Ok wow, I take my old review back and say this is the BEST bowl of pho I've had since my friend Nokie invited me to her parents' place and they cooked all the things including pho (broth) that had been simmering for 18 hours. I drank all the broth in this bowl. I never do that. But this soup was so beefy and savory, and you could smell the star anise. Add a squeeze of lime and it was heaven. PROTIP: get a side of ox tail!!!! Sad news: no tripe. My only little tiny issue was that the noodles were all clumped up at the bottom and i had to work hard to get it to separate. I wish they'd given it a dunk in boiling water just to loosen it up before putting in the bowl. The brisket was nice, but honestly, just get the tendon and oxtail. I've been bringing my family here for a while, but lately there's been a heavy set guy with glasses that works behind the counter that's super rude. I came in on 2 occasions and he was very rude both times. I don't understand why but he was a a$$hole both times. The first time I came, he rolled his eyes because I asked for a side of chili oil. This time before I even said anything he said I couldn't sit down and eat and I had to order to go. I had already planned to, but it was how he did it that was super disgusting. I LOVE the BBH (bunbohue) here! The flavor of the broth is just excellent. It's not watered down, they pack the extra spices separately, and chunks of meat inside. They also pack the noodles separately and they don't skimp on the veggies and meat. Also, I love their banhmi! I've tried their cold cut and the grilled pork (my fav so far). The bread is fresh and soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outer AKA not old/stale. They plastic wrapped my iced coffee too. It's the little things I notice and appreciate. Love their pork belly banh mi! Their banh mis are a little more on the pricier side, but they don't skimp out on the toppings and are very generous with the meats so it's worth it. I've never had a banh mi with pork belly before and this one was absolutely delicious! It came on a traditional French baguette that was crunchy but chewy; it was perfect. The banh mi was topped with cilantro and pickled daikon radish and carrots. You can opt out of certain toppings if you want. We chose to opt out of jalapenos, just ask for it ahead of time. They also have other Vietnamese desserts and side dishes/appetizers like steamed pork buns (banh bao), summer rolls, and banh beo (steamed rice cake). We got an order of the banh beo - the toppings were pretty standard and fish sauce was included. I liked how they had two options - one with mung bean and one without. I thought it was a good dish to complement with the banh mi, but wouldn't pay $4.50 for 5 banh beos again. I'd definitely come back to get their pork belly banh mi again - it was so good and it actually filled me up. Banh mis from other places are like a little snack to me. Le Bledo is a combo of quick serve and sit down, featuring  bahn mi sandwiches, pho soups, sides and drinks plus a whole area with packaged and fresh goods to go.    Though you order at the counter, the staff brings your food to the table which is nice.  The location is airy with a lot of seating and background music making it a relaxing atmosphere.  We tried the BBQ pork bahn mi and the steak and brisket pho.  To start we had the sesame balls which were nice and fresh.  The bahn mi was also very fresh and tasty and I really enjoyed the added bite of the sliced jalapeno.  The Pho had a really interesting and flavorful taste.  Maybe anise?  Whatever it was exactly, it was good.  There were a ton of noodles and the sprouts, etc. were provided on the side so they were nice and crispy and not wilted.  We have seen lots of raves about the iced coffee.  It was very good but our favorite is still found at Present in Falls Church.  Le Bledo is a very pleasant place to eat as well as being tasty and very reasonable.  Parking is easy in the lot out front. read more

The Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu here is the real deal. So freaking good. I haven't had Bun Rieu in awhile so I was so excited to see it on the menu. I loved the sweet pork broth, the salty shrimp paste, and the huge chunks of tomatoes. This is comfort in a bowl for me. The Bun Bo Hue is probably one of the best versions of this soup that I've had. And I'm comparing this to many Northern VA Vietnamese restaurants that serve this, Mi La Cay in Wheaton, MD (I think their Bun Bo Hue is the bomb), a famous Bun Bu Hue restaurant in San Jose, our friend's mom's Bun Bo Hue which is known to be the best, and my mother in law's version (shhh don't tell her!). I love everything here. We always have their Combo Banh Mi (Sandwich)- French baguette with house spread, topped with pickled raddish and carrots, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeños and meat. Gotta be my favorite vietnamese restaurant in the NoVA area. The food is excellent, and the bakery selection is absolutely massive. Whether you wanna dine-in or grab something and go, you will be satisfied with the quality and portion sizes. My favorite is definitely the Banh Hoi, or Woven Vermicelli Noodles - interesting take on your classic! It comes with bite-sized woven noodles you can eat with your beef, veggies and sauce. I cannot speak for the rest of the menu, so I will just speak for the Banh Mi in this review. These Banh Mi are not just good, these Banh Mi are EXCELLENT, and you do not have to go into Falls Church to get them. Unlike a lot of Banh Mi joints inside the beltway, the size of these things are stuffed with meats and vegetables that do not make you feel as if you are counting the amounts that they put into them. The bread is also terrific, which really is the key to making any Banh Mi sandwich good. I ordered their two most popular Banh Mi sandwiches, the B1 (combination) and B7 (barbecue pork), and both were absolutely terrific. I really enjoyed them both, and got a little teary when I got to the end of both sandwiches because of how delicious and plentiful they were. Unlike some restaurants that are reluctant to put any sauce or paste on them, Le Bledo gives plenty to avoid that dryness trap that Banh Mi can often fall into. I was very impressed with the friendliness and know-how of the staff here. Considering the apparent youth of the staff, they all worked hard, and (not to be demeaning), the staff seemed to be half Asian, half Hispanic, pretty strange for a Vietnamese restaurant, but it worked well here. However, I was not a fan that I was nearly nickel and dimed. When I asked for pate in the Banh Mi, they wanted to charge me a dollar extra just for that. Seriously? No thank you. For the diehard Banh Mi fan, they have a deal where if you buy 4, the fifth is free, so get the whole family or office one if they are all into this kind of a sandwich. Lastly, they take credit cards, but at a $10 minimum so be prepared to carry cash if you if you are only planning on making a one and done purchase. When I attempted to look up what the definition was for bledo, I kept getting a Spanish figurative expression which denoted "something insignificant" Unless they are referring to the amount of money one has to spend for an amazing return in value in terms of quality of food, the namesake is far from being accurate in terms of this local diamond in the rough. Located in a strip mall that is well hidden from the main roads in Springfield, one finds a spacious and modern cafe that violates all the rules of what should be an authentic Asian establishment (as comedian Ali Wong would say, "You can tell, first and foremost, by the name, 'cause it don't got a number in it. Second of all, you can tell by the bathroom. If it was legit, the bathroom would double as a supply closet. When I pee, I need to see ten gallons of bleach, an ATM machine and a grandma with glaucoma napping in the corner. And the wait staff here is too nice. We need to leave this restaurant deaf and emotionally abused.") The decor is clean and modern, the waitstaff is extremely friendly, and the name is completely European, yet one finds home-cooked noodle soups, a bounty of authentic regional prepackaged savory and sweet snacks, and probably the best banh mi in all of Northern Virgina/DC that renders a trip to the Vietnamese American Eden Center completely moot. The banh mi is what got my foot in the door on the first visit with warm fresh baguettes seemingly baked fresh to order with a perfect balance of meat and pickled vegetables, a smidgen of pate so as not to overwhelm the palate, and well spiced jalapenos (ask for them on the side if you prefer your banh mi non-spicy). I then ventured into the noodle soups with a solid rendition of a standard pho bo (steak and brisket) that can be upgraded to oxtail or meatballs for a few bucks more, a refreshing bun mang vit (duck and bamboo), a killer bun rieu (crab and pork), a divine bo kho (beef stew with noodles or baguette) and a fierce bun bo hue (spicy beef and pork). The bun bo hue is probably my favorite since the broth is well seasoned with perfectly cooked tendon and hunks of beef and pork including some indulgent strips of fat and pork roll. I appreciate the inclusion of bun oc (crab and snail meat) and the dry noodle mi quang but I think there are finer renditions worth the extra mileage to Eden Center. If you've ever wanted to sample some authentic appetizers or street fare from different parts of Vietnam, the counter has at least a dozen tantalizing sweet/savory options to add to your meal or to take home for a postmeal snack. Truly a microcosm of classic and regional Vietnamese fare neatly packaged into a thoroughly enjoyable casual chic dining experience that avoids having one le bledo their wallet. read more

I got mixed reviews for this place. My co-worker recommended this place since I live near Springfield. She says its the best Pho she had ever had - pleasant - friendly family owned and that she's been going here for years. So here I go with my review. Ambiance is pleasant, clean and quiet. Price well to me its pricey but they have combination so if you want to just try this place start with the combo. We ordered - a combo - half banh mi and beef stew -- beef steak pho --- summer roll and thai tea - banh mi togo. The combo is surprisingly good. Loved the taste of the beef stew. Meat is tender and soup is tasty. Only thing i didn't like is the soup temperature - it's warm, im expecting it to be hot. I was a little disappointed but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I actually finished my meal, the half baguette and the banh mi is good. But again - somethings missing with the taste, I think it' s the patte' and pickled veggies. The Pho is also "warm" and the soup, the taste --- if you know how the authentic pho tastes like, compared to theirs, is ... decent. Summer roll is okay. The Thai Tea is amazing, it's really good. The no.1 banh mi is sad. The meat its kinda sour. Is it supposed to be sour? I ended up throwing away 2 banh mi - didn't even got to finish 1. I gave it 3 stars because of the beef stew - the baguette - amazing thai tea and how clean the place is. Update: I've been here at least 10 times now. I'm hooked. They have amazing grilled pork Banh mi and probably the BEST pho broth I've had in the area. Seriously, the pho broth was amazing. Bumped up to 5 stars! _______ I'm glad there is a Vietnamese bakery in the Springfield area! Was in the area after running wreandsand found this place and stopped in. It didn't disappoint! On my first visit, I opted for banh xeo, summer rolls, and crispy spring rolls. The banh xeo here is served with pork, shrimp, and squid-- I've previously only had it with shrimp and pork, but the more the merrier, so no complaints on that end. I made the mistake of taking this to go, which wasn't a good idea simply because the banh xeo was super soggy when I got home. It was packaged to go in a styrofoam box with aluminum foil. #facepalm. Anything fried or crispy should NEVER be packaged to go with aluminum foil because it'll undoubtedly become soggy; I managed to partially salvage it when I got home by heating over high heat in a little bit of oil. The summer rolls were good and well-stuffed, but the peanut sauce they serve here is very watery. When I got home, I added more hoisin to thicken it. The spring rolls were delicious. Not a single complaint. On my second visit, I opted for the Bun Rieu because I had seen it Instagram so much and it looked so savory and delicious. The bowl of soup I was served was HUGE and packed with plenty of crab meat and bone-in pork. I didn't even finish it all.
