My friend and i had a nice brunch on our weekend in Williamsburg. The fixed price three course meal was delicious. We started with soups:french onion and lentil. Both delicious, french onion tasted much better than it looked (no crusty bread/melted cheese on top?), but we did prefer the lentil. We then had the scallops and the steak. Very tasty and rich and we were happy to have those suggested to us by our server. There's always room for dessert and we had the apple tart and the chocolate fondant cake. We were so full by the end of this, but it was all good and well served. The place was pretty busy and it was quite nice inside. Definitely a good experience, I would recommend it if youre hungry and want a nice and fancy meal, but I dont think I'd go for the fixed price brunch again, maybe to try for dinner. read more

I want to say I love this restaurant and they made up for the meal on Thanksgiving. It was extremely busy that day and that is the only time I have been disappointed with them. Le yaca French 75 cocktail- just ok, the lemon peel kept creeping up the side of the glass and interfering with my sip which was not enjoyable. Ruby red cocktail- a recommendation from our server. delicious color, nice taste. I loved that the ice is actually frozen champagne. Aftertaste was like eating orange peel. Escargot- loved the crostini on top, the snail was surrounded with herbs and melted butter. The dish was unexpectedly delicious and had a slight aroma of freshly mowed grass (I know, a little odd but, that's what I felt) Onion soup- though not the most visually appealing dish it was enjoyable. Lobster tail- loved the crispness of the lobster from the chargrill. Served on a bed of spinach. Topped with lemon slices? Oh, the acidity! I loved it. I felt there was a truly special crafting of menu and ingredients. Crab cake- plump lump crab cake with minimal filler over a beautiful bed of sliced, crisp, unsalted potatoes. My crab cake was topped with a slice of grapefruit which was a beautiful addition of color however, everything on the plate should be edible and the two were a gross mis-pairing however a slice of lemon would have done just the trick! Dover sole- high expectations for the "king of the sea." the texture was enjoyable. The restaurant stated that it was deboned but we did pull multiple, very small, bones from the fish. The sliced lemon made it very flavorful, but there was little to no seasoning/salt on the fish alone, just forewarning you but, still I would order again and worth a shot for you. Soufflé- subtly delicious. Crème brûlée- tasty, just like any other Raspberry sorbet- absolutely delicious. Loved. I am curious to try all flavors. Service was excellent. Forget Fat Canary (FC) and come here! A more robust menu, larger portion sizes and cozier atmosphere. Not crammed seating and loud like the FC. Service was on point and we went on a Thursday for the Lamb special. The had leg of lamb cooking on an open spit when you walk in. There was nothing "elegant" or "romantic" about our experience. Evidently there was a Christmas party taking place in which we were NOT informed upon our arrival. Our food arrived and ever so delightfully (sarcasm) - the entire restaurant sounded like a frat party with yelling and cheering. I love Christmas but we would have gone elsewhere if we had been informed of the disruptive party taking place in an "elegant" restaurant. It was our first time in Williamsburg so I searched online for best brunch places and this was #1. So happy we went for it because we had a fantastic time. Sat in the patio; breeze and all greenery were lovely. As soon as we sat they brought our mouthwatering warm chocolate croissants. They were delectable! Their weekend brunch menu is a 3 course meal with a cocktail included for $42/person. The quality of food outweighs the price tag - it's totally worth it. My husband and I both ordered the onion soup for our first course - it was perfect. Second course I had the lobster tail and my husband had the pork tenderloin. We each tried the others dishes and both were delicious. For dessert we had the sorbet trio and the chocolate truffle cake. Sorbets were rich in flavor, the chocolate truffle with the crème anglaise was incredible. Next time we're in Williamsburg I want to try the dinner menu. This place is outstanding. Any time we are in Virginia, we find a way to swing through Williamsburg to indulge in a meal here. There is not a single dish on this menu that leaves more to be desired. The chefs nailed it. The French onion soup is out of this world- creamy and rich with a touch of cheese. We almost always grab a few quarts to bring home and enjoy later. The fois gois is decadent. This is one of the few places I know I can count on my stake being perfectly cooked and seasoned with sides and sauces that bring it to another level. Save space for the desserts, too! I'm a sucker for creme brulee, and the souffle second to none. The staff are friendly, know the menu and how to complement each item with the ideal wine or cocktail. After searching Yelp for restaurants not too long we found, Le Yaca. As we walked in and saw two plaques on the wall that said "Best Restaurant in Colonial Williamsburgh 2014 and 2015" I kind of shook my head like yeahh ok, questioning the legitimacy of the plaque. Well, not only was this the best restaurant we visited on our week long trip it may have cracked my top 5 all time restaurants in my life! French Onion Soup - French onion soup in an authentic French Restaurant, let's get on with it, bring it to my palate now! This is their signature soup and as described by the waiter the onions are pureed. Goes down so easy and packed with the essence of true French onion soup, full of flavor. (Not the version we know today lathered with pounds of mozzarella cheese). Canard -Seared duck breast, caramelized white peach, Foie Gras and port wine sauce. This melts in your mouth and I am pretty sure there are potatoes in this dish as well that they do not list on the menu...pleasant surprise. This is just a layered staple French dish prepared like none I have had before it which melts in your mouth with the sweetest white peaches. If you are a fan of duck this dish will not let you down. Tarte Fine Aux Pommes -Thin Puff Pastry Crust Topped with Thinly Sliced Apples and Sugar, Baked until Caramelized, Served with a Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. The picture makes this look like a dessert for the God's and in this case the picture does not lie! I could easily have eaten two of these and I don't think I can ever recall wanting double portion of any dessert I have ever had! Bravo Le Yaca! I have been bringing my wife here for years, and Le Yaca is always on our short list of fine dining restaurants. Pricey? Not to us. We like the pleasant French white table cloth understated ambience. The training program for servers is a model program. The chef and various cooks are great. We are inclined to recommend the Prix Fixe Menu. And our order will vary, but often is scallops, salad, Dover sole, and Crème brulee. Do your wife a favor and add this flawless dining experience to your week in Williamsburg. After years of living in Williamsburg, I was fortunate enough to finally give Le Yaca a try! It did not disappoint. In fact, I would go as far as proclaiming it the best restaurant in Williamsburg! On this birthday outing, we did not hold back. I ordered off the Prix Fixe Menu (Recommended). To start, I ordered the southern tea cocktail. It was phenomenal. I drink a lot of tea and never thought that you could add a splash of Jack to it. In terms of food, the Prix Fixe Menu starts with your choice of Soup or Salad. I went with the staple soup in the Soupe a l' Oignon. This onion soup was delightful with every spoonful. For my main course, I chose the Boeuf et Homard. The lobster tail was fresh and, soaked in the bed of bisque style sauce, juicy with each bite. The tenderloin was equally great with each bite melting in your mouth. In terms of dessert, I chose the Souffle Grand Marnier. This dish must be ordered when you order your entrees to give the kitchen time to prepare it. I recommend putting the orange sorbet into the soufflé to both cool it down but also add to the flavoring. This dessert is an experience everyone should try. Finally, as a nice touch, our server brought out a small birthday ice cream. Our server (Charles I believe) rounded out the dining experience. He was funny and helped us through the menu at times. C'est Magnifique et authentique! I've eaten at Le Yaca for brunch and for dinner each time I'm in town. Food and service doesn't doesn't disappoint! Enjoyed sitting outside in the patio with a dog or eating inside with beautiful decor. Brunch menu has a fixe prix option along with dinner! If you are not sure what to order, I would go with the fixe prix menu options. Start with standard items such as French Onion Soup, Crèpes or my favorites Le Homard, lobster from Maine and Coquilles Saint Jacques with succulent diver shrimps and wild pink shrimps. Souffle totally worth the wait and extra charge! Dinner items such as foie gras, escargot, saumon cru; filet de boeuf, Dover sole, crevettes au asperges are definitely worth ordering! Try the French wines and cocktails as they have quality ingredients like crème de cassis to make their Kir Royale and a good selection of white and red wines such as the Sancerre and Bordeaux wines from appellations such as Margaux! However, the bartender messed up my martini after I gave explicit instructions, which was rather disappointing. He also never checked back on us, so we never got any salt or pepper (thankfully, everything was well seasoned), our bread went without butter, and our waters were never refilled. He was very pleasant, just not terribly attentive. I suppose that this is the difference between table service and the bar. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, but the service lost some points this time. read more

I came for the Brunch Prix Fixe. The Onion Soup I ordered was just OK. I prefer a soup to either be totally smooth or have lots of mouth feel. This one landed in an uncanny valley of sludgy goop. The taste was fine. Just found the concept a bit uninteresting on the palate. The Crab Crepe was excellent. The crab was all lump and fresh. The sauce was so smooth and savory. Although I don't love the use of nutmeg in the bechamel. And the Apple dessert was a nice soft and burnt edge version of the dish with lots of complex brown butter flavors. I wanted to visit this place for my birthday and when I looked up all the reviews they were great. So my spouse and friend went! The ambiance was cozy and pleasant. The food was really good. Seasoned well. Portions great. Our waiter was nice. However, that all turned halfway through our meal! I saw a mouse run across a nearby table. We got our waiter over and he did not see it nor did my spouse and friend. So I said ok. A few minutes later the mouse ran out again across the fireplace. This time my spouse also saw it. They asked us if we wanted to move seats but that does not cure the problem that we saw a mouse!! The manager came over (believe was Alice or something similar) and acknowledged 'yes they've seen them outside and it's possibly it came through the fireplace.' Now not once did this manager offer to give us a discount on our meal or anything for disrupting our good meal while we saw this mouse 3 times!! And for all of that it is known that this mouse is and has been coming in roaming through this building and the kitchen while no one is around. So for that this place gets a 2 star! read more

My we had a wonderful, relaxing Friday lunch on the patio at Le Yaca. We were fortunate to have lovely fall weather which made outdoor dining the perfect choice. We both opted for the $27 three-course Prix Fixe menu. I started with the Soupe a L'Oignon: a Mountain-Style French Onion Soup. This soup does not have croutons nor a melted slab of cheese on top instead it has a small pile of grated cheese. It was also creamier than I associate with French onion soup. My husband chose the Salade Verte House Salad, Dijon Vinaigrette which he found to be very ordinary. For an entree I opted for the Petite Filet Mignon: grilled beef tenderloin with CrispyPotatoes and a Shallots Portwine sauce. It was prepared to a perfect medium rare. He had the Le Crabe: a Pan Seared Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Beurre Blanc. As described on the menu it contained only the most minimal amount of binder. Because it was midday and our meals were considerably richer than thee lunches to which we are accustomed so we chose lighter desserts. I had the Charlotte Citron Sauce Framboise: a Delicate Combination of Light Lemon Mousse, Thin Almond Crust, Fresh Raspberry Sauce. It was delicate and delicious. We love celebrating his birthday around a culinary adventure. This year was no different. We did the chefs 4 course tasting menu with a wine pairing! We loved the French modern flavors the restaurant produced as well as the laughs and memories we all shared. We started with a scallop appetizer and Judy did the lobster salad. I wanted to be different and went with the duck and Foie gras and Kevin and mom went with the escargot. We had a nice sorbet to help refresh us for our main courses. [reservation is best] When you enter the location, it is beautifully decorated down to bouquets of flowers all of the restaurant. We were seated promptly for our 5pm reservation. I had the lobster and crab cake 3course meal. I would not order a crab cake outside of Maryland, but the pictures looked pretty decent, so I went for it. The crab cake was delicious! Making a reservation was a breeze, checking in was the same. Before our date night, I browsed their menu and knew exactly what I wanted, so happy I didn't change my mind. I got the most lavish menu on the fixed price, five courses. When ordering it, make sure you choose la symphonie. I got the Coquille and homard, foie gras and canard, trio, and la symphonie. For drinks, I got a girly one, the Beautiful Kiss. The fresh warm baguette was a nice start. Reminded me of baguettes that I used to get in Montreal. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It could be eaten alone or with butter. I originally thought I was getting the coquille st-Jacques so I was a bit skeptic when our server presented me my plate but one bite and I was in heaven. The sauces married the seafood well. The scallop and lobster were tender and tasted fresh. The second plate was even more exquisite. I've had foie gras before and they were tough and tasted livery. Their foie gras was nicely seared, good flavour, melts in your mouth. It was like eating mousse. No funky taste! I wanted to eat that everyday and in massive quantity. The duck was tender and not fatty. The foie gras made it taste better. As you can imagine, I took my time to eat this dish. Next was the palette cleanser, lemon sorbet. It was light and certainly did it's job. After was the main, the trio of veal, lamb, and steak. The lamb was the star of that dish. It was amazing! (Also, on Thursdays, they have a trio of lamb dish on special.) I tried all of them but the one that I finished was the lamb. It was super tender, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and it was covered with an unctuous au jus. Yummy! The steak was gorgeously seared, tender and well seasoned too. However, I'm not a huge peppercorn fan to begin with so I had to put that aside and also, I was getting so full by then. I had to leave some room for the course that is calling my name, la Symphonie made with une marquise au chocolat, soufflée, to die for! If you have the chance to dine here, go and indulge. Not sure how the food is, I didn't get a chance to try it due to cancelling reservation. My problem was the service, while I understand we had to cancel within a 48hr notice to not be charged a fee. The issue was that when calling at 9am the morning of nobody knew the fee cost nor could tell me(seems sneaky). The other thing it's in the email but you have to hunt for it because when it came in you had to click view entire message to see it. While I take responsibility for the family member not feeling well the day of, I find it mischievous to not know the fee and hide it especially when it was repeated asked with no direct answer. Btw the fee is $50/plate. AND we called the restaurant and emailed the owner with NO RESPONSE. EVER. Poor customer service. read more
