Quaint & small restaurant. Made a reservation for two and was seated upstairs by the window. It was a nice seat, but there were a few wasps flying around. I wouldn't necessarily want to sit upstairs again due to the window being open. As for the food, the starter (snail in a crispy shell) and beef tartare (with fries) were good. My duck was a little bit disappointing though. It was a bit underwhelming on the flavor and the side vegetables were bland, in my opinion. I believe the duck would have been better with some sort of sauce, and have it paired with vegetables that were seared and seasoned more. Crème brûlée was good, though! It had a rum flavor to it and had the crispy surface but creamy inside. Not really a restaurant I would wait in line for, but still good if you got the right dishes. read more

Reviews seem good so decided to come here for my last dinner this trip. Unfortunately everything was so so :( White Asparagus Mimosa - it was good but nothing special, everywhere serve the same thing and flavor. Foie Gras French Toast - I enjoyed a lot but it's a heavy dish for sure. Rabbit Leg and wrap with mushroom - unfortunately this dish was just dry. Lamb - it was fine, tender but a bit bland. The best meal of our trip to Paris and likely our trip to Europe generally. Food was "home cooked" meaning it was prepared in the restaurant rather than prepared elsewhere, frozen, and shipped to the restaurant (as many other restaurants do). The French toast with foie gras, pan-fried smoked duck breast, poached pear, and honey-cumin sauce was unique and delicious. For an entree I got the 7-hour beef cheek fondant with gratin dauphinois and bordelaise sauce. This was incredible. My partner got the duck breast with vegetables and a honey cumin sauce, and he also loved his dish. We unfortunately did not have the time or appetite to stay for dessert but I'm sure their selections were great, as lots of things looked good. The service was terrific. Very friendly and helpful. Le Colimaçon gave us one of our absolute favorite meals in Paris. Tucked away in a cozy corner of Le Marais, the restaurant oozes charm from the moment you walk in--stone walls, intimate tables, and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to stay for hours (and we practically did). We started with a bottle of Viognier, which paired beautifully with the escargot and goat cheese-stuffed piquillo peppers. Both were perfectly balanced and rich in flavor--a phenomenal start. For mains, the table split: Scallops for my wife--incredible, beautifully cooked and plated like a work of art. A 10 oz ribeye for my daughter, who also tried Paris Cola (and, as a picky eater, surprised us all by loving both--clearly the Paris magic was working). And then... the 1kg ribeye shared between me and my son. It was massive, juicy, and absolutely delicious. We barely made it to the finish line, but no regrets. To pair with the steaks, we switched to a Syrah and Grenache blend, which was bold, silky, and just what the meal called for. We ended things with crème brûlée and chocolate mousse--both fantastic. The mousse leaned rich and smooth, and the crème brûlée had that perfect crackle top with velvety custard underneath. The food, the service, the ambiance--it was everything a Parisian bistro dinner should be. Get a reservation! We watched several people come in to be told they were booked from opening until 9:30 PM. Wow! If you are a foodie in search of an authentic dining experience in Paris, then put this at the top of your list! Had the most amazing duck here, both the appetizer and my entree. Duck breast was served with yummy sweet potatoes and vegetables. My dining companion's Mediterranean lamb was amazing, I liked it even more than my duck. The wine was so high quality - one of the best glasses of wine I've ever had. Unfortunately we didn't have any dessert, but I wish I had! Service was phenomenal - the entire staff and our server were the nicest, sweetest people ever!! Our server even took photos for us. Do make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. It's the only Paris place we've gone too with okay steak, this one is excellent. The Snails are a must order, duck is very good as well. Best meal we had over 3 weeks in Paris. The star was the escargots in pastry shells. Rich flavorful garlic butter and none lost due to the individual pastry shells. So clever! Both main courses were exceptional, being the duck breast and stuffed rabbit leg. Service was attentive and cordial. Small space but charming. Good and reasonably priced wines. We came here on a Sunday without reservations. I called them to see if they had any tables available since they were fully booked online. Luckily, they were able to fit us in last minute. This was one of our favorite meals in Paris. All the dishes we tried were delicious and the french wine we had was also really good. My favorite appetizers were the foie gras toast and asparagus with truffle cream. Our entrees were also delicious, we had the duck breast and rabbit leg. We loved this place! Everyone was so cute and friendly, and the food was fab! The only thing I'd recommend is arriving a bit early. We had 9:30 reservation, and we had to change our main course order twice since the first two choices (I think it was beef and rabbit) were sold out by the time we sat down. We ended up with foie gras, the trio de fromages (because: cheese) and a tomato salad as entrees and the duck as our main/plat. It was all really delicious. The duck did not taste like it should've been third choice. It was very tasty. The big standout was the French toast dessert. It was SO delicious! It's been a month, and I'm still thinking about it. Bottom line: you'll probably love it. The food was great, and I bet it would've been even better if I had arrived a little earlier because there would've been more to try. More is more when it comes to food. Good food is so much better when the service is on point. The service here is so friendly, fun, and welcoming. They made you feel totally okay with half of the things you wanted to order being gone. I wish we had gone back to try one of the other courses we wanted but weren't able to try that night. Great bistro for French food in the touristy area! I love the idea of putting snails in a chip. One of the challenges for foie gras is it's easy to make to make it greasy. Very good dinner, where everything was well-executed and delicious. It seemed like the entire restaurant was full of out-of-town customers the night we went, but it didn't feel "touristy." For starter, we shared the baked goat cheese with apple and honey. It was savory, sweet, and buttery. The crust also had good texture. My main was the steak tartare, which had a nice beefy flavor and chewy in the right amount. My husband got the rabbit, which was tender and flavorful; the stuffing was also good. The accompaniments were also great, particularly the sesame-crusted mushroom. For dessert, we got the mi cuit de chocolat, which was simple but excellent. The wine was also good. It is no exaggeration when I say, every bite of every dish we had here was delicious. Down to the last morsel, was a gratifying experience. I think their menu changes, but the snail chips might be a mainstay(hence Le Colimaçon) and anybody wise enough to have made a reservation, would have committed a sin( unless of course, it's against your faith) for ignoring this entrée. Remember the name: Croustilles d'escargots en persillade. Pastry dough made up the shells of the escargots, so you pop the whole thing in your mouth and maybe you'd hear your favorite song in your head. The simple watermelon with feta cheese and herbs drizzled with olive oil vinaigrette would wake up your taste buds and from now on, I would try this trick at home. Clean flavors and high quality ingredients were undeniably at play here, for how else could simple ingredients taste this incredible. But wait, we haven't even touch on the main course yet. "Poulpè snackè à la plancha"- this may sound trite, but yes, it was the tenderest octopus I've ever had. Part of it was resting on a delicate bed of hummus with chick peas and arugula salad . I felt like my dish was the best, so I didn't even try my family's selections, for I was so content with mine. But they were all nodding in silence as they tried to savor the beautiful creations before them. And it was a unanimous decision: here was the best meal we had in Paris. Our wait staff was attentive and warm. The restaurant itself was rustic and modern at the same time. It definitely carried a fusion of traditional and hip atmosphere. A little cozy restaurant that was initially hard to find when it's dark. I apparently walked by it on my first attempt at locating this place. Their prices were pretty decent under 30 euros. These were the following items ordered: 1) Hamburger de foie gras (18 EUROS) No it wasn't a hamburger and yes it was mainly a plate of seared foie gras (duck/goose liver). It was good. Nothing spectacular/unique about it though. How can you say no to foie gras in France? 2) Confit de Canard (18 EUROS) Duck confit. It was cooked well. Nothing spectacular to rave about. 3) Magret Canard (23 EUROS) Seared duck breast served medium-rare. It was pretty good. My mother doesn't like eating duck that rare so it's up to your preference. If you like it cooked above medium+ then you probably won't want to order it here. 4) St Jacques en Coquille (26 EUROS) Fresh sea scallops on shell served with creamy risotto. This was a very good dish. Highly recommend ordering this here. Nice big chunks of scallops that were seasoned well. 5) Daurade entiere rotie (26 EUROS) Pan seared whole Sea Bream fish. It was cooked perfectly, not over or undercooked. With just the right seasoning and you can taste that it was very fresh. Would order this again. 6) Mousse Chocolat Tanzanie (8 EUROS) Chocolate Tanzania mousse. If you love chocolate mousse, this is a no brainer. read more

Tried this place for dinner yesterday. While the people are very good and hospitable (which is what earned them our 3 stars), the food was underwhelming and honestly seemed rather over priced. We ordered the highly recommended rabbit leg and duck, among other dishes, and neither hit the mark for us. The rabbit was undercooked and the rabbit was also not very enjoyable. Even the wine recommended with the rabbit was a mismatch. We ended with a creme brûlée and that too was ordinary at best. Overall; we can't recommend them for the food! read more

While perhaps not your usual place for a work dinner, Le Colimaçon checked all the boxes off our list: cozy, table for eight, centrally located, lots of meat options, traditional French dishes... and even a round of shots (some sort of apple liqueur) to polish it off. Our waitress was patient with our requests and during our moments of indecision, and was happy to propose dessert and cheese options, which were not noted on the menu. The menu itself was unusual, as the dinner options were listed on a chalkboard (only one upstairs, where we were seated), but the wine had its own thick folding paper menu, bottles classified by price. My rabbit was excellent, though I waffled between that and the lamb, which was also served with a side of vegetables. In the end I wished I had ordered the lamb (I tried a bite of my colleague's--she had also struggled between those two options), because the lard that wrapped the bacon overpowered any other taste on the plate. The pleurote mushrooms gave texture, and the stuffing also had the texture (but not taste) of the foie gras. The magret would have been a good choice, too; my other colleague thoroughly enjoyed hers. As for the others, who ordered entrecôte and tartare, they seemed pleased with their orders. The desserts were fantastic, too. I would have been keen on trying the cheese plate, but when our waitress listed the daily selection, they only proposed softer cheeses like chèvre and Camembert and Roquefort--it would have been nice to have a hard cheese option to mix it up. read more

This restaurant is located in a very happening neighborhood of Paris, one in which every street is literally lined with restaurants, cafes, and bars. This really may be the one you should stop at though. The exterior is a bit dark and unassuming, so it's easy to pass by it. When inside, however, you feel like you are dining in a wine cellar. The food was delicious. As was the wine. Everything was at a very good price point as well, especially the wine. I did, however, enjoy our starters and desserts a little bit more than the main dishes. For starters you really can't go wrong with anything that has foie gras in it...especially their hamborgeois, the most rich sandwich you will probably ever taste: seared foie gras and thinly sliced duck breast in between two slices of French toast (it's their specialty and definitely worth ordering). From our group I tried the main dishes of bacon-wrapped rabbit and duck breast with apple confit. I personally liked the rabbit more as the duck breast was a bit overdone. For dessert my wife and I shared the chocolate lava cake with caramel sauce and ice cream which was probably the best and most decadent lava cake I've ever had in my life...wishing we ordered two.
