Communication with Sam prior to his arrival was prompt and courteous, and we genuinely expected a smooth visit based on those initial interactions. Unfortunately, what unfolded was the polar opposite. Sam arrived at our home on time and was guided to the laundry area where we explained the issue. Without further discussion, he dropped his tool bag and immediately demanded the $80 home warranty service fee--before even beginning diagnostics. When we asked how to remit payment electronically, things took an unexpected turn. Sam became visibly agitated. He handed us a piece of paper containing only generic dispatch notes from the warranty company--no payment instructions, no personal contact info, no business credentials. When we reiterated we were ready and willing to pay electronically via Zelle (or any other method he preferred), he crossed his arms, huffed, and flat-out refused to engage. Within moments, he picked up his tools and stormed out of our home without saying another word. It was abrupt, unprofessional, and left us stunned. We immediately contacted our home warranty provider, who assured us they reached out to Sam directly. Despite several attempts, Sam refused to return to complete the service call and would not acknowledge or accept any explanation from their team. In over 35 years of homeownership, I have never been treated this way by a service professional. If Sam was having a difficult day or dealing with a personal matter, a simple call to reschedule would have been understandable. But to show up, behave aggressively, and leave without cause or communication is unacceptable. No apology has been offered, and two days have passed with zero follow-up--so it is safe to say none is coming. We treated Sam with respect and kindness. All we asked for was the same in return.

When I asked for his last name--which is a standard requirement for entry into a guard-gated community--and explained that he would also need to show his CA driver's license to enter the gate, he declined to provide it. He mentioned that he understands how gated communities work and felt that sharing that information was unnecessary. It seemed unusual that he was concerned about sharing his last name when basic information is generally accessible today. The conversation became a bit confusing when he compared providing his last name to being asked for a Social Security number, which didn't seem relevant to the situation. Overall, the interaction felt awkward and left me uncertain about the level of professionalism. For someone in a service-oriented role, clearer communication and a more straightforward approach would have made the experience much better. Based on my experience, I would suggest being cautious if you're considering hiring him. I also noticed in other reviews that some people mention interactions becoming difficult and that other problems occur when he is doing repairs.
