It feels like a sports bar with all of the sports memorabilia decor and TVs. However, it's more of a local American steakhouse with influences from Italy and Mexico. They are specifically known for their Prime Rib, but they have pizzas, pastas, fajitas, burgers, and more. They have a free private parking lot with plenty of spaces in the front and back. Depending on when you come to dine, you may need a reservation, as it was quite busy on a random Saturday night. When we were seated, they immediately gave us some complimentary bread and butter. +Complimentary Bread and Butter - 4/5 As I am a big fan of the margaritas at their sister restaurant, The Original Ninfa's on Navigation, I wanted to check them out here as well. I didn't take pics. I was in from a funeral and just wanted some solo. I had a very generous gift cert from a previous poor experience at one of their sister restaurants.. . Staff was outstanding, kind. Ordered a ribeye, which was on a crazy discount on a Thursday (highly recommend!). It was perfect. Medium rare, but the fat was perfectly rendered. I am a regular take out customer, and would usually give a solid 4.5 star review. Unfortunately, something was terribly off tonight. Placed my first attempted order which was promptly cancelled by Laurenzo's (see pic). Placed my order again only to receive confirmation that it would be ready for pick up in 615 minutes (see pic). Math is hard, but that's over 10 hours to make a bowl of soup, a burger, and fries. Tried to call but was promptly put on hold for exactly 15 minutes before I finally hung up and drove there not knowing if I would have an order waiting for me or not. My order was ready (and no longer the proper temperature), but when I shared my troubles with the host I was advised that they weren't the manager and they were busy tonight. WOW!!! This was my first time to Laurenzo's and it was outstanding! We ordered the meatball sub and the Ahi Tuna Salad. Both excellent! The meatball sub was a true meatball sub, great bread, meatballs, smothered in meat sauce, topped with melted provolone cheese. The ahi tuna salad was dynamite!! My lasagna was served up hot and was very tasty. My daughter's chicken parmigiana was probably the best I have ever tasted. Such great flavors on these with an awesome aioli sauce served with it. Another family favorite is the Italian wedding soup. Perfect blend of flavors. I have eaten at Laurenzo's on Washington Ave., Houston, TX, many times in the past and I thoroughly enjoyed the service and their French Dip - my favorite dish - with French Fries and a Caesar Salad. Today 11/04/25, I went to Laurenzo's with my son. The French Dip's portions were a tad smaller, the bread was over-baked, which changed the flavor of the sandwich and the au jus for dipping had almost no taste. I did not enjoy my French Dip. My Caesar salad, although very good, came in a very small dish with three (yes, three) small croutons. In the past, the salad was at least double that size. I have been to Laurenzo's many times for this French Dip and salad, so this is not my first experience. To top it all, the price was exorbitant. We paid almost $35 dollars (+) for the sandwich, French fries, the tiny salad and a Sprite. It looks like the food is shrinking and the prices are swelling. I understand inflation, but either you raise the price, or shrink the food, but don't do both! I am sorry to say that I was sorely disappointed and will cross this restaurant off my list. read more

What really stands out to me every time I come here is the service. The waitstaff are incredibly attentive and professional. Every single time I've been here, the service has been top notch. The prime rib and filet mignon are both terrific although the portion of the filet is a bit small. All of the pasta dishes are fresh. The menu is fairly comprehensive so there are plenty of choices and the prices are fairly reasonable. They have a full bar and and a good draft selection. Made a reservation for Saturday of Valentine's weekend on open table for 730pm. They had even other time options available for 8, 815, & 830pm to reserve at the time we arrived. Got there and there was a huge wait to check-in. Checked-in and realized it could be forever until we were seated. Went to stand at the bar to get a drink while we waited, 10+ mins later of the bartender looking at me and they didn't take my drink order at all. Huge waste of time. They clearly were overwhelmed and I have no idea why they would still be taking reservations knowing how under prepared they were for Valentine's weekend. We left after waiting 25 minutes, including 10 spent standing by the bar waiting for a bartender to make eye contact with us (surprise: they didn't). One of the worst displays of collective customer service and wait staff morale I've ever seen. Simply put: if you can't honor reservations, don't take reservations. We first went to El Tiempo on this Friday evening, their other restaurant, but the wait was 25 min, so we went here. It was only half-full, odd it seemed for a Friday, and I found out why. The Happy Hour specials are only at the bar. I understand that for food, but why drinks??? Most restaurants offer HH throughout, so...we said the heck with that and ordered just water. Kind of our protest! I ordered the pork carne Asada. It was very tender and tasty, but extremely hot. I wish that the menu would have spelled out how hot it was. The fire ruined the taste. The waiter laughed when I told him that, saying the chef sautées the meat in garlic and Serrano peppers, which makes then hotter than jalapeños. The downside to eating this dish is that the corn tortillas are not homemade, but packaged, a big disappointment. I would expect homemade considering their extremely high prices. I probably will stick to El Tiempo, this place had too many downsides to return. Finally, the rice was the best part, pieces of cheese in it. But the beans, only a few spoonfuls in the smallest of bowls (see photos). I could have ordered more, at a ridiculous $6. a side order. Jeez. I did like the ambiance. I'm so grateful that restaurants like these are still around. This was our first time at Laurenzo's and it definitely won't be the last!! The vibe is perfect for this time of year, cozy and nostalgic!! I started with the wedge and my husband had the greek salad, both were perfect! Fresh and chilled, just like salads should be! Next we split the 16 oz Prime Rib with Mashed Potatoes and Mac-n-Cheese. I cannot say enough how freaking awesome the Prime Rib was and with the whipped horseradish sauce...to die for!! 5 star alert!! I remember trying this spot out when they first opened up. I had the filet mignon Philly cheese steak that was amazing. This was quite a few years ago. Today we were celebrating my cousins 65th birthday and we had such an amazing time! Service: everyone here that works here is so nice and attentive. They kept out drinks full and all of the food was brought out at the order time. Food: crab cakes were so flavorful and tasty. I highly suggest getting them. The spinach dip was really good as well. The prime rib was so good and full of flavor. Every bite was just amazing! The cremated corn is very special. I have never raised creamed corn like this. It was so good it was almost like a dessert. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. I have been a couple of times in the past, but for brief encounters or a quick bite. This time was a bit different.
