I ordered the Tom Ka soup. It is a coconut lemon grass soup. I added chicken to mine. It was full of thinly sliced chicken, onions, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli and noodles. I ordered my soup mild. My husband ordered the Tom Yum medium heat level with shrimp as his protein. The medium was the perfect spice level for him. My daughter ordered Laksa soup with chicken and medium spice level. The elderly couple was a bit abrasive and rough around the edges back then, but more so now. The behavior and mannerisms of this couple combined is very comparable to Seinfeld's 'Soup Nazi'. I politely asked the old woman (others refer to her as toothless) if I may take a picture of the menu and she practically had a heart attack. She screamed - "If you take a picture, I will kick you out of this place!". The old man also had a sarcastic tone in his voice when I asked about mayo in the chicken salad sandwich. The mushroom soup was pretty good and the chicken salad filling was OK. The house baked bread was the only thing that really made this whole experience bearable. It appears as though that these two seniors are set in their miserable, toxic and irritating ways and are too proud to make a change for the better.

This is the star of the show and a must try if you want to know what Hainan chicken should taste like. I was just at Portland and ate at Nong's Khao Man Gai which is a Thai version of Hainan chicken and Mamalee just blows it away. On hot days I use an element or toaster oven outside to cook these. I plan to be a repeat customer as everything I've had was exceptionally delicious. And I repeat, the value is outstanding for this kind of quality food. Order ahead online and pick up at their window to make sure they have what you want. Or go by their window to order. I would go back and try some different entrees to see if anything else is better, but I would say the salads are likely the best choice here. As you would expect, it's significantly less sweet and has a slightly drier texture than a regular cookie, but if you like that kind of "better for you" treat, it's good. Very cocoa-forward.
