This is a charming gift shop that has become a wonderful cafe. Try the chicken with pomegranate and the homemade hummus. We had never tried Syrian food before and now we are hooked. We also bought some unique coffee cups for us and some beautiful decorated glasses as a gift for a friend. The cups are meant for tea but perfect for an aperitif as well. Always passed by this place for a few years now wanting to try it. We have two very young children and it just didn't seem like it would go will over there. However, today we decided to order in and try Le Souk. Baba Ganoush (the best I've ever had, so much flavor and smoke and not too heavy on the pasty tahini) Hummus, a few sandwiches, a salad, and dessert. Fantastic! My kids loved it too. Everything was carefully packed and perfect. You can tell by the attention to detail that this restaurant does it right. Great job! So glad I finally tried it. Le Souk is a wonderful addition to the Montclair restaurant scene. We have only been there a few times, but it is so good. The Pomegranate Chicken is excellent. The Muhamarra and Baba Ganoush are the best I've ever had. Inside is beautifully decorated, but outside is remarkably calm (for being by a road) and nice. The food is fresh, service is good. A gem of a little place with fresh, homemade Syrian food that is so flavorful, beautifully presented and so delicious.

We had a family gathering for twenty people at Le Souk. The food was healthy and delicious, especially the freekah and meat dish! I also had the best babaganoush I've ever had there. They were also able to accommodate our families request for Halal chicken/beef. The space is cozy and the restaurant was very accommodating. Be sure to try the pomegranate tea and baklava as well. Jumana is a wonderful and generous chef. The traditional Syrian food is delicious and not something you would typically try. The food is packed with many flavors and looks even more beautiful than the restaurant itself, which is saying a lot. So I've been here a few times. There was this awesome guy who worked there that had a special touch with the tea/food. The tea was amazing and the service was always excellent. Then one day, he was not there anymore. I went back and the tea and food just didn't have the same taste. Everything was different. We came to eat at Le Souk a couple of weeks ago and LOVED the food. My husband is Syrian and we met in Syria so we were eager to give this place a try. The inside is small and the decor give this place a very homey feel. The food the owner, Joumana, prepared was fantastic. Try the Babaganoush and the pomegranate chicken was my absolute favorite. Lunch is lovely here - mediterranean tapas in a small cozy location that's decorated like a market ('souk'). Beet salad with labneh, sauteed dandelion greens, homemade hummous and pita, it was all delicious and reasonably priced. The proprietor can do dinner to special order, so we came back a few days later and had a fixed-price dinner (BYOB). The staff was very nice, the atmosphere was fun. The labneh and baklava were lovely. The rest was mediocre. The falafel waffle was okay but needed more sauce. The eggplant fatteh was bland and lukewarm but it was served after my son had almost finished his dish (I think they forgot to serve it.) What a charming and wonderful cafe/market! Jumana is a superb cook, making the most delicious Mediterranean/Syrian items. My daughter and I had lunch on her birthday, and were wowed-we couldn't have been happier. Babaganouj, beet salad, spinach feta pastries, eggplant sandwich (not your grandmother's sandwich!) and more all were superbly made and elegantly served.
