This review is overdue. I ordered my son's 2nd birthday cake here last November 2016 as well as 10 assorted cupcakes. Everything was fresh and moist and everyone commented how beautiful the cake was and how delicious it was. Price was also acceptable, compared to other bakeries that I checked with prior. I met with the girl (her name escapes me now) prior to the birthday to discuss decorations and provided most of the decorations myself. She was polite and to the point and the cake was a huge hit. We ordered the 10 inch lemon raspberry cake and 3 different types of cupcakes (coconut, mango, and chocolate). The coconut filled cupcakes were my personal favorites. Oh so good. So I stopped in here after eating Pho next door, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I walked in. They have the BEST Tres Leches Cake. I decided to try the red velvet as well the other day and it was delicious as well. They have a couple other flavors like tiramisu, strawberry, and German chocolate. They sell this chocolate chip almond bread pudding with caramel sauce, it's a pretty big 'pan' like maybe 6-8 servings. I'll definitely be coming back. I wish they had a rewards program though. read more

We love their cakes and cupcakes. I have been here many times to pick up a cake for special occasion and each time we pick something new and delicious. Our favorite is classic red velvet because it is so light and perfectly balanced. We've also had their tres Leche cake which is a close first and a major hit at our bridal shower. Customer service is always good. We typically get a 6 inch round cake and it serves up to 6-8 easily. Perfect size when you have other desserts and just want a pretty center piece that taste delicious. Love this little bakery - glad we found it! read more

after reading all the positive yelp reviews, i chose to order my bfs birthday cake here, instead of at 85degrees. i didnt place the order over the phone, but i physically went in to LCB to place the cake order a whole week before the actual pick up date so that i can see what the cake would look like and to see what id be getting for the $55 i had to pay upfront (which is exactly double the price of 85 degrees for the exact same sized cake btw) so i went in and filled out their little order form with the date/time i needed it by, wrote what i wanted written on the cake, paid and left. the day of, i go to pick up the cake and noticed it looked nothing like the cake they had shown me when i was placing the order, it looked like a totally diff cake! i paid $12 extra to have 6 macaroons on the cake which was a total mistake on my part. the colors didnt match or even look nice...it looked like they just stuck on whichever flavors they had the most of, 2 blue 2 vanilla 1 cookie-ish and 1 pink. but since i was running late, i said oh the colors dont look that nice and left it at that, i just wanted to grab the cake and be on my way but they didnt even have a box that would fit the cake!! so the guy puts the cake in a box that i cant even close the lid to and starts mummifying the sides of the box with scotch tape.. to top it off, as im driving off and examining the cake more closely, i realize they even misspelled my bfs name on the cake... im like wow.. wtf?? REALLY??? this is why people stick to chain bakeries like 85 degrees or portos, cuz they dont eff up your order in every possible way... only reason why i gave them 2 stars was cuz it was ready to be picked up on time.. but they didnt even have candles that was avail for purchase.. gawd.. the whole experience was a complete nightmare read more

I came here for Macaroons. They were great! The outer shell like layer melts in your mouth when you first bite into them, followed by a hint of flavored cream and finally when you chew it has that fresh brownie consistency. YUMM. The only thing is that your options are limited sometimes (they were low on some of the flavors that I wanted) and not all macaroons were the same diameter. Ok- call me picky, but i actually bought a few dozen to create little gift packages of macaroons and my sets looked funny since some macaroons were smaller than the other. Otherwise- they were yummy as can be. Service is pretty slow during the lunch hour. The staff got a little overwhelmed and flustered with the amount of people that came for lunch-that they messed up my order. Regardless, they were kind enough to remake my sandwich and they even gave me an extra dessert. I'll definitely come back to try more dessert items! read more

A really great place for cakes. I ordered a custom chiffon cake with strawberry filling and everyone loved it. It wasn't too sweet and the cake was light. Perfect dessert after eating a big meal. The cake design was also very elegant and tasteful. Will definitely be ordering my custom cakes from here in the future. read more

I've read GRAND reviews on this place for their macaroons... i guess i can say i'm a lil bit of a macaroons snob since i usually get mine imported from Lauduree in Paris. But i had hope for this place, i bought 4 different flavors and 3 of the 4 did not taste soft and lovely at all. it seemed like they have been sitting out for a few days. :( i went at 11am-ish on a saturday or sunday morning after having a delicious bowl of pho next door. So, for Macaroons - i give this place 1 star. But... Luckily... i have just had a taste of a cake that came from this place and all i can say is DEEEELICIOUS! definitely 5 stars there! It was some kind of a chocolate cake. every bit of it was amazing. i dont think i've ever had a better chocolate cake in my life! thank you layer cake bakery! read more

I think this place is alright for the dessert, so I rate this based on how i liked the food. I was actually hungry when I ate the cupcake, but it was still iffy to me. They say food taste better when your hungry, I guess it wasn't that good from the start. I don't think the cupcakes are that fresh.... at least the one I got wasn't. Other than tasting sweet, that was it. Not much flavor in the cupcakes. I had the macarons before and it was okay. I find the cupcakes a bit expensive because they are 3 dollar a piece. Layer Cake baked our wedding cakes and they did a fantastic job! We ordered their Devil's Belgian Chocolate and Strawberry Delight cakes with buttercream frosting, and both were moist and decadent, but not too sweet. The prices were very reasonable too, just slightly more than a run-of-the-mill Asian bakery in the OC. I brought the leftovers to the office a couple of days later, where it was devoured in minutes. Three months later, some coworkers still ask me where those delicious cakes came from! read more

Tres leches is my favorite, make sure you get the sauce to go with it! The chocolate cake also won't disappoint. I've also tried the mango and I think it was raspberry and those were great too, I just prefer chocolate over everything. It's a bit pricey, but presentation is great and I love how they make/slice the cake so it's easy to eat. I love this neighborhood bakery for their American breakfast and most especially for their pastries. Their cakes are all delicious- moist, perfect sweetness, and varied in flavor. My favorites are tiramisu and velvet cake. I love to order cakes here for special occasions as they offer two different sizes. They also offer other pastries like cookies (gluten free available) and my kids favorite macarons. I'm a big fan of really good French toast and the French toast at this place is next level. Best I've ever had

The mixed reviews made me a little uncertain of what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Granted I only had a slice of the red velvet cake, but I was very impressed. The color was incredibly red which was slightly off putting because it just means a ton of food coloring, but I found the frosting to be delicious. Some people have complained the frosting tastes too strongly of cream cheese, but I wonder what they expect in a cream cheese frosting? It wasn't insanely sweet and didn't have that gritty texture like the frosting at Sprinkles has. I gone in wanting just a cupcake ($2.75) , but it looked dry so I opted for a slice instead ($4.50). The slice of cake was extremely moist and tasty. The inside is modern and upscale looking. I will definitely be going back instead making my usual trek to Sprinkles from now on. -1 star for the slightly inflated price. read more

I came here around lunch time to grab a bite to eat and something sweet. I had the Denver Omelet and a slice of the German Chocolate cake. The Denver Omelet was very good and they plated it with a side of hash browns, fruit and thin slices of toasted bread. Yummy. The German Chocolate cake was decent but I found it to be a bit dry. I love their strawberry and caramel macaroons. The only thing I'd say about their macaroons is that they're not consistent. Some days they're soft and other days their pretty hard for macaroon cookies. Their cupcakes are pretty good and also their cookies are good too and I am not really a cookie fan. ^_^ read more

My buddy took me here today after a pizza feast at Pieology. I got the almond mocha butternut something or other cupcake, and a red velvet cupcake. Both were pretty good, but quite pricey at $3.25 a pop. They were moist, and the icing on both were delicious. The atmosphere was post modern but was still pretty nice with wood on the walls and nice clean white tables. Service was average, I had to tell my order to three different people before one of them decided to put my cupcake in a box. Would I come here again? No. I'd probably just go to Sprinkles, Crumbs, or Magnoila for better and less expensive cupcakes. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to read a book. The young gentleman working the floor and register was very polite and attentive. Their coffee is okay but the macarons are great! Chocolate is my favorite, but pistachio and coffee are good as well. The cakes look amazing but I imagine them to be sweeter than I would like. There's plenty of seating and the AC is wonderful. This place has terrible breakfast and while I'm greatful to have a meal the quality here is very poor. Add to it we ordered food and almost 30 min later our food came with only one other guest in the place whom already received their food. Will never be back here again. I am onto ordering Cake #2 from LCB. They are super nice, efficient, and very dependable. They delivered on time and the cake was displayed perfectly. The first cake I ordered was a three tiered red velvet cake and it was a hit!! Everyone loved how beautiful the cake looked, and to their surprise they loved how good it taste and how moist it was. I thought it to be a bit expensive at first, but was all worth it in the end. I would rather pay extra and know that the cake looks and tastes great than get a bargain cake that might be pretty and taste awful. This second cake I am ordering is for my daughter's first birthday. I had a special request on how it would look and they totally worked with me no questions asked. I did not have to pay too much extra for what I was asking either. I have also had some of their sweets and pastries and have had no complaint about those either. Love the food, love the service, love the cleanliness, and especially love the talent in the kitchen! Great Work!! read more

My wife and I love this place, it's a favorite spot for tea together. It's extremely cozy and everyone who works there is very friendly and cheery. The tea is delicious, their fingerprints and macadamia cookies are very tasty, as well the flourless chocolate cake. Also the pulled port/BBQ pork sandwiches are unusual and very good-- I'm not even a fan of pork or ever order it, usually, but these are really tasty. I don't quite think the cakes are to die for, but there are so many other good things to like here, it's a wonderful cafe. read more
