I don't know why this place gets a bad rap. I have had luck here. The girls at the counter are always abrupt but pleasant. The abruptness comes from being busy. Calvert County is underserved when it comes to restaurant choices. I mean there isn't a Pizza Hut in the entire County for crying out loud! Anyway the food is good. The usual Ledos fare. Well, well, well. My first Yelp review in a long time. Here we go. We moved to Dunkirk about five years ago and the wife and I had lunch at this location at that time. Word on the street was this was THE place for pizza in the local area. It's a chain throughout southern Maryland. Service was fine but the pizza was not what we would call pizza. We're originally from NY so the bar is set high. Anyway, today we came back with our daughter and decided to try a bunch of different things. The wings were the first thing to come out. Very nice. Not crazy spicy, just enough heat. The blue cheese dressing that came with them was very nice. Okay here's where things take a turn. Everything else was okay, but just not really to our taste. Nothing was bad, just not the way Italian food is done where we're from. The pizza is square. That's an aesthetic choice they've made, which has no impact on the flavor. Heck, Sicilian pizza has corners so it can be done. Now this is where flavor comes in. The sauce on the pizza is the same sauce used on every dish. It's actually sold in jars in local grocery stores. It's got flavor but it's rather sweet. The pizza crust is flaky which is just wrong. It reminds me something but I can't put my finger on it. Flaky, crumbly yet oily. Just weird. The calzone was a folded version of the pizza, as one would expect, but it was actually better than the pizza. The spaghetti and meatballs didn't have enough sauce. To use the culinary term, we like our pasta dressed. The meatballs seemed to be mostly bread. All that said, it gets a rating of "I would eat here again" from the wife, which is the highest possible rating. On another note, the decor is dated so if you're looking for a trendy, hip new place, this is not it. If you want to eat with your family and the locals then this is the place. I don't understand the 2 stars. It's Ledo Pizza so this isn't going to be some top of the line pizza place. That said, the quality of the food I've had has always been good and it's one of the better Ledo Pizza locations I've been to. The pizza is good and the wings are big, meaty, and well seasoned. I think a lot of people like to hate on it just because hating on Ledo Pizza is the popular thing to do. It's a solid spot for some pizza and wings. read more

I'm more than happy to take the time to write a poor review for this place. The food was terrible. Order a mix of wings and a couple of pizzas. The pizza sauce was extremely sweet like a kid tipping over 1lb bag of sugar into the mix. I'm not sure how to explain how their pepperonis and sausage didn't taste like normal pepperonis and sausage.... I didn't try the wings but family said they weren't anything special. Okay, i never leave a review, but the more i thought about it, the more i wanted to share...and now looking at the OTHER reviews I am not surprised. Food was fair, but about what I expected from a Ledos...although it is kind of sweet - figured maybe just not to me taste, but others have said same. (we got pizzas and salads, btw). Service was poor, but not rude - but I'm in my fifties so ....sadly what I expect from youthful service at a place like this today. I rarely complain to staff or management at a restaurant...okay never, and i did not here either, but then... I happened to be sitting checking my phone and "the manager" (I assumed he was the manager) asked how our meal was. I said ..."not great" and he said "well that's too bad". I wasn't offended but that's all he had to say. He was cold and blunt and I thought...Why did you ask? He was kind of a jerk actually. So 2-3 weeks goes buy and talking to a neighbor and he had a run in with "the manager" at this Dunkirk Ledos and said the same thing - guys was 1st class (hole), and he know some people who worked at the property and all agreed this guy was a jerk. I know people like to complain, and people tend to review only the bad and not the good, but I will never eat here again, not because of the food, but because of the attitude of the staff. Always a disappointment! Always! App said 25 minutes for 1 spaghetti and 1 salad and after 45, I gave up. I have never eaten at this location or ordered from it and not had some issue. And, as locals know, pizza here is always undercooked no matter what instructions you provide in person or the app. Buy Ledo sauce at the grocery store and make your own. So first off this has got to be the best steak and cheese I've ever carried out from a Ledos Pizza. First off it was nice and hot I asked for extra cheese and they did so, I did ask for Mayo and they didn't put a single drop on it, so they lost a star do to that, because I'm very big on Mayo. But even without the Mayo the sub was very good and I was impressed with the taste. The fries was nice and crispy with a dash of salt. Very good. Also when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and asked if I could be helped. Very good customer service.. I will be back soon. read more

Delicious pizza. It's one of those things I look forward to eating as soon as I come home to this area. The whole family (even the one who typically doesn't like pizza) loves Ledo's. The crust hasn't been duplicated by any other chain and the sauce has a robust tomato flavor without being too spicy or salty. Standard thick cut pepperoni makes it that much more special. The pizza used to be the best. Now, for some reason, you cannot get anything but a doughy, mushy pizza. I called yesterday to order a twice baked crust, for my pizza. Meaning, run the crust through once, without the toppings, and once with the toppings. The owner actually told me to order this way. When I complained about it I was told "you ordered it with sausage" which was total BS. The individuals working at the counter of this Ledos were combative and indignant when a refund was requested for our late food. They were actively misleading customers re: how long food would take to be ready. Our pick-up time was for 6:28p -- for a few salads, some wings, and another random app -- and at 7:00p, we still had not received our food. When we asked for a refund, we were met with a "I'll do this at the end of the night, I'm too busy" and asked to move so they could help another customer despite being customers in need of help ourselves. No apologies were provided from any of the counter staff, just a "we don't control the kitchen." Other customers were yelling about the lateness of their food -- some folks who had been waiting an hour for a few wings -- and were being told they "hadn't even been waiting that long." All in all, if you want a quick dinner pick-up or a pleasant customer service experience, don't bother coming to this Ledo's for dinner. read more

The food here has been good. Not amazing, but since there are limited restaurant options in Dunkirk, it works. The front counter staff here needs some better customer service training though. The staff is consistently grouchy, and really seem to be inconvenienced and bothered by the customers. There has also been more than one occasion where I have called this place to order food, was put on hold for at least 5 minutes, and then hung up on. That's just unacceptable in my opinion. Since this staff is pretty much the face of your restaurant to the customers, they really should be trained to do their jobs better. Or replaced with nicer, friendlier people. read more

Our soccer team was in the area for a game so we made an attempt to eat as a group in local establishment. Something we commonly do. A parent called ahead that morning to see if they could do a group of 20+. Ledo's put us in the backroom together. Food was good. Typical Ledo's menu. The issue we had was when the bill came. The waitress told us she was unable to split the bill. The manager informed us it would be too much work to do so. We have never had this issue. Created a mess for us to get back on the road. Between the three little punks banging on the bathroom door that was too close to the table for their buddy to "get the f*ck out here!", to the long-armpit haired guy in the wifebeater complaining a bit loudly, that his "f*cking pizza ain't the way I like it!" (I'm sorry sir, when did Ledo's ever say "Have It Your Way"?), to the waitress also invoking the f-bomb...again a little too close to me...while trying to coax the register to help her with subtraction...well, it was a close quartered, f*cking disaster. And don't bother with salad. Just stick to the pizza, calzones, and mozzarella sticks. They're safe and predictable. If you absolutely MUST dine inside a Ledo's, I'd suggest the Chesapeake Beach location. It's older, shabbier, but has the old-fashioned pizza dive feel. *on a side note, despite the chaos the diners created, my waitress was very cheerful and nice. Overall wildly variable, but lately, I've been enjoying my time when I visit here. The last 3 visits (all within the last 6 months) have been quite enjoyable. Service has been solid. Note, we generally go on weekday nights. Pizza is the Ledo standard squares on trays, sweet sauce and an almost pastry-style crust. If you get pepperoni, it is thick cut, mildy spicy and very oily. Veggie pizza is pretty tasty to me, and less greasy. Depending on your preference it's heavenly or horrid. They have been through a number of evolutions in menu, staff and clientele. After standing in the lobby for ten minutes because there was no one At the desk I started to look through the glass for an associate. First I saw an employee In the kitchen drinking. Then I see another guy blowing his nose in the kitchen. When the lady finally came out I told her I'd like to cancel my order. She went to get another guy I think his name Was Billy who was rude and told me it was Okay for his Employees to blow Their nose and drink in the kitchen before telling me the conversation was over while I was expressing my concerns.
