Easily the best Lebanese in Columbus! Chicken Shawarma plate, baba and hot sauce -- all amazing!

This is more of a busy little spot. More of a younger crowd feel. You stand in the line place your order type of deal. The food wasnt bad but it wasnt anything that I would crave or have to drive across town for. Nothing in my mind makes me need to try any of it again. It is a decent little spot to go in have more of a real meal and keep on moving. I would recommend if your in the mood for some gyros thats day. read more

My favorite place to eat Mediterranean food! The staff is super friendly and overall a very inviting establishment. I love the falafel! It's so delicious! Highly recommend the Shawarma sandwiches and Shawarma entree as well. Also, if you're looking into just grabbing some coffee or have a sweet tooth like me, they have a great variety of desserts for you to choose from and their Turkish coffee is a must! I'm currently pregnant & crave yummy food that is nostalgic for me. My nephew took me to Lavash Cafe with the promise of great food. I have to admit that they managed to exceed my expectations! Name any middle eastern food that you've tried in the past and they have it here! The owner is really down to Earth and very friendly. Amazing customer service with delicious appetizers and dessert. I finally got a chance to head to Lavash, and it only took four years! It's been on my radar ever since I lived behind it at Olentangy Village, but I think I took its location for granted and then never ended up going. So much has been written about this place already that I won't be contributing anything too new to the conversation, so I'll try to keep it short. First off, this place has plenty of parking with a large private lot in the back plus plenty of street parking along High St. The inside is not very big, so I'd be wary of bringing large groups in. You order at the counter, and they call your name once your order's up to grab it. I went with the beef and lamb shawarma on the Lavash bread which is like a wheat wrap, and my girlfriend tried the chicken shawarma on the regular Greek (Mediterranean?) style bread. I also went with hummus and fries and a chocolate and almond baklava. The food was out quickly, and my shawarma was pretty tasty, but I think I like Pita House's shawarma a little better. The Lavash bread was just okay for me. The meat was tasty and had lots of flavor, but I'm not sure if the rest of the ingredients added much to the dish. My girlfriend's chicken shawarma was very good, however. It was definitely the garlic sauce that came with it, and the bread was much better in my opinion. The hummus was tasty, but the pita bread was a bit burnt. I really loved the fries and the seasoning that was on them. It's a pretty big order and could definitely be split between two people. The baklava was great as well, and I probably could have stuffed down more of those, but I managed some self control. Overall, probably not my favorite Mediterranean spot in Columbus, but I do want to try some of their other non-sandwich dishes, because they look delicious. I definitely won't write them off based on the other reviews, but if I'm looking for a lamb shawarma sandwich, I'll definitely be sticking to Pita House. read more

I posted my previous one star review on my local Clintonville Discussion Forum Facebook page (post has now been removed by moderators). I was met with a lot of indignation, bullying, and it was also insinuated that I'm, perhaps, ignorant of immigrants' cultural norms/mores (which is interesting, since I'm Indian-American, my parents are 100% straight from India, I've lived in India/traveled abroad, and speak two other languages fluently other than English). In either case the pros: - The owner's son, who is also a co-owner, bought new trays so that all trays will be washed after one use. No more germs! Hummus for all! - He made a donation in my name to the Clintonville Resource Center for as "a gesture of goodwill". However, the cons: - The only explanation that was given for the the owner's rude behavior was my apparent misunderstanding of cultural norms. No apology, just that he couldn't have behaved the way I described. So, dear Yelpers, take my experience at face value. If you want good food, then this is definitely the restaurant to try. Nothing in my review suggests that the food is anything but delicious. If you have started to love Lavash over the years, and feel brave enough to offer some kind suggestions, then, perhaps, don't do it. I'll admit, it took me a few times to find my item at Lavash. I've literally tried almost everything on the menu. From the Tabbouleh Salad, to the Shawarma, Kippeh, Grape leaves, regular old french fries to hummus and baba-- my favorite thing to order has to be the Blackened Snapper Fish meal. It's pricey yes, but it's good! If i'm not in the mood for fish, I'll order the Lamb Chops but beware -- they are a little smaller than you'd expect so if you're a big eater... don't do it. Overall, Lavash is good and it's always a pleasure on the eyes and the mouth... not always a pleasure to my wallet as it is sometimes expensive to eat here often. But yeah, as many have said before me, Lavash has to be one of the better Mediterranean restaurants here in Columbus. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Columbus. Their pita is so fluffy and their hummus is second to none. Everything I've tried on their menu has been delicious and flavorful. My favorites are the shawarma and Lavash combo. It makes me sad that they're struggling because of COVID. I've ordered since the pandemic and felt they were super safe. Met Arvid (fellow Yelper) for a Saturday lunch. This restaurant's food is definitely better than a chain. However, I tried their Special of the day - Lamb Moussaka - and I'm not sure it was enough flavor. I really couldn't taste the lamb. And for $16? The dish comes with a side of their rice, but I didn't want the starch. They happily subbed in a side salad, which comes with an italian-esque dressing (not sure if they make this, but it was a good dressing!). The fresh crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes were wonderful on that sunny afternoon. This spot is a fast-casual concept. It was kind of awkward having to order at the counter, get a number, then have to go back up to get your food and drop your number sign in a basket up front. The physical space of this eatery is long and narrow. If it weren't still too chilly outside, I would have been all for that nice patio. read more

When I lived in Germany there was a large Turkish population and that is where I learned to love the food and coffee, I was an absolute fiend for it! I had the chicken curry with rice n salad. The chicken was kinda dry,and there were only 4 small pieces of potato but the curry sauce redeemed it all nicely. Got lavash instead of pita. Endless green tea always a win! If you're a coffee lover, try the Turkish coffee, strong as all get out and you won't sleep for the next two nights, but omg is it good! I have had most of the menu items here and for what it is, it is very good. And I appreciate the consistancy of the dishes. For the money, this is a much healthier way to eat. For a dollar or so more you can make better choices than fast food. You can call ahead and get it to go if you're crunched for time. The deserts are awesome, try the baklava, just the right amount of not-too-sweet goodness with your coffee. There is a side patio to people and traffic watch while you enjoy your meal. I love this place. Trying to manage my carbohydrate intake a little so I changed it up the last time I went. I love their lamb. All their meats are very well prepared. Restaurant tip; it's nice when you see a good amount of cooks in the kitchen, which I noticed at Lavash. Very nice and open to questions you may have. Great fresh hummus and samplers. Lavash is a great little spot to grab a bite in the Clintonville area. It's location on High Street is super convenient because they have their own lot as well as street parking. It's is my go-to spot for falafel and hummus. ~~The best I've had here~~ Their falafel sandwich (wrapped in lavash) with a side of hummus is super delicious and a dynamite lunch or dinner if there ever was one--some of the best in the city. I don't know what they do to their hummus, but it's my favorite I've ever had. So if you're in the mood for a little Mediterranean I'd recommend giving it a-go. Their pistachio baklava rocks my socks. If you dig pistachios it's a mighty fine after lunch/dinner dessert. You won't be sorry. ~~Worthy mention~~ Their grape leaves are good, but not greatest ever, but that doesn't mean I've stopped ordering them. I have also tried their Shawarma (Beef & Lamb) sandwich and it was good, but not my everything. Their best seating is outside on the patio so if it's nice, I'd recommend grabbing a spot out there. Amazing food, friendly staff, fantastic service. We really don't come here nearly enough. The meat is juicy and delicious, the rice is satisfying, the hummus and bread just hit the spot, the sauces are divine (go for the white sauce and the spicy sauce for your rice and meat), they even make piña coladas. I've also had their catering many times and it is delicious as well. My wife decided she likes Lavash more than Cafe Istanbul, although both are great. We can't wait to go back to Lavash. read more

Stopped in for lunch with a friend and split the combo for 2. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. Try your hardest not to load up on the amazing pita and hummus and save room for everything else because you will want to try it all. Lavash is top notch! Every time I go to LaVash I'm greeted with the warmest welcome and the staff are always so accommodating! I've tried almost everything on the menu lol! I don't know why it has taken me this long to write a review! SoOo definitely get the regular hummus, not really into the black bean stuff, the kabobs are great, add the garlic sauce, saffron rice, and grilled veggies- and we're talking bomb.com folks! The baklava is great, not sure which one is which, just close your eyes and point- they're all really good! Almond chocolate cake- yes! Falafel-yes! Daily specials- yes! Wondering if you should visit- Yesss! ; ) Tip: Additional parking is located in the back of the restaurant next to Condado. We've eaten here many times in this location and past locations known as Firdou's, and the food is consistently very good. I think they may have the best humus in town. Ditto for the lentil soup. Chicken is very tasty and seasoned well. Ask about the spice level on some of the foods, it may be a surprise for people who are not expecting it. Counter ordering is efficient. They have their ordering system down, although since this takes place at the front of the store, sometimes the line is out the door. Open kitchen and they coordinate orders well enough, announcing your order. Nice outdoor seating, but the tables usually need attention. Bathrooms are well maintained in a very busy environment. I enjoyed Lavash Cafe but wouldn't return. The pros: friendly service, nice casual atmosphere, big portions, fancy soda machine with dozens of flavors, food made fresh, big dessert selection. Cons: I just didn't love most of the food. Compared to other middle eastern restaurants that I frequent in other cities, I didn't care for a few of their dishes, specifically the falafel, grape leaves, baba ganoush and pita (very thick and bready). This is just my personal opinion however - I don't think anything was made poorly, they just weren't my taste. I think Lavash Cafe is definitely worth a visit. read more

"I have a confession to make. With the last bite that I took, I accidentally drooled a little bit." That was what my boyfriend told me on my way back from the bathroom. He was talking about the homemade walnut baklava. If I rated this place only on the baklava, it would get a 5 star, hands down. I used to make baklava in high school, trained by my Latin teacher, so I have a very particular view of what it should look and taste like. The homemade walnut baklava sold here is the closest thing I have ever had to that recipe. It is so mouthwatering, you might drool while you eat it! We of course took several pieces to go for us and friends. We have also had some of the food items here. He got the lamb kabob on a pita and I got the beef shwarma on lavash. His was great! The lamb had a nice smoky tasty to it and tender. The tahini sauce on mine was very good. I liked the lavash too which kind of reminded me of Indian chappati. However, the meat was very tough. I didn't end up finishing it. He ordered a Turkish coffee to go and it ended up being something like 2 servings of Turkish coffee based on my experience. It had a nice spice and heavy cardamom taste to it. The service is fast and the place allows for takeout, quick sit and eat, or eat and chat for a while. They also have a small outdoor seating section that we would have tried if not for the cold. Next time I'll get a lamb sandwich instead. And of course baklava to go. read more

This place was fantastic. You order your meal and it is prepared and brought to your table. Everything was fresh and home made. The portions were in line with the prices and area but the quality of the items and the flavor were exceptional. They had many choices for those who are vegetarian as one in my party is. Even though it was a self service type setup, they serviced the tables bringing water, bread and anything else needed. Great attention to detail. Thanks to the recommendation of our Uber driver, we ended up here for some much needed Palestinian grub! The service was on point and the food was exceptional. We tried a little bit of everything frankly: kabobs, hummus, rice, kibbeh and fatoush salad. We loved the fresh kabobs and variety of hummus types and the baba ghanoush. They even had an olive hummus that I'd never had before. Very creative! The kofta kabob and chicken kabobs were very juicy. The owner came out to greet us which was very nice of him. Very cool guy. Great atmosphere! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Came here with some friends, some of whom had lived in the Middle East and had been to the restaurant before. I got the kefta sandwich and it had great flavor! The meat was mostly juicy but the bread made it a little dry. We all shared some hummus which was really good. I tried stuffed grape leaves for the first time and they were not what I expected at all, but they were still pretty good. We all shared some sweets in the end that were delicious but a little too sugary for my taste so we ended up only eating a little bit of them and taking the rest home. read more

I ate at Lavash weekly when I lived in Columbus and miss it so much now that I've moved. The owner, Nasser Latif, is from Palestine and brings the authentic taste of the entire Mediterranean region region to Lavash. Tunisian, Moroccan, Lebanese... I have traveled in that part of the world and Lavash holds up in comparison to every restaurant I visited. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. Went here for lunch today with a friend and started with the hummus and falafel appetizers. The hummus was very flavorful and the pita bread it came with was super fluffy and delicious! The falafel was also good. I got the lamb shawarma entree, which was good, although the lamb was a little bit tough. For half the price my friend got the shawarma sandwich which came with just as much meat as the entree, but just didn't include rice. I would definitely go back but would order a sandwich next time. The food came out very fast and service was excellent. Employees were quick to clean up finished plates, and the owner even came around to each table to ask how the food was.
