I had the best experience ever here. I brought my car to another place on Cherry for an oil change and check up and they came up with $1100 worth of things that I needed to fix "very soon." I was suspicious because on their list of things I needed done was something I had done very recently. I wanted a second opinion so I brought it here and they had my car for 5 minutes or so. They said there was nothing wrong with my car. I said I was worried because I would be driving it up to Oregon and they said I would be fine. Wow. What a relief. I was looking for a local place to have my car smog checked. I called Lees at 10:30 am and drove in and had my car smogged and back home at 11:00 am. They were fast and friendly. I came on Wednesday August 5th in the morning to do a smog check, but their inspector was not in. Mrs. Lee rushes outside hands me a $10 coupon and asks me to come today (Thursday the 6th) to have the service done. I returned around the same time, and was in and out in under 20 minutes. The mechanic is rude. The company ripped me off on a smog check. After knowing my truck had a modified air filter which passed two years ago. The mechanic tells me he has a problem with the air filter. He says I need some codes for the air filter to get a certicate. He's the mechanic not me. Initial statement: It's an Ok shop for very small jobs, but beware. My other mechanic quoted me $500 for the job which was shocking since his labor prices doubled. Lee's Quote: Their quote was more reasonable at $280 although when the work was completed the total price was $315. I am mechanically inclined so I do know a lot about cars. Parts inquiry: They installed the CV Axles and afterwards I asked what brand were they and got no reply only "remaned". The older mechanic stated they get these since many types the boots tear very quickly and need replacing. Still, he did not tell me who remanufactured the axles that were put on my car. This is a flag: All mechanics should tell you the manufacturer of the parts going on your car and should show you the old ones! Also OEM as the mechanics state, is not the same as Honda OEM parts. It is a spec of the original part which the new part is made to. There is sometimes a big difference. Also ask how long they will honor the part. A good shop will give you at least 90 days. Noticed a vibration from bad parts installed: Fast forward a few months and I started an onsite location job, at freeway speed (So Cal freeway speed 70-80mph.) I noticed a vibration which was not there before the new axle installation. I thought it might be the tires and they needed a balance/rotation. After a few weeks of freeway driving I thought there was possibly a bad axle and went to talk to the Lees mechanic. He stated get the tires rotated and I asked "What if the vibration is still there?". He stated bring it in and "We will swap them out". I thought this to be reasonable reply. Lee's Customer Service and Quality response: After the rotation and balance, the vibration still existed. I took it back over to Lee's. There are two men there, an older and younger one "Spencer", the two mechanics talked a bit and said "Its the tires, get the tires balanced". I told them I just had that done at their suggestion and I pulled out the document that showed I recently had the rotation/balance (a week prior). We walked over to my car and looked at the tires, which are in pretty good shape. I asked if they could do anything? The younger guy "Spencer" kept looking at the America's Tire document like he was looking for a reason to blame someone else. Spencer said "We can do something but it's not the axles, it's the tires, get the tires balanced.". This is funny since he was holding a document that stated the tires just had recently been balanced/rotated. I am surprised that they did not want to test drive my car or even look at it, even when I told them I would compensate them for their time. A second major indicator of bad parts: After driving down to South OC, at the end of the day I came out to find a huge pool of oil under my car. I knew it was gear oil. The passenger side axle had come out of the gearbox about an inch causing me to loose HALF of my gearbox oil! Poor quality replacement CV axles do this. If they wobble or vibrate at any speed get rid of them. Vibration and issues solved: I decided to break down and get new axles installed in my car. Now, my car drives much better than it did before, smooth up to normal So Cal freeway speeds with no gearshift wobbling and vibration through the steering wheel. It is officially confirmed that the CV axles Lee's Auto put on my car were not good. Whoever they source their parts from must have very poor quality control and were not balanced very well. Also the vibration can lead to gearbox bearing and seal wear. Not good for the life of the car or the transmission. Reasonable compensation: To be honest with you, I think Lee's should refund at least the cost of my axle purchase even though this is a couple of years after the installation date. The added time buying the axles, determining what the actual problem was, calling in for a favor that you shouldn't of have had to, the downtime of the car during repair, are all issues I should not have had to deal with. And I originally brought the car back telling Lee's of the possible part problem. Also, during my discussion with "Spencer" he stated he doesn't care how long the part lasts!!! Once your car leaves their shop it's out of their hands! Really CV Axles should last at least 3 to 4 years. Can you believe it? I am surprised they didn't "man up" and put some new quality parts on my car after my complaint to them. They should stand behind their work, but did not and did not even think that there may be a problem. Overall, this was only $300 worth of work. If you have problems file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. (BAR) read more

I've used this place for years for SMOG and was very happy with them. I decided to have them do my clutch job. The price they quoted was reasonable and comparable to other garages. A few days later, I took the car back and noted that the clutch felt soft; they laughed and said I just wasn't used to the new clutch and to give it time. I brought it back because it wasn't shifting smooth. I decided maybe they were right and let it go. But a few weeks later, the car started a screeching noise whenever the clutch was let out. I brought it back and they sprayed WD-40 on it and told me that there was a little rust on something but now it's fine. Squeaking stopped for 2 days but came back. Took it to another garage who told me that the clutch bearing had not been replaced in the original job. It cost me an additional $400 for them to go in and replace it. I was so disappointed with Lee's. I had taken it back a couple of times knowing something wasn't right but they just shined me on. That is really unfortunate. You can trust them for SMOG, they are very helpful and friendly but as far as large repairs, me, well I'll take my car elsewhere. read more

Called in the AM to inquire about cost for oil change due to my normal service center closing....... Lee quoted me $25.00 for a2006 Dodge Magnum. I arrived at the location at roughly 1:30pm and they got me right in....... I spoke with the mechanic Spencer about the cost to change my brakes because it was a loud squeaking noise, he lifted my car on the hoist, conducted a brake inspection detailing all info on my brakes. He explained I didn't need new brakes, I just had a rock wedged between the pad and wheel area....... Didn't charge a dime for the info. I know other places that would have taken this opportunity to make the customer buy even though they didn't need it........ Come time to pay for my oil change and Spencer explained that I needed an additional quart of oil which would bring the price to $30, but since Lee quoted $25.00 hell only charge $25.00 and I'd just know the price for next time.......; you know what, certainly will and I'll certainly be back for further services!! I've been going to Lee's for 19 years. I have always been satisfied with the work I've had done and the prices I was quoted & paid. The customer service is excellent, they offer you coffee & water while you wait. The staff is always nice, friendly & honest. Spencer is always friendly no matter how busy he is when I arrive. He explains the problems in a manner that I can understand. Spencer has always followed through on the repair work and completed in a timely manner. As I've sat in the waiting area a few times, I've observed they have repeated customers who also seem satisfied with their work and customer service. I cannot say enough nice things about Lee's Automotive. They are the most honest and fair mechanics I have ever been to in the 20 years I've been getting auto services. I've had services done there twice after being referred by a couple of different people. I've also referred two people there recently which had been told by other mechanics that they needed services done which were going to be several hundred dollars to then have Mr. Lee tell one of them there was nothing wrong with her car at all. The other person my wife, he fixed her car within 5-10 minutes which was just a spark plug and he didn't charge her anything at all! After fixing my car Mrs. Lee (I assume) the sweet lady that runs the front office sent me off with an ice cold water bottle. I highly recommend trying Lee's automotive next time you need your car serviced they are very professional and I have also not had my services done so quickly anywhere else. read more

The car wouldn't start. I was hoping it was the battery, but that wasn't the case. My friend raved about Mr. Lee. I also checked Yelp. Good reviews of service and price, so I had the car towed. It wasn't a cheap fix, the "starter" usually isn't, but he gave me the lowest price (I called around for other estimates). I came here because it's close to my house at first the lady at the desk would be nice after my car didn't pass and was explained why I asked if it had to be Star certified or normal smog check after they charged me even though I didn't pass which is weird because it should be free when I've done it before if it doesn't pass I want to ask her does it have to be Star certified or could I go do it at all regular small check place she got mad and hung up on me and kept telling me that they were closed when they still had another customer I don't get it I went back and I'm guessing her husband talk to me and he explained to me that I could go to a regular one which is what I wanted to know after charging me she can't even give me information about my own car she needs to learn some good customer service after you charge someone for something that should be free you can even give them information read more

Brought my car there for squeaky brakes expecting them to fix them and charge me $100 plus. Fortunately, they're honest. They inspected the brake pads - took off the tires and everything. I stood there for 20 minutes waiting for a quote. What I got was a lot better. They told me my brake pads were fine? Showed me how much of the pads were left and explained that the brakes on my make of car sometimes squeak. They didn't charge me a penny! Whoo-hoo, happy days. :-) Love them! read more
