My husband and I made a reservation here for a light dinner and to try out their cocktails. There is free parking and the door to Lee's is on the side of the side of the building with a lack of decorations, just past the Owl Bar patio. When you open the black door, the hallway is enveloped in red lights as you go up the stairs to check in. It definitely gives that hidden vibe. There were two areas and the room farthest away was more quiet and brighter. It's very intimate and comfortable. I really liked how the music wasn't too loud so you can still hear your conversation and our waiter gave great suggestions. He was very friendly and cracked some jokes with us. We had two pizzas and 4 drinks. We really prefer the corn star over the summer squash. The corn star was slightly sweet from the corn bits and has a sharp taste of the shishito bits with a mellow connection with the cheese. The summer squash was not as impressive. We still ate both pizzas without a problem. Note that these are small pizzas and we didn't have any left overs to take with us. As for drinks, we had the Mattress Actress (vodlka), Harvey's Banger (gin/orange liqueur), Franny (frangelico), and Mini Mart (non-alcoholic). All four drinks are really good so it'll depend on your preferred choice of liquor. The strongest flavor was Mattress Actress with a shot of champagne. Harvey's banger and Mini Mart has a nice balance, not too strong, not too light. Franny did leave an impression. Overall, all of these four drinks were great and would try again. Stopped in on a Wednesday with a buddy and spent a few hours talking over drinks and snacks. The $1 oysters are an absolute deal and were the highlight of the food for me. We also shared an order of mozzarella sticks that hit the spot. Wednesday also features pasta specials, which looked like another great value. For drinks, I had a mezcal spritz that was excellent and another signature cocktail that I unfortunately can't remember the name of, but I do remember enjoying it. The cocktail program seems well thought out without being pretentious. The atmosphere is what really stands out. Walking in gives off great speakeasy vibes. The entrance has a slightly divey, hidden-gem feel, and once inside the space is stylish, intimate, and comfortable. The music was at just the right volume. Present enough to create energy but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. This is a great spot for one-on-one catchups, date nights, or grabbing drinks with a small group of friends. Ok, so this restaurant is located in a building with several other restaurants. Parking on a Friday/Saturday night is slim. I'd advise you to take a car service, get there early, or drop your party off and circle the lot like a buzzard, waiting for someone to leave. So you have to go upstairs to access this place and it is really dark inside. Drinks took a while but food came out in waves, allowing enough time for us to enjoy what was on the table. We had half of the appetizers listed and for a table of four, it was more than enough. I really liked the duck fat fries, which are as large as potato logs. Our server was attentive throughout the night, and the hosts were warm, friendly, and accommodating. Five stars for the staff. As for the food: * Baked oysters: not good at all. How do you mess up baked oysters? * Raw oysters: decent as a light snack. * Steak tartare: completely lacked flavor. * Hamachi crudo: didn't taste fresh. * Truffle pizza: disappointing. It's basically truffle oil with very little actual truffle flavor, so don't be fooled. I've had better pizza from Costco. * Duck fat fries: mid. * Mozzarella sticks: mediocre. * Calamari: surprisingly one of the better dishes. The drinks were somehow even more disappointing. The Americano was awful--there was nothing "Americano" about it. The espresso martini was a huge letdown, and their recommended fluffy orange juice cocktail (I forgot the actual name) was another miss. I'll give credit where it's due: the water was excellent. It actually tasted filtered instead of straight from the tap. And the cocktail names? Let's just say they're trying way too hard to be quirky. Maybe put more effort into how the drinks taste than what they're called. Overall, this "speakeasy" feels like a place that invested heavily in aesthetics and forgot that people actually come for good food and drinks. Great concept, poor execution. What a night! Myself and 3 of my friends came here for the first time together and had such a great night. We ordered a pizza, Caesar salad, the steak dinner (Thursday night special) and some appetizers. Food was truly incredible. The duck fat fries and pizza were orgasmic. Steak was cooked perfectly and lathered in some kind of sauce - insanely good. Staff was friendly and fun. I had been wanting to checkout this spot for quite awhile and finally had a chance for happy hour. Parking and Vibe - 4* There is a parking lot surrounding Lee's and their other venues, but it was absolutely jam packed due to what looked like a business Christmas party. The most annoying part is there were three or four awkwardly parked cars that prevented others from parking in the spaces immediately adjacent to them. A few spaces definitely do not look standard size and are more compact only though not marked as such. There is "complimentary" valet, which if anyone knows me, I find absurdly stupid when a lot is attached to the restaurant. Let me give you a tip for parking my car fiftrn feet a way from where I could have done it myself. At least the valet doesn't seem to try to block off parking spots which is becoming more common to force you to "pay" them. Here's a novel concept, park the car further away like New York and earn it? /rant Now for those who are not aware, this venue is upstairs and you get there through a service entry type backdoor that leads to some stairs. It feels like this spot could definitely be a bit prohibition speakeasy, if desired. The vibe on the interior is really cool, though, the music was louder than one would expect. This was particularly the case when being sat in a corner where the speaker is located. Personally, I think it kind of takes away from the ambiance of the venue, which is otherwise amazing. Maybe expand the speakers and lower the volume so it isn't as obnoxious for certain areas? Food & Drink - 3.5* There are some great options on the regular and happy hour menu. We ordered a couple of drinks and food from each over our time there, all great. The wings, the baked oysters, and the Duck Fat Fries were all solid. The hamachi crudo went down before a pic could be snapped. We would have ordered a pizza but we were too full! The Garibaldi was probably the highlight from the HH menu. The Cynar Mojito was good and I found the Campari Seltz very underwhelming. Overall the cocktail menu is not overly impressive, but I think I subjectively carry a higher bar on craft cocktails having been a bartender. Nothing here stands out to me in a crowd of other places trying to vie for your dollar. Service - 5* They are a team here with everyone from the waitress, to the runners, to the hostess all helping out. It results in largely never needing anything and being checked in onultiple times. Absolutely on point being able to enjoy the vibe without being in need of anything. Pricing - 4* As I say in most reviews, it's subjective. It's becoming harder to run a restaurant and bar these days with margins just becoming thinner. Food is reasonable, maybe a hair over but the vibe of this joint makes it a bit more experiential. Now, I think some of the drinks are overpriced for what they are. $16 is the "standard" in today's 2025 market but that's for what I'd consider to be a drink involving a bit more curation in house made syrups, bitters, tinctures, etc. Or prep and presentation. I've been to several establishments with more evelated cocktails for the same price. It feels like so many spots just price them self to the market not to the actual elevation of the drink itself. Overall - 4* Lee's is a spot I'd revisit with some friends if they're seeking an interesting vibe though I'd probably key in on only a few select drinks. It will seem as though you should walk through the Owl Bar to get upstairs, but the the access is actually from the outside around the back (we made this mistake) We tried to do a walk-in, but they were booked up. I've seen the transition of this space from Benjy's to Lee's Den to now Lee's. I've been a huge fan of the group and their prior concepts. I'm also a huge cocktail fan, so I was so excited that Lee's was recognized by Bon Appetit as one of the best new bars in the US! If you look at Lee's prior menus, their cocktails were so unique! We definitely wanted to check it out, and the reviews of those before us seemed great. BUT - don't get fooled like we did! Unfortunately, starting this week, Lee's decided to go a new direction- so the person that was leading their prior bar program no longer is there. And there is a different group leading the bar program now. We were pretty surprised when we got the drink menus today, because they were very different and pretty basic. Our waitress explained that it was taking them so long to prep drinks before, that they decided to go a new direction. This past Wednesday was the last day they served the old cocktail menu. Huge bummer! Seemed like Lee's could have been amongst the Juleps and Anvils, but decided to go a different direction. The space is still nice. The drinks are average. Very quaint speakeasy that's attached to an Italian restaurant called Miltons in Rice Village. The is a designated parking lot for the complex with decent parking spaces. We have a truck so we felt the spaces are a bit tight but there's also street parking on the side streets also. We couldn't find the entrance and actually ended up going through the restaurant, but the actual entrance is in black double door in the back around the corner by The Owls. It's a fairly small space where the bar is the focal point with some booths and tables around it. The the decor is very artistic and with a mix of diner meets art deco. There' a cute room that as a cover balcony feel. This place was previously called Lee's Den and it's been recently renamed and the food dishes are different than what was served before. We can here specifically for japanese milk bread and some of their older dishes that they no longer serve, which was a disappointment. We tried a lot of there drinks and they were all pretty good: Appleteeny, Single slot, Goddess Green, Black hat. For food we had fries, the hamachi tacos, wings, crab rolls, mushroom dumplings, Chicken sandwich, and the Tigelle sandwich. The food was decent, nothing really stood out but presentation was very nice. The servers are very attentive and we noticed that they all dress in strips so easy to spot. read more

We visited this place in hopes of having a nice drink and some food but when we were getting ready to order they told us they ran out of pizzas. We were a bit shocked being the menu is so small and the main item on there is pizzas. I've never been to a place that sells pizza and they run out of pizza but I guess that just means I'll have to go earlier to still give it a try. The drink I got was really good and there's a grapefruit margarita I'd like to try when I go back. The ambiance itself was very nice. There is a Photo Booth in there and it looked very cute inside. My only complaint is that they changed their menu completely to italian and are going to be more of a place to try out new menu items for the italian restaurant that will soon join the building. There's a bar area, as well as table seating. The patio is now enclosed and looks like it will be a great place to hang, too. The menu is small, but has some great drinks on it. They have a section of small, half-sized cocktails too that can be meant as a nice finisher to your evening or even something fun to enjoy as you wait for your other party to arrive.
