I was flying out of the country for an extended trip and needed a party dress altered. Marina was awesome. She took the dress in, shortened it and added straps to it which changed the way the dress hung and cit making it more flattering. What I should mention, is she did all this in a weeks time and the final bill was $50. Yes, there are less expensive places for alterations but you know the saying "You get what you pay for"... they mean it. The difference is small and peace of mind has it's own value. I'm the worst procrastinator in the world. I brought my wedding dress in about 2 weeks before I was due to leave for Mexico for my wedding and it needed a LOT of work. Marina was so patient and accommodating! I would have been annoyed and given me some serious attitude but she didn't skip a beat. She was even very tactful when she suggested adding some booby padding! When I came back a few days before my departure date I hit her with another curve ball: my rehearsal dinner dress was too big, in both length and breadth and I asked if she could alter it. Again, she didn't even roll her eyes or anything! The day before I flew to Cancun I came back to pick up my wedding dress and rehearsal dinner dress and they were both perfect. She even made a GORGEOUS bustle for my wedding dress and literally transformed it from an okay dress into a stunning gown. She practically remade the whole thing and it was absolutely breathtaking. The only reason I took off a star is because she's not the cheapest. I think I paid around $300 which I guess isn't that much considering how much she did but still. My wedding dress wasn't some big pouffy number; it was a more normal dress given the fact I was having a destination wedding in the Caribbean in June and didn't want to be sweating my ass off so I thought the alteration fees would be more reasonable. However, if you have a very important garment you need altered, I would highly recommend coming here because she will do a fantastic job. I just don't know if I would bring an everyday item, like pants that need hemming, here because that kind of job just doesn't require the level of skill that Marina brings to the table. read more

Marina clearly has a lot of great reviews...and here's one more. I had a great experience getting my wedding dress altered. My first appointment was on a weekend and the shop was crackin'. I felt a little hurried and the fitting went by so quickly it seemed like a blur. Because of this, I actually started feeling pretty anxious about how the dress would turn out. So, I called Marina back and mentioned my anxiety. She didn't try to convince me I was crazy, but instead allowed me to come back into the shop to make sure the dress was pinned exactly where I wanted it. This time, I clearly explained what I wanted and we re-pinned. I appreciated Marina's patience with me and went home happy. When I returned for my "second" fitting, the alterations were good, but not quite perfect in my eyes. I showed Marina an area that seemed too big, we talked about it, and she ended up pinning it to take it in. Again, no complaints on her part. Only kindness. She also allowed me to try on several different jewelry options while I had the dress on to see what they all looked like. She and my good friend gave input. When I expressed liking one pair of earrings but said I wanted to look around, Marina had no problems with it even after spending time helping me go through accessories. When I came back to try on the dress, it fit like a glove. It felt made for me. I definitely think being assertive about what I wanted made a difference, but overall it was Marina's customer service and skill executing my requests that resulted in the perfect wedding gown. I did think her prices were a little high, though. Another seamstress had quoted me $150, but I ended up paying $250+tax for Marina. She took in the front, waist, hemmed the bottom and added a bustle. I'm not complaining because the experience was good, but it did cost me more than I anticipated. read more

My experience at Le Caprice was very good. I came here for wedding dress alterations and bridesmaid dress alterations. Marina knew what she was doing when she took in my dress from top to bottom to give it the shape that it was meant to have, she also cut off like 4 inches from the bottom and added a bustle, cost was around $270. I was worried about my dress being strapless and considered adding straps, but she got it extremely snug that I felt secure enough to forgo straps and I found myself only pulling on it once or twice the day of my wedding (probably out of habit not because it was slipping). The bridesmaids got their dresses taken in on the sides, it cost them $20-$30 each, very reasonable I thought. I've also seen people bringing in casual dresses and slacks to be altered and I hear her quoting them around $20 which I think is reasonable. Overall, I think at Le Caprice it'd help if you knew exactly what you wanted, but since I was pretty clueless I think she steered me in the right direction and everything went well. However, I can see how it's important to be 100% SURE what kind of undergarment and shoes you are going to wear before making alterations. Also, you don't need to go to her 5-6 months out like I did unless your alterations are really involved. And if you aren't sure what your body will be like, tell her you want a final fitting in the month of your wedding. I thought I was smart getting mine fully altered 5 months prior, but then everyone kept freaking me out saying I might gain or lose weight (luckily I didn't, but I might've gone a different route in retrospect). The good: - she knew what she was doing and was very efficient. - I was pinned in 5 minutes - the bustle looked great in the studio - the veil was beautiful, and was more than 50% cheaper than what the New York boutique where I got my dress was going to charge me for a similar veil - the tailoring price was also about 50% less than what the New York boutique was going to charge me The only not so goods: - the bustle didn't work out well on the night of the wedding. Not quite sure what went wrong. And the bustle didn't hold up for the entire night. Might be worth it to ask Marina or one of the girls for clear directions, take photos of the instructions, and send to bridesmaids ahead of time to make the process easier. - the place is busy! so plan ahead and make appointments nice and early. read more

I took my Made With Love wedding dress in to Le Caprice to have alterations done. Everyone at this establishment was beyond helpful and professional. I went in for my first alterations and, within minutes, my dress was pinned and I was out of there. When I went back, my dress fit like a glove and I felt beautiful. They then took my veil and dress to steam them so they were both ready for my wedding. I came here after purchasing a sample sale wedding dress which was much bigger than I even realized once I brought my nonrefundable dress home. I was worried as most say a dress can't be taken in more than 2 sizes. I also wanted to add sleeves and have a veil made to match. I was incredibly impressed with my services and the dress looked fabulous. At the last minute, two days before the wedding I tried on my dress again and it was way too big yet again. I just wanted to update and take a star off because of what happened with my dress the day of my wedding. I had told Marina that I was having an outdoor camping wedding and that my dress would be bustled pretty much the entire day. Other than for the purpose of photos I wanted it bustled because I would be walking around in dirt. I even told here I was walking down the aisle with it bustled. Anyway...after about an hour the bustle loop for the lining of my dress broke, so for the rest of the entire day the lining of my dress hung all out while the lace was bustled. Eventually I realized this and just un-bustled the lace too, but that left me having to carry my dress most of the night. It was such a disappointment because you pay good money and say what the dress needs and then it doesn't work. I understand that nothing is perfect and that maybe the bustle loop broke because of the outdoor situation I chose, but I had hoped that she should would have reinforced or done what she could to prevent this from happening when I told her my situation. read more

My bridal shop recommended Angelica's custom tailor in Campbell but their price for a 7 point hoop bustle was more expensive than Le Caprice. I got an 11 point hoop bustle for my wedding ballgown here for a better price. I also had my fit-and-flare wedding dress altered here. The wedding dress alterations costed about $325 and $425 for each of my dresses. Turnaround time was about 2 weeks for pickup. The dressing rooms are very spacious and clean. I used Le Caprice for my wedding dress alterations and came in for two fittings. The shop is decorated like a nice boutique - much more upscale than your usual cleaners/alterations place. During the first consultation (they'll ask you to make an appointment for this, not walk in), I put on my dress and she recommended the places where she thought the dress needed to be taken in. I also asked to add fake buttons ($50 for buttons about halfway down the dress). They gave me the estimate and I could have walked out with my dress without any pressure to use them. I decided to go for it because the pricing was within my budget - $160 to add cups, take in the area at the small of my back, and take in the neckline. I came back about 4 weeks later to pick it up. Then after about two weeks of having the dress at home and trying it on, I didn't feel like the neckline fit was quite right, so I took it back. She listened to my concerns and fixed them at no additional cost. When I got the dress back only 1 week later, it was exactly what I wanted. My only recommendation for the shop would be for them to play music because I went alone both times and felt a little awkward staring at myself in the mirror in silence. read more

Marina really, truly, rocked it. I had a weird issue with my dress that seemed difficult for other tailors to fix. I had gone to two other places and told a) "I have no idea how to fix it." and b) "The only fix I know of is to cut your dress is half, make a hideous seam across your stomach and make it 3 inches shorter in the front." AHH! I called Marina and she not only knew what I was talking about before I could even finish describing the problem, but she had me in within a few days and the whole dressed fixed to perfection in a week. I went to two other highly yelp reviewed alteration places before I went to Le Caprice. The first alteration lady told me to get a new wedding dress since my dress would take too much work. My dress is a sample so it is 3 sizes too big. She was not helpful and gave a ridiculously high estimate. The second alteration lady was not friendly and seemed inexperienced. I am so glad I went to Marina. Unlike the other alterations places she was super sweet. She ensured me my dress was an easy fix and gave a reasonable price. I felt confident in her expertise. I called two days later after dropping off my dress. I needed my dress back to get clean at National Gown Cleaners since they were not taking any more appointments after that week.
