It's the sister restaurant to Anar (also in Steveston Village) & both are run by two sisters - Rose at Lavash & Tila at Anar. On the menu is the typical Western menu hits - but of course I'm here for the Persian twist. Started off with some really swell drinks - Persian Lemonade & the Lavash Sunset. Splendid drinks I do say - make sure to try them. For lunch we had the Beef Burger, Lamb Shank, Prawn Biryani & Hali Heaven (seared halibut, mussels, tomatoes & saffron beurre blanc) - if you desire to have success in your mouth, order these items! All these dishes were fantastic - presentation, colour & taste all on point. You must try the delightful Lavender Panna Cotta dessert. Sensational! Superb service staff - very helpful & friendly. TLDR: Great service, wonderful location, food could be better. We had taken a long drive up from Seattle and was looking forward to a nice lunch. Being visitors, we didn't know about ample free parking options nearby and parked in the lot next to the restaurant. Convenient and not too expensive, but the server told us that we should have parked elsewhere when we asked if they validated parking. Service was friendly and efficient. The staff came around multiple times to check on water, drinks, etc. Unfortunately, the food could be better. The roasted and fried cauliflower was an entire head just coated in batter and fried. While we were eating it, we kept feeling that it was still raw. The tahini sauce drizzle was great though. So, while we ate most of it since we were starving from the long drive, we didn't enjoy it. The Persian Lamb Stew tasted just strange. Odd flavors, very little meat. We had come to Steveston Harbor for the spot prawns, but the main attraction was a disappointment. The "jumbo" prawns were tiny for $15 for 3 added to any dish. We also had their "Seaside" Fish and Chips. Well battered without overwhelming the fresh rockfish, and with a mound of perfectly crispy fries, this was the saving grace. read more

Every angle of this restaurant will get you a great view while dining. Service is very polite and attentive. The plates for kids are huge! The fish n chips are about the same size as my full-size serving of fish n chips just minus the salad. I recommend this restaurant for a lovely romantic date rather than a place to bring young children. Even though they have a section for children, it's on the expensive side. read more

Persian, Mediterranean cuisine! This resto is where the former Sockeye City Grill in Steveston is. Space is huge with lots of seatings and also a second floor for additional space. We came for Happy Hour because of the 25% off for the same portion of food. Dishes were so so. We had the following and none of them were remarkable enough for a comeback. It's not too too bad either but could refine dishes a notch higher. Persian Beef Brisket Bowl Whole Roasted Cauliflower Shipyard Mussels Prawn Spaghetti Fishermans Pasta Chicken Taco Lamb Shank Strange is we sat til 8:00 when they close and only two tables, including us, were occupied since 4:30pm. High quality and very delicious seafood dishes. We ordered the prawn salad and steam mussel, both were well prepared and exceeded my expectation. The fish and chips looked very tempting and I look forward to coming back to this restaurant again. Lavash is correct! Service and food are as flat as its name.... Stevenston village is a little destination I take once awhile to buy some fresh seafood at the Fishermen's Wharf harbour and grab a quick bite if time permits. Decided on this place, came here a couple of times when it was called Sockeye Grill and came here once when it changed name. As far as I recalled, last experience was nothing worth mentioning, therefore was hopeful this time around it would be better (deserve a 2nd chance right?) Arrived and greeted, got a table. Seemed like the lunch rush was over cause many tables inside and out were vacant. Here was the order I placed and never get... 1. Lobster bisque 2. Clam chowder 3. Hali heaven 4. Halbit fish and chips The moment I placed the order until I checked the time, it was literally 45minutes (no exaggeration). The only thing I got was my drink at the beginning and never heard from anyone again. The 2 tables came after me just got their food. Since my server disappeared; I waved down another server and was told the kitchen is behind and probably another 30-40 before my food is ready (like literally wtf.. did i ordered a whole whale or something?) Is it really that hard to reheat 2 bowls of soup and deep fried a dozen pieces of calamari?? (That Chinese comedian Jimmy is right! Order 2 scallops from places like this and the whole kitchen is in panic mode). Last time was 45minutes before food came and this time 45mins and nothing came.... I waved down another server and canceled my order. I wanted to pay for my drinks before I left but he said no it's okay and apologized. It appears like I am not the only person having such experience with this place according to reviews. It seems like this place doesn't care much, it's operating on the mentality of the fact that is located on a tourist attraction spot and customers will come and eat regardless. I honestly don't see why anyone would actually come here for sub par food and wait over 45mins to maybe get your food, and that is on a good day. If you are those who like spending above money for sub par food with nothing to else better to do in life, this place could be for you. We were so looking forward to fish and chips at our favorite place on the Steveston Boardwalk. Arrived to discover this place instead. Almost no seafood on the menu. Seated outside and it was lovely. Then they moved our umbrella and left u in the blazing sun. Drink order was screwed up but corrected. They moved us to a shady table. Then a vocalist with a rhythm ace appeared right next to us! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out at Lavash Seaside Grill. each dish we ordered was absolutely delicious and we really appreciated the wide range of choices on the menu, not to mention the reasonable prices. even though the restaurant was full, the service was great. We even got to meet the owner who was very welcoming, gracious and kind. As an added bonus, the restaurant has a lovely direct view of the water and the docks. We went here for dine-out. This entire experience was a disappointment. For the appetizers, my husband ordered the prawns which were undercooked and I ordered the calamari which was overcooked. The mains were good but the dessert was disgusting. The tiramisu was incredibly dry. The worst part of this was the service. The seem extremely disorganized. The food took forever to arrive and when it did, the server wouldn't even let you ask for hot sauce or anything else because they were gone in seconds. During the entire time we were there, not once were we asked if we needed anything else or how everything was (basic questions most servers ask). Horrible, horrible dining experience that ruined my Thanksgiving weekend with my family. We ended up calling the police after a major argument with the server, and despite the poor service, I was forced to pay an 18% gratuity fee. From the beginning, things were off. When we were seated, the cutlery was dirty, with food still stuck on it. When I pointed it out, the server blamed the dishwasher. Then, when the beer glasses arrived, all of them had paint chips on the rims. I asked for new glasses, but they blamed the fridge instead of simply replacing them. Our family ordered halibut and chips, two pasta dishes, and mussels. When the mussels arrived, they were undercooked, which is extremely dangerous for shellfish. I took a bite and immediately realized they were neither fresh nor safe to eat. It was infuriating to think that my 7-year-old niece, nephew, or even my 2-year-old daughter could have been the ones to take the first bite. Although I wasn't happy with the meal or service, we couldn't just leave because the kids were starving, and we were a group of eight, including my parents who are in their seventies. At the time of payment, I was asked to pay around $280, and I wasn't even given an itemized bill. When I finally received it, the total for our meal was only $230. I said I would pay for the food but not for the terrible service. The server insisted that because we were a group, I had to pay an 18% gratuity. Ridiculous. When I refused to pay the gratuity, the server physically stopped me from leaving and threatened to call the police, which I agreed to. While we waited for the police, she began video recording me as I was upset and raising my voice. But I only started yelling after she insulted me, calling me a 'b**ch' and making racist remarks, saying I was a 'poor Chinese' (and I'm not even Chinese), that I looked poor, and accusing me of being drunk--anything she could say to escalate the situation. When the police arrived, the server completely lied, pretending to be the victim. Because of the lies she made in front of them, the police officer was unwilling to hear my side of the story at first. In the end, they made me pay what the restaurant asked for, claiming it's 'the BC rule.' Really? I'm usually generous with tips and automatic gratuity fees because I frequent restaurants that provide exceptional service and enhance the overall dining experience. But I'm genuinely confused as to why auto-gratuity is expected when the quality of service doesn't meet basic standards. These people desperately need hospitality training. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE, THE PRICE IS RIDICULOUS, AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE SERVICE YOU EXPECT FOR WHAT YOU PAY. read more

This local loves Lavash! I grew up and live in Steveston and have seen my fair share of fish and chip efforts - and this is the best I've had. And I don't say that lightly. We had halibut and chips - it was cooked to perfection, the batter was perfectly balanced, not over or under cooked. The fries were crispy and delicious (I'm not a fan of the soggier British style chips), tartar sauce was delicious along side a dash of coleslaw. If you have room for a warm up, the Sexy Olives are just that and the Lavash Classic Hummus is fantastic (I'm chickpea'd out lately but this hummus was everything!). While there are more famously known places for F&C, I would absolutely give this newcomer a try. We sat seaside on the patio, an excellent way to spend a summer night. We'll be back! read more

Bad and extremely underwhelming. I wanted to get the chowder which on the menu stated it could come without bacon but then it turned out bacon was an integral part... So no chowder. Got the lentil soup instead and it was just bad...no other word for it. It tasted sour and otherwise had no flavour. Came with completely pedestrian bread, no butter offered. The Ceasar salad could have come from any grocery store. While we were waiting for our bill I overheard the table beside us comment that their food wasn't very good. Can't say enough positive things about our experience here this month. We went with friends, and liked it so much we went back again two days later. All the food choices both times were excellent - delicious, memorable. We aimed more for the Persian-inspired items, but the menu is wide-ranging enough for anyone to find something - seafood, vegetarian, chicken, etc. It's a pretty place, and perfect for people-watching on the Steveston boardwalk. read more

Oct. 12-Do not eat here...you are better off at Blue Canoe. First of all we were seated for 15 mins and the server never acknowledged us. Finally she takes our order and while we waited almost 30 mins for our food to arrive the manager comes and ask us if we are ready to pay the bill. We told here we haven't received our food yet. She went to check on the order and said we were right in line with timeframe and I stated that 30-35 minutes was a bit excessive for fish and chips. Once the food came I was tired of waiting so I asked for a to-go box and the thought was I would have a better dining experience in the comfort of my own home. Oct 26-I decided to give this place another try. This time I brought 2 friends along. Friend #1 orders a cheeseburger but was brought a fillet of fish. Friend #2 also ordered a cheeseburger but was undercooked. I ordered the usual fish & chips and requested no tartar sauce and explained that I have a food allergy. When the fish and chips arrive it had extra tartar sauce. I asked the manager who brought the food to the table to please take the tarter sauce away and she said "what's wrong I thought you said extra tarter sauce" I explained to her a 2nd time that I have a food allergy and to please take it away from the table. She then insisted aggressively that I asked for extra tartar sauce. At that point my friends and I were so disappointed and disgusted with the service that we would not let this establishment disappoint us any further. We told the manager that we would rather not eat there and would pay for any drinks that we consumed and she gestured to show us the door. F@&k this place!!!...it can burn down for all I care. LAVASH SEASIDE GRILL I have lived in Richmond for 45 years, never have I felt the need to write a review about my poor treatment from a dining establishment. I turn 80 soon, for months I have been planning a celebration to mark this milestone birthday with several friends and family. In September, we first met with management at Lavash Seaside Grill. We were shown a specific location in the restaurant for our gathering on November 30th, 2024. We were told that as far as menu items, they would be able to provide whatever we wanted. They even offered to bring in specific items for us if it wasn't made in house. I paid a cash deposit. In October, the manager advised of two menu changes, which I agreed to. I paid the remaining balance in full. With the venue and menu secured, invitations to attend were sent to my guests. At 4:00 pm on November 18th, the manager called to say that since a larger party was coming in, the area we had been shown, agreed to and paid for was no longer available to us. I was told that my party would have to move to an upstairs location. This sudden change was distressing to me. Some of my intended guests have mobility challenges and are unable to climb stairs. With the holiday season approaching, finding an alternate venue was not possible. I was left with no choice but to cancel my 80th birthday party. Although I did receive my deposit and payment back, I am appalled that management did not keep their word. I am deeply disappointed with the non-professional treatment by this establishment. I and my intended guests have vowed never to support this establishment. I urge you to do the same. read more
