Creperie on Ludlow St came up in my search and we happened to be down that way on Sunday. I'm also a huge ice cream and gelato fan, but husband is lactose intolerant so he prefers non-dairy. Last year we discovered the amazing vegan ice cream at Orchard Grocery, but I wanted the real thing this trip and he apparently hadn't wanted a frozen treat at all so wouldn't do Orchard Grocer for himself and a different place for me. Happy medium? Share a good crêpe! We found it at Crêperie. SO many choices, many similar to ones we loved in France. Extensive selection, but it didn't take long to decide on the apple-walnut-caramel crêpe to share, costing not much more than 2 ice creams. We watched the lone young man as he poured batter onto the round griddle to just the perfect thinness; as he expertly flipped it; as he loaded on plenty of apple compote, plenty of walnuts, and gently squeezed caramel sauce. Then he folded it into a neat rectangle, scooped it into an exactly the same size pan, flipped the whole thing over onto another griddle and left it to heat while he made a crêpe for the person behind us. At exactly the right moment (was he watching the clock? or maybe he's just THAT good!), he flipped it over, slid the crêpe onto a plate, artistically drizzled more caramel sauce on top and then gently shook some powdered sugar over it. Handed me 2 forks and knives and we sat on stools at the counter for our Sunday afternoon treat! Excellent! They have several savory crêpes (in Paris, those were usually buckwheat crêpes called galettes) and many sweet ones. Unfortunately it's more of a takeout place, with just the few stools at a counter inside, and a couple of small tables outside. I'm still looking for a genuine Parisian-style restaurant with a good selection of galettes and crêpes - but this was a great find and I definitely recommend it to you!

Would've preferred popping boba or coconut jelly instead. Fast service from friendly staff. Tasted refreshing on a humid day as a goodbye to the summer kind of drink. The food is delicious and the employees are very nice, but it takes them an eternity to prepare anything. It really takes three guys 35 minutes to make a ham, cheese and tomato sandwich?!? This is not a one-off issue, unfortunately. I've been here numerous times and it's a consistent problem. I'm torn because I really love the food, but I come on my lunch break and would prefer not to blow over half that time waiting around for a meal that should take 10 minutes to make, tops. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! The staff seem relatively friendly but the owner (Muna? Moona?) is a horrible, nasty RACIST. She treats her non-black customers like garbage and attempts to mask it with pride for her black-owned business. I've literally seen her snub people and turn them away. What is up with that?!
