Nice cocktail bar inside Shashi hotel. I stayed here for a business trip and decided to redeem the $20 coupon I got for a cocktail. Cocktails here are $19-22 so you'll likely pay $8-10 out of pocket anyway so the coupon is fairly useless. It's just how they charge a premium for nice hotels. I got the Smarter Than Your Average Pear which was pretty delicious - a bit sweet yet strong. It's pisco based and I haven't had a pisco cocktail that is not a pisco sour, so this was a nice change of things. They also tack on a 20% service charge which I'm never a fan of unless they provide outstanding service, which they didn't. Place is located inside of the hotel. Plenty of street parking and they also have a parking garage. Place looked clean and very minimalist which was a plus. The service was good. Our server was very friendly and attentive. As for the food, it was just okay. Honestly, not worth the price in my opinion. We ordered the Cavatelli Pasta ($37), Sobrasada ($20), Chicken Croquetas ($17), and Pan con Tomate ($12). Everything was decent, but definitely overpriced for what you get. Located inside a hotel, the girls and I decided to catchup in the lounge area which had a cute and intimate ambiance. We sat at the bar high top seats, and opted for a few drinks and shared some bites. Service was quick in the beginning but a bit slower towards the end when we were checking out, but overall not an issue (we just had to call for our waitress a few times). The lounge/bar menu actually comes from their restaurant Broma which is located within the hotel - overall menu is small & bit limited in variety , but had a clear focus, mainly new American with some unique play on classics. Cocktail menu had a great variety of house cocktails along with wine/beer. Let's dig in: (1) Mushroom pot pie - this came out nice and hot, but unfortunately the flavor was too monotone and rich/heavy. I LOVE mushrooms and although there was great mushroom flavor - this def. needed something else to add bite and or make more dynamic. (2) Fried Artichokes - this was OK, lots of sauce and flavor but def. a bit too salty overall. Was only able to have a few bites. (3) Seasonal Salad - this was tasty and refreshing, the cheese and sauce added a nice richness and texture to the salad - along with the pomegranate seeds. (4) Croquettes - a bit disappointing; the inside was way too salty overall and the bed of veggies had a horrible mushy texture and seemed pretty unnecessary. (5) Tinned Octopus w/ bread - also just OK, can't really go wrong with tinned seafood but could have been spruced up a bit more with acid/herbs/etc. Seemed like they really just served what was in the tin and that was it. Also wished the bread was lightly toasted or warmed. (6) Cocktails: I had a Pisco Sour which was tasty with a nice egg white froth to it. My friend had the G&T, which was standard and very boozy although nothing unique. Also ended up trying their Ramos Fizz - although the cloud was just right, the flavors were odd and not to my taste. Overall - food all leaned a bit too salty and for the price there wasn't anything I found super memorable or would come back for. Drinks were fair, but also nothing amazing. My CC bill was charged to Broma, so I'm pretty sure Emerald is the bar area and Broma is the dining room. The bar menu seems to be a smaller version of the restaurant menu. Food and drink at Shoreline was going to be expensive, so this was comparable. The portions are small so good for variety and sharing. I wasn't super hungry, but I was thirsty, so I tried a cocktail. I'm more of a spirit forward girl, so this was a lil light for me. But nicely balanced for a cocktail in general. Second beverage was a glass of bubbles which was a healthy pour. Service was pretty good. I did have to ask for a few things a couple of times, but I'm not too strict and judgey about that. One thing to note, they do charge an automatic 20% gratuity. Stopped by with a friend in a bit of a hurry for a quick drink on a Thursday evening (~6PM) before a concert at Shoreline. There was a sign near the bar entrance that said "Closed for private event", but the folks hosting were very helpful and let us know the section in front of the bar was still open to the public, just not the seating towards the back of the bar. There was room at the bar, with two bartenders deftly handling parties on both sides. Our bartender (didn't catch his name) was very friendly and helpful, providing us with attentive service and some great drink recommendations! We ended up ordering two appetizers and a drink apiece - all delicious! Appetizers: * Pan con tomate (tomato bread) - sadly no longer on the menu, but super delicious! Roasty toasty bread with a generous drizzle of olive oil, and an herbaceous tomato spread on top * Chicken croquettes - Also super tasty! Broma was renamed from Emerald Hour and is a bar/restaurant in the hotel lobby. It's a pretty and classy but small area. The service was absolutely wonderful. We go out to 'nice' restaurants quite a bit, but I was definitely in a bit of a sticker shock when I saw the menu. The bread was $8.50! and I mean it wasn't necessarily mind-blowing compared to free bread. I was annoyed that for not being free it was served lukewarm... at least toast it if I have to pay for it! Normally I get myself a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon- but goodness gracious it was $26 for a glass. I don't even buy myself bottles that expensive (unless I'm tipsy shopping at a winery...) The waiter was friendly about letting me try a couple alternatives and I ended up enjoying my glass of Mencia ($17) Entrees: Green Lentils & Spring Vegetables $28: My husband wasn't ecstatic that this is what I wanted to order, but I proved him wrong since it was deeelicious. The green lentils were a tasty base and the carrots and broccolini were good as well. I thought the polenta cake was a bit dry and too firm though. Last night, we visited the Emerald Hour, a bar within the Shashi Hotel in Mountain View. The interior is beautifully designed, with a lovely piano, comfortable seating arrangements including corner tables and high-top bar seating. The ambiance was chic and sophisticated. We had a wonderful time; the bartenders were exceptional, exhibiting great attitudes, humor, and friendliness. This place has one sexy restroom that deserve a review of its own. But I won't let my obsession with bathrooms distract focusing on what you came here for. First of all the atmosphere is amazing. We got lucky and scored a table by the fire place, which gave this ultra modern spot a bit of romantic flair. Their art lead to quite an entertaining conversation. Came here with a couple friends for happy hour, we were seated outside near the pool. I asked for a cocktail recommendation, with my preference of sweet and fruity. The server suggested the Jimbo Sour, and it didn't disappoint! I wouldn't have selected that just based on the description but it was quite tasty. We also tried the calamari, lamb meatballs, and fingerling potatoes. All the dishes were tasty, my favorite was the lamb meatballs. The place is definitely pricey, due to its proximity to Google I'm sure. It also doesn't offer happy hour pricing so it will be relatively more expensive than other places. The kitchen was open and the kitchen staff were all wearing gloves. All of the staff members were wearing masks. Our waitress was friendly although it was almost a little too much...kind of somewhat interrupted the conversation throughout the evening... Started off with the ensalada de vernao and was a very fresh and light salad with a hint of goat cheese! Moved on to the veal sweetbreads and it was fantastic! Perfectly cooked and the textures and flavors were fantastic! The prime bavette steak was great. Requested medium rare and it came out towards a medium. The marbling on the prime grade beef was great and the seasoning was on point! Portion size was perfect! The side of potatoes were decent. The crema catalana and peach crisp desserts were great. Very fresh and most importantly not too sweet! Ooh, la. la. Opened just yesterday, the Emerald Hour is sparkling brand new and it IS lit! The food and drinks are bomb, along with the excellent service and modern surroundings. It's a perfect addition to Mountain View! The Mt. Tam & Fig Melt is simply amazing!! It's made with a buttered seeded bread (from Midwife, no less) filled with a generous amount of slightly warm and oozing Mt. Tam cheese. This is quality stuff. There's also an olive tapenade on the side, which when mixed in, gives the melt a slightly sweet and salty taste. This is to-die-for, and I don't say this lightly. It's probably one of the best melts in the entire Bay Area. Seriously. Easily a 5/5. I literally wanted to try half the menu! There are so many tempting items, like a whole stripped bass and sweetbreads. Not surprising, since chef Jarad Gallagher from popular Chez TJ, a Michelin-starred restaurant is now at the helm. Cocktails are definitely a thing here! Since it's only Tuesday and going to be a long night for me, I grabbed a Coconut "Rum" and Rhubarb Punch, a beautifully presented and thirst-quenching mocktail. Inside the new AND hotel located by the Googleplex in Mountain View is the Emerald Hour, a poolside cocktail bar and restaurant with a bit of personality. The setting was high-end and elegant but there were surrealist paintings hung on the wall featuring subjects like hiking geese, robots in an autumn forest, and a pig diving into a swimming hole. The service was super friendly, and the menu featured beautifully plated Californian dishes with flavors from all over the globe! We started our meal with the Blistered Country Bread, served with a creamy red Calabrian chile butter that was sweet, spicy, and salty all at the same time. Another great small plate was the Calamari & Poblano Country Sausage, a beautifully plated dish made of calamari stuffed with sausage, sliced into six pieces, and served with charred lemon and scallion aioli. My favorite dish of the meal (though not by far) was the Mt. Tam & Fig Melt sandwich, which was built on two thick slices of a seeded country loaf sandwiching a generous amount of triple cream Mt. Tam cheese, and served with a fig and olive tapenade on the side. The Mt. Tam cheese paired so nicely with the sweet and salty tapenade, and the soft bread balanced out the creamy, decadent cheese with a nice earthiness. And then came our entrees! The off-menu daily special was a pasta dish made of noodles in a light yet creamy beurre blanc sauce, and topped off with scallions, onions, chives, lion's mane mushrooms, and finished off with black truffles. We also had the Alentejo, a stew made with pork cheek, clams, kimchi, sliced potato, spinach, and garnished with plenty of herbs. The dish was served with two slices of toasted bread brushed with a paste made of some of the same vegetables that went into the stew. The soft, tender pork cheek, the clams, and the fermented flavor of the kimchi broth all came together nicely to make a delicious, creative dish--definitely another highlight from the menu! I was looking for a nice bar to meet up with a friend from out of town in MV. I definitely wanted to avoid Downtown MV on a Friday night so I found this place on Yelp. It's located in the Shashi Hotel. Parking was plentiful in the parking garage and it was a very nice space. There was indoor seating and part of the bar consists of an outside counter with chairs adjacent to a fenced off pool, decorated with string lights. Drinks were pretty good and they emphasize craft cocktails. I had 5 drinks while my friend had 2. Overall, I would return to this place because of the ambiance, good drinks, nice staff (Anthony and James were awesome). I'm not sure about the food, but they do serve $100 caviar if anyone is interested. LOL. read more

Amazing chocolate mousse cake dessert for $12. Would definitely come back for this. Good texture mousse with a nice KitKat-like crust, some malt, light cream. Tequila and mezcal old fashion with chocolate mole bitters was good, but a bit pricey for $19. Couldn't really taste the mezcal smokeyness. I think this can be had for cheaper elsewhere. Pumpkin spice gin fizz was $20. I thought it lacked a bit of flavor but my girlfriend really liked it. Note it takes a little while to make (but it was forewarned on the menu). Note that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. I do appreciate that this is called out multiple times on the menu and is explained that you are free to speak to the server to adjust it. However, I don't necessarily agree with a blanket 20% gratuity being applied to all bills by default. The service was at the level I would expect from any restaurant and was not bad, but I would not call it exceptional. A cool place to grab drinks with friends, nice ambience, not too loud. Good food, good drinks. I came here with a friend to celebrate my birthday. It is near Google, so I'm assuming it can get busy. When I arrived around 5:15pm, there were lots of empty tables and I found street parking right in front. Very cozy seating. It looks like they also have patio seating, but we sat inside. We ordered drinks and loaded up on appetizers so that we could try more items. The croquetas were delicious. Highly recommend the orange creamsicle fizz if you like gin fizz/egg white type drinks. Service was good and our waiter checked on us throughout our meal. It can be an intimate setting or casual setting. I am looking forward to coming back. read more

The cod was superb. The truffle combined wonderfully with the fish. The squash rounded out the intensity and was visually stunning. The octopus was solid. The romesco sauce had depth and was the perfect support for the octopus. The wagyu cheeseburger lived up to the wagyu hype. Succulent, juicy, and rich in beef flavor. I chose The Emerald Hour for its poolside ambiance and extensive mocktail menu. It was a Saturday evening, and our party of 6 was seated right away at a hightop table near the bar. It took me a minute to figure out where the mocktails were, until I realized many of the cocktails could be made zero proof - love that! I chose the Not Another Tiki Cocktail and my friends got the Paloma. Both were delicious, but the Not Another Tiki Cocktail was just fantastic - fruity and refreshing, not too sweet. We also ordered a bunch of starters to share - the Galician Octopus (so tasty, great texture), Steak Tartare (my favorite, so unique and flavorful), Papas Arrugadas (pretty good, filling), Croquetas de Pollo (didn't try this one), and Shrimp Picante (probably the least impressive of the bunch but still tasty). Our server Jorge was helpful and attentive, and service was quick until our last round of drinks. We ordered the Coffee Martini (mocktail) to end the evening, which took a strangely long time to come out. However, it was delicious. My main issue with The Emerald Hour was that they charged full cocktail price for our zero proof drinks. I've never paid $18 for a drink with no alcohol, so the bill really caught us by surprise. I'm a Mtn. View local and a regular guest at T.E.H. I look forward to The Emerald Hour environment right after work on a Friday. It was 4pm and I loved having the bar to myself to read and relax. Anton (the mixologist) made me feel right at home. The Hendricks G&T with a lime wedge is simple and delicious. It's not on the menu but Anton agreed, just a few good ingredients is all that's needed for a delicious late afternoon libation. I highly recommend ordering 3-4 small plates and have them served all together. The scallops were scrumptious. It was a unique combo of 3 raw and 3 seared with light veggies and savory drizzle. About tipping: If you are annoyed by the 20% automatic tip applied to your bill, you have the option to decline that. Simply apply your own gratuity. Don't make a drama out of it. Just be fair. Truly spectacular restaurant and cocktail lounge in Mountain View. I would recommend ordering a lot of small plates and trying some of their cocktails. Be sure to save room for dessert too. Food: The Spanish Charcuterie plate was amazing. The jamon iberico was the highlight of the entire meal. The beef tartare was my second favorite. Unique middle eastern based spices make this dish very memorable. The croquetas were delicious. Very spicy hot sauce on top gave it a nice kick and the pickled vegetables on the bottom were a nice balance. The calamari sausages were also great. They came with octopus that tasted amazing. The portion size is a bit smaller than the rest. The salmorejo reminded me of what I had in Andalusia. I haven't seen it in many restaurants around here so this was a real treat. The salad was good but not spectacular. Fresh and light on the dressing which is good. The Hamachi crudo was a miss for me. Too many strong flavors. Cocktails: Jimbo sour was my favorite Dessert: The chocolate mousse paired with the 20 year tawny is a must get. Ambiance: Very nice and modern but not pretentious.
