My friend & I went to Le Rivage Friday night for her Birthday. (We had been there a few years ago, and loved it.) We were seated promptly, & given menus. For the Price fixed of $55, my menu said Soup, Appetizer, (Salad), Entree, Dessert & coffee/tea. My friend's menu said soup or appetizer. When I told the waiter that my menu said both, he tried to take the menu away from me, saying it was the wrong menu. We asked again if he could at least honor my menu for both, and one for hers. He said he was not allowed to. we said it was on the menu that I could have both, and since it's her birthday, couldn't he make an exception? He said No. our escargot and salad were delicious. Her fish dish was fine, nothing special, and my liver and onions were pretty good. The mashed potatoes were delicious the carrots and spinach were cold. When we told them, the waitress did bring her fresh hot, vegetables towards the end of our meal. Desserts were delicious. When I got home and looked at the menu online, it also showed soup AND appetizer.(When we asked, we were told there was no manager or owner to speak to.) My birthday friend was very disappointed, also, that the waiter was told it was her birthday, & did not put a candle in her dessert (simple?), but did so for the table behind us. read more

Service was poor. Server did not check back after serving the entrees. Also never offered to serve additional wine. My veal was tough and had little flavor. The restaurant is very crowded. They would do better to remove some of the tables. Other diners did report high satisfaction with fish entrees. Kitchen was overworked. Much too long to receive each course. read more

N'est pas magnifique - extraordinaire! I've eaten at many French restaurants in my life, lived in France, speak the language fluently, have a god-daughter there and so on - I know France! Been in this country for over 25 years and I've never been to such a wonderful and authentic restaurant as this. I was actually looking for somewhere that had fruits de mer and the other Yelp reviews turned me on to this place. We had lunch there one day - Lobster bisque & escargots for my partner and I had salmon niçoise. Sure niçoise is typically with tuna, but this was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever eaten - a little crispy on the outside and perfectly soft in the middle but yet cooked perfectly. The waiter (Carlos) was perfectly attentive and very helpful. So impressed, so we had to have dinner there. So tonight we went for dinner. They have an á la carte menu, but it's all pretty much paired into a four course $35 prix-fixe menu with supplements for the more expensive items. Mon dieu what a great deal! My partner started with scallop on julienned vegetables and I had a goat cheese crêpe. I've never seen a bigger scallop and as well cooked and my crêpe was fantastic! (British readers - think Findus crispy pancake but no where near as pikey!) Salad in between with brilliant dressing (which they sell by the way for a very reasonable $6) and my partner never eats tomatoes - she did tonight! For our mains, I had dover sole ($12 supplement but it's bloody $30 by itself so the rest of the dinner for me was almost "free") and she had sweetbreads. Once the sole was cooked, it was presented to me on a platter and I was then asked if I'd like deboned which I chose (sole can be such a pain to eat otherwise). I've never had this offered except in France or maybe England - wow!! My partner's sweetbread was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a great cream and mushroom sauce - again, something one typically only finds in France. Dessert - oh my God! I chose Creme Brûlée - a perfect example with lovely biscuits (see the photo). My partner chose chocolate and hazelnut torte with banana ice-cream - I'm not a big chocolate desert fan, but when I return, I'll order this. The bottle of Sauternes we had with puddings really made them special. To sum up - excellent staff, fantastic food, rather crappy location and decor but if you're in Boca Raton and want to experience some of the best French food in America, seriously go here! read more

I brought out of town visitors last night. I had asked in advance for a quiet table the first table they put me at was near the kitchen. They put us at a different table, which appeared to be quiet. On the other side of the partition was the hostess stand. The phone would ring there, and it sounded like a five alarm fire. That happened several times and then somehow they quieted it down. Maybe just no one was calling? The pros fixed menu has clearly changed from an appetizer and a soup to just an appetizer or a soup. However, they do give you a salad, which is not listed on the menu. Everyone liked their appetizers and the salad was very fresh. We were pleased with the veal in mushroom sauce, and the Bronzino. I had the duck with the cherry sauce, which was very dry. My friend had the beef tenderloin with an $18 up charge. He ordered it medium rare. It came out overcooked, but he did not complain. Not once during the dinner did the waitress come over to ask how things were. When she finally came by by The at the end of the dinner, I told her his was overcooked; by then he had eaten it. it is also also to be noted that the restaurant was half empty. My daughter and I ate here last week, and we were very disappointed. The wait person was super condescending and to add injury to insult, my daughters steak au Poivre was thirty five percent fat. The edible part was no bargain either. My meal was okay, but her steak was unconscionable. One would think that people doing business with the public would be more considerate. I was in town visiting relatives and thankfully they made reservations for this excellent restaurant. Menu has options for a 3 course meal for $36 with almost all the regular menu items. Some items have a small upcharge but this clearly is they way to go for dinner. I started with the French onion soup which is something I make several times a year at home. This was one of THE best FOS I have ever had. The broth had flavor I wish I knew how to extract and the cheese was perfectly broiled. I would go back just for this. For dinner, I had the chicken forestiere. (Pic posted). Everything was perfect, including the side of carrot soufflé. I've never had anything so perfect. The sliced chicken and mushroom gravy were also spot on. One of my dinner mates had a special, which was the rack of lamb. They attested that it too, was excellent and absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. For dessert, I had the orange cheesecake (pic posted). It was light and almost fluffy, but the almond fork broke tho first time I used it. It too, was delicious. Service was attentive and brisk, our waiter didn't smile (maybe it's a French thing), but had a dry, witty charm. Looking forward to going back here when I return to this area! Yum. read more

Awful. All staff service from start to finish was horrible, besides from one waitress. I brought a cake for a birthday and we were met with a scoffs, rolled eyes, and absolutely rude comments that we can hear being whispered in a corner with other waitstaff. Busboy seems to dislike his job when he got VISIBLY annoyed that we asked for a box and asked for him to slice small pieces of the cake. Other waitress got upset when a mask got caught of fork she was taking it away and was making sarcastic comments when asked for dessert menu. I would understand if it was time consuming if it was a full house, but it was HALF EMPTY. Never coming back, and won't recommend to anyone unless they come here for the attitude. I have eaten at many French restaurants in the US and in France. My dining experience last night by far was the worst. The food was good; however, the service was TERRIBLE. One of the waitresses was absolutely rude and complained incessantly. It was the same with the busboy. Do they really hate their jobs? Do you think we can't hear the rude comments standing three feet away? We were a large party with a half empty restaurant. Would not recommend as the food was not enough to rescue a horrible dining experience. There are better choices like Cafe Boulud. My recommendation is to stay away unless they change their wait staff except for one who tried to save our celebration. Truly disappointed and felt disrespected. read more

A very quaint and charming restaurant in Boca. Made a reservation and we were seated promptly. The restaurant itself is quite cozy and the wait staff were courteous and prompt. The food itself is classic french fare and they have a complete dinner menu for $37 which is quite reasonable. The escargot was simple and delicious, you can't go wrong with butter and garlic. The veal sweetbreads were also quite tender and cooked perfectly. All in all, a very good choice if you want great French food at a modest price. read more

C'est manifique!!! Since romance has not typically been my sweetheart's long suit, I asked him to take the time to plan a romantic evening for me. He came through with aces, when he took me to Le Rivage for an intimate, elegant diner. From the moment we entered, the staff was attentive and friendly. Our waiter was helpful, but didn't hover. When we decided to slip out of our jackets, two people magically appeared to help us drape them over the backs of our chairs. They clearly care about making each patron feel valuable and appreciated for chosing Le Rivage. THAT'S GOOD BUSINESS! Now, let me get to the food. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, the food. The best escargot I've ever had...served with an extra basket of excellent bread for sopping up every drop of the sublime garlic herbed butter that the snails had rested under. Both the rack of lamb and the sole munieure were perfection. Even though the servings were generous and we were full early on, we ate every bite. Then there was dessert. Creme brulee with the carmelized top just thick enough and crisp enough (I have trouble getting it that way, even though I use a torch when I make it). Also, the creme itself was the perfect consistency. I'm a good baker, but not that good. I bow to the experts at this charming establishment. The only suggestions I would make to the manager are to lower the lights just a little to enhance the mood of the room, and, if possible, improve the acoustics (It felt a bit noisy, when we arrived). Though I must admit, we stopped noticing the noise as we became involved in all that was sooooo right about Le Rivage. They have created a lovely spot that is sophisticated without being stuffy. We love this restaurant. It is a hidden gem. The food is amazing and authentic. Service is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable. We try to eat here every other month - one of the few restaurants in the area we frequent on a regular basis. This restaurant blows other French restaurants in the area away, including the most expensive ones. I consider this a $$ restaurant based on the cost of the 3 course dinner at $37.00 that includes an appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. There are specials nightly and sone items have an additional cost. You can also order a la carte. I am sure if you try this place you will love it and keep going back. Bon appetit! read more

We called but they didn't answer so I left a message. Owner called and I told him my wife had severe hearing issue and needed a table in small room in back or against wall. He reassured me he would oblige. He called me three more times asking if I wanted a reservation and I kept telling him I had already had one booked. When I arrived at restaurant there was only a small middle table and no note about my request. The host wouldn't help so we were forced to sit in small middle table. Ordered drinks and Santa Margarita wine was put in smaller glass than any other wine. Waitress was rude and abrupt. When my wife asked about crabcake, she shut her up and said do not interrupt me. This rudeness continued throughout meal. The crab cakes were fried and awful and all the sides were cold. My friend asked that the included salad be chopped,. When the bill came she charged $11. For salad. We pointed it out and she ran away with bill. Have never been so rudely treated in a restaurant. The servers were all rude and we had to wave someone down for some water. They are known for the duck and it was just ordinary. We will not return and will tell our friends about experience. read more

We had a 6 PM reservation and were seated promptly. The parking lot belies this wonderful restaurant. We decided to have the dinner, and ordered a bottle of wine based on our choices. The four of us ordered the French onion soup which was fabulous! Salad, which was average arrived. Two of us had the duck with cherry sauce, one had the scallops and one had the chicken in mushroom sauce. All were perfectly done. We each had a different dessert and beverage, and thoroughly enjoyed them (cheesecake, apple tart, creme brûlée and chocolate mousse). The service was excellent! During dinner, we were discussing who we thought would enjoy this restaurant. There was a long line waiting for a table, so reservations would definitely be a must. We will return!! read more

We never tried this place before but, so wanted to try some place new in Boca. The place was first so empty and four of us were a bit scared but, it ended up one of the best meal we ever had in the area! A French server was very friendly and knowledgeable - we were all very happy for our decision to try this charming place. We'll be back during our annual visit in FL. read more

Small little restaurant. You want to make a reservation and go early. This is the BEST place in Boca Raton to come for real authentic French food. We had a good dinner -6 people. I requested a cake and candle for the birthday boy-78 today- his wife also requested the same thing independently. It was never done. Why not? Too much trouble to stick a candle in a dessert? Our waiter was gruff, impatient, forgot how to smile,forgot our orders for coffee. The only thing he did well was take pictures of the six of us. What happened to good old fashioned French charm? That should be part of the meal don't you think? The food was fine- not memorable but fine but the ambience in the restaurant was not good enough. What a great find! My wife and I were looking for a nice, sit-down restaurant with escargots and a great atmosphere. Le Rivage not only met these requirements, but everything we ate was quite delicious! Our evening got off to a terrific start with the warm greeting, and the outstanding service continued throughout the entire meal. We both had the duck with peppercorn sauce and the chocolate mousse...deee-licious! The escargots was excellent, and the buttery sauce offered a great dip for the bread. We had high hopes....evidently too high. Service with a frown would describe pretty much all the servers we saw. Our waiter pushed his way around an older customer that was struggling to get around a table. Our waiter never smiled serving our table nor did any waiter at any table close to ours. The restaurant was crowded and a bit loud because of it. Sometimes a crowd adds to the atmosphere and creates a kind of buzz. Not here. Then the food. I assume the cheaper price tag is what draws folks here as it was very crowded. The fish (flounder and yellowtail snapper) were both overcooked. The french onion soup was lacking in flavor. While we did not intend to do the dinner deal for $36 thats what was given us. It worked out to be a few bucks more than what it would have been individually but at that stage we just wanted to leave. Total time for our dinner was an hour. Normally we would have felt rushed and disappointed but we both just wanted to get home. We will spend a bit more and go to Kathy's Gazebo or Maison Nouvelle. While they cost more the service and quality of the food is worth the difference. Doubt we go back. read more

Was very disappointed with Le Rivage. Most restaurants list a brief description of a dish on the menu, not here. Therefore, I asked for a description of " Chicken Forestiere". The extremely condescending server told me that means Chicken Forest. Excusez moi, but I never knew chickens came from the forest. She finally said the mushroom sauce on it was from "the forest". I don't know where it came from but it was sliced chicken that was so tough and chewy that it was literally inedible. Didn't even ask for something else, because server was so patronizing. Also it was quite warm in restaurant; asked if they could put on their ceiling fans or AC. All in my party felt warm. It never got cooler. I had the prix fix menu - started with escargot - very tasty just the right amount of garlic followed by a small house salad which was okay, main dish Veal Medallions was really good, yes I agree about the lack of salt - but they have salt shakers on the table. One of our favorites! We go there every time we are in FL and drive up from North Miami Beach! We enjoy their prix fixe - I like the Scottish salmon or scallops, friends love their escargot and duck with lots of cherry sauce. The onion soup is the Best! Every meal comes with a simple but delicious salad. Each dinner comes with a portion of carrot soufflé, spinach soufflé, and potato soufflé. You can modify this- our friends always get 3 of the carrot. Dessert is delightful - my husband gets the peach Melba (divine), I take their orange cheesecake portion in a box for home, and our friends enjoy the creme brûlée. Dessert spoons are actually cookies. Can be crowded but usually not annoying. In a strip mall but charmingly French inside. read more
