It was full of fat and gristle and I could barely eat it. The green beans were excellent. The bread was excellent. The service was excellent. When our waitress asked me about the steak, and I said that it was so so, she told the chef they offered me a cup of coffee, but at that point I did not want coffee, but I appreciated this sentiment.

So while waiting 10 minutes, they finally begin to clean the area and one of the owners shows up. Of course she is speaking French (one of our girls was native so translation wasn't an issue) and ask why we don't want to sit in one area versus where we requested. She is trying to convince our friend to convince us that that other table is just as good as the one we selected. We are telling her that it was tooooo crowded by the table and the other is more open and has more sunlight. Kid you not, sis was not going. She was going to use her last breath to convince us. My friend respectfully stopped responding and just pointed to the table that was finished being cleaned up. As we sat, it took forever to receive menus, water and service. I swear folks was standing around looking at us. I get it, we are Americans and that don't speak French requesting service. however, I don't see that as a sign to mistreat your customers. We ordered a burger meal, mushroom risotto and ceviche. With caramel cheesecake as dessert and two alcoholic drinks. My friend ordered a glass of white wine and I ordered the lemonade Jack Daniels. The burger was good but I wasn't asked how I liked my burger cooked. Thankfully, it came out great. The fries were cooked crispy which I like so that was amazing. The risotto was thick and a smidge dry for me. The ceviche, was great. Overall, the meals were alright. Nothing special for paying 75€.

As I walked up I was quickly greeted by someone and sat down outside. They do have an English menu- if you're wondering. And the staff is very friendly. After looking over the menu I decided to try the mussels appetizer with garlic sauce and French onion soup. The mussels were very simple but flavorful nothing special, but to hit the spot. The French onion soup on the otherhand was so full of flavor and really hit the spot. Loved the ratio of soup to bread and cheese. It's one yummy soup. All in all it was a quick meal, but a lovely one at that.

A concise, detailed account:…read more-Because we (nicely-dressed) had reservations, we were seated promptly, then completely ignored by the many staff passing our table for 20 minutes; -after 20 minutes, the maitre d' obsequiously seated another (French) couple two tables down from us, then told us they would be a party of eight and "would we kindly move to another table?"!!! -we were moved to a table that lacked any silverware, then again ignored by the constant flow of staff for an additional 30 minutes -- altho' both the maitre d' and head waiter regularly glanced towards us, then quickly looked away. - when an unsmiling & clearly unfriendly server finally brought menus, he all but threw them onto our tiny table and left -- no "would you care for some water or a beverage?" - 20 minutes later, the headwaiter finally took our order, pretending he couldn't understand my perfectly-accented French when I ordered "du l'huitres, svp". This 1960s standard disdain for Anerican customers is SO rude and old!!! - the only bright spot in this disgusting display of anti-foreigner vile lack of service was the excellent oysters and my partner's duck confit. Apparently the cooks were not told to spit in our food; -30 minutes (no exaggeration) of being again ignored despite nearly pleading to have our main dishes cleared, dessert menus were at last dropped in front of us; - we decided to opt out of dessert when it became obvious that dessert would clearly take another two hours of being ignored before dessert would be ordered, presented, and cleared. We were then constantly and intentionally ignored for yet another 35 minutes as we repeatedly tried to get our "check" ("notre compte, s'il vous plaît?"). The maitre d' finally stopped bowing and scraping to his longtime customers to print our bill 10 feet from us, then passed it to our waiter -- who promptly crumpled it up and instead brought the payment machine to a French customer's table instead. - 20 minutes later, he finally came to our table, misprinted one bill, printed another and finally took our payment -- all the while mumbling and cursing (!!) in French. We have been fortunate to enjoy dining in some of the world's finest venues. Only twice have we been treated so badly: our first dinner in Paris in the late '90s, and last night at the appallingly unkind Brasserie Lipp. Fortunately for Lipp, their decent food, beautiful old decor, and ancient reputation will keep the suckers coming. Food came out room temperature/ cold, which was disappointing. Service was spotty. Ambiance was very nice - the dining room is very pretty. The best parts of dinner were the beet salad, braised leeks, and chocolate mousse. DH ordered the roast chicken, which he enjoyed a lot. Portions are hearty.
