I trusted this shop for 12 years, but this experience ended that relationship. I hope no one else has to go through what I experienced. My car was towed to Lawrence Auto Repair on 11/11/25 for installation of a used transmission with 78,000 miles. I paid $2,863.72 on 11/17/25, which included a 90-day warranty. On my drive home, the car immediately began jerking while cruising. I contacted Sam and was told to bring the car back. Because I was almost home, I returned the vehicle the following day. I was told the car would need to stay a few hours while they waited for a part, and transportation home was provided. Later that same day, I was told the car was ready. At that time, I was told the transmission was still not right but advised to drive it 300-400 miles and return if the problem continued. Not feeling comfortable with that advice, I took the car to a different shop on 11/21/25 for a 70-point inspection. That inspection revealed burnt, milky transmission fluid and metal on the drain plug, indicating internal transmission failure and contamination. After receiving this information, I immediately contacted Lawrence Auto Repair and requested a refund, as I no longer trusted the repair. Sam then offered to have the transmission rebuilt by another shop at no additional cost, with a 3-year warranty. I returned the car on 11/22/25. Sam was apologetic at that time. I picked up my vehicle on 12/5/25. The final invoice reflects a 36-month / 3,600-mile warranty. While the shop ultimately corrected the situation, this issue should never have occurred in the first place. While I appreciate the final resolution, this experience permanently damaged my trust. read more

We are in the middle of a huge summer road trip from northern AB to Cali and our power steering system broke down. Talk about panic and stress. So thankful for Yelp and finding Lawrence's shop just a few blocks from our hotel. They open at 8am but I popped by earlier to drop my vehicle off. Sam, at the front desk, greeted with me patience and a warm smile. He gave me and my kiddo refreshing cold bottles of water which honestly helps a lot when you are overwhelmed and over heating. They repaired my vehicle in a flash and even let me keep it there overnight so that I wouldn't have to miss out on Disney time with the fam jam. When I picked it up, Sam had the broken piece ready to show me and the mechanic to answer any of my questions. The write up was clear and he highlighted the warranty part through NAPA and the roadside assistance that comes complimentary with the fix. Of course I wish this had never happened but I sure am thankful that it did happen in town (and not on the desert highway) and that I was able to lean on my fellow Yelpers to find somewhere close by and trustworthy. I love this shop and thankful it's near my house . Mohammad and Steve I believe his name was really went above and beyond for me last week . Went in for an oil change , ended up needed more work. I was there with my 1 yr old daughter so didn't want to be there for hrs so he had a very nice mechanic drive us home and pick us up. I thought I was gonna have to walk home with her but so thankful I didn't have to. Their prices are soooo reasonable and don't ever feel haggled here. I feel comfortable and can trust that everything they recommend is valid . I have never found a place I can trust because I worked in auto for 5 years I know behind the scenes and always been skeptical of car shops . And because I'm a female they would always try to rip me off because they thought I didn't know about card.They don't try anything like that here. I worked nearby and my splash guard underneath my front bumper came undone and it was dragging so I had to find the nearest shop. The only auto mechanic I go to where you feel more than a customer. My sister used to drive from Hawthorne here for a oil change but recently relocated so the distance is too far or else she would come. I remained loyal to them due to a issue I thought was bigger than it was and they took me the same day. There was a small pebble lodged in the tire and break that made the worst sound. The team at Lawrence's Auto Repair absolutely saved me! I took my car in earlier today after the red oil can light turned on as I was pulling into my hotel here in Anaheim. I'm here just until tomorrow morning so I started to panic a bit just thinking of having to take my car in and having to deal with being overcharged and treated as women tend to be treated when going to a mechanic. Well, after reading one of their sparkling yelp reviews and speaking on the phone with one of the team members, I can honestly tell you that I have never EVER had a more pleasant experience at an auto repair shop than the one I had today. I do not believe I'll ever find a mechanic I trust and appreciate more than I do Mohammad and his team. I first reached out to them on Christmas Eve in 2014 with a need for an oil change on my Subaru to drive home to Santa Cruz. They took care of it that day, and kept my business for the following 6+ years for services including brakes, battery replacements, fuel sensor fixes, serpentine belts, and probably more that are slipping my mind as I write this review. Mohammad is direct about the things he can't help with, and gave me advice on how to avoid being swindled by other mechanics. He does his research for product recalls at the expense of earning more money. We occasionally brought Lily, our 55-lb husky-akita mix, to the shop while we waited. Mohammad would give her a bowl of water and a can of cat food to pass the time (please don't expect this level of service! This is an anecdote!). They do keep a clean shop, so if you do bring your pets, please try to vacuum pet hair from your car so they can keep their shop and clothes clean! But I digress... If you live or work in Orange or LA counties, these guys are worth your business. They work with integrity and honesty, and will make you feel taken care of. This is my second time to Lawrence's Auto Repair and they have a loyal customer in me! They were kind, quick, and took the time to patiently instruct me on what I needed to know and watch for to take good care of my car in between visits. Since I don't know much about cars, I hate feeling like I'm being taken advantage of due to that lack of knowledge, rather than cared for and educated. They were fast and efficient, and didn't try to upsell me on anything that I didn't need. As a matter of fact, the Jeep dealership recommended a few things that needed to be done at my next oil change (before I was out of warranty) and Lawrence checked everything for free. He said my air filters were a little dirty, but didn't need replacement just yet as suggested by Jeep. They even took them out and cleaned them for me.
