    Absolutely a high 4 out of 5. Delicious dishes packed with flavor and quality. I went for the Laksa after seeing a video from sherryeatsworld cover the stone town location. It was such a rich bowl of curried noodles, two healthy portions of prawn, soaked tofu (went super well with the basil and lemon -- YUM) and I could go on. I would definitely go back to try a couple more of the dishes but honestly could even just keep eating this dish. It was so good. I think I might have to get a couple more reps in this dish before trying other things, but the menu is super expensive and I can't wait to go back. Check it out! Oh also service was super prompt and genuinely no complaints there really kind too. Interior is not bad by any means nor exceptional but that's fine, eat your noodles and dip around clement--lots of shopping nearby!

    We had a wonderful dining experience at Le Soleil. The food was beautifully presented, creative, and full of flavor. Every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared, and the seafood was especially fresh and delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff made us feel very welcome throughout the meal. Highly recommend!

    Celebrating with my Mother for mother's day and my sister's family, we decided to take our mom to Le Soleil and it did not disappoint! My expectations were blown away, service was great and our waiter Evan(I'm sorry if that wasn't correct) was super helpful and attentive and making sure we get all that we need and even warning us about portion sizes because the amount was already large enough that I can appreciate in a server who is looking out for the customers. Food was to the moon levels of quality, our favorite was the Garlic crab over noodles and it was delicious that we ordered another! Make the right call and come here for a fusion of Vietnamese and french cuisine, you won't regret it. \(^0^)/

    Five Spice Chicken With Garlic Noodle

    Food Rating: 8 Price: 9.5 Ambiance/Service: 10 Overall Rating: 9.17 This is probably one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants I've been to! I'll definitely go again just to order my favorite dishes. The service was quick, and the inside felt warm and homey they were super accommodating for our large group. Imperial rolls - $13 Rating (8.5/10) I really enjoyed this dish. I think the lettuce needs to be smaller in size. BBQ Pork Spring Rolls - $13 Rating (6/10) The ingredients inside were well flavored and ratio was good. I really did not enjoy that the rolls were double wrapped with rice paper, which made the roll too chewy. Crispy Calamari - $20 Rating (7/10) The flavor was solid, but it wasn't quite crispy enough. A lighter batter and maybe a touch more spice would help balance the slight fishiness of the squid Garlic noodles with five spice chicken - $21 Rating (5/10) The noodles weren't garlicky enough, and the chicken pieces were too thick and unevenly distributed. The chicken itself lacked distinct flavor. Curry Vegetables - $20 Rating (7.5/10) Good flavor, vegetables a little overcooked. A little oily. Good distribution of vegetables and tofu :) Curried Short Rib - $26 Rating (10/10) The beef was cooked super well and tender. The curry was rich in flavor but not overwhelming. It pairs perfectly with the garlic bread. Garlic bread - $5 Rating (10/10) Super light, crispy and flavorful. LOVE THIS BREAD. Luc lac "shaken beef" - $26 Rating (9/10) The beef was super tender and seasoned well! I loved the lemon pepper dipping sauce it cuts out all the fattiness. One point off because the meat could have been a fresher cut there was a light flavor. Quail - $11 Rating (9/10) The quail was super flavorful! The tableside flame presentation added a fun touch, and the fresh lemon pepper sauce was the perfect complement.

    Came here during lunch on a Friday. Hostess recommended the special which was the Hainanese chicken rice. It was delicious. Highly recommend. You can ask for it to be de-boned. $23.00.

    It's been maybe 10 years since I was last here. Arrived at around 7pm on Friday and it was busy. Reservations are probably highly recommended as there were many large parties. Started with the Imperial Rolls - served hot. The chicken lollipops were also hot and crispy - hubs loves his chicken wings and he enjoyed these. The garlic crab was served with garlic noodles stir fried with the crab roe. Hubs enjoyed this dish as well. It was busy but we were checked on often. Looks like they have Haianese chicken on Fridays - quite a few tables ordered it and it looked good. Good reason to return to try next time.

    Even though it hasn't been around for as many years as some of the other businesses along Clement Street, I honestly cannot remember a time when Le Soleil wasn't here. In fact, my first visit actually came about before I even started Yelping! Yet, oddly enough, it took until these recent meals here for me to make my way back again. Not sure why that ended up being the case, especially since I had been wanting to come back, but the opening of their brand new spot in Stonestown seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally get this done for their original location! Almost as soon as you step inside, it's immediately apparent that Le Soleil is a lot nicer than your average Vietnamese restaurant. Rather than just your typical assortment of pho, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates, the menu covers a much wider swath of Vietnamese cuisine and even beyond (FWIW, they still have pho). Along with typical dishes like Imperial Rolls, Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad, Bun Rieu, and Bo Luc Lac (Shaken Beef), they also have more unique items, including Quail, Laksa, Curried Short Rib, Garlic Roasted Dungess Crab, Squid Ink Fried Rice, and even a few Chinese, Malaysian, and Thai dishes. -- CHICKEN & SHRIMP CREPE (Banh Xeo) with Mung Bean, Bean Sprouts, Coconut Milk, Fresh Vegetable, and Chili Nuoc Mam...$22 I've had both good and bad Banh Xeo dishes and, thankfully, this one ranks among the former. The crepe itself wasn't overly thick, which added to the crispiness, and was filled with a good amount of shrimp and chicken in it. -- LAKSA NOODLES with Tiger Prawn, Calamari, Tofu, Egg, Cucumber, Bean Sprout, Basil, Lemon, and Vermicelli Noodles...$20 I can't speak to how authentic this is, but it's no less tasty! Although I wish the noodles had a softer bite to them, I loved the seafood in this and the bit of richness in the broth. -- CRISPY NOODLES with Chicken, Shrimp, Vegetables, Egg Noodles, and Gravy...$20 Ehh...nothing special, but, to be fair, this isn't my kind of dish. The noodles were undeniably crispy and came topped with a generous amount of veggies and meat. However, this would've been better with egg noodles instead of the round vermicelli. -- IMPERIAL ROLLS - Pork, Mushroom, Carrot, Rice paper, Fresh Vegetables, and Chili Nuoc Mam...$13 Not great, but not bad either. The portion felt a little light, but I like that they included a mound of noodles as well. Also, even though the rolls tasted fine, I wish they had been crisped up a bit more (they were a little soft). -- TRADITIONAL PHO with Ribeye, Meatball, Brisket, Scallion, Onions, and Rice Noodles in a Beef Broth...$20 All in all, this was fine. As soon as they placed it down, I was excited by how much meat this had in it. Yet, at the same time, it was kind of a bummer that there didn't seem to be as much noodles in it. Plus, the broth, while flavorful, didn't have much body to it. -- CHICKEN LOLLIPOPS - Chicken Wings with a Sriracha Aioli...$14 I'm not sure if this is their most popular starter, but I can easily see why if it is! Sure, it's a little gimmicky, but each piece had a nice crunch when you bite into them. The aioli made for a nice dipping sauce as well, but the chicken was just as good on its own. -- GARLIC NOODLES WITH LEMONGRASS BEEF - Egg Noodles, Garlic, Scallion...$21 I'm conflicted on this one. In terms of flavor, this was pretty decent - the noodles were garlicky and the beef had a nice hit of lemongrass to it. On the other hand, the beef was slightly overcooked and I wish there had been more noodles. As several of my fellow Yelpers have mentioned, Le Soleil's prices do trend a bit higher, but it's still less than the likes of Gao Vietnamese Kitchen and I'd hardly call the menu "overpriced" either. Sure, a few dishes felt a little shy on value, but the taste of everything ranged from okay to great. It's just that more of them landed closer to "okay" than "great". Despite how I may not have been wowed by most of what I've had, I'd still be more than happy to come back again. Service here has been terrific each time I've been and I have a sneaky suspicion that what I've tried isn't necessarily the best that Le Soleil has to offer. In particular, their Curried Shortrib, Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab, Shaken Beef, Claypot Rice, and Basil Chicken have all caught my eye, but I'm curious about others as well. If I could, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be perfect, but since I can't, I'm rounding down since Le Soleil feels closer to that than a four for now.

    Le Soleil always knocks it out of the park. I typically couch / preface my reviews with an acknowledgement that my rating for each business is relative to the location of the business but Le Soleil needs no so preface. They are good and would be a solid 5 no matter where they are located. Our first meal here was the Hainan chicken (not pictured). We stumbled in by chance that day and learned they only serve this on Mondays and Fridays until they run out, and it's not even on the menu. Apparently, it's so good that people learn about it through word of mouth and keep returning. It was the best I've had in the Bay Area, on par with Singapore locations and Savoy in LA. I guess preparing it correctly is labor intensive, which is why they only serve a limited number of plates on two days out of the week. So good (also expensive but can be shared). Portions are generous. The other options on the menu are more reasonably priced and on par with Richmond District prices. But the quality is so much better here. I could taste the "sea" in the laksa broth (we call it 鮮味 seen mei in Cantonese), indicating they put in the time to create the broth from simmering fish bones, shellfish shells, etc. This alone is a rarity and so good. The noodles were perfectly done and the soup was chock full of squid and shrimp. Onto the claypot rice. We were impressed by the amount of shrimp and lap cheong in it. The amount of sauce was perfect. It didn't have the burnt, crispy rice on the bottom (a little disappointed about that) and also came out relatively quickly, so this is different from the traditional Hong Kong claypot dishes that some of us may be more accustomed to having. Still, a solidly delicious dish and a hit with the kid. Very clean and beautifully designed. You can bring out of town guests here if you need to impress. Even the water tastes cleaner and better here. We've never had to wait for a table here, even though the restaurant does tend to fill up.

    Service was friendly, but not very attentive. The food tasted below average and not worth the price. The drunken clams would have been very delicious if seasoned correctly, what a waste of very plumped clams because it tasted like cold nothings. I'm not sure if they had left out the vinaigrette or something.... The chicken lollipops had more batter than chicken and you get a very small piece of French bread for $6. The laksa was spicy and watery. The best was braised short ribs, which tasted like a thicker, creamier version of the laksa with alot more flavor. Other than that, Le Soleil was a disappointment for it looking so fancy from the outside.

    Cozy spot at the very start of Clement St. Small restaurant, but their service is fast and the food is delicious! Super recommend the Luc Lac Shank Beef! Super tasty, tender and an amazing flavor!

    Pineapple fried rice was mediocre

    Came here for lunch on a weekday holiday and made a reservation at noon. When we arrived, it seems like making a reservation for lunch was kind of an overkill lol not many people there. The restaurant serves up a bit more upscale Vietnamese food than your typical pho and banh mi place. We tried the following items: Lollipop chicken: 5/5, OMG so good! Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Super flavorful and it didn't really need any sauce. Do yourself a favor and get this! Quail: 5/5 A meal and a show! They brought out the quail on a plate and lit it on fire at table side, really brought out a smoky flavor. The quail itself had a nice marinade and was very flavorful. My second favorite dish of the meal. Garlic noodle with five spice duck: 3/5 its quite garlicky. The noodles broke apart too easily which might be an indication of being overcooked. The duck was lacking in flavor. Pineapple fried rice: 3/5 it was mediocre fried rice at best. The pineapples were sour, not sure if it was meant to be that sour. Chicken pho: 4/5 the broth was flavorful, I didn't try the noodle or the chicken so I can't say anything about them. But based on ten broth, I'd give it 4/5. Service was good. Overall, a satisfying meal and I'm looking forward to return!

    Clay pot rice, after we already attacked it. I love lop Chong (sausage) and there was plenty. The chicken was so tasty.

    Great food, friendly staff, great experience! Lunch with friends tried the lollipop chicken wing, papaya salad, clay pot rice and the garlic noodles with lemongrass beef. All flavorful and delicious! The salad was nicely chilled and dressed well. A flavor bomb on the tongue. The lollipop chicken was sitting g as enjoyed the salad and was so hot, crispy and crunchy. I loved the spice of the batter so much I didn't even try the aioli. The clay pot was brimming with chicken, Chinese sausage, mushroom sticks, scallion and onion sauced well so it seeps onto the rice. I want another order for myself! Food is terrific try this restaurant for yourself. I'm coming back ne t trip to SF!

    How much is the Hainan chicken? I can't find it on the menu

    In February 2023 it was $19. That's what was written on the order slip when I went. It's also limited quantity. If you go later in the day, including dinner time, it may be sold out. We were fortunate to get the last order at dinner.

    Is this the same with the one in san leandro?

As we waited, one of the server handed us a Lychee Coconut Freeze, a complimentary drink to help celebrate our anniversary. That was really sweet of them. This drink tastes like a dessert. Yummy!!! Wow, when our Phozilla came, it is huge! The lobster, beef rib, bone marrow, filet mignon and brisket was beautifully arranged in this big round bowl. Bowl is big enough to feed 4 people. We started with filling our bowl with the soup and noodle. The beef broth was flavorful with the green onions and cilantro. Next the rib was full of meat and tender. The lobster was cooked perfectly, sweet and delicious. Then dip made with butter and sweet chili elevated your taste buds. The bone marrow was savory and velvety in texture. The filet mignon melt in your mouth and the brisket was tasty and tender. It was a lot, but we devoured all the stuffings except the noodles. We had a lot of noodles left. It was just too much noodle for 2 people. Overall this was the ultimate meal. We loved it and enjoyed our dinner. The lychee at the end cleansed our palette and we left the place satisfied. This is our second time and we will be back!

But he does not give any service and just expects tip. All he does is walk around and collect money & does the very minimum. My family and I arrived about 30 minutes before closing, and the owner told us he would still serve us. After seating us, though, he immediately pressured us to order quickly and told us we had to eat fast because they were closing. I was with my elderly relatives too so just turn us away? If that was the case, it would've been better to simply not seat us. Don't be greedy just bc you want a few bucks. Another time, my husband called to order Hanoi-style pho to go, and the owner responded with unnecessary attitude, saying that's the only kind they serve. LOL, ok. The interaction felt rude for no reason. Most recently, we came on Mother's Day. The dishwasher/staff member was also unfriendly. The bun cha was decent according to my mom, and my husband said the beef stew noodle dish was okay, but my pho lacked flavor entirely. I wasn't expecting it to compare to pho in Vietnam or even San Jose, but it tasted very bland so I didn't finish it. The service from the owner continues to be the biggest issue. When we paid, he stood over us while I counted cash, so I felt pressure to count fast and add tip quickly. He left then came back a few seconds later then quickly grabbed the money without even asking whether I needed change and disappeared faster than the wind. The whole interaction felt awkward and pushy. He has a very strange personality. He's honestly very sleazy and has bad energy After several experiences like this, we won't be returning.
