First, let me correct my advice about whether a reservation is required here that I offered to someone who made an inquiry on this site. It is not "required" for evening dining during the week, but I would recommend it for weekends. Second, I know this because two days ago a friend and I had a reservation for 6:30, but when we walked in, we were told that it was "open seating." The place was clearly not busy on a Tuesday evening. My friend and I are both lawyers; I am completely retired, he, sem-retired. We have been dining together for several years about every six weeks at a different Brevard restaurant. During my ten years in Brevard, I have eaten at at least 15 different restaurants (obviously more frequently at some, such as Amici's, which is conveniently across Wickham Road from my condo complex). I don't have any food limitations, and he, only to shellfish. This was our first visit. We walked in to loud island music and did not see a host podium. We had to wait until a worker happened to pass near us, and she allowed that we could choose any table, which we did indoors. There are two sections to the inside dining, each with about 20 tables. The deck is small. This is not an impressive introduction, totally devoid of any hint of class. It is what one would expect at a bar, not a restaurant. The loud island music continued for the two hours that we spent together. As I walked to my car at 8:30, the music was blaring to the outside. (For the record, I am not anti-loud music, but it must have its place, and as now constituted, Lazy Turtle is not that place.) As an overview opinion, Lazy Turtle needs to decide what it wants to be, a hubbub after-hours bar serving bar food or a restaurant with a demurred bar on the side. The tables were set correctly with white tablecloth, glassware, side plates, and silverware neat wrapped in a black napkin. A server appeared and delivered our ordered beverages. I ordered the lobster bisque, and he a Caesar salad. This is the first lobster bisque in my life (I'm in my 80th year and trust me, I have dined in every major city in the US, from Boston to San Diego and Seattle to Miami) that I have eaten that contained chunks of lobster. The bread bowl did nothing for me other than contain the bisque. I found it a novelty. My friend like his salad, but it was small for $14. My friend ordered the special, a snapper dish that he found delicious. I ordered the surf and turf. It came with about four ounces of shelled lobster meat and a 6-oz filet (before cooking). The filet was thin, not thick, and even though I ordered it medium, it came well done. It is not easy to achieve a degree of doneness with thin beef filet. But no matter, it was prime beef, tasty, and easy to cut with the table knife. The mashed potatoes are so-called "hand mashed" with skin on, but there was enough for three servings. The kitchen is wasting the owner's money! The vegetable medley was done perfectly. My friend ordered a multi-layered chocolate cake for dessert while I chose the pie ala mode, which was baked with large apple slices, lightlysprinked with cinnamon and without a top crust, accompanied by small dips of vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. Now the hard part. The entree cost $58. I realize that lobster is expensive. I recently shopped at Clayton's Seafood on US ! in Rockledge and noted that it was charging $49 a pound. Still, with a small filet and four ounces of lobster meat, I would have expected a $48 price tag. The pie cost was $8, very reasonable. The cake number was $12. He thought that was a bit rich - the price, that is! - but it was a large slice. What has come to be the ubiquitous 4% fee here was added to the bottom line. What a tacky, tacky policy! My total with the fee came to $87.91. Neither of us drank liquor. In fact, I stayed with water. When I added the tip, the evening dinner cost me $105.91. Neither of us is likely to return. The food was good, without complaint. But the atmosphere - the lack of professional attention, the open seating, the 4% fee, and the loud island music - does not exactly form ambiance, a key ingredient to me for an overall dining experience. read more

The Lazy Turtle was visited on a Friday afternoon. Enjoying the warm sunny weather we decided to sit on the side patio. The view of the river was quite nice from the whole patio area, They have tables out there and we took one at the far edge as it accommodated our party of six. Soon after our arrival we got blasted by excessively loud country music which we never managed to get turned down. The patio was fairly busy and being managed by just one server, so service was a bit slow. They could have used more staff outside. On to the food. The lazy Turtle has a chef, and he puts some great work into the preparation and presentation of the food. The menu has a bit of everything on it, seafood to steaks to sushi to sandwiches to tacos to Italian. Also there were some specials of the day which appear to be very good values. Prices were all over the place on the regular menu, with some seeming ok to some being crazy high. I had Chicken Piccata as a special and it was very good. My friend got the shrimp basket. It looked great but 29 dollars seemed rich to me. The food is the star of the show here. Some other areas could use improvement. read more

Dined here for lunch recently with several others. The place was not too busy. We sat inside because it was a bit cool and windy. We were greeted by our waitress who took our drink orders. We ordered several shared appetizers. The crispy shrimp was excellent, the buffalo cliflower was very good and the calamari was good. I ordered a bloody Mary which was ok, nothing special. I had the steak and cheese sandwich and it was very good. I ordered fries with that and they were good, crispy and seasoned. Service was just fine as our waitress checked on us often. Food was ready in a decent amount of time. I thought the food overall was pretty decent. The view was fantastic. I had no issues with the food or the service. Just in case you didn't read the sign on the table--- The restaurant charges a 4% convenience fee if you use credit cards. Parking can be tight for large vehicles but manageable. Never again! Overpriced, bad food. Came here on a Friday evening where my first impression was the place was a little run down but needed a patio table and one was available. In fact, nearly every table was available. That should have had us running away considering the place was nearly dead for a Friday night. Staff was okay but the food was disgusting! The Calamari was over cooked and stringy tasting, apple pie looked like it was soaked in water before serving it. Pasta was nasty tasting. Tacos were alright but I was starving. Three adult meals, 1 appetizer, 2 desserts and 2 drinks and the bill was over $170. They also charge 4% if using a credit card. Thankfully I had the cash. We barely touched our food. It was obvious we weren't enjoying it. Nobody asked us if everything was okay, never offered us anything else. Just here's the way over priced bill for seriously terrible food. Gross! We will never go back here! Theres so many other restaurants that have water views that actually serve good food. Go to the Chart House, The Shack, or Frigates. This is a newly opened place and we couldn't wait to try it. My first impression as I walked in the front door, I was in awe! The dining area is absolutely beautiful and has a very nice little bar area also. The aroma of fresh cooked food was very inviting, and was cheerfully greeted ~ so there's that. We then ventured out to the patio and tiki bar, once again, it was beautifully done. Now I'm thinking, wow this place is amazing~ hopefully the food matches the rest of it and it certainly did! So, I ordered the lazy turtle steak and cheese and my wife ordered a lobster roll. The food was delicious and the service was great! I think I found a new favorite and if you're in the area and looking for something new and different, this place is worth a try! read more

Horrible. This had to be one of the worse dinning experiences I've had had. We arrived on a typical busy Friday night with a large party. We were sat promptly in a fairly empty, outdated dinning room, secluded from any water views or from the live entertainment from the opposite side of the facility. We were properly greeted by two very friendly servers. Who immediately took our drink orders. This then began the beginning of our subpar experience. It took forever for the drinks to come out. Our two friendly servers were M.I.A during our wait for the drinks and delayed us from ordering our appetizers. The ordering of the appetizers was another stage in the slow service experience, delaying the ordering of the main course. The appetizers were good, but shouldn't have taken almost an hour to be served. We ordered three dozen oysters and only 2 came out. The manger said that one tray had 24 on them, but she obviously couldn't count to see that there were 12. They finally brought the third dozen, served over a bed of melted ice, leaving us to believe that they were sitting out too long. When showing this to the server his response was " ice melts". After asking about the status about our entrees numerous times, it finally came out, almost 2 hours after this journey began, although missing one of our meals. After hunting down one of our friendly servers who had been M.I.A once again, he went to check and told us it was coming out. It never did. The final end to this saga, the bill. After another eternal wait, the checks finally came out and had to be adjusted, like we expected, but at least the server had remembered to take the one missing entree off the bill that he said was on it's way out, but never did. We finally complained to the manager, who listened to us with open ears, but at the end told us that she wasn't the manager and had only been there for 4 days. After locating the real manager, who was also playing the M.I.A game with our two friendly servers. She was very apologetic about our experience and wished she was informed of our issues during the service, which I was surprised that our constant complaints didn't trickle up the chain of commands to her until we asked to speak with her. After our 2.5 hour restaurant experience came to an end, I do have to say that the food was good, but not worth the time or the 4% credit card surcharge tacked on the bill. Bad service makes the best of meals taste lousy. read more

A slice of key lime pie, $14...a burger $20. Kids fish and fries $14. Dinner entrees started in the $30 range. The inside restaurant had an "odd" smell. This type restaurant should have had prices at least 15% less. The drink prices, however, were comparable to any other restaurants and I did have a very tasty rum drink in a bucket:). Food and service was incredible! Five of us went for lunch. To start we all had the lobster bisque in a huge bread bowl, we all could recommend it highly. We were so stuffed we all had to take home most of what we ordered after the bisque! Just seeing the inside from what it used to be is incredible, the decor it's really cool, very tropical and tiki like. We loved the food so much that we came back the next day for dinner, each of us ordered something different then we had for lunch the day before. Again incredible food and service! I'd recommend The Lazy Turtle highly! For dinner they have complimentary valet parking. I can guarantee this restaurant will stay here for many many years! read more

On a beautiful afternoon this week we chose Lazy Turtle because of it's location. We arrived and inside bartender encouraged us to enjoy the outside patio & sit wherever we wanted & he would send out someone to serve us. Since it was the middle of the afternoon there were not allot of diners, approximately tables. We waited about 15 minutes & no one came to wait in us. A waitress soon appeared & went to the table behind us to see if they needed anything further. She then walked past us & went to a table 2 tables away & gave them their check & to go box. She then left the area. Since there was a person behind the outside bar, my husband went there & ordered our drinks. One of the waitresses & her discussed our drink order & said they would bring to us. 15 minutes later they brought my drink & said they just changed the tap for my husband's beer. 10 minutes later his beer arrived & a waitress bought us menus. While we were waiting, before we ordered another couple came in & sat at the bar & waited for service. After about 15 minutes they got up & left. Our ordered arrived about 20 minutes later. I had a blackened grouper sandwich because a prior review on Yelp but I was very disappointed as it was a very small portion & not very well cooked. Actually the tomato slice was thicker than the grouper. There were plenty of servers & other help around so it's not like they were short staffed. Later after our food was served a young man at the bar did come to get us additional drinks, after he was summoned. The good news is that it was a beautiful day, however if we had been served our drinks & presented a menu, to view, we might not have been compelled to report such a negative review. We will not return & will also warn others of our bad dining experience. read more
