Amazing sushi place! Super great price considering how much sushi you get. Quality is also great, better than expected ! We love coming here. Service is fast and parking is nearby, free in the neighborhood. Overall, one of my favorite sushi places in Chicago so far!
My family and I have always come here for takeout, so it's nice that they also have dine in option. Very affordable prices and very fresh fish. Our server was very patient and attentive. The seating area isn't too big but they will accommodate bigger parties (we had 6 people).
Every single roll on this platter was a 10/10!! I definitely will be back to get the tuna roll. I dont even like tuna like that but that roll was my favorite. It was flavorful and I kept going back for seconds. If you are looking to try different flavors try this place!
We decided to try the newer Lawrence Fish Market location in Chinatown since we enjoy the original location up north. We came on a Saturday evening and there were a few other tables occupied but there were plenty of open tables. We shared the rainbow roll, crunchy super white tuna roll, salmon and avocado roll, and B1 nigiri tray (28 pieces) which had the following: 2 pieces each: tuna, white tuna, tai, salmon, unagi 3 pieces each: Ika,tako,hokkigai,ebi,inari,tamago Our food came out quickly but the quality just wasn't comparable to the other Lawrence Fish Market location. Not sure if it's attributable to the foot traffic they get at this location. The fish didn't taste as fresh and the crunchy bits in the crunchy super white tuna roll tasted like reused oil. The salmon was probably the best out of the ones we ordered but the white tuna is typically one of my favorites and it didn't cut it for me.

Honestly one of the best sushi spots I've had for the quality and value. This spot offers the best value for sushi. We ordered a huge sushi platter for $30 which fed the 3 of us. We got excited and ordered another sushi platter. All of the rolls and nigiri's were fire. The fish quality was fresh. Service was great and we received our food quickly. Would highly recommend trying this spot. Wish they had one in LA!
Love Lawrence Fish Market's new location in Bridgeport (south of Chinatown). They have affordable prices on sushi and maki! Not only that, but the fish is fresh and tasty. I love being able to order takeout out sushi and eating it from home. They have online ordering, however, it isn't available for future orders. On the right side, it is catered to the carry out sushi that they are known for and then to the left, there is some seating to dine in.
Food tasted great, service was great. Restaurant not busy at all. It was peaceful and quiet. Definitely recommend trying this spot!

The fish here is very fresh and nicely priced. I had a tempura udon that was fabulous. My friend got some maki rolls that she enjoyed. Service was fine, but fairly slow. The interior is pretty plain, but it's nice that this location has dine in seating. The pricing here is so nice, I will def be back!
Nice neighborhood sushi restaurant. Service was quick. Too quick I think. We sat down and barely looked at the menu and they came by asking if we were ready. The place wasn't empty but they should see that we just sat down. We ordered enough. We had ramen, sushi rolls, sashimi and fried oysters. The food was good. Next time we can go without the ramen and order more rolls. Plenty of things to try.
Recommendations: Platter B3 - $65 (39 pieces) My friend bought the sushi platter from Lawrence Fish Market in the Chinatown location. The average cost of each sushi in Platter B3 is about $1.66 per piece. All the sushi were very fresh, and we were very satisfied with the quality. The rice portions were just right, not overstuffed like you sometimes find at AYCE restaurants. Here is the list of sushi from our order: 1. Unagi Nigiri (grilled eel with sauce, wrapped with seaweed) 2. Inari Sushi (sweet tofu pouch filled with rice) 3. Tamago Nigiri (sweet egg omelet on rice, wrapped with seaweed) 4. Hotate Nigiri (scallop) 5. Ika Nigiri (squid) 6. Hamachi Nigiri (yellowtail) 7. Maguro Nigiri (tuna) 8. Salmon Nigiri (sake) 9. Ebi Nigiri (shrimp) 10. Tako Nigiri (octopus) Condiments included wasabi and pickled ginger.

We ordered the deal of 5 rolls - item A1 and the orange sunshine roll. However, we were still hungry and ordered 3 more rolls. Kamikaze, Moonlight, and Summer rolls. My favorite roll was the moonlight because of the salmon and mango. Left feeling full and satisfied!

The maki tray rolls are quite standard so I usually order a separate specialty roll. The orange sunshine has been my favorite because the orange slice give it good citrus and fresh flavor. For the maki tray itself I would say it's not overall outstanding compared to other restaurants.

We finally made it to Lawrence Fish in Chinatown after accidentally walking to the wrong location first... and honestly, the extra 30-minute walk was still worth it. The prices were hard to beat; about $5 per roll and $5 for four crab rangoons. We tried the Shrimp Tempura, Lobster Roll, Philly Roll, and Spicy Salmon Roll. My favorite was definitely the Shrimp Tempura Roll, while my boyfriend couldn't stop talking about the Philly Roll. The crab rangoons were crispy and tasty, but I do wish they had a little more filling. A couple bites were mostly just the wrapper. Our server was incredibly friendly and fast. She was basically a track star keeping up with every table by herself, and she did an awesome job despite being so busy. Overall, really delicious sushi at an affordable price. Walked in for a very late dinner and glad the business stays open late! They have tons of options ranging from the fresh sushi to skewers and other small plates. If you're in the area and looking for a good budget-friendly option for sushi, this is a great option. We ordered the 28 piece sushi set along with the kamikaze roll. This was plenty for 2 people!! Spent the afternoon looking forward to a beautiful night for quality, affordable sushi in the city only to see my hopes being dashed in real time as I battled my way back through multiple traffic jams in the suburbs. My ETA for the original Lawrence Fish Market just kept climbing past 8pm and I didn't want to take the chance of being "that guy" by showing up 20 mins after closing. I had a desperate thought that it had been a little while since I last visited and maybe they had changed their hours to be open later so I checked the website and imagine my surprise when I saw that Lawrence Fish Market now has two locations and the newer Chinatown one was not only going to be open for an hour longer but also allowed online ordering and credit card payments to boot! I could place my order and be in Chinatown by 8:40pm. The night seemed to be saved but I avoided getting my hopes too high as I know that different locations can sometimes be not as good. It was clear that was not the case when I walked into the storefront off 31st Street to see that they had not only seemingly transferred all of the good aspects of their flagship down South but also improved a little by adding a decent dining area that would be perfect for hanging out with a couple of friends while enjoying some A+ sashimi or maki rolls. I had placed my order ahead on the website and everything was ready to go when I walked in. Attentive and friendly staff handed it over and when I got home I went to town on the A1 maki platter and Mexican roll that I ordered. Everything was delicious and all the ingredients tasted fresh. So happy that Lawrence Fish Market had added another location to their business. Will definitely continue to be a happy patron of both! read more

Came to this location a few times already. It's just too good of a deal to pass up! Perfect place for a quick bite when you're craving sushi. I usually stick to the same items here since some of the other fish aren't as fresh... you can really taste it at times. But aside from that, it's a great deal for what I enjoy. My recs: - negi hamachi - salmon sashimi (treat yourself to 1/2 or 1lb of salmon sashimi, so worth!) - uni sashimi Paid parking right outside - never struggled to find a spot. Restaurant is quiet and spacious. Staff is awesome. read more

First place I stopped on my visit to Chicago & it was the best way to start my trip. Sushi & sashimi prices were very affordable & high quality. The fish was very fresh, and service was quick. I didn't order much because I had plans to eat afterwards, but I really wish I could've tried more from the menu. Definitely on my list to go back! read more

I was so excited to hear they were opening a closer location. The opening date got pushed back but no biggie, it will be worth the wait. I finally got a chance to order my usual for takeout. The original Lawrence's is a Chicago icon known for its quality, taste and price. It even mentions on their site bringing affordable sushi at a competitive price. While the Chinatown menu is still competively priced, I just can't get over how prices are about 20% more than the original location. I've been dragging my feet going there and caved today because the sushi craving was too much to fight. It tastes pretty much the same quality wise. The two knocked off stars are for the pricing. Lawrence's is practically a Chicago icon. I obviously don't have access to their financials but the original location remodeled and expanded. When they were closed for remodeling, they were able to set up a temporary location. They opened a second location with an expanded menu and dine in. They've been around for the longest time and obviously have the capital. Which is why I am so dissappointed with the increased pricing for this location. What annoyed me most is the extra charge for masago for the california roll. They've never done this and still don't for the original location. Another dissappointing money grab. To add insult to injury, the rolls barely had any or no masago. I think I might just stick to the original location when it's convenient. I am considering the expanded dine in options like ramen but maybe later when my wallet recovers. read more
This was my third visit here, and each time the sushi and service have been outstanding. It's a small but cozy spot and seating is first come first serve I believe. We were excited to hear they'll be opening a patio (not sure if this is new or a seasonal thing) + bar next month! The platter we ordered was reasonably priced for the amount of food, and the fish was incredibly fresh. The salmon nigiri was definitely our favorite! Staff is so friendly and helpful. C3 48 pcs - California & Spicy Tuna rolls, 30 pcs of tuna, salmon, unagi, white tuna, tai, ika, ebi, hokigai, tamago, inari Salmon, white tuna, and unagi were my favorites. Hokigai, shrimp, squid were subpar texture-wise. But overall, decent quality. Nothing was spoiled. They filled up a lot of this platter with cheap Cali rolls. You can get better prices for quality AND quantity at 312 fish market at 88 market. read more
I'm excited to see that there is a new location on this side of town! I placed a to-go order for a maki platter (A4) for a potluck that I went to and it was able to feed about 13 of us comfortably in a potluck setting - we also had leftovers! I also placed a separate small order of nigiri and specialty rolls on the side. The Banzai roll was really yummy and spicy. Everything was fresh and tasted good. The sushi for the nigiri were also pretty big. Obviously, it's not the best sushi out there but for the price, you can't beat it! It definitely satisfies the sushi cravings. In addition, you can also order fish by the pound so i'll definitely consider that next time I want to make something at home that requires fresh sushi-grade fish. If you're looking to dine-in, they have a restaurant space inside! Otherwise, you can call them to order the large platters and you can place your regular and smaller orders online. read more
I've been hearing so much buzz about this place for the affordable prices and large quantities. I ordered a few rolls for takeout and fairly enjoyed everything! The only complaint I have may just be the rice - it was a little hard but the fish itself is fresh. If you're looking for sushi that won't break your bank, this place is def worth it. read more

The hype is real!! This is one of the more affordable sushi options around the Chinatown area, without the sacrifice of quality! We got the sushi&maki set 1 along with a summer roll and a couple pieces of nigiris to go. Everything was super fresh and delicious! We are so happy to have a Lawrence's near us southsiders now :D read more
We ordered a platter to go and the rolls were average. It might have been because we ordered one of their more basic platters but we didn't find it that special in terms of flavor. Definitely affordable and you get what you pay for. Staff was super nice and that alone would make us return and order for future parties! read more

You get what you pay for here. If you're on a budget but still crave sushi, you can come here and get their platters. I don't think I'll be coming back but it gets the job done if you're trying to satisfy a craving. There's paid street parking right outside the building and seating inside. I enjoyed the rainbow dragon , spider, and E.T. rolls. read more
