Greg walked us through the tasting, he was very knowledgable about the wines and why they went so well with the cheeses. By the time we finished it was noon and we were pleased to find out they have panini sandwiches so we ordered two and bought a bottle of wine and say on the patio. This is a hidden gem just east of Paso Robles off of Hwy 46. My wife and I have been going there for wine tasting and lunch (served Sat & Sun only) for the past 2 years. They only charge minimal amount for tasting ($10) for very good wines, and you can pair with gourmet cheeses for $5. Our recent visit was to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Wine steward Pat had prepared a special table for us with a personal card and an orchid, which is one of my wife's favorite flowers. Chef Walter's vegetable pizza, baby green salad with calamari, and stuffed puff pastry accompanied by Carponata were delicioso and made with fresh ingredients. Good wine at a range of prices a bit off the beaten track. They also offer a popular cheese pairing for $15 - I stuck with just the wine at $10 for five pours (waived with 2 bottle purchase). I dropped in late on a Tuesday and had the counter to myself, though the friendly gentleman pouring explained they can get quite slammed at peak hours. My wife and I drove from Lockeford, ca on Saturday 6/3/17 to attend their wine pickup party. They served a very tasty meal, each different item had its own flavor. The bread on the Kobe sliders had it's own wood smoke flavor, the ribs were better than many BBQ restaurants. They offered 3 different wines with lunch. Dessert and coffee was also served. The other attendees were mostly locals, however friendly and sociable. After the party and social time, we picked up our package of wines, cheese, and sweets. This place was really cool. They provided chocolates to accompany the wines. I'm not sure if they always do this, but it was great. The attendants are friendly and helpful. However, they were unable to help me locate a Mexican seafood restaurant in the area. Everyone was very White. The Le Vigne labeled wine is pretty good. Haven't found much of the Kiara that appealed to me, especially compared to the Le Vigne. Prices are fair, especially good when they have sales, and lots of people enjoy the cheese or chocolate pairing. We used to belong to their wine club and were pleased with almost everything they sent us, and the little gift that came with the shipment was always generous. BUT we quit the wine club after driving all the way up there from Orange County for a pick up party and were told we couldn't do a wine tasting! Well, that's not exactly accurate - we could taste the wine but we'd have to pay for the tasting (normally free for wine club members). I don't know what their reasoning was, but it was disappointing and maddening to be right there at the winery after over a year and not be able to taste (OK, too stubborn to pay). Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to tell them why I was quitting. They didn't even ask. I'd say it's worth a try if you're out on the east side, the staff is very friendly and they have artisan food products for sale, including some remarkable cheeses. read more

Beautiful grounds. Angie, our server was very helpful and informative. My wife and I shared the Decadent chocolate tasting. The sparkling wine was delicious. Not too dry and yet not too sweet. It really paired nicely with the dark chocolate with sea salt. The Muscat was also delicious. It was paired with a white chocolate with a hint of orange and chili pepper. Believe it or not, it was delicious. My favorite was the Zinfindel. The Cab was a bit weak for me. I liked the Meritage also , but the Zinfindel was a winner. Fruity with a nice peppery finish. The Yelp check in gave us 15% discount off wines, exclude cheeses. We each got the Blanc and their blend and the truffle Gouda cheese. Felt awful for not leaving a tip. The cheese made the wine, that's what made it taste so good. I think without the cheese it might have been a whole different story. Extra stars for the queso. They also had some nice chocolates to sample, which were okay but nowhere near as fantastic as the cheese. Their small gourmet deli offers the cheeses that we sampled, as well as some fancy salamis. This was the first stop on our way through Paso Robles and worth the stop. Our pourer was new, just two days on the job, she did all right but nothing spectacular in terms about taking about the winery. But that's cool, I just wanted to enjoy the tasting. A bottle of Chardonnay and Merlot were bought. Old school 3 car train sitting in the back, piece of Americana, worth the stop. It made me think of Cary Grant in North by Northwest. read more

STOP #2 of the Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival Weekend 2010 - Tasting room hours: 11 AM to 5 PM in the winter 11 AM to 6 PM in the summer - Free tastings. - $5 tastings of their limited production wines (Domenico label) First off you have to know where this place is (or at least pay more attention to your Map Quest directions) - we got lost passing the small sign. The Mediterranean tiled tasting room building seemed beautiful enough and inside we saw an airy, bright room bustling with activity. They had a deli case off to one side showcasing the cheese this winery is known for. The crowd was older here, with grandparents making the biggest demographic. My friend and I were definitely the youngest ones here. And while we were contemplating cutting through the 2 deep crowd at the tasting counters, I followed my bloodhound nose to the back where a young college co-ed stopped me and asked, "Would you like some ribs?" I paused as if this were a trick question. I nearly shouted, "SURE." Granted the ribs and sausages were served just for this special weekend but they were amazing. They were so good that my friend and I ended up just eating. We had a busy schedule of wineries to hit so we agreed to try their wines another time. Later on in the day would we try some of their wines. The Kiara Zinfandel (about $19.99) was a bit sweet, simple, and tasted of raspberries. Okay but not quite up to par with the other Zins in the area. Still, one of the associates gave my friend a reusable Sylvester wine bag and she said if we wanted to buy their wines we'd get 10% off just by showing the bag. Tips: - Try their $5 wine and chocolate or wine and cheese pairing. - They do have some fun events for the wine club. Lavigne was recommended to us by an employee at the prior winery we were at. Out of all the six we went to this was my least favorite of them all. If it weren't for their great selection of cheese I probably would've given this place a 2 star. The ambiance was good, the wine was Ok. However their selection of cheese was Amazing. They had one of the best brie I've had thus far. Unfortunately I didn't get to buy some to take home, because it wasn't until we took off that I found out that they actually give you a little travelling cooler to keep the cheese cool as you travel.
