I was really looking forward to trying this place but I'm sad that it wasn't all that I expected. The aesthetics are there and the employees are very nice, but the food and price points weren't for me. I got a simple bacon and egg biscuit sandwich from the pastry display, and the small 3"x3" thing cost me $8! They heated it up for me and told me it would take only 3 minutes so I thought it'd be a quick breakfast, but I ended up waiting 15 minutes for it to be done! Each espresso drink is also about $7 so I didn't end up getting one. I also saw another customer who had been waiting for his food for a while and came in multiple times to talk to the employees, maybe there was a mix up? Stopped by here in Malibu and got the ice cream and Lavendar latte here. I really liked the latte since it was sweet but not overly sweet and had a really good flavor. The Rose Rasberry Lychee ice cream was great - it didn't taste super "vegan" in the sense that it was just as good as the non-vegan flavors and super unique. The Lychee definitely dominates the flavor palette. This place is always super busy and I can see why! It's a very aesthetic interior as well. read more

Hour wait for one toast. At 1:15 on a weekday. With no warning at time of order that they were backed up. That's just not ok. Total lack of respect and disregard for people's time. Wow I was so hungry and I had the good fortune of finding this French cafe that serves Ice cream & breakfast all day! I ordered the Turkey bacon avo club,! The vibe is amazing! They serve unique flavors of ice cream like black Vanilla that this one girl in line ordered her and her father raved about the flavor& quality. Great food but very slow service. Additionally the prices on their menus were inconsistent from what was posted at the door, and what I paid at the register. All of the menu items are provided in recyclable containers, with compostable utensils. I was upset to find out that there is no compost disposal bin. It's great those items are provided but they end up in a land fill anyways without a compost option! I felt like an idiot having to toss my compostable items into a trash like any other single use plastic. This should be an easy fix for the business that I would like to see utilized. read more

Oh Cafe De La Plage, how I missed you. Ever since I found my way through your doors 3 weeks ago I made it a habit to frequent this café eatery on a hebdomadal basis; that is, every Friday when me and my associate have a morning business meeting in Malibu. And whilst I will admit, I am a nighttime eater, the sandwiches at "The Plage" are too good to resist. I ordered the turkey sandwich, which came with Brie, dried peppers, and arugula, meticulously placed on one of the crunchiest baguettes I've had in awhile. The lovely associate at the counter offered to heat it up, and I obliged with willingness and excitement. The result, a warm sandwich with melted Brie that popped in flavor, counteracting the stringy , smoked turkey flavor of the turkey. The mixture of the bread, Brie, and turkey made for the most delectable sandwich experience I have ever had. For dessert I got a doughy ball filled with jelly, and one with chocolate. It is the best thing I've ever had, and I am not a dessert person. To wash it down I ordered a cold brew, with a whipped cream-like substance floating on top. The lovely associate with the ocean-blue eyes that pierced my soul informed me that it had been brewed for 17 hours. This is decently long, but I prefer 24 hour cold brews, so I was curious how it would taste. And while I will admit the cream substance diluted the original cold brew taste, it was in a complimentary manner. It was like I was drinking a cold brew milkshake. Thank you so much for this experience, Cafe De La Plage, and all the beautiful woman that made this experience that much better. Listen I am not one of those people who like to complain about my food taking forever to come out. I get why this happens I myself have delt with rushes where so much food gets ordered. But today, I will be one of those people. I will say the employees seemed really nice and that they were quite stressed out with this rush. With that being said, it took almost 1 hour for my avocado toast to be made. One hour. That is completely unacceptable. I've made avocado toast myself multiple times it does not take that long. I ordered avocado toast at the airport once and that took maybe 10 minutes if that. Waiting almost an hour for a piece of bread with avocado on it is a joke. And I get it, the kitchen is small but the food menu is bigger than the coffee menu. You cannot use the excuse that this is a coffee place exclusively. When it did finally come out the bread was burned. The avocado was avocado nothing special. Next time I recommend that the people on cash register give a heads up to everyone who orders something from the kitchen that it will take over 30 minutes. Not worth it at all. My parents also ordered the sandwiches that are up front that they throw into the warmer and I was told that the bread was hard too. The crookie was good I did like that. Besides the Frankenstein cookie, I would not recommend this place in the slightest. read more

I absolutely love this place! The coffee is top notch, the staff is friendly, and the pastries are incredible. They even have hot food too that's well worth the stop! My favorites are the matcha latte, the Paidina sandwiches (the bread is perfect), the croissants and the carrot cake if they have it. Highly recommend if you're in Malibu or driving up PCH! This coffee shop is a must stop if you are a fan of unique coffee drinks. Le Cafe has everything from rose and cardamom lattes to lavender matcha lattes. My friend and I tried both of these caffeinated drinks and really enjoyed them! She is particular about her matcha and even she was a fan! The cafe also sells baguette sandwiches, salads and grain bowls, pastries, and ice cream. The mini croissants are beyond cute! The decor is very cute, very LA. A flower wall lines the back wall and fresh flowers a few scatted throughout. While there was limited space inside and no seating, there are plenty of tables in the adjoining courtyard. The only downside to this cafe is that the prices are steep. My small rose and cardamom with oat milk was $7. I wouldn't come here often due to the price, but would recommend for someone interested in a fun spot for lunch or coffee with a friend on a sunny day! read more

We stopped here after going to the beach early in the morning and needed some coffee and breakfast. We were not familiar with the area so we looked on Yelp and this place popped up, there are a few other breakfast type places in the area but this one looked a little bit healthier... lol until I hit saw all the baked goods and went a little nuts! The breakfast sandwich was good, but it was deconstructed which threw me off a bit since it looked dry, but as I put it together and the egg yolk oozed everywhere, I loved it. The bacon was delicious! We also ordered coffees which to be honest all taste the same to me usually and these tasted good. I did go a little nuts with the baked goods, and ordered a strawberry tart thing which was simply amazing! The taste and texture were perfect!! The brioche cinnamon bun was dry and not noteworthy. The berry beignets were good. The spinach pastry my wife liked. As we were leaving I was going to get some other items I wanted to bring home, but the line was getting little long and it was crowded with people not really social distancing in the line out the door. So I was a little disappointed but it so happens we decided to go back to the same park the next day and I had to come back to this place to try the things I missed out on and to pick up more of what I loved! On the second trip I picked up more of the strawberry tarts which I loved the day before but this time they were not as good. The texture was harder and drier, like day old pastries... still good but nearly meeting the same texture quality as the day before. I was also able to pick up a iced latte which was ok but I should have asked for some sugar in it since it was a little bland. I was also able to pick up these baguettes that looked delicious. I ate one cold on the drive home and was disappointed and almost pulled out a tooth trying to eat the bread and was disappointed... HOWEVER, later on that day I toasted the other sandwich in the oven and it was freaking amazing!! I wonder why they didn't ask me if I wanted it toasted there- if they offer toasting, asking for it, and get one of these! The food here was pretty good, and recommend it, however what stood out more for me was the people working here. The cashier was very pleasant and her happiness felt genuine, which made the place feel that much more welcoming. Also another person took the time to talk to us and although she was really working hard, she took the time to make the visit a little more personal. This was also evident as I sat back waiting for my order and watching the customers interactions with the staff and many seemed to be familiar with them and many knew each others names, which is always a sign of a great restaurant to me! Considering how high they have things priced you would think they would put some more effort into customer service the blonde with tattoos that was helping me was very rude and seemed to be in a rush, I had never been there so naturally I had some questions but all she could do was recite the menu. The scone I ended up with was stale, the puff pastry I wanted only came in quantities of 3? First time here in the first day of the new year 2022! Great start of the new year with the most delicious organic avocado toasts I ever have! Thoroughly toasted, it holds up well to the spread and keeps its structural integrity. It is creamy, crisp and so satisfying and the lemon flavor come on perfectly to my taste! Love the Rose Latte with almond milk as well which is creamy with subtle rose flavor! The ice cream menu looks so attractive and I was tempted to try it and glad I did and my dear friends were willing to join me even though we were full! Vegan Rose Raspberry Lychee, Vegan Pineapple Basil & Sicilian pistachio are the flavors we tried ! The vegan sherbet are refreshing and full of flavors ! The pistachio ice cream is a bit too sweet comparing to the sherbets; shouldn't mixed it with the others! Love the vibes in this lovely cafe! Grateful with the experience and really appreciated the friendly service from the ladies behind the counter and the lady who served us! I would say as far as my experience here would go. They are okay me and my wife picked up two lattes shared a sandwich and had some baked goods. One thing I will say is their wait time can definitely be very long, so definitely anticipate that. Especially for a hot sandwich like longer than you think. I think we waited 15 to 20 minutes for the sandwich. My wife did love her sandwich. I thought it was okay and the coffee was decent. I got a oat rose cold brew and I believe my wife got a caramel latte which she liked I can definitely say the baked goods tasted better. I did enjoy my lemon loaf very much I would come back to give them another shot although I will say they can get very busy especially on the weekends so definitely factor that interior time read more

It is tastefully decorated in a modern look with natural lighting. I peruse the menu and although I came in for gelato, I quickly change my order to the Yin & Yang Latté. The use of charcoal intrigued me and simply sounded cool... the employees at my visit were "interesting" to say it nicely. The two high-school-aged girls were super sweet, but the older gentleman making the drinks was very gruff to them to the point of giving them orders. Kinda like Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men." I just found it odd especially in chill Malibu. Oh well... After a few minutes of people & dog watching (very dog friendly, btw), my Yin & Yang Latté is ready. I actually have a Breakfast Burrito from next door, so the drink would be part of my breakfast. First sip was as good as the last.
