Def been a while since I was last on Solano Ave in Berkeley but heard good things about this bakery and was in the area so why not. Coming from SF with some of the best bakeries in the bay....cant compare. Tried their Oreo cheesecake, the apple tart, the pistachio Turkish delight , plain croissant and carrot Cupcake. The apple tart with almost paste was delightful, the Turkish delight was good but only in small portions as it's quite dense and the carrot cupcake was moist and delicious! Those were the standouts. The others were meh.

Lavender Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries (to die for cheesecake and pies) and I wanted to try their custom cakes for my in-laws' 50th anniversary party. They offered a complimentary cake tasting box which I thoroughly enjoyed and decided on marble cake with chocolate hazelnut ganache. Moist, flavorful and not too sweet. I had submitted some inspo cake pics and they did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful with the requested gold and blue with gold flecks. The Cal Bruin wedding bears they made were so cute and memorable. Truly a remarkable bakery with talented cake decorators. My FIL loved it so much he put the cake photo as his phone wallpaper!

This is the sister bakery to Butter Sugar Flour in Sunnyvale. First time visiting the Berkeley location with bright and larger interior with inviting display of sweet treats. My favorite items are the Mexican Wedding Cookies (called Tea cookies at Butter Sugar Flour). Buttery and melt in your mouth with chopped pecans. Also bought a lemon bar which was a tad too sweet for me but the crust is a nice shortbread. Uncle liked the apple danish but mentioned it was more apple jam vs chunks of cooked apple within. Pricing very reasonable Service friendly and welcoming. Located on the corner of upper Solano (The Alameda) and Colusa near Andronico's Market. Metered street parking available

Beautiful cakes and pastries. Viennoiserie is casual - croissants are not the super tall layered beasts you see often in the bay, but are buttery and delicious. Savory scone was an unexpected hit - soft and tender. Eclair is well made, but at least for the pistachio, flavoring is only in the icing, cream filling is standard.

Aesthetic spot on a wholesome small town-esque street. As I walked inside I was absolutely astounded by the pastry and cake options. I initially heard that they have plenty of inside seating to work but was disappointed to see that they removed all of their seats and tables. I opted to get an almond croissant and a cappuccino which unfortunately did not live up to my expectations. The croissant was stale (I bought it at 10am) and the cappuccino tasted burnt. I've heard great thing about this place in the past, I hope this was just a fluke.

Came here on a Friday afternoon and got lucky and snatched the last two personal size burnt almond cake! Pro tip: you can order a lot of their cakes and pastries ahead of time on their website (at least day in advanced) if you do not want to risk coming in only to find what you wanted has sold out. This bakery serves a variety of cakes and desserts as well as coffees and teas. I've had their napoleon cake here before as well and it's divine but nothing can beat their burnt almond cake! The burnt almond cake has a strong a natural almond taste and not that artificial almond flavor you can find at other bakeries. The cake itself is very rich and moist. The fresh whipped cream frosting and the toasted almonds on the outside adds a very nice complexity and texture to the cake. The staff here are very friendly and will answer all your questions. The inside of the cafe does not have seating but there are a few tables outside. Parking here is mostly metered street parking but they do have a small parking lot as well. Overall a solid bakery and I will always recommend coming here if you're in town.

The bakery is fronted with large plate glass windows. There were a couple of occupied tables outside as well as some tables with benches and chairs inside. The interior is bright and airy. The display cases are full of beautiful cakes, pastries and cookies. It would be very easy to over order because everything looks so delectable. Somehow, I managed to keep my order down to six items but only because they were out of the one thing that I really stopped by for, a Leek Bistro, known at other bakeries as a Leek & Parmesan Croissant. Guess it just gives me another excuse to drop by! Service was terrific. I told the clerk that I would be getting a few items so she placed each on a tray until I finished ordering. That made it a lot easier for her to determine what size box to give me.

My boyfriend and I visited here last week during our trip to the area! There were so many options to choose from and everything looked delicious. We ended up choosing the lemon bar and the hazelnut neapolitan. Both were delicious! We would absolutely return again to try more items! Just knocking off one star for limited seating, there was seating outside, but I would love to see some seating inside too!

Literally the best Swiss cake I ever had. It was not sweet at all. I can't eat a lot of pastries/desserts due to sugar content. But this place literally blew my mind amazingly delicious this roll was. It's 10/10. Please don't ever change the recipe of it. The workers there were helpful and pleasure, the place is clean and spacious inside. This is now my go to place for some Swiss roll cake. Best time I come I am literally going to buy like 5 of them.

Fruit Tart-Individual Tart

Fruit Tart-Individual Tart looks good and it tastes good. I also buy an Éclair-Strawberry. It is delicious more than I think, I will buy it again.

I wish I could rate 10 stars. The Egyptian themed cake they created for my 50th birthday was an absolute hit! My guests still can't stop talking about it. It stole the show. I audibly gasped when I saw it. Such an incredible work of art! I've never seen a cake more beautiful, and I doubt I ever will. Just gorgeous! And not only was it the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, it was also absolutely delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. I'm still staring at photos of it, just in awe. If you want a magnificent cake that's also a work of art (and delicious), call these guys. You won't be disappointed.

Nice friendly staff and clean store. Staff recommended this burnt almond puff pastry cake thing that did not disappoint. The chocolate chip cookie was amazing too. Definitely would come back there.

I arrived around 7:30 and it was empty, but as I was deciding what to get there was a line out the door. Everything looks delicious it was so hard to choose. For myself I got the egg and ham croissant which was so unique and absolutely delicious. A perfect savory treat. I also had a bite of their strawberry-rhubarb breton which was also delicious, kinda like a shortbread cookie with cream and strawberry. The worker was super sweet helping me out and patient as I was struggling on what to order for her and myself. Small shop with meter/street parking.

Their food is generally pretty good: ranging from average (certain seasonal desserts, their ham and…read morecheese croissants, scones) to excellent (toffee cake, almond croissants, certain beads). They are on the pricey side but that's expected in the Bay Area. The reason for the two stars: of the last three times I've been there, they have gotten my order wrong TWICE. Once in a while is totally an acceptable accident but two thirds wrong is really poor service. The workers are nice but not exactly approachably friendly. They take the order in front of the register, receive payment, and then step over to the counter to collect the items. The issue is when you (I) order a lot of stuff, they get collected behind the counter and placed into a large shopping bag so you can't see what you are getting (or not getting). They walk around behind the counter grabbing stuff and those that have paid stand in a small corner away from the purchasing line so it's difficult to see what they do (or don't) pick up. The first time I came home to find my order of half loaf (they sell the large ones by halves, if you want) missing. I brushed it off as an accident. I don't live close enough to go back before they close and I wouldn't have proof anyways. This last time I went, they didn't put in a pastry! At this point, I'm down about $16 and beginning to wonder if it's deliberate. *sigh* So now I have to decide whether I boycott them altogether or only buy one or two items so I can see what I am getting or be the weirdo that takes out every item in a large shopping bag to double check their work. *sigh again*

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

Visit date: 4/19/2026…read more We came about an hour before closing on a Sunday, so unfortunately many of the items I wanted to try based on other people's recommendations were already sold out. We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
