When done right and they get the order correct, Lee's Famous is very good. However, at this particular location on 200, they screwed up my takeout order THREE separate times in a row. Apologies, gift cards, but the problems persisted. I finally gave them one more chance and while the order was correct for a change, the pot pie had exactly one tiny piece of chicken in it. ONE. Worse experience ever. I guess this Lee's chicken restaurant doesn't like serving to people of a particular skin tone. We went into the restaurant around 8:20pm waiting for service. We kept being told we would right with you. My husband and I was totally ignored. Another family of people returned a mini fan back and then this dude went to register and still ignored us completely. Like I said I don't care to much for Ocala Florida. It's too much racism up here but there are a lot of mixed couples. This was a horrific experience that my husband looked at me and said "You don't want to eat here do you?" Staff has always been pleasant & helpful & efficient. Store appears clean and neat. Orders are prepared in good time. Decided to go to Lee's Chicken for a change and wasn't disappointed. Service was wonderful and food was so delicious. Doesn't matter if you get the spicy chicken strips, or the spicy chicken it's both good. Crispy, juicy, tender chicken that has so much flavor. Original chicken is good too. Potato wedges are seasoned just right and we got the green beans and they were delicious. Biscuits or soft and fluffy and the iced tea is on point. First time trying. The service was great when I arrived home I live about 6 miles from there. I had some stuff to do so my food sat on the counter for about 1015 minutes. When I went to eat, it was still at the right temperature. I had the two piece chicken dinner with JoJo's, real JoJo's I might add, and coleslaw. It was all very good. I really like Lee's Chicken food. I've been there many times. This is a review for one of their employee at the customer counter Ms. B who is always nasty, cold and curt to me. Today, I got the same unfriendly service. When I questioned calmly if I got the right change. She started raising her voice saying I was giving her an attitude and she cursed at me saying "damn" several times. Huh? What a hateful woman to be a minority herself and treat another minority (I'm asian) like this. I even asked the manager if she had dementia because who in the right mind would act like this? She should be working the kitchen instead of the counter, NOT in a customer facing position, because she does not treat all customers the same. She even started yelling at the manager back. God love everyone who has to work with this miserable, racist black woman. If you're the right color or a white man, I've watched her "Honey this and Baby that". She sees me and treats me like the worst scum on this planet. She should be fired or placed in the kitchen. I will no longer come inside if I have to be verbally and inhumanely treated like this. We are new residents of Ocala (2days!). We saw billboards advertising Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken Pot Pies and thought that a good pot pie would really hit the spot because it was a chilly day. We stopped at their location on SW SR200 and was waited on by Susie, who we found out later was an owner of the place! My wife and I split a pot pie and an order of coleslaw. Our meal was absolutely outstanding! The pot pie had a hot filling of potatoes, carrots, and a generous amount of chicken with savory gravy, covered by a buttery croissant crust. The creamy coleslaw was a great accompaniment. We will absolutely return for more Chicken Pot Pies and also to try other menu selections. By the way, Susie says that you can order uncooked pot pies to cook at your convenience at home. We often travel to south Orlando to see friends, so we will be taking some pot pies to them a gifts! read more

There is nothing better than Lee's Chicken! Really. Their chicken has to be the largest (photo) and tastiest of any chicken chain I've eaten in and now that I'm back in the SW I really miss it. Whenever I'm in Ocala, I make several visits, particularly on Wednesday and Sunday's for their 3 piece Specials for $5.49 (see photos). Lee's has a full menu and everything is very good. A little background, Lee Cummings and Harold Omer open "Harold's Take Home" in Lima, Ohio back in the day and that's where Lee Cummings Forster introduced his Famous Recipe chicken. But this wasn't some some kid with an idea for better tasting chicken. Lee was the nephew of Colonel Sanders and spent most of his childhood in hs kitchen. Lee even hit the road with his famous uncle in 1952, selling their own special blend of spices along with their famous pressure cookers, which later became part of KFC's "Secret Recipe". In just three years, Lee and the Colonel opened over 800 KFC stores. Wow, 800 KFC outlets in three years, that has to be a record of some kind. Sadly in 1979 Lee sold the chain to Shoney's, who in turn sold it to RTM Restaurant Group in 1995. BTW, Colonel Harland David Sanders died on December 16th, 1980 and is now played by former SNL cast member Darrell Hammond on KFC's TV commercials. My plate was retuned with the "freshest" wedges in the cabinet. My chicken was cold and the macaroni was bottom of the barrel. Other then the chicken being cold, it was good. My husband and I loved Lee's Chicken but after the last two times we went there, we have decided to go elsewhere!!!! I went there for the lunch special and got there before 2 p.m. and stood in line behind other customers. I didn't mind waiting, but when it was my turn the big woman there started screaming at me that the Lunch Special was OVER!!! What!!!??? It was NOT over, she was just being a snot. Well, I left and called to reach out to the owner, but s/he never called me back. They must not care about poor customer service!!!! I looked at both my phone and the clock inside my car when I got back to my car, and both said 2:02 p.m., which meant that I got there way before 2 p.m . and they should have given me the lunch special. Well, I called, they told me to go back in and said the manager would "honor" the lunch special. Big deal! It was now 2:30 p.m. and all they did was waste my time. They could have cared less. Then weeks later I went back in and the big woman was not in. However, when I asked for the Sunday special (it was Sunday), the woman started screaming at me that the lunch special was over. I said I was not talking about the lunch special, I was talking about the Sunday Special. She said, "Oh, okay," and made the price adjustment. The manager looked at me and must have remembered me from the other problem they created, and he gave me extremely small pieces of legs and thighs -- the pieces looked like they were from a rock Cornish hen or a pigeon!! When I complained, he gave me two extra (small) thighs saying that was all they had! I left and vowed NEVER TO RETURN! Message to Lee's owner: You can't care enough about your customers to call them back, but you may care when you hear that Popeye's Chicken is opening right on the other side of 75 in Ocala. They are almost done building and will be opening soon!!! I will be more than happy to take my business there from now on as I have received crappy attitude service from your employees for long enough! You can keep them and your small pieces of chicken.
