The outdoor area is really nice with live music until 8pm. After that, the allure dissipates. The "Herb Roasted Chicken" was pretty good. 4/5 The espresso martini was good. 3/5 (good/average). Village Bistro is a gem in East Hampton, especially if you can snag an outdoor table. The inside ambiance can feel a little flat, but the patio is lovely and really elevates the experience. Service was excellent -- attentive, friendly, and happy to answer questions or accommodate modifications. All of our orders came out exactly as requested, and everything we tried was spot-on. We started with the spinach artichoke dip, followed by the salmon, ribs, tuna tartare, and truffle fries. Not a single dish disappointed. The tuna tartare, in particular, was one of the best I've had -- fresh, flavorful, and served in a generous portion. Prices are very fair for the Hamptons, especially given the quality. Even the free bread was delicious, which feels like a rare bonus these days. It's quiet, relaxing, and delivers consistently great food and service. We left full and happy -- and we'll definitely be back. read more

Mac & Cheese was to die for! Great burger! Kids loved their food - loved sitting outside but a great indoors as well. Only issue was that I made a reservation, I checked in, the gentleman acknowledged my rest before seating us, but I got a call that I missed my reservation. Didn't think anything of it since I was there. Told the server as well, yet they still charged me $20 for missing my resy. They refund you, so it worked out. read more

The French Onion Soup was amazing, my husband loved the burger, the mussels were big enough for a full meal, and the vegetarian options for my friend were great. Rowdy start to the night here. The Rangers game was on and there were quite a few fans seated at the bar. Once the game ended it was a much quieter (and nicer) atmosphere. We were seated by the window so it kind of felt like we were dining outdoors. There are several tables outside. I ordered the French onion soup to start. There was a nice sweetness to it and as much as it didn't seem like there was much cheese at first, there was the right amount! I had the sea bass as my entree. It was delicious. I loved the way the fish was cooked. They could even make a vegetarian dish from just the lentils and spinach. Our waitress, Tiffany, was great especially since the food delivery was slow! She checked to see if I had gotten my soup yet. Then she twice had to check in with us about our entrees and finally said she spoke to the manager about it. NEW!!! French Bistro opened in the heart of East Hampton town. Where Rowdy hall stood for many years (they have moved to Amaganestt). The restaurant has been quite busy with ALOT of walk-ins and reservations. It would be best to call in and make a reservation then walking in of course. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is well- balanced and delicious. Also a great kids menu!The bar is filled with the best liquors and the wine menu is made by a sommelier. The patio is gorgeous and perfect for your fur babies . Open 7 days a week with only diners ATM (year around as well) But this weekend for memorial they will be open Saturday & Sunday lunch. Then later on in June opened for breakfast & lunch! The menu prices are not what expected for being located in East Hampton. Great addition, check them out!!! read more

My wife and I went here for happy hour before going to an event at Book Hampton on Friday. The wine we had was good and the crab cake I had was delicious but the service was very slow. It appeared there were three people working but not a dedicated bartender which is key when you have happy hour at the bar. Given that it was the Friday night the HIFF started I was surprised the place was understaffed. Not sure if that was a scheduling issue or a lack of able bodies on the payroll. read more

I eat out at restaurants 2-3 times a week and I haven't left a review (positive or negative) in over 3 years. This experience bucked that trend. Absolutely horrible experience from the get-go before we stepped foot into the restaurant. Our reservation was at 7pm and the hostess called at 7:03pm to make sure we were still coming. Fine. When we sat down, the table had dried ketchup all over it and one of the forks was also dirty. Following this, the waitress very rude and not friendly, as she came, took our order, and left within 45 seconds. We were then sitting outside and it started to become a little windy, and my partner almost got impaled by an umbrella, along with the couple next to us. After the umbrella incident. We walked inside to tell the hostess about the umbrella incident and asked if we could be moved inside. Her immediate reaction was "did you finish your food at least?". Overall, the experience was very poor and they did not check on us after the umbrella incident. They were not friendly and the food was pretty horrific. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs, there are many other good restaurants in the area. read more

When my party and I walked in the place was pretty empty so we asked if we could sit at the bar (after I told the staff we had a reservation) The next day, my credit card was charged $120 for late cancelation. The food here needs a serious upgrade. The roast chicken was not French style and served in a sauce that tasted like soy sauce giving it an unexpected Asian flavor and it was way too salty. My daughter's bolognese was drowned in sauce and almost soup like, the fries were meh, my husband's wedge salad was nothing special and not a wedge (you can get a better version at most diners) and my kid wouldn't even eat his bland, not crispy enough fish and chips. To top it off, service is disjointed. They brought us someone else's check to sign (with the other party's credit card attached!) which sat on our table for 10 minutes before we realized it. Can only imagine what the other party was thinking! Atmosphere is that of a renovated Holiday Inn restaurant. Aiming for sophistication but a miss. The video screen makes it feel like somewhere you'd hold a middling corporate retreat and the ceiling panel colors just look tacky--again suburban Holiday Inn. Some design tweaks and food overhaul are sorely needed. Sorry. :( read more

This is the kind of place that is increasingly missing from East Hampton Village. Great food and drinks, professional service and a very relaxed (as in comfortable) setting. Drinks may be $20, but they're basically doubles - so that's velue pricing on the South Fork!! The guys running the place know what they're doing and they know what they're customers are looking for. I thought about this review an entire week before writing this because I want to be fair and I wanted a little perspective. All the restaurants here are expensive. Let's agree that unbranded bottled water at $12/bottle is being a little piggy. My wife ordered an appetizer crab cake that she didn't like and didn't eat but didn't want to embarrass our guests by making a fuss. My vegetarian plate was ok but my daughter's cavatelli was tasteless. It was a nice evening and we dined outside with friends. We spent way too much money for the quality and quantity of food and drink. We enjoyed our friend's company, but won't be back to this restaurant. read more
