When warm, clean water seeped out from under my ground floor toilet, I knew I was in trouble. I called Leak Star and left a message, and Fernando called me back within minutes. He showed up with a helper, Pedro, and they set to work. Using various instruments, including thermal and specialized listening tools, they were able to determine my leak was the result of a failed hot water line in the slab under my tiled bathroom floor. By shutting off the hot water via a valve on the inlet side of the water heater, we at least had the leak stopped for the moment. Some days later, I was able to get the reroute work scheduled with Leak Star, and Fernando and Pedro showed up on time and ready to work. In all honesty, it is hard to watch workmen cut & drill into your walls, but they did a great job prepping the work space, doing the work, and cleaning up after themselves when they were through. The break in the hot water line was successfully bypassed, which I verified by observing zero flow through my water meter at the street when all of the spigots were closed. I now have hot water available, and the plumbing part of the job has been completed to 100% of my satisfaction. (Drywall repairs are still outstanding.) Kudos to Fernando and Pedro for putting the plumbing part of this issue "in the rear view mirror." Fernando is friendly and conversational, and is highly skilled in his trade. The continuous sound of running water in our 70's, slab built home, indicated a slab leak. I decided to try Leak Star, based upon very high ratings on Yelp. Jaime came and isolated the problem very quickly using their specialized equipment. He disabled the leaking area and of course, the noise stopped. My wife and I decided to do a complete re-pipe, given the age of the house and the likelihood of further, under slab leaks. To further complicate things, we have an open beam ceiling which makes running pipes difficult. However, Jaime and his able crew very cleverly routed pipes through chases and access holes in the drywall. I called Leak Star after looking at four other leak detection companies, and am I glad I did! I left a message that I suspected we had a slab leak, and Fernando called me back within ten minutes. He said he could have someone come by around 10:30. Michael and Matthew arrived on time. After listening to my description of the problem, they explained what needed to be done and how much it would cost. They went right to work. They found we had two slab leaks, one hot water line and a cold water line. They walked me through everything they found, and then explained what needed to be done, and gave me a cost. We recently found a slab leak from one of our hot water pipes. We had questionable slab leak from having warm/hot spots on our travertine floor, therefore my husband called Leak Star on a Monday at 7AM and was provided an estimated quote over the phone. We already knew the price range after speaking with neighbors. Timo who answered the phone call, came out by 9AM that same day to find the leak source inside a wall. He informed us that it was okay to run cold water, but to turn off the hot water source, and to only turn back on the hot water briefly. Timo is the "neurosurgeon" of leak detection! Don't even bother looking elsewhere. He's your guy!!! We had a gas odor around the fireplace in our newly remodeled house about 2 weeks ago. SoCal Gas came out 3 times, couldn't find the source, ultimately shutting down the gas... what a headache afterwards! I had "solutions" from 4 separate licensed plumbers, from poking holes throughout the house to "guess" where leak was, to capping the pipes, to switching appliances to electrical, to repiping gas pipes (?!!), etc, that would cost us an arm and a leg to do... Someone mentioned trying helium to detect the gas leak. Long story, short, Timo shows up at 8:45pm on Thursday night, did his magic over 2 hours (very detailed, patient answering my questions, and worked clean) and found the source of the leak.
