Very disappointed with my experience here. I usually use a repair shop in Santa Clarita, but recently moved my horses to the area so decided to try LBL. Brought my horse trailer in (after they lost my appointment twice, so I had to wait an additional 2 weeks from when I was told to bring it in to when they could actually take it) to have the floor boards replaced, as they were looking soft at the edges. While it was there, I asked to have the brakes and bearings serviced, a few running lightbulbs replaced, and also to change the lock on the tack room door. I was not given an estimate for these services, but was told I'd be called with one. I specifically mentioned that the truck I pull the trailer with has electrical issues, and not to touch anything having to do with the wiring, as it works the way it is.
Several days later I was called and told my trailer was ready, and that it would be $1600. I was also told that they had taken it upon themselves to replace one of the wires associated with the hitch, and add that on as well. When I questioned it, and asked for it to be removed, they explained it away and said it would be fine, and ignored my request. They also told me my floor boards (aka why I brought it in in the first place) were fine, and they didn't need to replace them.
When I went to pick up the trailer, I expressed dismay about the total price, because the actual cost of parts, etc was less than half of what I had been charged for labor. I asked again about the floor, and was told the boards were fine, but they had installed extra supports for it just in case (at no time did I ask for this). But the boards (the same ones that were factory installed, and haven't been changed since the trailer was made 15+ years ago) were fine. Mind you, it also came off the factory floor without the extra supports they now claim it needs. Additionally, when I questioned the new electrical component they installed, they refused to let me try the trailer with my truck first (ie wanted payment first), to see if they new component would lock up my trailer brakes as has happened in past. I reminded them several times my truck has electrical issues that we have to work around, which is why any change in wiring can cause a problem.
We hooked the trailer up, and several of the lights still did not initially work. The mechanic began to mess with it, and did quickly find an issue with my receiver, which fixed some of the lights, but not all. Without giving me an option to consent to more labor (or knowing I was paying for him to do anything at all), he proceeded to work on the truck for another 20 minutes, before then telling me I owed him for an additional half hour of labor ($75) and did I want him to continue, because, wait for it... APPARENTLY MY TRUCK HAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE.
$1800 later, we have multiple repairs and additions to my trailer I did not authorize, and was gaslit and tricked at every stage to spend more money, for something I walked in knowing about, and stating I did not need or want to fix. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. It's been a while since I've felt like I was absolutely cheated at a mechanic, but here. we. are. read more
