After an amazing week of wonderful deli, street and counter food, my NYC trip will be capped off by one of the worst sandwiches I have ever ordered. In a city with a deep culinary richness, which New Yorkers are deservedly proud of, the Port should be ashamed of this $20 pile of stale bread, limp tomato and dry chicken. I am no food snob by any means and most likely would not have reviewed this, but the cost/quality ratio pushed me over the edge. Historically I have not review food venues because a random off service night or imbalanced recipe can occur. Proprietors and staff should not be punished for these types of occurrences. This is different - this is failure by design. To be clear, my service was good, as was the service at tables around me. My issue is only with the quality and price of the food. JFK Terminal 7 past the TSA checkpoint. Server was prompt, polite and attentive. Ambiance was nice - Large rectangular bar and an expansive table seating to the side with ample room between tables. Bar has a large runway view. Yes, the drink and food prices are very high but considering that you're in New York City and a major international airport, maybe not surprising. The prosciutto and fresh mozzarella ciabatta bun was fresh and delicious. The cranberry salad with the added grilled chicken was good as well. I had a canned beer that was cold and refreshing. My wife's Pinot Grigio was ok but for a wine bar, could have been better - seemed that the bottle had been open for a while. Considering it was the airport, I'll give this place 4 stars. I wouldn't normally give a place like this 4 stars, but It was by FAR the best option at JFK. We shared a bottle of rosé and a Cheese platter. The cheese was pretty basic: goat, Brie, cheddar and jack, but at least the cheddar was nice and sharp. It was also served with basic white bread roasts and grapes. Not very creative, but it was good enough to eat every bite. It was just what we needed before our 2-1/2 hour delay.
