We were eager to try this breakfast hotspot on LBI but came away a little disappointed. First, the staff, from the waitresses to the owner were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the French Toast, Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Oreo Pancakes, and M&M Pancakes. I regret not getting the fresh squeezed orange juice, it looked yummy. The French Toast and Eggs were, by far, the best of the breakfast. The Chocolate chip pancakes had a burned chocolate taste. The Oreo and M&M pancakes were good also. The plain pancakes were just blah, they definitely needed something extra to make them taste good (I.e. Oreo, M&M, banana, etc. etc). Overall I gave it three stars after going over the meal with my wife and kids. We will, however, give it a second chance. read more

Definitely not worth the $40 dollars I just paid for eggs and pancakes for two. Pancakes should be good at a establishment with pancakes in its name. Great family place. Bacon was crispy. I was the only one at the table to finish the full stack of pancakes. Everyone else wished they'd gotten the short stack. Coffee was tasty. This was the best meal we had our whole vacation on LBI! The kids had pancakes and loved them. Our son had the fresh squeezed orange juice and was very impressed - he even survived the pulp! Yummy, delicious, great service and kid friendly!! Wasn't expecting much by the look of the outside, but once you walk inside it's cute, bright, clean and entertaining for the kids. Cute little spot in LBI with a friendly staff. We had breakfast. The bacon was probably the best bacon I've ever had, out of this world. Pancakes were delicious, sausage was awesome. We will definitely be back. They are open for the extended season so you'll have to wait until spring 2019 to visit, but worth the wait, great spot if your visiting for the summer. Visiting family on LBI & they met me here on my way in. They a great breakfast & I had a delicious BLT. Service was fast beyond excellent. The server treated us like guests in her home. When we headed out she said: "bye, it was nice to meet you!" I would go back every day for service like that. read more

Visited the Pancake House for the second time in two years. The first year I was impressed as the service was good and the pancakes were above average. Not so impressed the second time around. First off, it was 10 A.M and the outside temperature was in the low seventies. The inside temperature felt more like the meat section at the supermarket. The waitress disappeared for at least ten minutes when we were looking for a second carafe of coffee. Finally, I had to flag down the owner to do what she should have been doing...looking after her customers. Prices seemed to have jumped more than I expected from one year to the next. For such a pricey breakfast the place should offer the credit card option As for the sides, I ordered the scrapple wanting to try something different. Salty. Not impressed. They advertise Vermont maple syrup, but you have to request it. For the price it should be the standard syrup. What is on the table is gooey and is full of corn starch. The Mapeleine we make at home is much better. Next year we will go back down the island and get the same breakfast for less...and be able to charge it. read more

LBI Pancake House was featured in Restaurant Impossible, a show in which Chef Robert Irvine upgrades a failing restaurant's look and food. For the Pancake House, Chef Robert renovated the Sandy damaged restaurant. He did a great job on the decor, but unfortunately they forgot to tell him the food was probably in worse shape. The restaurant's claim to fame is its machine that freshly squeezes orange juice. On our recent visit for Sunday breakfast, we ordered a pitcher of juice for $16. It was so sour, it was undrinkable. It is clear no one tasted the juice. Sub-par ingredients, whether fresh or otherwise, yields sub-par food. Had someone tasted the juice, they could have adjusted the sweetness, or if they were committed to purely natural juice from the fuit, either source better quality oranges for more money or just don't serve it. The basic pancake, which they turn into their numerous specialties, were dry, thin and lacking the subtly malty and tangy flavor that every decent diner can master. These pancakes were bland and tough. The coffee was less than mediocre. If this place can't put out a glass of orange juice, coffee or pancakes of good quality, why bother opening the doors. The fact that the cook doesn't take the time or have the interest in tasting the food that it served was driven home by the Eggs Benedict one of our diners ordered. The hollandaise sauce was thin and lacked any egg or lemon flavor. The McCormick packet from the supermarket, with a squeeze of lemon, would have been a vast improvement. The canadian bacon, on which the poached egg and sauce sat was cooked and served with the casing still on. You needed to take the dish apart to cut off the cooked casing which was fused to the meat if you wanted to avoid the unpleasant experience of a mouthful of unchewable rind. Clearly the cook never tasted this dish. While the wait staff were all friendly and attentive, the food shows that the kitchen doesn't care. The restaurant takes cash only, so if you came to LBI with limited greenbacks, don't squander your dollars here. For those in the LBI know, Mr. Breakfast will be sorely missed. read more

Short wait to be seated was the best part of the experience. Service was very slow. Doors to the kitchen were wide open, which is fine but our food was at the bottom of the pile of orders stacked up. Servers were touching the food, I believe to check what was on each plate in the pile and our server put the bacon on our plates with her bare hands. This place is always great. The fresh squeezed orange juice is the highlight for my son. Pancakes, waffles, eggs and home fries are all great. Staff is typically efficient, occasionally they can get overwhelmed because it does get crowded in the summer. Love the option of maple syrup. Definitely our go to spot for breakfast. They have a three egg breakfast on the menu..no need to order an extra egg 'on the side". We went here for the first time since our normal place for 20 years Mr. Breakfast closed. Not impressed, my pancakes were over cooked, dry and lacked flavor. The air conditioning unit was dripping on me and I moved to the other side of the table when I told the waitress, she just said oh I wondered why you moved. I would have at least expected I am sorry. We've been coming to the island for over 20 years. Close enough that we come down in the off season frequently.We know the whole story with Sandy and Robert Irvine. And we always want to contribute back to small business as we are small business owners ourselves. But frankly this place is more of a photo op than a good place to eat. The home fries are tasty as well as the waffles. But the name of the place is pancake house and well they suck. They are all flour with no taste. And let's be honest it's breakfast. So, if you feel like spending $5.50 for a room temperature glass of OJ, yes squeezed, after waiting 40 minutes to get seated and then 40 more after ordering. For toast, eggs, pancakes and waffles. This is your place. Oh and they are cash only and smug about it. 5 people bill was $78. Never again. Too many other places. Lastly, don't ask how was everything unless you mean it. We have been going to LBI Pancake house for years, we have always been impressed with the food and the service. We were on the island last week and decided to go to breakfast on Saturday the 23rd. We knew it would be busy and checked in at about 9:15 am and was told that it would be a 20/30 min wait. We waited outside on an extremely hot and humid morning, I was soaked in sweat in about 20 minutes. After a wait of 35/40 minutes I went in to check to see if we would be seated soon. I was starting too lose my appetite from the heat. They said it would be another 5 mins, the gentleman that was in charge looked like he had no clue what he was doing. We were seated around 10:05 and we had no silverware at the table. I ordered coffee that came out quick but had no mug to accompany it. We ordered and food was out fairly quick but the meal was sub-par. It felt as if it was cooked and then just sat in the kitchen for too long. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict and they had placed a slice of tomato on the english muffin which left it mushy. My scrambled eggs were so over cooked and dry and my hash browns were cold and over seasoned. They would always have the orange juice machine running but did not hear it once or was offered any when we sat down. Was very disappointed and think this may be the end of our visits at the LBI pancake house. read more
