasted corn, subtle jalapeño heat, and salty capers took something familiar and turned it into something you'd crave again and again. Each course had just the right amount of spice. A gentle warmth that built slowly, kept things exciting, and never overwhelmed. The Lobster Mushroom dish was earthy and complex. Then came the Alaskan Halibut. Not just any part, this was the halibut cheek, the best cut. Flaky, tender, and rich, it was the undeniable star of the show. Everything on the plate worked in harmony, and the wine pairing pulled it all together with finesse. Then came dessert. First, the Sweet Corn Ice Cream -- creamy, dreamy, and paired with a sherry that brought out the sweetness without overpowering it. It had blueberry and graham cracker crunch on top, and it hit all the right notes. Playful but refined. The Skeena Cherry dish was the final touch. A puff pastry enclosing a silky cream with more blueberry layered inside. Served with a port wine, it was indulgent but balanced. A grand finale that didn't feel heavy. Beyond the food, the energy of the place is just right. The chef is warm, present, and clearly passionate. You can feel the mutual respect in the room. Chef Juan leads with kindness and calm confidence, treating his sous chefs and staff like a real team. That grace shows up in the food and the flow of the evening. The service is polished and attentive without being overbearing. The whole atmosphere has that effortless Pearl District cool. The entire dinner is $205 for two. Wine pairing is $68 per person. And for what you get flavor, artistry, warmth, and a night to remember. It's more than worth it. The menu changes every Tuesday, so if you're so inclined, it can become a weekly culinary indulgence you'll look forward to again and again.

Lilia Comedor crafts dishes with the precision of a jeweler-each plate a miniature masterpiece where every ingredient feels intentional. But after ordering the entire menu-from the ethereal Diver Scallop Crudo to the richly layered Carnitas Gringa (and dessert afterwards), we were left with the peculiar sensation of having dined on a collection of beautiful, fleeting moments rather than an actual meal. The Alaskan Halibut, perched atop brassica spaetzle, was a study in refinement-three perfect bites that vanished before we could fully appreciate them. Similarly, the Blonde Morel Tetela, though earthy and complex, left us longing for just one more masa parcel to make it feel substantial. Even the generous-seeming Koji Zucchini Tatemado, with its charred queso panela and peanut crunch, played more like an interlude than a main act. There's undeniable artistry here, and the flavors linger in memory: the bright acidity of green strawberry curtido on the scallops, the smoky depth of the tetela's salsa baja. But when the last plate is cleared and you realize you've sampled everything yet still feel curiously unsated, the experience begins to resemble an exhibition rather than dinner. Lilia Comedor is the kind of place that makes you pause-both to admire the craftsmanship and to wonder if you should've packed a snack. For those seeking culinary theater, it delivers. For anyone hoping to leave with both their curiosity and their appetite satisfied, the performance might feel tantalizingly brief.

She had recommended it, was excited to share it with us. There was no single incident that explains what happened. Instead, it was a series of interactions that became increasingly dismissive, hostile, and ultimately humiliating. The first moment that gave us pause came when my friend's ID was returned so carelessly that it landed on the floor. The server then walked away without explanation, only to return and inform us she would not be serving us drinks. Being denied a drink was never the issue, though the manner in which it was handled felt abrupt and unwarranted. When we attempted to understand the concern, there was no effort to communicate, clarify, or review the additional identification we had available, including a passport. Instead, the interaction became increasingly adversarial. We were told we could cause the restaurant to lose its liquor license and were ultimately instructed to leave. At that point, it no longer felt like a conversation about identification. It felt like a complete breakdown in professionalism and basic respect. Before leaving, my friend calmly asked to speak with someone in charge. She was visibly upset, holding back tears, but remained composed throughout the interaction. Rather than attempting to understand or de-escalate the situation, another staff member escalated it further, becoming confrontational and referring to her as a "bish." I have worked in food service and understand that mistakes happen. Portland has no shortage of exceptional restaurants. I would spend my time and money elsewhere. 0/5

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is pretty spacious. The servers were really nice and fast to get you what you need! A side note: they have heated toilet seats in their restroom so that's always a plus!

I was unfortunately really wanting to taste the scallops! Overall we had a great time! Service was nice and attentive! The drinks were really affordable and generous too! My brother in law ordered a chu hi and it came in this huge mug for $14 with an option of refill for ~$7! Such a deal! Arigatou, Hachi!

Always call to make a reservation, just in case as it gets busy. We went on a Thursday night at 5pm…read moreand they had a sign up saying no walk-in's as they were booked out. Everything was meticulously prepared, delicious and just the perfect amount of filling without overly stuffing ourselves. We ordered: - $38, Three Fish don: salmon, tuna, hamachi over rice and it comes with miso soup & 3 small appetizer bites (ours was: Kobucha, edamame, pickles) - $40, chirashi b that comes in stacked bowls with sashimi and unagi, tamago egg, and a couple sashimi on top of rice with miso soup & 3 small appetizer bites - $39, Murata's selected dinner, 2 entree combination, where you can choose from cooked fish, sushi, sashimi, fried dishes. I ended up picking sushi & sashimi (I remember about couple years ago when it used to be $29.50, but I know ingredient costs have gone up)

The service was wonderful--the staff were mostly Japanese and very kind--and the portions for the dinner sets were generous for the price. However, the quality of the sushi felt like a standard neighborhood spot. The fish appeared to be pre-cut and frozen rather than freshly broken down in the kitchen. The biggest disappointment was the Hokkaido Uni. At $40 for two pieces ($20 each), I expected top-notch quality, but it sadly lacked freshness. The tempura was ordinary as well, though the complimentary amuse-bouche (tofu, broccoli, and asparagus) was surprisingly delicious. It's a decent spot if you want a high-value, casual sushi dinner, but since I prioritize the freshness of the fish, I don't think I'll be back.
