I signed up for Le Tote and Rent the Runway after an allergy cleaned out our closets. Rent the Runway was easy to use, I loved my items, created my box, set up the shipping, and I was done. I made the mistake of not fully understanding Le Tote's set up. I paid the membership fee, loved my items and then... nothing. I wasn't able to set up or create a tote. I was essentially paying for a day that nothing was happening because it doesn't seem like they have customer service on the weekend. Which means eight days out of the month my online account will be useless. I requested a refund and to cancel my membership and both were approved. read more

I selected 4 pieces just to try it out, but the status of my box remained at the "preparing" step for weeks. I went on their website to determine how to cancel, which directs you to another webpage that then says they are no longer providing customer service support for Letote. After exhausting every avenue, the only way to get a hold of the company is to email "hi@letote.com" and ask for the service to be canceled. I have sent many emails over the last few months requesting this, with no answer. I also contacted the Better Business Bureau to intervene and they also received no response. After this, I looked online and found that this is happening to many people. I am still be charged $86 per month by the company. I've been a member for almost EIGHT years. Like others, this year I have had rediculous delays in shipping. The latest is THREE WEEKS since my tote was confirmed. Zero reponses from the Chat room OR Customer Service. Agree with all those here saying we're cancelling! I've cancelled this subscription on June 11, 2018 and continue to get billed every month. I've "cancelled" this service FOUR TIMES NOW and dealt with multiple incompetent workers in doing so. Do not sign up. Unable to cancel subscription. If you don't choose a tote they are supposed to send you one with what they think you will like, they don't even do that now. They just keep billing you and won't send you a tote at all. Tried emailing them, calling them, using chat function to cancel and no response. Multiple other uses have had the same issue. I finally called my bank and put a stop to the billing. Thankfully didn't have to cancel my credit card. If anyone is considering signing up with them, I strongly suggest you do your research on this company and read the countless comments, reviews, and lawsuits outlining their shady business practices. I asked to cancel my subscription but they continue to charge me month after month after month. I've been a monthly subscriber to Le Tote off and on for 7-8 years and until recently was happy with the shipping time, selection, and customer service. This year, three of my totes have had a shipping delay. With the first two delays I was able to email customer service to resolve the problem and have my monthly payment delayed. Today I have a tote that's been stuck in processing for 19 days and have no way to resolve it, because the company has silently deprecated customer support by blocking every way to get in touch with them. This means they are now charging subscribers while delivering no service and offering no communication. UPDATE 01.20.2020: I am writing an update after having canceled their service. Canceling was the worst experience! First off, it took 2 months to cancel! I had first inquired immediately after my monthly payment, in which they "held my account" during this inquiry, meaning they charged my fee but didn't provide any service! I was very mad about this and after complaining, they agreed to extend my service for the amount of time my account was held. They then forgot they agreed upon this, charged my monthly fee again, and still canceled it immediately after my fee, then didn't refund my money until after I complained again! During my last tote, they charged me for items I didn't buy (this happens often and you have to keep on top of them), and I wanted to buy a dress I loved, but unfortunately had a snag. I reported this, which they agreed if I were to order the dress again they would honor my tote's discounted price. This was a back and forth process of multiple emails as well, but I eventually did order a new dress and they did honor the price. Much to my dismay, however, when the dress eventually came, it was the SAME DRESS with the SAME SNAG! This shows you 2 things: 1) they recirculate items customers report as needing repair, and 2) if you buy "new" clothes from them, they are NOT new. At this point in time I am so tired of dealing with them. I don't want to waste any more time with their customer service, which I emailed 20+ times during this cancelation process. Really disappointing. I paid up front for a Tote but was so bummed by the limited selection in my size (6/8, not a rare size by any means!). I did the best I could to swap in things I liked, but the selection was really lousy and my first tote was such a disappointment--only one item fit and was actually pretty and high-quality. I contacted customer service and got a bunch of copy-and-paste answers that didn't address my issue; the guy handling my issue clearly wasn't reading my messages. So I asked to cancel and he demanded the immediate return of my items, even though there were 3 weeks left in my month! So basically I paid a month's fees for nothing. Yikes. EDIT: Liz below claims that I have to return my tote ASAP so my fee can be refunded, but customer service made it very clear that my money is gone and customers who cancel early in the month get no money back. They also said that if I don't return the items immediately they will charge me over $300; there is no option to "get the most out of my membership" before the cancellation takes effect. They make you jump through hoops to cancel your account. There is no way to cancel your account online, you have to send an email and wait for a response. I sent an email 5 days ago and still, the account has not been canceled. I got a notification today to customize my upcoming Tote that is set to be shipped tomorrow. Had the cancelation process been more seamless, I may have considered trying Le Tote again in the future, but to try to drag out the cancellation process just to be able to charge me again for a Tote I do not want and specifically asked not to have sent is deceptive and bad business practice. I like to wear fashionable clothing, but I don't like to have to constantly purchase new items that may be a fleeting fad or that I will only like for one season. Le Tote helps me to always have something new to wear and not have to worry about an overwhelming amount of clothing in my closet. I signed up for the service a couple of months ago and have since enjoyed several totes, each with items selected for me as well as some that I have personally selected from available options. I have yet to be disappointed in anything I have received. Some things that I love about the service: * I can try something bold that I wouldn't want to purchase in a store. * I get to see what's in current style and not have to do much research on my own. * I don't have to set foot in a store. Ever. Some things I'd like to see change: * More selection. Although my "closet" has a lot of items, sometimes when I try to swap out my selection for other pieces, the options are limited. * More variety in accessories. I do love the scarves, but some of the jewelry is just plain....not me. Overall, it's a wonderful service that I have referred several of my friends to. They verified to me to 1.9.19 was the last time they added something, and they seemed like that was helpful and they were doing me a favor which was even more insulting. It was something like "We added a great piece on 1.9!" and even THAT was the first piece that had been added in weeks. DO NOT USE LE TOTE. The clothes aren't shrunk. They don't MEASURE them. Update: 18 totes later I am still loving it. It really just switches up your wardrobe and add something new. Though a lot in my closet I've never been able to get through tote due to availability - I can always find something/fun for the next tote. Love the customer service and fast shipping. Great biz model! I am new. i must say i love this concept where i don't want to own any more pieces. i have enough clothes but still sometimes want to switch it up, add something new, especially accessories. The only thing i don't like is i have to return everything in order to get a new tote though i like to hold on to certain pieces. with that said, my first tote was a success all the pieces fit, and i was satisfied. the shipping is 2 day - very fast! a plus! this morning i just dropped off the first tote and had USPS scan it, and my second tote was ready for my review within like 2 hours, and i was able to swap for what i wanted. i will come back with an update after I'm done my 3rd or 4th tote and see how it goes. read more

I am honestly surprised by some of the reviews for Le Tote. I absolutely love the concept because I hate shopping, but I love to feel good in a new outfit for me. I also love that it's not wasting space nor money, depending on what you get. I have several events for work and membership activities that would run me hundreds of dollars. Instead, I just order and send it back. The best strategy is plan out your week with the outfits. Go ahead and wear everything by Saturday and drop the tote off before the post office closes. On the next tote, pick more weekend wear. This way, you will have it by the time your tote comes. Yes, sometimes I've gotten bummers. But, I immediately email them and they ALWAYS take care of me quickly. I also make sure that my closet is constantly updated so that I can switch out what I want. I don't usually leave reviews but I felt that this experience warranted a public response. I accidentally purchased four maternity items in early May 2023 thinking that I was selecting my items for my box. I had used Le Tote in the past and it was intuitive and easy to use then so when I mistakenly purchased 4 items totaling about $270 I was upset. I had no way of creating my tote after paying so I figured that was the way to do it. I immediately messaged the company saying I would like to refund them and was told that I could and would receive a full refund. After 35 days of dealing with sending the order back, tracking it, and waiting for it to be processed I then received a message saying that I would be getting $2-$4 for each piece refunded, that didn't even cover the return shipping. Even if I wasn't able to get a refund, they should have said that up front and I would have kept the clothes. In late June, I was told that they will issue the full refund but it is now early July and I still haven't seen the refund. It takes on average 4-6 business days to get any sort of response back from customer service. This has been the most frustrating experience I've had in a really long time. I can't imagine how they are still in business. read more

A previously AMAZING service that has gone downhill in the last 6 months. I am REALLY hoping they are simply experiencing growing pains and will return to the fantastic dream they used to be. My poor rating is because of the consistently bad customer service, not the clothes, which are typically nice and fit well. In general, the clothes are great and I get lots of compliments. I have NEVER had an issue with the clothes smelling bad or being dirty. In an attempt to be more environmentally conscious, they began mailing totes in cardboard boxes instead of bags around 2015. An unintended consequence of this is that sometimes, on rainy days, the items in my tote are completely soaked. I wonder if this may be related to the complaints of smelly clothes. I have been a LeTote member for several years, since they first began. I loved it so much, I have TWO accounts. There have been many service and policy changes over the years and originally, my level of service was grandfathered in. I understand the increase in cost, but the real problems began when they stopped answering the phone in San Francisco and outsourced to an Indian call center. The previous team was always friendly and helpful. At no fault of their own, the current reps are not aware of my account or policies and I do not get help. For example, LeTote stopped supporting the online management of two accounts. I have to email or call to activate or hold. No problem at first, but then they stopped allowing members to have two accounts. Every time I call or email to pause or activate my account, I am told that I don't have a second account because they don't support it. I have truly received emails that says "you do not have two accounts." Well, I am still paying for TWO accounts. This may not seem like a big deal, but it takes days to make changes, often days I am paying for the service. Holding and reactivating my account requires an email, 2-3 phone calls and several days and cannot be done online. The account that everyone agrees I have can be paused online, but not reactivated. I asked if I could use a second email to help with the confusion and was told that any changes would mean I would have the new account which is only one tote a month. I currently have UNLIMITED totes. In June, one of my many attempts to use the service was escalated in customer service. Someone FINALLY called while I was in the TSA line at the airport, just about to walk through the metal detector. I asked her to call back in 5 min and she never did. I later received an email saying they tried to help but could not reach me. Now it is the end of Oct and I still have not received assistance. Somebody from LeTote seems to be responding to these reviews, but customer service has continuously ignored my concerns. I will continue the service because most of the time the fight is worth it because I still have the unlimited service and the totes come quickly. Often, I get my next tote set up the day I put my last tote in the mail. I get seasonal clothes, clothes for different occasions, and different sizes as I have lost a significant amount of weight. Because I still have the unlimited plan, this much more economical than buying new clothes, especially business stuff that doesn't fit my personal style. I can't imagine being a NEW customer and getting one tote a month and not being able to get help from customer service. With the unlimited plan, if I don't like my tote, I can send it back immediately and get something new in a few days. The thought of keeping these items for an entire month is an absolute joke and not worth the money. My wardrobe needs differ frequently. It is also silly because the included dry cleaning is part of the service. If customers are keeping the items for an entire month, they are likely washing at home and the items will not hold up. Finally, this means that a piece is in someone's possession an entire month and not available to other members! I really hope they take these reviews seriously because I know this service can be amazing like it used to be. read more

I signed up recently, got my first tote, and did not wear a single thing that came in it. The quality, the look and the fit of the actual items were really far off. The automatically selected items are mostly garbage, have nothing to do with your style or preferences. Then I, of course, swapped the items that were automatically selected for me for other items of my choice. However, the selection sucks. They have a couple of nice brands, like Tahari and Juicy Couture, but even those styles are not the best. The rest of the brands I have never heard of. Professional clothing selection is really limited, the styles are awkward, and a lot of them look cheap. I just returned my first tote and waiting for my second one. Well...I am sure this review will somehow get pushed down to the bottom. I truly wish the default for yelp was chronological reviews. I signed up for Le Tote on 9/20. I received my first box on 9/23. The items okay. The issue I have is that there is a smell, like other have noted, I figured it was because they were boxes up so I hung them to air out. I tried on all of the clothes, of the 10 clothing items I received only one item fit. The others were either too big or too small. I emailed the company and explained my concerns. They told me the fit would to figured out the more often I receive totes. Okay, so I send my tote back thinking I will get another, because I thought that "one tote a month" meant one at at time. All the reviews I read online said that you can receive multiple totes. The website was not help, you would think "How many totes will I receive?" would be a question in their customer service section. It is not, and their is no specific mention of the "unlimited" totes being discontinued. Even when I look at my membership options, I have the choice of Classic or Maternity. There is no mention, that I have found, on their site that offers "Unlimited". I wasted $72. I am glad I had a coupon for 15% off. I am a college student and I signed up for this membership because I have professional field internships and limited professional clothing. Used to love La Tote. I'd get 2-3 totes a month. Sometimes I would like an item or two, but the other 6 items would make up for it. I'd wear them and send them back, then pick out my next tote. The price WAS reasonable for what you got. Then, I canceled the membership because I knew I couldn't afford it for several months and got tired of going online to put the membership on hold. Little did I know, my normal membership was going to become a "legacy membership" and from then on new customers who signed up reactivated their membership after cancellation would pay the same price and get only ONE tote a month. So basically, new customers/customers who signup again now pay the same amount for 1/3 of the original product. This is crazy. While La Tote items can be nice, they are used. Not to mention, it's a bit of a gamble as to whether the items will actually fit well. They do offer casual to date night style dresses, but the majority of the clothes range from casual to business casual. With that said, spending an average of $10 to rent each item each item in the tote and only getting one tote each month is absurd. Sorry La Tote, but this was a bad business decision. I'm not willing to pay $10 an item to rent such things as a shirt. I'll switch to Rent the Runaway to rent a couple much nicer items each month if I'm going to be spending $80 for one tote. read more

And the whole box stunk, I rewashed everything and hung the sweater wish arrived cropped and boxy; AFTER WASHING, it was once again tunic length and SMELLED FRESH. I considered buying a pair of jeans but to pay 52$ vs retail at $60 for a used clothing item was not worth it to me...Nordstrom rack has many of these same items for less money for NEW clothing AND they offer returns. Your billing date is not when your box ships but when you sign up...therefore, I returned box on the tenth and USPS did not scan until the 13 (big city Chicago). I immediately chose my new tote and it will arrive today. You are eseentially PAYING for 3WEEKS of wear time. I am A CPA ACCOUNTANT...In addition, you are charged sales tax which is NOT THE LAW...this is a service, not a consumable and I don't receive the sales tax credit when my box is returned but if I purchased, they would again charge me sales tax for the same item! There will be a class action suit about this I am certain. You must allow your box to be received by Le Tote 3 DAYS BEFORE the billing date! You should be able to keep an item if you want to rent another week, instead I only have my rented pants for a total of 6 weeks vs. 2 MONTHS worth. Felt like a bait and switch! I this out on a friends recommendation. It was presented to me as a subscription service that sends you used clothes, you wear the clothing items and they ship you new ones as soon as you send them back as many times as you can for a monthly fee. I love stitch fix and I love clothes so I was super excited to try this out. First thing I noticed when signing up is it seemed more expensive than what I was told it costs by my friend and when I was selecting my plan/subscription they had different tote sizes for the month. This gave me pause, since I was told you get one tote and keep sending it back, so I checked out the FAQs, since I was not interested unless I could get multiple totes a month. (The price did not seem to offer much value if I could not return and get new ones). I found several articles online and a "how this works" page that I thought was ran by Le Tote. In every single one it says wear the items, mail back the tote and you get a new tote as soon as it is scanned at the post office. So I went for it and got my first tote. I had to exchange clothes out since their recommended items were not at all my style or size. Even with my customizing my first tote was awful. Some of the items had lost their shape and looked nothing like the photo and were unwearable. The jewelry was cheap, and everything smelled musty like it had been put away damp or been sweated in. I could only wear 3 pieces from this box. The inserts talked about exchanging your tote as many times as you want so I shrugged it off, wore what I could the day after I got it and shipped it back the next day, ready to try again and maybe get some items that I liked/looked like the photos. 3 days later I got notification saying they had received my tote and I could order my next tote in 3 weeks. I was appalled since I had just paid 40 dollar per piece for items I wore for one day. I went to the app and even the app implies I should send my tote back to get the most out of my monthly subscription (I attached the picture). When I called I was told they do not offer unlimited anymore and I only get the one tote a month. I felt like I fell victim to a bait and switch. It seems maybe it was a good service and value at one time, but it does not seem to be the case anymore. I would have never signed up if it had been clear. I did call and discontinue my service after I was told they no longer allow you to sign up for unlimited. I made sure they were aware their marking material states that you can exchange the totes as often as you want throughout the month. I did ask for them to refund my first tire since I only kept it a couple days and virtually nothing was wearable. I had to talk to 3 people to accomplish that. I was told several times that they were sorry "you misunderstood what you were signing up for" (yeah because that's what you advertise and still publish!) In reading some of these other reviews I am going to keep a close eye on if they actually return my money or charge my account again. Overall, for me, it was a bad value and the quality of clothes did not meet my expectations. It was very expensive for getting a handful of items you don't get to keep and you probably won't want to wear. I have been a customer for over 2 years, and while not all my totes have been winners, I have always had amazingly fast and appropriate customer service - use the app ladies! and the totes (for the most part) ship quickly and correctly. There have been a few questionable costs for items - for example a pair of pants I loved was $106 in the tote, but I purchased the exact pair on Amazon for $17 (yeah, not thrilled to find that out, but it was the only time I have seen that happen) And being a petite woman, there are for sure some struggles with fit, but to be expected. read more

You have to go through their service department so they can try to convince you to not cancel. Personally I hate that tactic and if I was even on the fence before, I'm DEFINITELY cancelling now. So they emailed me back, finally that my account was cancelled. Then I start getting emails like, "pick your next tote contents before it's too late!", and "your next tote will be on its way soon!", so I email them AGAIN to cancel. I am assured (on May 5th) that my account is cancelled, and they're sorry. Then, on May 6th I get charged. This is fraud and theft. But I was gradually priced out of the program. When I started with LeTote it was affordable at about $40/month. Then they reduced the number of items I could get in each shipment for that price. Most recently, the monthly cost was raised to $69, nearly double what it was when I started the program. I'm disappointed to have had the subscription curve rise so steeply, but the services and sales I did like. read more

I received a gift card to try this company out. I signed up and my credit card was charged immediately. I was told I was not able to use my gift card on discounted subscription (which applies to the first month or two). Then I got my first box of clothes and wanted to use my gift card to buy one of the dresses. Again, my credit card was charged. I was told I was not able to use the gift card on purchases. The next month, my gift card was partially used, and my credit card was still charged. I was only able to get one month of clothes and have been charged for a dress and two months of subscription so far. Communication has been terrible, over a week to receive a reply. There aren't enough stars for how much I love my LeTote subscription. I worry a lot that one day they'll cease to exist and my life would never be the same again. Style is super important to me so having new clothes to wear makes it even easier to be stylish. I get to try out things that I may not purchase or things that are really loud so I'd only want to wear them once. The delivery is easy because it's via USPS so the tracking is great and they can get into my building. It's also so easy to return the package using the prepaid bag and just dropping it off on the post office counter. The clothes are of great quality. I like when other users upload their photos so I can see what they look like in real life. read more

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!! You Will Regret It. I have emailed them on 4 separate occasions to end my subscription since September 2017. My emails keep getting forwarded to different people and to this day they still keep charging my credit card. They say that my request somehow "fell through the cracks" and although they do refund me the amount, I really don't want to deal with asking for a refund EACH AND EVERY MONTH. I'll update this post in the event they stop charging my credit card. If I haven't updated, you'll know I'm still dealing with this crap. January 2018: it has been resolved. read more

Best clothing service I've used! I have tried several, but settled on Le Tote and only use Le Tote for nearly 3 years. It's had some changes and growth but easily was able to navigate those changes. Pros: 1. It works with my changing sizes. I start with Le Tote as an XL and now a small. Love that I didn't purchase items through the transitions and was able to wear the same favorites in my new sizes. 2. Great for travel! I used to travel a lot for work. I've had totes sent to the hotel and when I'm ready to leave, I give to the hotel clerk to mail back. Super easy and never had a problem. Just remember to change the address for the next Tote. 3. Great for trends and staple pieces. Honestly, I don't have time to shop. I have 5 kids and a full time business as well as an active running "hobby". I typically end up purchasing a few staples, but love the fact I can try on trends I would never think to try and explore fun clothes without commitment. 4. Customer service!!! Seriously! I don't get what others are having a problem with. In three years! I've been so happy with CS. I literally have had 3 questionable issues and contacted CS and they remedied the issues right away, apologized and gave me a credit as well as extra days for being "toteless" for a couple of days. I'm never rude when I call, and I think that adds to the positive experience. I've been in customer service and understand that they are not the actual person who may have caused or made the mistake. They are humans. Be kind! 5. I get quick turn around. Only real issues I've experienced are with USPS having glitches, but I get my totes within 2 days. Le Tote is transparent in their sight and actually states customization can take up to 48 hours so I think it still fast. 6. Budget!! My clothing and accessories budget is now under control and I have access to so many fun items. Give it a shot! Play around with it. It's like Netflix for clothes. I've had as many as 6 totes in a month and have chosen to keep totes longer for special event reasons. Don't write it off after a couple of totes, get a feel for,it and there is a great FB group that share more info on how to better use it. Enjoy! read more

Pros: Most items are of good quality A lot to choose from You can customize your tote If you'd like to put your account on hold, you can for up to two months Cons: Each "styled" tote was not anything I liked Unknown brands Slow customer service response Slow shipping, if I placed an order on a Friday, I wouldn't get my tote until at least Tuesday/Wednesday Some items looked WAY better online, so I didn't wear a lot of the clothing I was sent Clothing items are pretty expensive if you want to keep them read more

I have been a customer for quite some time. The clothing is mediocre, but I stuck with it because every so often I would find something I liked. Their app and website were easy to use. Be careful of their sales, I tried to purchase 5 items for $80 and they ended up charging me over $200. They said it was all my fault and because the sale was final there was nothing they could do. Super poor customer service. I would not recommend this site. read more
