This shop paid me $20 cash for my professional trumpet mouthpiece which I agreed, so no problem, they are private service so they can do anyway they want. On the day I made agreement on mouthpiece, price tag of Yamaha guitar was $75, told him I was interested in trading or potentially buying. One the day I got $20 cash for my professional trumpet mouthpiece, Yamaha guitar price was re-handwriting crossed out of $75 and not so professional handwritten price was $150. It was very next day. I did not want to pay $150 for Yamaha acoustic guitar so I tried different guitar was displayed on the floor. I saw tag $50 on Acoustic Fender Guitar made in Korea. Price was originally $75 but tag was indicating new price was $50, so good deal, in this case price tag was not handwritten, it was printed out with their price tag maker which is supposed to indicate their professionalism. I took guitar to the clerk, a man says price sometimes is not so correct because he post online or whatever he explains to me blah blah blah. That tells us all price tag in this shop maybe not showing what you are going to pay. It's up to the clerk each moment. Sadly he told me guitar is not $50 anymore. I stated to leave by saying I am paying $50 for Korean made Fender acoustic guitar. I did not waist my time and money at this shop. A man raised his voice on my back and pronounced clearly ; " Seventy Five Dollar ! " I sent email them my original post of which was flagged and I got email from Yelp Support with clear guidances and regulations about removal my original post and photos of LBC Boutique. Shop basically replied me saying I can never be back to this business and mentioned if I don't take my review down, they would press charges against me. I can't speak more highly about the character of the people that work at this shop. I had a piece of jewelry that was stolen. I dropped off a picture of it and asked if they could let me know if someone tried to sell. An hour later an individual came in and tried to sell it them. They kept the necklace, called the police on him and later returned my necklace back to me. I have nothing but respect and admiration for how LBC operate their business and would 100% use them if I ever had to pawn or sell an item. So just research what the items u either want to buy or sell on eBay. And u'll be on same page with this shop. I am on the fence about this place, so here goes: The good: Cool stuff, nice enough staff, they buy gold and silver on the spot. The bad: Contradictions. Their website says they buy cell phones, and they do not. They also want used video games and accessories, also not the case. After calling them--they have two different phone numbers, very confusing (I think who we spoke to on the phone and who helped us were two different people) yesterday morning to set up an appointment, we were told to bring our stuff in. So we lugged in our Guitar Hero guitars, drums, etc (barely used) only to be told they don't sell them. If you have video games to sell, forget about it. A handout in their store says they pay 30% over Gamestop trade in values. Not so, they do not. He offered $17 to my husband for his week old copy of Dead Space 2. Their website says they buy Coach bags, but they were not interested in my 4 Coach bags in excellent condition--even after I was told over the phone to bring them in. They also haggle. "How much is that gold worth to you?". Um, how about what the price of gold is at this moment?". They just melting it down after, it is not like they are re-selling my pieces. I know this is the nature of the business, that they need to make money too, but their website should be more specific about the items they are interested in. I guess I didn't know what I was missing. Le Chic is a tiny consignment/pawn shop with some serious steals! I got a completely unworn pair of black leather/suede shoes for just $15. They would've been over $20 at Payless. Need some new DVD's? Their entire stock are advertised as in mint condition, and they have quite a nice selection. And, at just $4 per DVD, you can't go wrong. Want an old school Nintendo? Or just NES games? How about a cell phone? An anitique watch? An electric bass guitar for $25? Or perhaps you need some money... they buy your junk too! The basic lowdown on selling gold here: 1. Put 45 minutes on the parking meter 2. Walked in with a small bag of various tidbits of gold (broken pieces, couple old rings, etc.) 3. Within 10 minutes walked out with a surprisingly large sum of cash for gold stuff that had sat in my wife's closet for years 4. Returned to parking meter and grumbled that I had used two more quarters than I needed to! The owner and staff that was working, Danny, was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. Speaking of which, I didn't have that feeling of getting "worked over" that you can sometimes feel when interacting with businesses/trades that you aren't well-versed in. You should check out the website - there are some "catch phrases" that can yield you 80% vs. 70% for any gold you sell.You have to mention them to Danny and be explicit. Trust me, it makes a difference. I didn't look at too much else while I was there but the boutique had plenty of video games (Nintendo to current systems) some music equipment, plenty of jewelry, designer bags, and other boutique stuff. Somewhere between a pawn shop and a thrift store - but worth checking out. read more

You wouldn't think a place like "La Chic Boutique" would have the inventory it does (nor would you realize it looking at the storefront from the outside), but they do keep a decent stock of older video games and consoles on hand at all times. Decent titles too for NES, SNES, GEN and beyond; some that are getting harder to track down now that the word is out on their quality (thanks internet). My first impression of La Chic Boutique was great when my wife and I stumbled across it a few years ago (actually her review is here as well... hi hun). As the years went on, the store's become a bit more difficult to rate highly in terms of how the video games are treated at the store. The Boutique's still got a good selection of quality titles, but part of that reason is that they aren't exactly priced to sell. Don't get me wrong; I still like the place, and still enjoy stopping in every time I'm in Davis - it's worth a visit. I always see the same guy behind the counter and he's pretty nice as well, and knows what he's selling. Unfortunately, that's proving to be more a drawback than a benefit, as many of the more sought-after titles and popular franchises (your Mario, your Castlevania, your Mega Man, etc.) come with some steep price tags. Super Mario World (great as it may be) originally shipped with the SNES console and is prevalent enough to find a loose copy for considerably less than the shop's $20 asking price. Admittedly game prices are on the rise, but the store's a bit ahead of the curve; even being above current ebay sales, shipping included. Will those prices suffice for a 30-something with disposable income itching to relive their childhood? Sure, and here's hoping that they show up. For those of us with mortgages and a game backlog that could hold us till Outrun 2019 becomes an inaccurate portrayal of the future, we need to be a little more selective. Also a pet peeve; some games have their prices written on the cartridges. I'm not one to care about things in pristine condition, but the writing doesn't exactly justify the higher price point either. read more

As I'm not one to usually head out to pawn shops, it was important for me to find one that wasn't a total creep show before heading in. La Chic stuck out like a sore thumb on Yelp, so I figured I'd head that way. Overall, the experience was great. The staff was friendly, they had exactly what I wanted (can you say 4S and iPad 2?) and I found it was easy to trade in my old 4 and original iPad to switch up. If you've got some goods to pawn, or you're looking for a great place to pick up some electronics and games and stuff, look no further. I currently have two pawns with LBC! I recommend them with confidence. Unfortunately I was struggling this past Fall and needed to pawn my Louis Vuitton Neverfull bags. I was able to pawn my purses at a great price and I was also given the chance to extend the pawn as I needed. LBC has very friendly staff and definitely are trustworthy and honest.
