We passed by and saw they were open for 10 minutes more and ran in. The girl who served us was happy we came in and smiley ready to serve us. As a celiac, trying to be a tourist, many times it's hard to find a snack - a sweet treat - etc. Le macaron took care of us! They have a variety of flavors to choose from, we chose six different flavors - each as good as the previous. The pistachio was absolutely the best in the entire universe! The store is clean, well put together, and service is fast. Are they expensive? Absolutely. Are they delicious? Absolutely. If you ever find yourself needing a sweet treat, definitely head over to "Le Macaron French Pastries" and ask for a Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich! I had never seen a macaron ice cream sandwich, before visiting this place, but boy am I glad I found this little secret out. This is my 2nd time to visit and both visits I got the "Pistachio" Ice Cream sandwich which comes in a Strawberry Macaron. I don't really know how to explain the goodness that comes from eating this sammie but just know that soft gooey macaroon with sweet cold pistachio ice cream is something to savor. On our last trip to St. Augustine, we made a stop at La Macaron, since both my fiance and I have a liking for French macarons. Given that finding a store back in South Florida that has them is difficult to say the least, we made a b-line for the entrance as soon as we saw the storefront. The shop has a splendid variety of different macarons as well as other pastries and delights. But our eyes were set on the macarons, which if you have never had the ground almond and soft meringue-made shells, with creamy goodness in the center, you're missing out. Rich, divine, and satisfying, we ordered six macarons to enjoy throughout the day, such as one of their bubble gum, mango, Colombian coffee, salted caramel, Belgian chocolate, and red velvet varieties. I have an obsession with these little cookies. I once went through a month of trying to make them myself, at home, from scratch... I watched videos, tried different recipes, different baking temperatures, times... Cold eggs, room temp eggs, cream of tartar... It went on and on. While some batches tasted amazing- none of them looked like the beautifully colored little macarons that you see in bakeries - I gave up for a minute and then looked for low carb recipes, started again, and I will admit to you, I am not a macaron baker. And have ultimate respect for those that can make the magic happen. So, when I see a macaron bakery, I am always drawn to it, and must try at least 1 (ok maybe 5). Also please put napkins on the cones as they touch money and then touch the cones, very UNSANITARY or at least wear gloves. And saying you don't have napkins when they next to you is even more rude. Macaroons ok. Main reason for bad review is treatment of customers by owners/managers. Accused our children of knocking down a rack based on erroneous assumption of employee, even when our kids were no where near the vicinity of the fallen items at any time. Wouldn't hear our opinion or verify with their surveillance footage. Just treated us aggressively and told us to get lost. I had passed both Le Macaron locations a few times, trying to convince my family that this would be the perfect little sweet something. They brushed it off saying "oh those are expensive, not sure it's worth it." When they were browsing in the stores nearby, I popped in and ordered a box of 6 ($15, but worth it-also I didn't tell them how much it costs, lol.) Cute interior of shop with cases filled with French pastry treats, the showcase of course being the macaroons. I got the lavender white chocolate & coconut for me, with a mix of mango, lemon, vanilla and Belgium chocolate for the others in my group. The lavender was amazing-perfect texture, the flavors came through and had just enough filling. The coconut was also good, but not my favorite. My family loved the other choices I picked out and said "okay, now that was good macaroon-worth it!" I wrote a long review on the pros and cons of this place and it was taken down, imagine that. Long story short, they are not great quality. We tried six different macarons and they were all undercooked and chewy. The flavors of the macarons were great, but the texture was definitely subpar. The only thing I actually liked from here was the honey vanilla chocolate. Even the rest of the speciality chocolates tasted either boring or disgusting. Quick review: an adorable spot to pop in for a small treat while downtown. Friendly, helpful staff and good macarons. A box of 6 is a bit pricey ($15) but if you get the lemon or raspberry flavors, it will totally be worth it. The nitty gritty details: the place is clean and the staff is friendly. They have many more options to choose from other than macarons (edible lipsticks!! So cute!) The macarons themselves are good and there are a ton of flavors to choose from. They aren't the light flakey macarons one will find in a quaint French town, but they are pretty dang good for Florida. One macaron is $2.50 which isn't bad for a small treat but if you want a box and are hoping it would be cheaper to buy "in bulk" think again. Still $2.50 a piece. But, I'd pay $15 a box for the lemon macarons because they are gooooood. Conclusion: I think this spot is cute and quick and will satisfy that small sweet tooth craving you're after while walking downtown in the heat, but not necessarily a place I would make a special trip downtown for (considering how hectic parking is and the heat you have to walk in to get to it). read more

Tucked away on one of the busiest sections of St. George Street is Le Macaron. Once you enter it's a cute, but kinda of over-the-top, little cafe. I'd imagine that not many places in France are actually decorated in such a gaudy fashion. They do have a HUGE selection of flavors for their Macarons. We had the intention of just buying a few, but ended up buying an entire box. It is a little pricey - you get no real break on buying them in a larger quantity. So after what seemed like a nearly impossible task of picking out flavors we checked out and tried them out! I have to say that I had really high hopes and they didn't really deliver. I LOVE a good macaron and these were nothing special. Many of them didn't even taste like what they were supposed to - as in the flavor wasn't even present. We actually ended up throwing a few away after trying them because the taste just wasn't there. Oh well - not terrible but also not great when we had such high hopes. read more
