Best thing: Nice service from Chase and lots of meat choices (plates, sandwiches, salads) and decent sides. Really liked the buffalo cauliflower, but I rarely meet a cauliflower I don't enjoy. I've had Wood Ranch catering and take out and have enjoyed. First time in the restaurant and overall disappointing. Interior has an austere manufactured feel, like chain restaurants often do. Vegas or Disneyland vibes. The garlic rolls were not good today, I usually love them. Friend agreed. Stale and oily. The meat I chose was just ok. Brisket was very fatty but tasted decent. I ate around all the fat. Tri-tip was dry. Mashed potatoes (loaded) were weird - they just slapped some cold shredded cheese and cold bacon on top. I stole some fries off someone's plate that were good. Oh well.

Although this place has pretty good service, I will say their happy hour sucks big time! None of the alcohol is on the happy hour so you end up paying at least $13 a glass for wine and at least 15 and up for a mixed drink or liquor and beer starts around $12 a pint. There are so many other places in Ventura with good food and great happy hour pricing on their alcohol. There are food happy pricing, but it looks to be only 3 to 4 dollars off the original price and smaller portions than the original entrée save your money go to two trees or someplace else. I just spent over $75 for two glasses of wine and one 4 ounce steak which is on their small plates menu.

This is not even the whole plate of fried onions... ate half and this was left. Delicious recommendation from Grace!

Grace you were AWESOME!!!! Thank you for best, fastest, most delicious food ever!! I've never seen such a giant plate of fried onions and only for $9.95 your service completely blew me away, and you are truly a gym. Had the barbecue salad with tri-tip and a dessert! Large portions all around and again the service so was FAST. Today is Sunday and the appetizer plus meal came out in under 8 mins. Thank you!!

Got here on a Friday early evening. Place was almost full. I have an idea why. Great service. Clean dining room. Comfortable vibe. Delicious BBQ meals. The Tri Tip is so tender. The sides are more than adequate. Also, 20% off for military personnel is much appreciated!

Another great dining experience here! We came in on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 and the wait was crazy but we just headed over to the bar and dined there! We had excellent service! A wonderful option as the bar tenders take great care of the customers here! My husband and I loved our meals,m! I had tri tip with mashed sweet potatoes and the signature slaw which is one of my favorite sides ever! But what really disappoints me is they mix in way too many peanuts! See my photo that shows the overwhelming amount of peanuts I picked out while still getting several in every bite. It overwhelms the slaw and kind of ruins it. My husband enjoyed the full rack of baby backs with baked beans and mashed sweet potatoes!! Highly recommend!

A group of us came here for dinner. We started off with the skinny fried onions along with artichoke and salsa. The starters were okay. I had the chicken sandwich with regular fries and that was delicious. I really enjoyed the coleslaw that was included oknthe sandwich. Others at the table the burger and fries, tri-tip, chicken breast, brisket along with various sides. Multiple people at the table opted for the small plate meals, since the portion sizes are big here. The bread they serve remains delicious. 4 stars because the food didn't blow me away and I believe it's pricey for the quality of food that is served.

First time here. I gotta say, the cocktails were delicious! The food was also great and portion sizes were big. The server was nice, attentive, and very knowledgeable. No issues whatsoever. Will definitely go back again.

Finally back to Wood Ranch. I love this restaurant but doubt go as often sure to the elevated prices. Pros: Atmosphere - it's a pretty restaurant inside. Kind of looks like an old fashioned steakhouse. Waitstaff was very attentive and nice. Temp was fine as was the noise level. Food was hit and miss. I got the sliders. Pulled pork and tri-tip. TT was great. But just very little messy. What was there was delicious though. It's also pretty sweet so it won't work for you if you do not like a sweet sauce. Baked potato was, of course, wonderful. Ooh, bread rolls. Yummy, yummy. Buttery, garlicky goodness. Cons: Pulled pork slider. Very minimal amount of meat. They topped it with slaw which i didn't care for. My BIL got the rib plate. No side salad, 5 ribs, coleslaw. It was over $20+. It was just a sad looking plate. I'll be back. On the weekends it's best to make reservations.

Really good burgers gotta say. They pretty big and juicy in the best way possible so grab another napkin I had to cut it in half to even Ben able to eat this bad boy. And the potato was hot!! Super yummy meal my only gripe is I ordered tea that was passion something can't remember the name but with a name like that I assumed it was sweetened. It was not and the menu does not say. So for future reference the tea is NOT a sweet tea. Would definitely come back for the burgers my friend loves mac and cheese and swears it's the best so that's the other plate

I told Dear Hubby that fish & chips at the harbor seemed like a great idea, and he agreed. Initially, I tried to get us a table upstairs at Brophy Brothers, overlooking the water. That was going to be about an hour's wait, so we retreated downstairs to Brophy's fast casual option - On The Alley. Essentially, it's the same fish & chips recipe, so all good there. The line was short and moved pretty quickly. While DH finished up ordering, I went out to the indoor-outdoor room to scout a table. I wasn't able to get one against the window, but we were still able to have a water view, just a bit further away. DH was hungry, so he ordered a burger, as well as the fish & chips. He shared a small portion of said burger, and it was really good. At a Brophy's establishment, I think of seafood, but thumbs up on that burger! The portion of fries they provided were extra generous. We missed having Adored Granddaughter with us, as she would have help demolish those fries! We brought some home to revive in the air fryer. I only had water, as they don't really have any beverage options that work with my restrictive dietary preferences. (i.e., no caffeine, and low- or no-sugar). The fish & chips hit the spot, although the fish was somewhat oilier than usual. DH got a cup of their delicious clam chowder, which was served with their delicious sourdough bread. That I got to have some of, and happier for it. Sunday afternoon at the harbor made for a great spot to people-watch. There were lots of folks who seemed like they had come from points east to get a break from the heat, just like us. We all tend to have a look that doesn't portray "Ventura local". Lots of young families, which was nice to see. Made us miss our granddaughter, for sure.

The outdoor patio is also very nice and calming, as well as comfortably shaded (which is great on a hot day). The food is great, and I think they are especially good on sweet breakfast items. The beignets are wonderful: crispy in the outside and soft on the inside. They aren't hollow like other beignets I've had, but I actually prefer this version. It's kinda like a light cake consistency. The sauce with them is also superb. My niece got the breakfast sandwich and I was quite envious. The combo of bacon, egg, cheese and brioche is solid, and if I could do it over again I'd order that with the hash brown (to be inserted in the sandwich). I got the chili verde and it was good, but I'd say other breakfast items I've had (the pancakes, the Benedict) are more uniquely stand out good.

Last December, a friend came across The Cave while looking for a place to have lunch in Ventura and…read moresuggested we give it a try. I'm really glad he did because it's the kind of place I probably wouldn't have found on my own. The first thing that caught our attention was the self-serve wine dispensers lined with bottles ready to sample. We had a lot of fun walking back and forth, looking over the different selections, and deciding what to taste next. Being able to sample wines by the ounce before committing to a full glass made the whole experience feel interactive. I especially liked that I could compare different Cabernet Sauvignons side by side, which isn't something you get to do very often. After trying a few different Cabernets, Chimney Rock ended up being my favorite. The dining room added to the experience. The cave-like ceilings, warm lighting, and comfortably spaced tables made it easy to settle in, enjoy our lunch, and catch up without feeling cramped or rushed. If you enjoy trying different wines, it's easy to lose track of time here. We started with a cheese plate, which turned out to be much more generous than I expected. It came with a nice assortment of cheeses, crisp apple slices, grapes, candied walnuts, crostini, and a savory relish on the side. It was a great dish to share with our wine. My friend ordered the tuna poke tower, and we shared the cheese flatbread and sweet potato fries. I went with the Original Cave Salad with salmon, which came with a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon over fresh greens, apples, grapes, walnuts, and blue cheese. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. One thing I appreciated was that we never felt rushed. Lunch naturally turned into an afternoon of catching up, comparing notes on the different wines, and deciding which pours we wanted to try next. Before we left, we wandered through the wine shop one more time. If you discover a favorite during lunch, you can pick up a bottle before heading home, which is a nice touch. I'm really glad my friend found this place. The next time I'm in Ventura, it'll definitely be on my list again.

Then our bill comes and surprising to us, we were charged a room fee (which I confirmed they DID NOT have prior to booking), charged a cake fee (just for them to store it in their fridge and NEVER told there would be a fee for bringing a dessert, despite Michele asking the day before if we were bringing our own or using them for dessert), and he charged us $50 for the bottle we accidentally broke. With all these extra charges, in addition to already paying a deposit, we were way over the previously discussed budget. I never would have agreed to his idea of everyone ordering individual dishes instead of family style plus his outrageous extra fees had I know it was going to blow the budget. He had every opportunity to tell us there is a cake fee (never have I EVER had to pay a fee to bring a cake- even our server said he felt it was in poor taste to charge us for that). We refused to pay the room fee because we already put down a deposit and were never told there would be these extraneous charges! The terrible ending happened when I slipped and fell (8 months pregnant) in the front of the restaurant RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE OWNER, who stood over me as I was on the ground, and said "you must have slipped on the wine you spilled." Never offered concern, never offered to help me and never apologized. A staff member from the kitchen ran out to help me despite Michel being an arms length from me, looking down on me. Such a disgrace. My dress was dirtied from their floor and I was left with bruises on my knees the next day. No wet floor sign, clearly the floor wasn't cleaned up properly or dried. We will never patronize this restaurant again. What was meant to be a beautiful event turned into a calamity met with a chauvinist owner who lacks customer service and compassion.

If you love seafood, you gotta check this place out in Ventura. Located right off Main Street, you will find them in the middle of Palm Street. Great ambiance and decor at this resteraunt. They have a bar with TVs so good place to catch sports as we are there for the World Cup. We ordered the grilled malhi tacos and the tuna melt. Both dishes will run you around $20 bucks and THE QUALITY HERE IS SUPERB. Food is very flavorful and fresh. Both items were a 10/10 and can't reccomend enough. Cant wait to come back and try a couple dishes that caught my eye from their menu. Thanks Rumfish y Vino for the great food and hospitality. Till next time!

Have been here many times but it's been a while, seems like happy hour or the kitchen has changed!…read moreService was fine and patio was lovely as always. Ordered the usual Watermelon Mojito and fish taco. The tortilla was extremely oily and flat and smooth unlike any tortilla I've seen. The grilled mahi mahi was very overcooked, dry and almost dusty tasting, I did not finish the taco. Fries were okay. I've been here for many meals but something seems to be different! I usually love the flatbread pizza, the leche de tigre ceviche is not what you'd hope of a true leche de tigre. Dragonfruit caipiroska is on the bland side but love the mojito. Still enjoy the $9 and $10 wines and cocktails.

Beer Pressure…read more Classic American Pub located in Ventura that features over one hundred beers on tap and classic American comfort foods in a surprisingly family-friendly environment. The Good: * Beyond all the beers on tap, they also have a full bar. * Service was friendly and pretty good overall. * Secret menu for both food and drink. Shhhh...! * Their wings were fantastic! You've really gotta try the Strawbanero (Strawberry-Habanero) sauce, as it was a sweet and savory bite that had all three of us fighting over. * Buffalo Barrels (aka Tater Tots) were worth the $5 upgrade. But, I'm somewhat of a Tater Tot junkie, so take that advice for what it's worth. * Fries were fantastic, as well. * Short Rib Melt was delicious, but very, very rich. It could've used a little relief like some pickles either on it or on the side. The Meh: * They do have their own parking lot, but it is smallish and can fill up fast. There is some street parking available, as well. The Ugly: * They had a lot of beers that were out of commission, including several that I was pretty excited to try. =/ Conclusion: Great spot to get your suds and spuds!
