It's been a long time since I've eaten here. So long that DoorDash and Uber Eats didn't even exist. The three of us arrived at 5:15pm Friday. We were seated immediately. Cups of tea were poured, and also several refills. Ordered- * hubby with #1 pho whenever it's on any menu. .* daughter grilled chicken vermicelli and imperial rolls whenever it's on the menu * me with grilled pork with garlic noodles and imperial rolls. Otherwise it's vermicelli noodles for me. The imperial rolls were cooked to order. Hot and oily. Food came in a timely manner once our orders were placed. We enjoyed what we ordered. Exception - daughter thought too much greens & not enough vermicelli noodles. While we were eating there were plenty of to go orders, both by individuals and the scooter folks. Love this spot! The five spice chicken is super juicy with the crispiest skin. The garlic noodles are delicious and come with a great nuoc cham. The service here is super fast. From ordering to receiving the food my average wait time is less than 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is small, but doesn't feel too cramped. The peanut dipping sauce was yummy. The garlic noodles were OK. Not enough garlic flavor and inquired if they could cook the noodles longer to crisp it a bit. I was told there would be an extra fee if they did that! Paired with the lemon and chilies, the broth is literally perfect on a cold day when you just need something hot. I requested their noods to be extra crispy pan fried, and they did not disappoint. So yummy! Inside there is plenty of space to sit down and eat. The gentleman that has always taken my order always makes sure everything is to my liking, and brought out at a reasonable time. High chairs offered, plastic bowl with utensils provided for the kiddo. Many different variations with different combos. A few days ago (new years day) my girlfriend and I decided to eat in and wanted to get some pho. Our usual spot (Yummy Yummy on Irving) was not available so we opted to try something new. For our meal my girlfriend got a side of Garlic noodles, I got the Combo Pho and we shared an order of veggie fresh rolls. Food arrived and we started to dig in. * Pho - This was my first time getting takeout pho and it worked out better than expected. The Meats were in decent condition and tasted good but the broth was lackluster. Definitely needed a lot of doctoring and even then something was missing a little bit. Not disappointed though, just not my preference. * Garlic Noodles - The quantity for a side of Garlic Noodles was pretty generous. Taste wise (according to my girlfriend) they were good but not anything of note / exceptional * Fresh Rolls - I actually liked these a good amount. They were extremely light and refreshing. This may not be for you if you are looking for a heavier appetizer (my girlfriend didn't care for these as much) All in all, Perilla serves some decent Vietnamese food but I think there are some better options, especially for Pho, in the area. We walked in to Perilla on a Saturday during lunch, and were seated right away. I came in already knowing I wanted the Five Spice Chicken with garlic noodles and imperial rolls (#27) since it seemed like the most popular dish. My boyfriend got the Charbroiled beef with garlic noodles and imperial rolls (#24) with an extra order of beef. Our meal was super filling and balanced! They don't skimp out on either the noodles or the protein (definitely could have done without the extra beef we ordered). The chicken was juicy but the skin stayed crispy. The charbroiled beef had the smallest hint of sweetness for me. The noodles had a nice chew to them, and were dry but in the best way possible. A lot of garlic noodles tend to be too oily and leave an unpleasant lingering mouthfeel, but that wasn't the case here. The noodles could have used more garlic for my preference, but I think it was well balanced with the flavorful protein and fish sauce. The imperial rolls were okay and a nice crunchy side. I wouldn't get them as a separate appetizer, but only $1 more to add to your dish is unbeatable. I absolutely hate parking in this area. Circling the streets forever to find parking here is the worse thing there. The Food and the service on the other hand, amazing!
