nestled in the seattle library, this little coffee stand serves up pretty decent matcha and no upcharge for alternative milks. the earl grey matcha ($8) was creamy, lightly sweetened, and had light floral notes. I could taste the earl grey and it wasn't too sweet!

When I found out that there was a matcha place inside the library I knew I had to come. The inside area of the library is so pretty, and there's plenty of seating around on the second floor where Howdy Yall is located. The library opens at 10am on weekdays which made it a bit hard to come before work. I got a maple sea salt matcha. The matcha itself was really good, but I do wish there was a bit more maple flavor. The service was great and I got my drink really quick. If I was in the area I'd definitely try to come back.

Cute pop up/set up inside the SPL, I honestly liked the architecture and location! Drink wise, I thought that the earl grey was surprisingly good, but tastes more like a milk tea than a matcha. On the sweeter side, but would still recc a cream top

I've been meaning to try Howdy Y'all ever since they went from a pop-up cart to a permanent location in the Seattle Public Library. I originally wanted a matcha, but the barista talked me into getting the iced double hojicha latte with oat milk, which was a great recommendation. It's definitely one of the better hojicha drinks I've had. The roasted, nutty flavor came through really well, and the oat milk complemented it perfectly. The hojicha cream added a nice richness without making the drink overly sweet. The baristas were super friendly and personable, which I really appreciated. There's seating at the café, plus plenty more throughout the library, making it a great place to grab a drink and spend a few hours reading or getting some work done. I'd definitely come back!

Very cute coffee stand inside the Seattle Public Library- Central location. Staff were super friendly. Grabbed an iced Americano. Service was very prompt and drink was well made. The stand is next door to the library gift shop on the main level. Highly recommend if you're stopping by the library.

One of the best matcha spots in Seattle!! I'm a big matcha fan and sometimes Seattle matcha can be a hit or miss but their earl grey matcha is sooo good!! Highly recommend!! It's creamy and has the right amount of sweetness and critrusness. Paris really well with matcha and it took me by surprise.

Very convenient location in the downtown public library. The service was friendly and fast. They have tables right there or lots around the library. We got the early grey matcha, one with cream top one without. I wish I had gotten the pistachio matcha instead, the syrup wasn't my favorite and a bit too sweet. I didn't love the matcha they use, it was a chalky. I would come again while studying to try there other drinks, I've also heard their coffee is good.

Overall nice vibe it's in a library so it's peaceful but the homeless population in this building is unsettling. Service was nice nothing special tho, just average. The drinks taste and look very similar, tried Vanilla Bean Matcha, Maple Sea Salt Matcha, and the Earl Grey Matcha. The maple and vanilla bean taste almost identical, vb was very milky, maple we got w oat and all u could taste was the oat flavor. Earl Grey matcha was very good tho

Any excuse to go to the SPL is a green light for me. Staff was very friendly, matcha was strong and flavorful, vibes are immaculate, easy access right inside the entrance from 5th ave. I ordered their 'secret' strawberry matcha which was bomb. I think topping the drinks with their signature foam makes a big difference.

Good place to get matcha and coffee. I think I like their coffee more than their matcha. Service was okay. Cool spot in the library.

Move over Phe! You have some hidden competition with your matcha when it comes to this place. My friend and I decided to go on an unplanned matcha run and it took us here when he said he found this place on TikTok. This is on the 3rd floor of Central Library in downtown Seattle, though you can also get directly here using the entrance on 5th Ave; regardless, try to get here via public transportation if at all possible. There's not really an interior here, since the whole library itself is the interior: crowded because it's matcha but oddly quiet and mellow because it's a library setting. The only visible menu is up at the counter and servers take your order there. My friend and I got the earl grey matcha with oat milk, and oh boy this gives places like Phe a run for their money! The matcha here is earthy and floral, and the taste distinction between the matcha itself and milk is perfectly clear. The matcha's not muddled by the milk one bit, and I could have probably gotten a second one if I was crazy. They also don't charge extra for milk substitution so that was also a huge plus for me, and anyone who may be slightly lactose intolerant. This place got relatively busy throughout our stay here though it still feels there needs to be more advertising done. For matcha lovers I wouldn't pass up on this place where you can get awesome matcha AND visit one of Seattle's most architecturally pleasing libraries in the process.

8/10 overall earl grey matcha (9.25/10) one of their signature drinks!! super yummy without being overpowering and not too sweet. creamy and a good sipping drink vanilla bean matcha (7/10) too milky imo, and can't really taste the vanilla or matcha maple sea salt matcha w oat milk (8/10) i feel like they forgot the maple sea salt. but pretty goood one of the better matchas ive had blueberry cheesecake pastry (7/10) they warmed it up and it was good but just too sweet overall really nice! matcha is okay priced (def not for everyday though) and the owner is super sweet. one of my favorite earl grey matchas

Loved the vibe, friendly & mellow staff, and the seating area space. There are long tables to work at, comfy seating with games, and chairs to enjoy your coffee with friends. I ordered a drip to try out...did not disappoint. My kids ordered some iced coffee - sorry I wasn't paying attention when they ordered - and they were delicious! We did order a few food items to share for a snack but they were gone before I could snap a pictures. The coffee was perfect, no hint of burnt flavor. We got the salmon rice bowl, cauliflower and yodelin broth with shrimp added. The salmon rice bowl was essentially a salad topped on rice and fresh salmon. The quality of the ingredients were fantastic, you could tell how fresh it was but the actual dish itself wasn't anything crazy. The yodelin broth was a bowl of complex flavors. You could taste the fish, and it was very comforting. The mini shrimp in it were surprisingly good and they don't skimp out on the quantity. Finally, their cauliflower dish was delicious. It was a little crisp without being overly hard. The creamy sauces paired so well with the chili crisps. Definitely on the pricier end for the food but so good.

This was on a Sunday afternoon close to 5pm, and there were still so many people occupying nearly every seat inside. I did come back to try their matcha matcha drink only to find it gone from their current menu as of May 2026. Instead, their turon matcha immediately caught my eye, as it has banana and I've been obsessed with banana-flavored toppings and puree on my matcha lately. It has matcha and house banana puree, both of which work well together. The tiny layer of house banana puree has all the flavor, especially when you mix the whole drink together. Very refreshing, and their ceremonial matcha's grassy tones still came out despite the banana puree being just as strong in the drink. Their matcha here comes pretty close to making it to the highest spots on my list of my most favorite matcha places in Seattle. Even if it isn't on the top of that list, their drinks are still 5+ star quality.

I noticed that they now pour drinks from a pre-made plastic jug instead of making them fresh like when the store first opened. I usually don't get sick from drinking coffee but twice in a row is pretty bad. Their drinks are also overly sweet and most of them do not have a 0% sweet option, which is usually what I order from other coffee and tea shops, and it's probably because most of the ingredients are pre-mixed. They also use thick plastic cups, considering that Seattle is a pretty green city and a lot of similar Vietnamese coffee shops use sustainable cups. Sad to say, but my time visiting this chain has come to an end.
