Visited the Lazy Turtle on a Friday night for dinner. From the road you wouldn't know how spacious it is inside. They have three dining spaces, an indoor dining room with white table cloths, dining tables in the bar area and also on an outdoor deck. All dining areas have a view of the river. Our server was very attentive and friendly. My husband & I shared a bowl of lobster bisque ($14) served in a bread bowl. The bisque was good with large chunks of lobster but you definitely get more bread than bisque. I ordered fish and chips ($24) and my husband the 5 piece jumbo fried shrimp platter ($28). My husband enjoyed his shrimp but my cod was not good and tasted freezer burned or like it was refrozen. The texture was not good so I ended up not eating more than half. Below average food for a premium price. The service was slow and the servers seemed like they didn't care about your service at all. Went in to Celebrate a birthday , we sat outside as there was a good amount of shade, the breeze was great outside and we were served by Lala at the bar. O no. Cockroach walking along the base of the wall next to our table. The floor was admittedly sticky, but we just assumed it was from a recent rainstorm. Guess not. Sanitation is sorely lacking at this place. If the dining room is dirty, imagine what the kitchen and food prep areas must look like. Yuck. Although living in tropical Florida means living around pests and finding cockroaches outside, not in my house and not in any restaurant we go to for a meal. Nope. The menu had a great selection which was hard to make a choice but I ended up ordering the mahi reuben that was best I've had on town. The dressing and sauerkraut was not overwhelming and the fish was nice and tender. The pina colada was way to good to have stick around for the entree to arrive. Sat on the patio for lunch with the family, I selected the Chicken tortellini off the lunch special which was low priced for the amount of food I received. The chicken was seasoned very lightly and cooked throughout. The cheese sauce was nice and thick and had a wonderful flavor. The tortellini was perfectly done, tasted fresh and home made. Didn't have a wait to be seated, the staff was very responsive as it was a hot day and I had to get quite a few refills of the sweet tea. Came in with a party of 5, no reservation and were immediately seated. Didn't take long for our server, Justin to greet us and take our drink orders. Great personality and knowledgable. Answered all our questions and gave great recommendations. We ordered a variety of apps, soup and entrees. Conk fritters and lamb lollipops were on point and the lobster bisque is an absolute must. It is served with a large bread bowl full of lobster chunks. The filet was perfectly cooked. The paellas flavors were well blended and the rice was well cooked and not dry at all although the lobster could have been seasoned. It was very plain. Fried fish and shrimp baskets were cooked well but could also use more seasoning. We ended the meal with a shared lava cake. Very tasty. This place is on the pricier side. $60 a head easy. The only real complaint I have is the 4% credit card fee they charge you on top of the high prices. With the amount they are charging they should be able to cover the credit card fees. read more

The lack of service at this place was appalling. Had planned on grabbing a couple of drinks and some food, but that quickly changed when it took almost 20 minutes to get a drink. The waitress would disappear forever even though the place was half empty (10 minutes to get a glass of water). The rack of lamb came out perfectly cooked at the exact level we ordered. The grouper was delicious, plump, juicy and battered with a good coating. The sweet potato fries had a spicy syrup of some kind that I wasn't a fan of. But the lobster roll? Just give me a bowl of that and I'll be happy. Sooo..... The atmosphere doesn't match the menu but-lazy turtle had the best tomahawk steak I've ever eaten (and I've tried a few). All of the appetizers were spot on! I'm not even sure if I can pinpoint a favorite. Though the cauliflower is in the tops. The baklava-it's an unconventional twist on a traditional flavor but I will drive to the lazy turtle just for this dessert! Our server Cara was excellent and timed our courses perfectly with delivery-from order time to table it only took 15 minutes for apps, and 45 total minutes from order to steak-which is impressive considering the heft of the tomahawk-and mine was ordered medium! The Lazy Turtle is an up and coming waterfront palm Bay restaurant that has awesome patio and window views of the Indian river in Palm Bay. The drinks are AMAZING! Order a specialty bucket from the drink menu and enjoy one of the many items from their eclectic food menu. You can get anything from sushi to a hamburger here and everything is pretty good. They had a little delay with the service, but I think they are still going through their growing phase. I've been there 3 times now and each time the service has gotten better. Amber, our server, gave us great recommendations on what to eat. Based on our questions, Amber recommended the "clam chowder" and a "Wedge salad" along with the "bacon wrapped scallops."
